1101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Last Resort for Unclaimed NXTs on: February 02, 2014, 05:29:39 PM
I retract my previous statement after some thought.

There is a good chance this poll will create some wishful thinking and afterwards resentment when we dó spend it all :/
1102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 02, 2014, 05:28:43 PM
Should we make a poll for that?

Yes, plz. Coz if the community doesn't come to a consensus even on this then the coins will be sent to the genesis. Smiley

Consider it done.

Here is the poll for the last resort of unclaimed coins.

It is JUST IN CASE the community cannot reach consensus on what to do with the 2.8 million unclaimed coins.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=445471

Be altruistic and enable poor account holders to utilize ~500NXTs to help the NXT community, just in case.

This poll is premature and completely unnecessary at this point. It will only cause confusion.

I can imagine a lot of people now wishing us not to spend to get some free Nxt in the future :/
1103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Last Resort for Unclaimed NXTs on: February 02, 2014, 05:26:54 PM
This proposed solution is dumb.

Should we rather give like 100 nxt to all nxters or actually build great marketing that has made the price skyrocket so far? It's not even a question that should require an answer.

We will find another solution, relax. Committee will get the NXT.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=445209.0

I am relaxed, I am just flabbergasted by the fact that this is still the thinking in the community.
We tried to form a committee weeks ago and then the main solution was "LETS BURN THE NXT Cheesy" and this time it's "LETS JUST SPRAY IT RANDOMLY"

I just simply cannot wrap my head around how this is the consensus of our community.

This is a "what íf" poll. Just in case the community truly can't reach consensus on what to do with it.
I am fairly sure it will be spent on projects instead.
1104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 02, 2014, 04:12:03 PM
- I propose to allocate 4 * 15k NXT from 10m unclaimed fund for 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th places in this contest.

All the participants did a good programming work, and they deserve a solid consolation prizes.
That would be great! I think not only marketing is important. IMHO all our programmers have to be supported.
I support this. It is very important to give more bounties for developers.

It's weird: Once we have discussed marketing for a few hours, the idea takes root that we want to spend all on marketing and once we discuss development for a few hours people start to think all Nxt is going there.

I think we are agreed that money needs to go to both and even to projects we haven't even thought of.

This kind of thinking just leads to an unnatural tension between elements that all are needed. No one is proposing to solely focus on one aspect of the whole plan.

This discussion keeps biting us in the ass because somehow we keep forgetting some of these things have been said already. Useless waste of energy.

So far I have seen no one here that wants to grab bucketloads of Nxt because it is fun. Every time someone asked for funding it was for a part of the project they believed in and put many many MANY hours in.

what did you think? this may be a dry run for something like letstalkbitcoin in the future. did i make any mistakes? did i say anything false?

I thought that u were going to stay anonymous, but u revealed ur name and ur face.

PS: I didn't listen to the interview coz I don't comprehend English speech. Smiley

lol anyone who cared could have figured out my identity. i never guarded it very carefully.

Just want to add my congratulations, too.
Very clearly explained and nice to see a face to Nxt Smiley

1106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 02, 2014, 03:04:22 PM

There is 200 Nxt especially for the conf. Other coins could be borrowed from the same acc from NxtMarketing, but it would be nice to give them back, because conferences have too high budget. There is already a loan for the radio spot (currently 250k). In past there were big discussions about funds, so I quickly published this acc, where I already had 100k before CFB's donation, so then I sent them to the different account.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AgAGADgnQcrtdHRrV3V3Z1lzOXVEMWtqdElUaEtqV1E#gid=15

Can you tell the community to which account you have sent 100k please thank you

please quote me he has me on ignore

have to quote myself:

100k missing in marketing account and no one cares?!

I think you are getting a bit overly worked up at the moment, even if the question is valid...

Can we have an answer to this, please?

Tempers are running a bit hot today.  Smiley
1107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 02, 2014, 02:49:39 PM
I just wanted to let people know that I made Salsacz an author on nxtcoins.nl, so he can take on the task of making summaries (daily? Up to him!) of what's going on with marketing.

I was quite shocked that a thread about the Berlin conference on nextcoin.org had gone unnoticed and today people were actually laying blame at some others for not starting soon enough.

I am nót laying blame, because this just points out we have an information problem.

The forums do not solve this apparently (I myself also don't use them that much, because they don't have the same "feel" to them as BCT) so I am jumping into that hole by giving Salsacz the space to do what I do for BCT. I don't have the time to do it myself. BCT summaries take 2 hours a day to make, so that's my limit at the moment Smiley.

I hope this will solve at least the information deficit that we have regarding projects on the marketing front.

I am willing to extend this to others who feel there should be a place for other topical summaries that tend to go unnoticed or other things that would be helped by being presented in a clear unbiased list form.

Hope this helps!  Smiley
1108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NXT] Community nominations to the funding comittee on: February 02, 2014, 01:28:06 PM
Good list.

Should we also vote on the number of people in the committee?

What do you think 7 or 9 ? we would also need some alternates.

I would say seven.
That means less talk and more action.
All on the list are trusted. As a committee they'd balance each other anyway.
If they can't decide thén they go back to the community, but only as a total last resort.

I also would prefer if they weren't under a constant need to justify their expenses in the short term.
Most of the things they need to do is long term, so let's give them trust and take a longer view than the one, two week one that has sometimes been seen.  Smiley

                       NXT FEATURE DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE:

This committee will be tasked with determining and implementing the most requested Nxt features.

Budget: 3 million Nxt

member: 7 Maximum

Sorry, what? A feature committee?

Nxt features.....multisig, service providers, decentralized auction, etc.

EDIT: sorry I meant subcommittee....like marketing committee...etc.

or we can have one big committee and they can divided it up as they see fit.

Ok, thanks for clarification. We should stick to one committee for this 10 Mio NXT which makes the polls etc.

Don't get into freaking detail and blah for this. Let us discuss, which people should be in it.
The committee gets the NXT, they do the polls. It is not THE committee for Nxt, it is one lousy committee for 10 Mio NXT. Don't freak out on that and let's do it.

We have brilliant and trustworthy people here. If they fuck up, well, then bye bye 10 Mio. NXT. But that's it. Better than babbling till April and CfB throws the NXT away.

Yes, please. The committee decided and acts. If it goes balls up, I'd rather have it that they tried than that we lose the 10 Mil because we couldn't even decide.
Sometimes you just have to JUMP in the knowledge that you can trust some people. Delegated authority etc.

Edit: We lose the 10 Mil anyway. Might as well be in spending than in meaningless destruction.
1110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 02, 2014, 12:49:53 PM
These are all ideas which could be discussed in the community. Where is the voting thread? Maybe there are not enough options to discuss. Let us first discuss, which can be done. Not in detail, just some roughly points.

edit: There it is https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=423241.20
edit: And https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=418695.0

Don't make me scream and cry! Wink

But yes, the community has already spoken. Smiley

pinarello: sorry, but since all you can do is just trolling and bullying (your annoying fighting against dgex (20+ posts), against emule (10+ posts), against marketing (5+posts)), then just welcome to the ignore list.

If you cannot read the googledoc, where are ALL payments from and for the NxtMarketing, then is is not my fault, it is quite simple to click at the link:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AgAGADgnQcrtdHRrV3V3Z1lzOXVEMWtqdElUaEtqV1E#gid=15

There was no partial payment from community funds, everything came from private donators

I am the only one guy who created a list of conferences, who created a list of people of conferences, who is constantly inviting people to the conferences and also who was trying to start to get the funding for the conferences. On the other hand is the only one guy who constantly cirtisez all that comes to the marketing etc

And you must learn to talk in less I and more we

I have made a video, I have made an article, I have made an document I have…. And repost it over and over

Sure if people ask critical questions about your expenses they get on your ignore list.

I know you wish to go to Amsterdam, I know you wish to go to Berlin, but we have talented people whom live there.

And if that is trolling ok fine

edit: I asume you will pay for yourself IF you go.

Bit late, but I think relevant.

I have no problems with someone being critical about funds, but as regards to marketing a critical mistake is made: it's treated the same as a technical funding.

When you fund a technical or development effort, it's easy to put measurable parameters: "If we spend X, we expect to get Y" and that is cold hard fact.

With marketing, especially at the start, this is very hard to do, and sometimes downright silly. Anyone who has any experience looking at marketing analytics knows that at some point you just can't say: "X happened because of Y".

That means that sometimes money is spent unnneccessarily. That's what bad marketeers do! And most people, I am sad to say, tend to judge marketing and PR by that standard.

The other side is, that marketing gets subjected to over-auditing.

I believe in this case, this is happening. I'll be blunt: if people want hard facts on what the result of marketing efforts like LTB minutes and conferences would be, you won't be able to get them. I can tell you that if you don't get good people out there, Nxt has a major problem.

Take the Miami conference. If you'd have audited Nifty and JustaBit up front about numbers, that would have been silly. Even now, when we know that they have made very good contacts, it's still silly. All they can say at this moment is that things are in the pipeline. If you take the hard line now, you'd say: "you don't get funding, because you don't have results". And that would mean they wouldn't be able to get those results.

I sense a large amount of distrust towards the marketing efforts from some corners. Distrust is something different from critical questions.

I'll be blunt once more: marketing at this point needs trust up front. That means funding without too many questions, based on the fact that you know some people who know what they are doing are taking care of it. I put it to you that some developers in here would get blind funding because of their reputation and there wouldn't be as many questions asked as there are of marketing.

Also, from a "division of power" perspective, I would be less than happy if the person who does the audit also is the person who takes the end decision about actual spending. That is putting jury and judge together.

I'm not going to beg for PR funds, but I do want people to know that I really dislike being put in a place where I feel I have to defend my talents and job and explain I'm not evil.

That's quite disappointing that there was a spot for us there and we didn't fill it. A big deal IMO. I didn't know we had a seat. Why wasn't this made a big deal, so we could rally up and make sure the spot was filled?

We really, really, really need representation for these type of things. Not being involved makes Nxt seem secondary to these other projects, when in reality were clearly ahead of them.

You were probably not reading the forum when 20 pages of posts covered the issue of the Miami panel, getting someone to Miami, getting someone APPROPRIATE to Miami, and then getting someone appropriate to Miami IN TIME FOR THE PANEL.

There was a herculean effort, and no winner... but the LTB gang is still willing to interview someone about Nxt this month.

Indeed, we were taken a bit by surprise but at that moment even tried to get opticalcarrier on the plane immediately.
It was too late alas.

You can see what happened from here and the following pages: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=345619.msg4708712#msg4708712

monthly?!

Edit: isn't that rather high? I mean that as a neutral question, not as an implicit statement that it ís high.

I want to leave here a big thank you to joefox and all the donors for the reward received by us wiki translators. Another special thank you to salsacz and Damelon specially for the brilliant job they're doing - whether it pays directly or indirectly to us supporters and small investors.

Man, I really wish I had assets for development or cryptography, or enough deep technical understanding to take on articles and start writing. Maybe some day I will... In the meantime, I'll start feeding quality translations, updates and contents for the spanish community (nxtspain.org, twitter/NXTSpain) and perhaps use my real assets in video production soon.

Thanks for the thanks Smiley
I'm well chuffed to work in such a dedicated team that uses what they have. We all bring to the table what we can and that is what eventually makes the whole machine go.

Hello marketing peoples!

Great job as always. I have some small budget now for marketing and it seems like we finally have more funds coming in. I am trying to shake loose the 3 million NXT from unclaimed NXT the community kind of agreed to.

Nobody complained about it, so I am hoping that most of what the NXT marketing group feels is critical will get funded first from direct donors, second from the 3 million unclaimed NXT. As long as the amounts are not crazy big, the NXTcommunityfund can be a funding of last resort.

What is the expected monthly budget for the critical marketing items?

James

As far as I understood my guy is willing to work for cost (so that means initial break even for some investments).
I don't know how much yet, but it will be low, as he has most of the contacts already.
So costs would probably mean the clothing items themselves. They actually WANT to be paid in Nxt as they think it will be a great investment. (apparently my sales pitch was good Wink )

I'm guessing total would be 20,000-30,000 Nxt at current exchange ratio (more is better of course, but that is the figure I kept in front of them this evening). That would be design, apparel and probably a few sites for promo thrown into the mix, because building promo sites is their core business and it would take almost no time to do for them.
1119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt marketing & promotion :: Nxt now on Cryptmarket! [articles bounties] on: February 01, 2014, 11:28:06 PM
@Damelon: Hello, scary clown.

Good news on the designing mate. Hope it works out. I've got a few good contacts on the printing side.
I'd like to see some NXT clothing for conference reps, and general sale.
Are u aware of any one who has made some good quaity NXT t-shirt/clothing prints so far?

No, not yet, that's why I am trying to get it done ASAP.

Would be great if we can work together and get a kit together for the people going to the conferences.

Then at least we know we will be recognisable at all conferences and the people going won't have to worry about it anymore.

I asked my friend to work on some proposals and he knows time is of the essence at this stage.

1120  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt marketing & promotion :: Nxt now on Cryptmarket! [articles bounties] on: February 01, 2014, 11:16:35 PM
Wow.

Just had a meeting with a design mate of mine, who after I explained about what I have been doing for the past month is very interested in Nxt. He works for a company that at the moment is growing very fast in the smartphone industry.

He is willing to invest his time and also in bringing in his collegue to design material for us and also has the contacts to create promo material for the conferences for us.

I will send him all the material that has been made tomorrow and ask him to come up with a quick draft of his work.

I'm going to work out a deal with them where they will offer to volunteer their services to give us promo and design support.

I'll try to get his designs on here as soon as possible so you guys can see if it's the way we want to go.  Smiley
