1062  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / FreeBitcoins.webs.com is back! on: July 16, 2011, 06:34:30 PM
I made some big changes. Questions will be once a week, here. I can't leave our 100+ members with nothing so I set up a new system!

1063  Economy / Gambling / Re: Heads or Tails [Win 400% your initial bet!] on: July 16, 2011, 03:28:53 PM
I don't get it, if it's heads or tails then the possible win is 200% of your initial bet at max, right? Where's the other 200% coming from, do you flip two coins?
Your chance of winning is 50% but you can win 4X your bet..I think

That's what he just said. He's questioning how it can be a 4X payout if the odds are actually 50/50, because that would mean the house would be losing a significant amount of money. Therefore, the odds can't be 50/50 or the house would go broke, they must be worse.
I got it now  Grin

1068  Economy / Gambling / Re: BitLotto Aug 3 update thread - Win Est. 1,200 USD in BTC! on: July 16, 2011, 02:04:19 AM
So far the jackpot now: 25.49 BTC or 356.9 USD. Usually the first half of the month is the slowest.... Good luck to all those who entered!
How often is the jr one updated?
1069  Economy / Gambling / Re: New: BitLotto Jr - Weekly raffle with cheaper ticket prices (0.05 BTC) on: July 15, 2011, 10:17:16 PM
The Jr. website does throw a 404 for me atm.

In general I like a weekly drawing. But ticket prize of 0.05 might be to much hassle. I don't mind the 0.25 of the monthly one as almost all of it is going to the prize anyway. With the higher prize I will only buy 1 or 2 tickets. With 0.05 I can see many people buying a lot of tickets.
Doh. That's because I changed it to php instead of html so it shows to jackpot size. Should work now. If people buy a lot of 0.05 tickets that's ok hey? Since you would have only spent 0.05 and the jackpot could be high. Your risk vs winnings will always be a nice fit since it's a raffle.
Still doesn't work

EDIT: works now!

That would be cool. What can you make?

Here are my latest plugins. I have another in the plugin in the pipeline not in that page.

The only one good one there is the BTC Economy plugin.
I like the flip one too. If it works out I will use them!
1072  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Looking for bloggers on: July 15, 2011, 06:30:43 PM
I'm not a blogger, but I write bitcoin widgets for blogs.
That would be cool. What can you make?

College students:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uSM_FBMAas

I think I will stick with the silent ones for these "with the current feel" I will continue making these type and also other ones maybe longer. All of my current ones are 24 seconds long.

I think stick to the silent ones for now too.

However, the student one doesn't have a sound sound effect like the others. It might not seem much, but that one sound actually goes a long way to drawing people into the ad. I spent time wondering if my speakers were working, what happened to the sound, played it back again a couple of times to check if there was sound... and only then remembered to actually read the ad on the fifth or so attempt.

You don't want too much sound but, with only words and no images, you need a little something to distract people from the fact that they're having to read. lol

Also, not sure comparing bitcoin to credit is a wise move. Apart from the transaction fees, it's a bit like comparing apples to... beef jerky. People will not be getting bitcoin for the same reason they get credit (i.e. to buy shit the wouldn't otherwise be able to afford), and if they don't already know about bitcoin, they might think it's a just another cool way to get into debt (or get "cedit") but with less crippling interest which it isn't - as it's more like cash than debt.
I didn't put sound in that one  Undecided

Can we say it's free to use when they charge that .00005 fee?
1078  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Commercial on: July 15, 2011, 03:19:57 PM
How about a commercial along the lines of:

Visa hates it...
Mastercard hates it...
PayPal hates it...
Western Union hates it...

YOU will love it...

Bitcoin, an easier way to transfer funds, and much, much more.
I think if we said they are "afraid of it" no one wants to see trusted company's hate something but if they FEAR it that would be good.

1080  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Commercial on: July 15, 2011, 03:53:12 AM
Nice work. No bells or whistles. Simple and to the point. A series of about seven or so would make a nice little campaign.

For the buyer/consumer ad, not sure that unwrapping a gift is ideal (rustling paper on its own could mean anything). How about a simple "I'll take it!" No need for more than just one voice (sticking with the simplicity of the others), and one that's decisive rather than too giggly or excited.

I like the restraint in the use of audio, though it might be nice if they could each be bookended with another sound effect e.g., again for buyers, "I'll take it!" and then at the end, as somone already suggested, a doorbell, then, "package for Mr Nakamoto (or Smith or Jones...)" and then they might not seem to end so abruptly (although, personally, I don't have a problem with how they end).

Are you planning on editing further the two up on youtube (Travelers and Merchants) or are they the definitive ones so far? It would be nice to share them, but only if they're not going to be changed and replaced soon.
Not sure if I am replacing them yet
