1101  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Welcome To The Blockchain (The Bitcoin Song) by Toby + Decap on: February 04, 2015, 07:36:12 AM
Cool song bro. I first heard it a few months ago when ibminer posted it in the What Song are you Listening To? thread. Probably the best Bitcoin anthem to date, although the video could definitely be improved upon. Any plans on making a better video for it? Cool

The last movie I watched was The Interview. They hate us cause they aint us. Cheesy

Laugh all you want, cuz it actually is funny as hell and also absolutely ridiculous, since the reality is that's exactly what our governments expect us to believe.  Roll Eyes

I've never won anything other than the odd coffee, muffin or doughnut, but I always 'play again' because I'm an obedient and loyal automaton. I always get a kick out of the morons that buy a round for everyone and say, "If you win, I get the prize." I haven't ever seen anyone quit their job after coffee break either.  Grin
1105  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 'Bitcoin Elite' to Gather on Secret Island for Bilderberg-Style Retreat on: February 04, 2015, 04:20:20 AM
People can bitch about this kind of thing all they like, they won't be able to do anything the way they traditionally have, that's what makes cryptocurrencies so different from paper and fractional reserve here's why:

1. Bitcoin is open source, people who rant that it can be controlled should be ignored, open source software can never be controlled

2. Cryptocurrencies are something that all sorts of unlikely allies have rallied around as it is a way to truly become free of the current financial system

3. There are literally hundreds of alternatives available so even if a group did manage to take over Bitcoin ( It has been discussed to death why it would be very difficult to do so and conspiracy nutters just choose to ignore this ) the many alternatives would quickly adapt to the problems caused here by said group attempting to monopolise and manipulate the currency

4. Because Bitcoin is open source, the code can be reviewed any time, therefore cryptocurrencies as a whole are extremly scrutinised and peer reviewed, any attempt on the part of developers to manipulate the currency through the code itself would be quickly spotted and countered

5. I have made a copy of the original source code before any changes were made just in case and put it in my hard drive a long with a couple of other early versions, no one will be able to attack cryptocurrencies as long as I draw breath as long as people take steps to protect themselves against this kind of thing our enemies will be able to do nothing against us

The art of war teaches us to rely not on the likelihood of the enemy's not coming, but on our own readiness to receive him; not on the chance of his not attacking, but rather on the fact that we have made our position unassailable. - Sun Tzu

I'm no financial or economic expert, but I think simply from a regulatory standpoint they can help to make or break the BTC market.

I like to live in middle earth for some time and bang some elvish princess.

Middle Earth is not a science fiction. lol

I would be perfectly happy living as a Hobbit (with an Elvish wife) in the Shire.  Smiley

What exactly this means for the Bitcoin community is unclear, but one can imagine some significant changes are on the horizon.

Satoshi Roundtable, to be held from 6th to 8th February, is suggestive of the famed Bilderberg conference, the annual meeting at which more than 100 finance experts gather in relative secret to the delight of global conspiracy theorists.

Organized by Bruce Fenton of the Bitcoin Association and Atlantic Financial, participants in the first annual Satoshi Roundtable include top executives from companies such as Blockchain, BitGo, BitPesa, Chain, ChangeTip, Coinapult and MegaBigPower, as well as noted VCs in the space such as Erik Voorhees and Roger Ver.

The event is openly exclusive, and as such, its official website cautions that only 50 members of the ecosystem will attend.

The website reads:

“Even if you are a great person with many accomplishments in bitcoin and lots of passion we just won’t likely be able to invite you.”

Quote
In a post, Fenton described the event as a “private dinner”, one in which participants will be able to “speak more freely” about the pressing issues facing the bitcoin space.

Fenton went on to talk about the challenges faced by those in the bitcoin ecosystem in this regard with more concrete examples.

“Many CEOs will not criticise regulators in a public event because they fear reprisals from the regulators. Another example is that some CEOs fear to attack known scams in public because they don't want attacks from scammers or to be associated with them (even as a critic) in the newspaper,” he wrote.

Fenton cited the need for open and honest dialogue on such subjects as one of the reasons it is closed to the public and the press.

What exactly this means for the Bitcoin community is unclear, but one can imagine some significant changes are on the horizon.

School suspends boy after he claims he'd make classmate invisible with "Hobbit" ring... and was suspended previously for calling an African American student at the school “black” and for bringing a children’s encyclopedia that had information about pregnancy to school.
Sounds to me like he's a real trouble maker and a real danger to society. Obviously, this bad seed deserves consideration for the death penalty.  At the very least this terrorist should be banned from being allowed to play on the school's Quidditch team forever and ever.  Roll Eyes
1110  Other / Off-topic / Re: Which anime do you like? on: February 03, 2015, 11:32:24 PM
My personal all-time favorite is 'Ghost in the Shell' (1995), but another one I liked was a sexy (ecchi) series called 'Queen's Blade' (2005-2008). Both Ghost in the Shell and Queen's Blade had later adaptations which I didn't really care for. I also like the Death Note series.

Check out this older thread to find some great anime and manga.

Any Adam Sandler movie made in the last 15 years.

Even though it's a chick flick, I really enjoyed 50 First Dates.

Ghost rider 2 - so bad you want to punch the screen Cheesy

Other than 'Leaving Las Vegas' (which I love) and 'Matchstick Men', I hate every movie Nicolas Cage ever made.

Although most people can agree on what a nightmare is, the definition of utopia varies from person to person. One person's utopia is another's dystopia.

Therefore, I actually cannot think of a single example of a truly utopian universe, although I must say the Star Trek universe comes pretty close. The films Idiocracy and The Matrix portray a couple of my favorite dystopian ones.
1113  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 'Designer babies' debate should start, scientists say on: February 03, 2015, 09:57:55 PM

MPs have voted in favour of the creation of babies with DNA from two women and one man, in an historic move.

The UK is now set to become the first country to introduce laws to allow the creation of babies from three people.

In a free vote in the Commons, 382 MPs were in favour and 128 against the technique that stops genetic diseases being passed from mother to child.

During the debate, ministers said the technique was "light at the end of a dark tunnel" for families.

A further vote is required in the House of Lords. It everything goes ahead then the first such baby could be born next year.

Proponents said the backing was "good news for progressive medicine" but critics say they will continue to fight against the technique that they say raises too many ethical and safety concerns.

Estimates suggest 150 three-person babies could be born each year.

Prime Minister David Cameron said: "We're not playing god here, we're just making sure that two parents who want a healthy baby can have one."

Life-saving

The method, which was developed in Newcastle, should help women like Sharon Bernardi, from Sunderland, who lost all seven of her children to mitochondrial disease.

Ms Bernadi said was "overwhelmed" by the decision.

A whole new take on "having a threesome".

This really could be a good thing if controlled properly.

That ended a world war!

I think it started it, in fact.

WW3 probably wont start with a nuke. it will build up to using nukes but until then it will be conventional warfare with maybe biological warfare too.

but any way being able to make your baby have a gene for intelligence is actually a huge step forward if we can make are children smart and athletic the human race will advance extremely fast.

You mean the "master race". Who's to say it's not already happening? The majority of people will not be able to afford this. Most likely (if not wiped out entirely) those that survive this class war will be downgraded to become a more docile workforce.

False Flags have existed for life. But even with all these facts out there, I still refuse to believe 9/11 was an inside job. Call me anything, my brain just refuses to believe that one.

Haha, there are no facts out there to suggest 9/11 was an inside job. It's all hearsay and speculation, none of it are facts.

The 'Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth' deal with the facts and are not interested in conspiracy theories. For them it's clear that the 911 Commission Report is a falsehood.

I kind of wanted to keep theories out of this thread, but since you brought it up I'll address it briefly.

9/11 being an inside job is indeed a hard pill to swallow, but not only have members of the US government admitted that the 9/11 attack was falsely used as a precursor for the war on Iraq, I believe there is overwhelming evidence to support the theory that the US government was behind it. There are so many suspicious circumstances regarding 9/11 (which I'm not about to list) for me there is no question it was indeed a false flag operation.

One thing though, you have to admit it's quite astonishing that over 2200 architects and engineers publicly deny the credibility of official 9/11 commision report and believe all three buildings collapsed due to controlled demolition.

I think this is the third thread about this topic where I've answered this question.

My friend got me into BTC and BCT.

BTW, why did you choose to moderate it?  Huh
1117  Other / Off-topic / Re: How many messages you have on: February 03, 2015, 06:20:06 AM
I'm currently at 19 messages - considering how long I've been in this forum, that's like a message and a half every month. Cheesy

I have 17 messages in Inbox, one of them is a message that saying: "A reply of yours, quoted below, was deleted by a Bitcoin Forum moderator." Cheesy

LOL, that's nothing. When I was newbie I got 17 or so messages in a span of about 2 mins regarding my posts being deleted when a mod checked my post history.  Cheesy

My first message was also one of those. Smiley

Out of curiosity: do we receive those messages each and every time one of our posts is deleted? I'm assuming that's not the case, as I believe I've had posts disappear without warning before, though I suspect those were due to whole threads being deleted.

If a thread is deleted you won't get any message. If a mod deletes your post you will.

I wish the message was less generic and that you get one that specifically states the reason for it being deleted. Otherwise you are likely to commit the same offense without knowing it.

What's the point of lists like this?  Just because people are more aware hasn't really changed anything.

A skeptical and educated public is less likely to blindly support initiatives proposed under false pretenses by their government and agencies. Awareness has in the very least helped protesters from falling victim to this tactic.

I just see that thepiratebay.se is back again, which is great news of course.

The only downside is that I don't trust any upload since the old crew is not active anymore.

For that reason I will continue with kickass.so

Same here. I'm quite happy with kickass.so and will continue using it.

kickass has no ads with tits and hot girls.

I will go back to pirate bay

I use ad and pop-up blockers and have never been happier. There's enough tits and ass on the internet without being subjected to the relentless bombardment of unwanted ads and pop-ups.
