10581  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: CRYPTSY stopping withdraw locking accounts without notifying users! Class Action on: July 09, 2016, 09:31:36 PM
Any hopes to return coins?

As soon as Mintpal, CoinEx, Coinmarket.IO and MxGox are finished returning the coins Craptsy is next on the list. Are you holding your breath?

Which ones did I forget guys?
10582  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: July 09, 2016, 09:23:47 PM
As far as aminorex's most recent prediction of 0.005>0.006 in August, I don't feel it without some other specific news.  Then again last month I said that something would happen in 3 months which is September so August is close.  I remind every one I know nothing.  Then again we all know something is happening "soon" or in 2 weeks, whichever comes first  Grin Grin Grin

If bitcoin would go to 300$ again, would this be enough news to have Monero 'moon' to 0.006?

That would be a real btc bear market so if that is the btc price I wouldn't count on that being the Monero price.  Ofc it depends on why.

I just remembered why I originally said September.  There is a hard fork scheduled for September.  The ever present dangling carrot of the GUI alluded to with the timely code words  Grin which doesn't need a hard fork, as well as RingCT which will happen this year.  Sorry but I forgot whether RingCT needs a hard fork.  A have a vague memory that it does and that it should be ready in time.

Edit:  to me Monero moon is predicated on Monero strength not btc weakness.

I believe he is speaking in relation to and assuming inverse proportionality with his question.
10583  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Vitalik and Tual going to end up in jail? on: July 09, 2016, 08:00:20 PM
The fund holder stole nothing, he entered into a valid contract and profited. It is not fair but life is not fair. Same conversation too many threads.

The Eth TOKEN is dead on HF. Learn from history do not repeat it.
10584  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH GETTING DUMPED HARD!!!! on: July 09, 2016, 07:53:17 PM
The DAO has actually increased about 24% during the past 24 hrs going from .00012621 to .00015649.

Pumpers will pump anything what makes them money.

After the hard fork, the DAO owners will get almost 100% of the Ethereum back, so the price will rise.

Quite the opposite I'm afraid.

I would say more like .005 but yes it is finally getting the respect it deserves. What lousy timing for me for ETH to fail at this point when I supported so many years and have divested all CC sans a few failed projects I tried to support. :|
10586  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum - Time to buy or time to sell? on: July 09, 2016, 07:46:40 PM

That is because the Ethreum is the most popular GPU coins. It has more miners than any other coins.

You are correct, but that does not mean the same conversation needs to be in so many threads that it is impossible to follow. All that happens is the same information is repeated endlessly.

BTW if anyone needs personal help feel free to pm me, I'm aware alot of lurkers are adverse to speaking in open forum.

It is not developed successfully, that is simiilar to other coins in early stages.  I hope it will learn a lesson.

The HF is proof they have not learned from all those before them. Please tell me the definition of crazy.

Someone please explain the "aminorex/XMR bullish correlation" to me?  I've never heard of that particular Trend Analysis technique!

When there is a bull run and aminorex makes supportive comments about it some people correlate that to a dump in the near future.

It may be true or it may be bias stemming from the fact that some people give credence to what he says as well as the fact that every bull run inevitably ends with a dump.

Listen to this guy, I've never seen anything but honest posts from him.

#1 rule in CC

Never depend on a correlation or trend the markets are too small.

Do you think this would give you an edge? Lol

It would be used against you at the worst possible time. These people are pro's.

Damn I should stop with the free advice but I'm just too honest for my own good. I'd be rich if I was a sellout. Cheesy

Funny Tip , when connected to anything Online, did you Spoof your network card's physical address, or leave the one that is default.
If you left the default, that physical address is stored in a database where anyone can see the make model & serial number of that PC.
Oh and you purchased your PC with a credit card which can be cross referenced with that serial number.

Buy or sell? Unfortunately I think Eth is no longer an option to trade in the altcoin market.

Perhaps this is the right time to sit and watch it die.

Now is a great time to trade it, as the volatility is what offers the opportunity to profit. You can make money both ways, not just buy and hold.

For the Ethereum trading, it is difficult to know the market direction. It is better to wait after the hard fork.

After the hard fork, there is good community spirit and the price rises to $15. I will buy some to support it.

Thats completely wrong. Why don't you guys stop spamming so many threads with this drivel. Here is your latest one that actually has some decent arguments.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1543445.0

Anything from that thread can be dropped in this one as it is the same discussion.

This one too.

Ether is too big to fail because its premise hold endless opportunities and benifits. Understand the business and you will understand the product! Understand the product and you too will invest with knowledge, not forum gossip.

Nothing is too big to fail. Observe the past American housing market, or banking industry. I'm pretty sure those guys percieved themselves as 'too big to fail', right up to the Congressional hearing.  And we are talking about serious market capitalizations.

"To big to fail" does not refer to market cap or $$$ size...
It refers to disastrous secondary effects due to the interconnectedness of institutions... so context is everything.

The $$$ size of major US banks circa 2008 was not the issue...
But their failure would have created a disastrous cascade... and liquidity crunch... and brought the US economy to a halt.

The DAO was "to big to fail" only in the context of Ethereum.
Ethereum itself, in real world terms, is of zero consequence... it's just another obscure tech startup.

As long as the Ethereum is supported by the community including the miners, and it is developed successfully, it will not fail.

Well that there is the point you are missing, it IS NOT being developed successfully now is it.

Perfect example of useless rant.

Perfect example of no logical argument to respond with. Your about 1 post away from ignore.

No matter which side of the debate you're on, a person needs to laugh a little at the fact that Kraken utilized thier customers ETH to influence the vote. Wonder if they asked everyone's permission.

http://etherscan.io/tx/0xc165ab5726c66bb3db50544981f20d143b46a3e990d7b424dbf81d5070dd6278

Bankers doing what bankers do. No surprise we already knew it was all centralized anyway.

LOL well have to agree with that. It does depend where the Bank is located or does business (In this case crypto-exchange). For example if Gemini tried to do the same thing with their customers ETH they would be subject to losing their bitcoin license.

"(c) Each Licensee is prohibited from selling, transferring, assigning, lending, hypothecating, pledging, or
otherwise using or encumbering assets, including Virtual Currency, stored, held, or maintained by, or under the
custody or control of, such Licensee on behalf of another Person except for the sale, transfer, or assignment of
such assets at the direction of such other Person."

Edit: No matter what you think of this type of regulation, it at least attempts to ensure ethical behaviour by the exchange. Perhaps this explains one of the reasons behind some exchanges not wanting to function in New York.

Although we are on opposite sides of the debate you have made a valid point. Smiley

But helping them getting their money back isnt a bailout so if you didnt know this ill forgive you. Personally, i care more about not allowing a thief go away with stolen money rather than helping people getting their money back. But if they get the money back and the thief is not allowed to get away then its a double win.
Why do people keep calling it a thief? "The Attacker" simply followed the "smart" contract. In fact, he was the only person who actually understood the contract! And the contract itself states that the contract's code is binding, there is no other interpretation possible.
A hard fork on the other hand, that is actually theft. Which is why I am very curious to see a lawsuit about this.

It is no different than what bankers and lawyers and accountants do all day long, they thrive by gaming the system and most of what they do is legal (although unethical) and if it isn't legal they lobby to make it so.

I personally would like to see the "Fund holder" in the current contract to further the cause of financial liberty for all with the windfall but either way he gamed a system within the rules set forth and is thereby entitled to the rewards. I'm not arguing it's fair but neither is life. If life was fair Trump would be destitute on the street.

Correct, I attempted to find a better description and settled on "Fund Holder" in context but I am sure there is a better descriptive term that just has not come to mind. I guess we could just call him the DAO Winner. Cheesy

I think in the future I will be referring to ETH as The ETH Token.

10594  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin IS basically DESTROYED on: July 09, 2016, 04:48:32 PM
Bitcoin is basically destroyed now with 70% of the mining controlled by China, soon to be 98+%, and with Blockstream implementing their SegWit soft fork Trojan Horse so as Matonis admits can end up increasing the 21 million coins limit.

The entire ecosystem is headed for a clusterfuck.

I honestly believe this is the truth.  What is there to add ?

~CfA~

UPDATE: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1465136.msg14789764#msg14789764

Instead of saying that bitcoin is destroyed it is much better and the right thing to say that bitcoin will prosper. china having the highest percentage of the world's bitcoin mining farms does not mean catastrophe but instead it will help stabilize bitcoin as a currency. Increase of bitcoin limit is also a good news. With the statement being said you imply that there is a discrimination with China. I don't know what's the issue but it will not lead bitCoin to its doom.
Yaa I believe that bitcoins are going to prosper. The main idea of bitcoin is decentralization. No one can have total control over it. The fact that China owns most of the faring mines doesn't mean that it can control the bitcoins. Mining is done to keep the bitcoin system working and stable. Bitcoin is the future and I can't say it's destroyed.

Yes, destroyed is hyperbole but endangered is not an incorrect term. If the chinese hash was suddenly cuttoff and that coincided with a attack then...

I find it interesting that I don't see this being talked about. I contribute it to bagholder fear.

Any of you maximalists out there better take heed and get that hash distributed before your worst nightmares become a reality.

Bitcoin's mining may be centralized due to the Chinese mining monopol. But fear not, you're always welcome to switch to Monero.

Well you are right, but still they can't control and destroy bitcoin with that kind of act. Yes, they have the majority of miners.
But they don't have the majority of users.
i think chine is the biggest supporter of bitocin. so how can they think to destroy it. i think it is also wrong to say that china is controlling and centralizing the bitcoin. i think now it becomes impossible because bitcoin have become more popular in all over the world and now not a sing country can centralize it.

I wouldn't feel safe with most hash in a totalitarian regime.

Probably will make it go even higher. I can not figure out the market cap as-is.

Pre-mined
VB runs the coin/network
Forked for third party screw up
Unlimited supply
Going to be PoS

It is truly an enigma! Any other coin would have pumped/dumped and gone by now...

Only because cap is so high, too many delusional investors holding onto pipe dream. Unfortunately they will be the last to leave and will lose the most.

I would really like to know why fluffy has not responded to my question in the main thread when I see him posting drivel on reddit. Has the team given up on BCT? Even smooth has been conspicuously absent recently. I figured it was the holiday weekend (US anyway) but now I wonder.

I have been busy and reduced time on forums. Not absent though. No idea about fluffypony, but I know he has not spent a lot of time on bitcointalk for quite a while and has been more active on reddit and twitter (and maybe others).
