It wouldn't be done because that would actually break the "immutability", all the transactions would be rolled back. DAO case was a special case with ETH locked away for 1 month. @dinofelis you're not worth reading, sorry for your effort.
Yes. The DAO was treated as a special case. Now the other start ups could ask the same question. What made the DAO a special case? How can the others be treated in the same why? It is not fair. Vitalik started a problem that he cannot fix. The only fix for it is for him to step down and disband the Ethereum Foundation.

@rizzlarolla. Thank you for doing this. Check this account https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=639604The biggest takeaway with these farmed accounts are the no. of posts and their activity are the same or almost the same. They join signature campaigns as an added incentive but I speculate that the main objective for these farmers is to sell those accounts.

Ok, let's relax for a moment. All Lisk Community need it. --~^^^~--
Lisk story.
Why good to wait and hold Lisk? That is funny. But no one promised you that you will become rich by investing in Lisk. What was promised was a platform for smart contracts that can be written using Javascript. While it is possible to wait and finish a life time before LSK takes BTC's spot in market cap it is more possible that it will not happen. But what is most possible is that the platform will have working smart contracts as early as next year. Profits in your investment should be considered a bonus.

Can someone explain to me how chain blender works in vcash and what are the pros and cons of this compared to ring signatures and zcash's zero knowledge proof? I tried to find information about chain blender but I could not find any.
With all the crazy hype with anonymity in cryptocoins I think now is a good time to research about every top anonymous coin out there. For me they are vcash, zcash and Monero.

Fair enough. But monero also merged fixes done by zoidberg in boolberry. Does that make boolberry a testbed for monero?
I don't think that AEON is just about trying stuff out to see if it works and can be ported to monero. Am I mistaken?
You are not mistaken. It is a separate coin with its own identity. The "testbed" idea comes about because being much smaller and with a stated purpose that is more experimental in nature (though this does not mean we will implement every stupid idea just because it is "experimental") mean that some things like pruning are hard forks are easier to pull off and more likely to happen here. But that doesn't make it just about porting things to Monero. As someone else noted a few comments back, both are open source and free to exchange ideas and code whenever it makes sense to do so. Would that mean Aeon that will be more cutting edge in the future? I can also see that it would be better for Monero to have Aeon as a test bed in a real chain in a real world setting than testing it in a Monero test net. If you are a speculator and want to see what is in store for XMR, you must check out Aeon's github first.

@digicoin. Was a timeline mentioned in the road map? I do not think there was so when you said that those features will come at the end of the year, I assume that you are making a guess?
I do agree that the first stable version of the SDK will be a big boost for the platform in dapp creation. But for me after seeing what happened to Ethereum I would be happy if they took their time until they are sure that their releases are safe and secure.

I find it hard to believe in this person now. After everything they did and tried to do with ETC now they are changing their opinion? This is fishy. I speculate that Vitalik and some insiders have begun buying ETC or better, they now have the intention to split their ETH the the equivalent amount of ETC before they fix the replay attack issue. I am sorry if I sound very cynical but I really do and it is not my fault. They should have done better in the past and dealt with everything with transparency.
|
|
|
Is it not that ETC is the original chain and ETH is the fork?
Yes. how can it be called a scam chain when it was Vitalik himself who created it?
Haha. That's lulzy. How many $ you think Vitalik lost in the DAO implosion? Nothing. That is why I think the person I was replying to got it mixed up. He said that ETC was the scam chain and that ETH is not. But is it not that ETH is the fork that has rolled back transactions and ETC is the original and an untouched blockchain? Then how could ETC be the scam? It did nothing but live on because there are still some supporters who believe in it.

You mean future price appreciation? That is hard to say because we do not have inside information. In hindsight the biggest was ETH and there are many who say that XMR will also follow ETH's footsteps to moondom.

What is their most liquid coins traded? I speculate that those will go down in price when the news that it was hacked will spread like wild fire. It is also important to know if their market is really that big enough to affect the whole cryptosphere. If it is not then there is nothing to worry about.
I am curious. What made you trade there?

Hard fork happened because people like me voted for it and decided that it was better than not hard forking it, simple. "Immutability", a word thrown around so often lately, was never sacrificed with hard fork, since only the tumor was removed, no other transaction. I bet people / developers wished having the option to do HF's like this, with no other transaction being rolled, but this was a special case, ETH was locked away. And these ETC supporters, they like to use "immutability" as a reason for supporting ETC because for most of them, ETC is speculation. They missed early ETH days so they now simply bet on ETC, like barry shilbert. Im curious, do you really believe that guy didnt dump his bag yet ? Has he shown any proof of what he has ? Did he respond to https://twitter.com/barrysilbert/status/762312144411058177 ? Ofc he didnt, he's just using his influence to speculate. Pro tip: whatever these "influencial" people tell everyone they do, DON'T do the same, you're either already late or they're doing the opposite they say. Just like chandler guo, that guy doesn't give shit about ETC. Let us say Augur already launched and it is very successful. There are now millions flowing in and out of the Augur dapp and then the unexpected happens, $50 million in ETH was stolen because of a bug in the dapp. Now the founders of Augur has a case for requesting for a roll back in transactions so that they could get all the customers' ETH back. It would be unfair not to get back their $50 million while the slock.it team's DAO get their millions back. How will that be viewed by everyone? I know you will say the "community" will vote for it and leave it to them. Ok but what if that dapp belonged to a consortium of banks? Would they allow the "community" to put it in a vote? I think they could get Vitalik and twist his arm until they get their fork and their millions back. The next question is how many Ethereums would there be after another fork?

Steem is done for. If you are honestly expect something positive of this project after that pyramid revelations hit public
What they did is the exact same thing as issuing an IPO, just with a loophole to avoid legal issues of IPOs. Due to this fact, you either have to place all IPO people in the category of scammers, or none of them. It's kind of a binary option here. An IPO is basically a pyramid scheme by definition, though lol. That is true. The situation in the cryptosphere now is comparable to the situation of the internet boom at the end of the 1990's. I was only a 12 year old kid back then but you would see in the news that many young people have become millionaires because their company did an IPO. Years later we all find out that most of those companies have no earnings and cash flow. They were all based only on ideas and hope just like the cryptosphere.

Why not use Multidoge. It is easy to use and it syncs fast. No need to download the whole blockchain. If you have used Multibit before then you will have no problem using Multidoge because they are very identical.

There was a statement by someone that it is good if the founders powered down and got rid of their coins. It will mean that they will have less influence in the platform. Then there is the statement from the other side that says that they are selling because the founders want to exit from the platform making millions of dollars.
I do not know who to believe. Also looking at the falling price it would be good to avoid buying Steem if you are an investor. I speculate this will continue for a long time.

Ring signatures are better than master nodes. It is better to look under the hood and try to understand how it works. I am not a technical person but a quick google search and 2 to 3 hours of reading all the articles and comments from each side it would be easy to see which is better. The answer is right there in front of you. I also did not know that research and implementations of ring signatures started on 2001. It was wise for the Monero development team to use it in their cryptocoin to find answers in unanswered questions since 2001.

Any news if they will still release it with the "trusted set up"? Was there a solution proposed to amend it? I feel that zcash will also be mired with its own set of controversies because of the "trusted set up" issue. There will always be doubts about it and that is a way for people to FUD the coin if it is not changed. The development team are known people with the who's who in the cryptosphere so it would be a risk if the trust and confidence in them is lost.

if it breaks the 270k line we are going up, until then we still in a downtrend.
PS: i have a bag of ETC, i still believe in this coin... yet, this isnt the best price to buy.
What is your basis for that statement? Why the 270k satoshi line? Why not the 250k satoshi line? There is a pump in ETC now but I speculate it will continue to be flat or go down after this. It is only moving up because there are people taking advantage of the news that the ETC from the white hat hackers will be transferred to a withdraw contract. After that good news has died down what will be next? The miners will still continue to sell their coins down in the market.

There is no continued rise, the dump will happen. At this moment we are all playing roulette on when it will all come down. The thing that is keeping the price up is the hype around DNM adoption.
Come Sept 1, when DNM Oasis and AlphaBay both starting using XMR... if for some reason we low volume or lower than expected usage I can see the price come tumbling down. But from now to Sept 1st everyone is riding the hype train and it is much harder to manipulate the price down.
So... Any news on this? Are volumes holding up, are people actually using this thing? Out of all listings on Alphabay, which add up to 46878 at the time of this post, 2561 accept Monero already. This is roughly 5.5%. Vendors are conducting 'experiments' by accepting Monero only on few of their listings, to see if there is any interest. We should see rapid adoption when (and if) people start using XMR to buy stuff. It is funny because I am thinking which Monero holders will now buy drugs on Alphabay. The best move for the Monero team right now is to set up more infrastructure to buy XMR easier for those people who are interested. It would be better for more shapeshift type of service where the buyer can be anonymous. So maybe a service like localbitcoins for the darknet is a good idea.

Hmm. An upgraded brave like application. This is cool. The best part would be they will be helping each other and that is a good sign IMO.
could be bitcoin killer app, who knows, time will tell. Good that people work in this direction. It could be. But most bitcoin apps fail even the apps that looked like they would be the "killer app". The biggest disappointment for me is bitsquare. It is the perfect exchange for cryptocoins and many people here wanted a decentralized exchange. But are they using it? No.

What about vcash? I read that they have something called "chain blender" that also anonymizes transactions but I have not read about it thoroughly. Maybe that should also be included in the list?
