11001  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: TransferWise shut down my account and took all my money, what now? on: August 07, 2017, 07:53:13 PM
In Great Britain it seems a little bit harder to find a good alternative.

Fidor operates in the UK now, but their accounts are missing quite a few regular banking features at present.

Other than that I've heard that Nationwide is the least crypto hostile mainstream operation, but that could change.
11002  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 07, 2017, 07:47:55 PM
There is a strong correlation between high IQ and wealth.

I don't see how all humans from all cultures could score the same unless they were all trained to process in the same way too. As IQs are rising generation by generation then it must be a cultural thing rather than a biological thing. You don't evolve more intelligence in one generation.

From a certain perspective, high IQ means high potential. But potential needs to be realized to be useful, and dumb people simply have a much lower bar to a functional life within their limits. Get your life sorted.

Yes. The most intelligent person I've known by far spent her days paralysed with inertia on a couch. Three first degrees didn't seem to bring any success, or rather any interest in pursuing it.

And my life is fine. I'm off to test out a new toilet somewhere interesting tomorrow.
11003  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 07, 2017, 07:41:38 PM
"pass IQ tests"? since when can you fail a IQ test?

If I had scored 85, which I probably would these days, I would personally consider that a fail.
11004  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 07, 2017, 07:35:19 PM

My IQ was properly measured when I was a youngling at 160. I spend most of my days staring at a bush and worrying about my next visit to the toilet. The only thing IQ indicates is the ability to pass IQ tests.
11005  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: August 07, 2017, 07:27:51 PM
Was this coin distributed as an airdrop in the beginning?

The very first people to express an interest got free stakes. Then it moved on to a pretty piddling amount. I think it was 0.045 BTC. That might have risen as more people got on board but I think the total amount gathered was only about 65 BTC.
11006  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Xapo kicked out because of twice wrong ID verification on: August 07, 2017, 07:14:40 PM
If I remember rightly I had to re verify a couple of times too.

If you have a phone you can do it through the Xapo app which turned out be more successful for me. I think it prompts you to photograph your documents through the app on the phone and upload them there and then. You also take a selfie which may inspire them to look more kindly upon you.
11007  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: August 07, 2017, 06:49:50 PM
do you think nem up price 1usd? in yobit nem have price 0.74

That's very strange. And only 0.9 BTC volume. I suppose it's not shitty enough to interest Yobit traders.

Edit - you can't deposit to it so it's in a little world of its own.
11008  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cashing out to GBP on: August 07, 2017, 06:08:16 PM
Europe is a continent and the UK are not leaving the continent to join another continent or make up our own continent.

Give it a few months more turmoil. Maybe Donny will tow us to the East coast so he can sell us more mutant chickens.
11009  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cashing out to GBP on: August 07, 2017, 05:38:45 PM
@Gentlemand - can you tell me what OTC is? I've googled and I'm not 100% and the forum search isn't working for me.

OTC = Over The Counter. A broker pairs you with a buyer and the sale happens between both parties. You don't have to dick around with exchanges flaking out. This is how the really deep pockets take positions in BTC without moving the price. The exchanges are too small.

I'm not totally sure who the biggest OTC broker is in the UK. I would probably start here - https://www.coinfloor.co.uk/over-the-counter and ignore the institutional bit, they've offered this to regular folks too.

The biggest US operations will be - https://genesistrading.com/   and - https://cumberlandmining.com/  and I assume they can do things with UK banking.

I've also come across a couple of Brits using this  https://gemini.com/areas-of-operation/ and wiring money back to the UK but that must be expensive and slow. They also do a daily auction which is semi OTC ish in nature.
11010  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cashing out to GBP on: August 07, 2017, 03:07:08 PM
It depends on the amounts.

For sheer convenience I'd go for withdrawing cash from a Bitcoin debit card like Xapo or Bitpay. There may be a small loss on the rate but at least there's no risk of your bank getting arsey. I've got both and they work perfectly.

Bitpay fixes the BTC rate when you deposit it. Xapo fixes it when you actually spend or withdraw it.

Other than that many people open a Fidor UK account and withdraw to it from Kraken. Forget the GBP market on Kraken, only use the EUR one and convert with Fidor.

For larger amounts I'd forget exchanges and look into an OTC trade rather than an exchange and either alert your bank beforehand or open a separate account just in case.

It's bleeding pathetic that the UK is still such a desert for this.

11011  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: TransferWise shut down my account and took all my money, what now? on: August 07, 2017, 12:36:13 PM
Transferwise started off being positive about Bitcoin, but they have to protect their banking relationships and that's far more important to them than a dribble of BTC business. Bitcoin causes them, or rather many of their banks, too many potential regulatory head aches to touch.

I've never heard of a legit business, and Transferwise certainly is one, keeping anyone's money. They'll return it to you. Keep contacting them and if they stay silent then get a lawyer on to it.

Before you do that though hit them up on Twitter. Companies are usually much more responsive on there.

11012  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: August 07, 2017, 12:27:28 PM
Today it was announce officialy that NEM become main sponsor of BC Lietuvos rytas. They will pay €500 000 in upcoming season. Also, they are planning to spread their business in Vilnius. It's a good deal for both sides, club will get financial support and NEM will get good publicity, because basketball is no.1 sports in Lithuania and also club will play in international competitions, so, NEM advertisements will be visible around whole Europe.

How odd. The 'Bitcoin Bowl' didn't exactly set the world on fire.

For that sum you may well get a postage stamp on an F1 car. That would open up opportunities for some real heavyweight networking.

Esports is the one where crypto should be headed. That's a vast audience with inbuilt knowledge.

Is there anything that makes you truly happy R0ach? Like overflowing with joy happy?

The fear on a young yiddisher's face as he sticks his tongue out at it from his high chair before his carer can stuff it back in. Then he starts smacking his hockey helmet against the wall.
11014  Economy / Speculation / Re: Road to $10,000 How Bitcoin Price Broke $3,000 and What’s Ahead on: August 07, 2017, 01:23:25 AM
“Now that the Bitcoin civil war is over, I think we'll see a rapid influx of investors that had sold off in July rushing back into the market. Goldman Sachs has predicted that Bitcoin is headed for $3,700, and it seems we're well on the way there.”

It isn't yet. Let's see what happens with 2X in November and Bitcoin Cash between now and then before declaring the end of hostilities. When all of that truly is cleared up and the innovations start arriving we might well reach some eye watering price levels.
11015  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hodor the BTC! 1BTC = $100,000 in 10 years! on: August 07, 2017, 01:08:30 AM
The price of 100,000 dollars is very big amount and I think the chances of they reach that is 1 percent only . Because if the bitcoin price reach 10k dollars i think many people would sell their bitcoin.  For me the highest price of bitcoin maybe around 10k upto 20k dollars and it takes more few years before they reach that amount. But everything is possible to happen. We dont know what is the exact price of bitcoin in the future.

Nope. $1 million is the truly stupid amount.

$100,000 is conceivable. Remember the price is set by a few tens or hundreds of thousands of coins available on exchanges. It wouldn't take much for sellers to go on strike either if demand was that powerful.

That would still make it considerably smaller than gold.

What do you mean get negative trust?Buying and Selling accounts is absolutely legal on this forum.

And so is leaving negative trust. It seems fair enough to forewarn people that an account has been sold if it's doing something potentially nefarious.

Check the account selling section. Plenty of people get nailed for it by other members.
11018  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: are bitcointalk accounts worth money on: August 06, 2017, 02:47:20 PM
Sadly the ones that go for the most are those that have earned the most trust on here.

There've been a few cases of blatantly sold accounts launching crappy alts that cleaned out the 'investors' and others doing trades and taking loans with the intention of scamming.

Rep is all here so if you can buy an account with good rep that cuts out years of work. You can do a lot of damage with such an account if you're so inclined and not caught out.
11019  Other / Meta / Re: Where I can read about history of bitcointalk forum? on: August 06, 2017, 02:17:50 PM
There are mobile versions but not many people seem to know about them.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?;wap2

https://bitcointalk.org/?imode

I think they're pretty ancient.

There's been new forum software in the works for years and years and years. Who knows whether it'll ever arrive.

It has its own section here - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=167.0
11020  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Sexbots. Will you be indulging? on: August 06, 2017, 02:00:41 PM
Obviously not, because it will inhibit population growth whereas human beings are social beings and humans are creatures in pairs

Yes, I agree with your opinion this, true man is a social creature and also creatures in pairs, therefore I agree.

Inhibiting population growth is one of the most vital things the human race can do to preserve an acceptable way of life.

Every baby that pops out will produce a lake of effluence, a mountain of waste, a gigaton of emissions and it eats way through tons of wastefully produced food.
