...

You mean to say when I use the light wallet I would also have to open simplewallet.exe in the console at the same time? I do not get it. I thought you only open the light wallet and do everything from there.

Lightwallet uses simplewallet behind the scenes, but you shouldn't have to do anything special to get it to save. After it completes the sync it will issue a save command every few minutes, or there is a button to save it on the wallet tab. Initially it says "Not saved Sad" in red, but should change to something green when it successfully stores the wallet.

Yes it said that it already saved and the color changed to green. So I closed the wallet and the reopened it then it started to sync again from 0. I was using Windows 64bit. Maybe it needs a little tweaking. Anyway I will try again using Linux later tonight if I have the time.

Why does the light wallet not save the state after it has fully synced? After syncing I close the light client and the opened it again and it was syncing again starting from 0.

can u provide more info? light client? version number? os?

I used version 0.2 that I have downloaded here https://getmonero.org/getting-started/choose

I am using Windows 7 64bit. Do you have any idea what is going wrong with it?

You have to exit simplewallet gracefully by typing
Code:
exit
as command. If you don't do this the "state" will not be saved into the wallet cache.

11004  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LSK] Lisk | Blockchain Application Platform for JavaScript Developers on: August 27, 2016, 12:37:05 PM
I think people are overreacting to the whole whale thing. Despite different schemes to try to engineer a different distribution, any healthy currency is going to eventually settle into a Pareto Distribution, the 80-20 rule, where 20% of the holders will own 80% of the currency.

Pareto Distribution will really be good but we all know that is not going to happen in reality. Humans are by nature greedy and deceptive when it comes to wealth accumulation. It has been proven again and again in history even in the time of the Sumerians the first human civilization. The distribution of wealth always go to the top 10% rich elite and they end up controlling almost 90% of the wealth.
11005  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: August 27, 2016, 12:30:32 PM
I am really disappointed with the way Sasha is running development. It is like there is always something wrong with all the endless excuses and surprises. This is not a good sign and we have seen other projects like Augur that have collected funds from the community but has nothing released until now.

What is really wrong with the development? Can someone straight from the development team talk to us?

11007  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Lisk Price Discussion on: August 27, 2016, 11:58:51 AM
No. Yesterday there he was again making the well wall at 45k satoshis. When someone bought 100k LSK from his wall he immediately removed the wall. So that means he does not want to lose his LSK. If he dumps his LSK to make it go down to 5k then he is only making it hard form himself to recoup those LSK without suffering a big loss.
11008  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Has NXTs price peaked? on: August 27, 2016, 11:54:56 AM
I speculate that Ardor will not fly. It will also be like NXT where there is an initial interest and then after that the interest will wane and the coin will go nowhere in price. Maybe the grassroots model will not work with what they are trying to achieve. The market they are trying to reach is for companies and start ups to use their platform. The problem is maybe those companies they are after think that the NXT platform is not good enough for what those companies require?

The better road for the grassroots model is to go after the darknet market. It has been proven successful with bitcoin and now recently XMR is trying to penetrate the darknet. Maybe NXT/Ardor should too.

XMR and Ardor aren't even remotely comparable. One is a value transfer system, the other is a Blockchain-as-a-service solution.

So what real world use case does NXT and Ardor have that will make the people actually use it? We have seen this from the platforms of before. They create and build something but then what?
11009  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Litecoin: Prepare on: August 27, 2016, 11:48:55 AM
Good luck dballing. If it cannot go to $150 on 2017 there is always next year and the next after that. A man has the right to hope, right?

But to be serious XMR is beating LTC in the race. With the acceptance of XMR as payment for the darknet market, it is following BTC's footsteps. Will XMR replace bitcoin? No but it will be the 2nd most used. Not only used in trading at the exchanges but actual use in buying goods and services very much like real money.
11010  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How and why Steem failed ? on: August 27, 2016, 11:39:00 AM
The development team of Steem should look for the areas where they should improve their product. The earners of Steem sell their coins immediately because what use is it to them except to sell for bitcoins. This trend will continue until the developers can think of a way to make their users stop selling and start holding. Maybe make it anonymous and have the darkmarket accept Steem for payment. Cheesy
11011  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Synereo same ponzi scam like Steem? on: August 27, 2016, 11:20:58 AM
. Also AMP has a large premine like 90%, afaik

I don't think there was any mining at all. It's Proof Of Stake. Like NXT , NEM etc all coins exist from the genesis and are distributed by the devs through ICOs or given away through bounties or allocated for specific needs.
I think by the time it launches AMP should have better distribution than STEEM did (80% of steem was in the hands of few ppl), although best to keep an eye on how the AMP distribution continues. I think they have a spreadsheet somewhere which they update but should be on their website for anyone to see.
I think it's ok for devs to have a sizeable chunk of the coins (for development funds & vested interest), but everything needs to be transparent.

Synereo is actually an OMNI bitcoin token. No mining at all yet. The blockchain isn't set to coming out for another year. This is the same strategy that I'm taking with my popular App that's turning into an AppCoin.

If it is not released for another whole year then it would be safer to stay away. We still do not know where the developers really doing with the platform. First it was a decentralized social media and then it is now also a platform for smart contracts and they are now organizing another ICO this September? For me to invest for the longterm with them they must be trustworthy and it would help if the known honest people in this forum would comment about them and what they think of them.

It is very hard to find out the truth in this forum because people make lies and talk bad about the coins they do not hold.

You obviously haven't listened to the weekly hangout sessions.  Synereo is a technology stack which is capable of hosting a social media network along with plethora of other applications and dApps which are all interconnected via the underlying architecture and AMP blockchain.  The future crowdsales were planned in advance of the first crowdsale back in April 2015.  So far the devs have delivered on their promises.  If you don't believe me, go listen to their hangout sessions on YouTube or join them on slack.  They are 100% transparent about everything they do.

Ok I believe you. But of course forgive me for having my doubts. We have seen many promising ideas in the cryptosphere and almost none of them have given the community something solid. Or maybe a person can say none of them brought something that has a use case. The latest of these high profile failures is Ethereum and we will not even count the smaller projects.

Maybe Synereo is different. Maybe it will deliver as promised and be everything it has said to be. But until I see the nodes online verifying transactions, I will be careful and I will not commit.
11012  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can coins like Monero challenge Bitcoin? on: August 27, 2016, 11:10:24 AM
I can see something happening where XMR will be in the running to replace bitcoin. The people in the cryptosphere have always been looking for a new coin they can support. Why? Because for some people bitcoin is trying to be what it should not be. It is trying to be in the mainstream and in the process it has been corrupted by the people who want to take it there. Do you think those people really care about bitcoin? Do you think the Winklevoss twins are in it because they want to change the world and disrupt banks? No they are there for the money.

11013  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How and why Steem failed ? on: August 27, 2016, 04:27:10 AM
At some point, everyone was talking about it, I've even seen people in the introduction section writing how they quit their full-time jobs, etc... just to stay with Steem and now, It's pretty much gone with ~100m $ market cap while It was almost 300m $

Those are clearly hype and attempts for those users to get their post upvoted. Their plan all along is to get as much Steem as possible and then cash out as soon as possible. That is what is happening right now and it will go on until the price of Steem is very low and also until the hype is gone.

I pity the people who believed in it and are holding Steem Power right now. They are stuck for 2 years while watching Steem falling down really fast. I must be torture. Watch the video of Tai Zen on Youtube, he is clearly very concerned about the situation but still does not believe and accept that the model Steem is following might be flawed.
11014  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Leading Dark Net Markets to Support Monero on: August 27, 2016, 04:14:09 AM
just wait for the FBI to announce that they cannot trace transactions from XMR dealings. then we will see some craaaaazy panic buying again

How about they just make it a felony to own Monero, or any other anon coin?
Thats what I see coming, sooner than later.
How about its just a project pushed by some three letter agency, to attract and track down people who have a business interest in anon coins?

That is a very dangerous proposition. Not for the XMR users but for the lawyers who want to prosecute. Cheesy I dare all the governments around the world to make the use of XMR a felony. They will be in for a whole legal quagmire.

You talk as if it is as simple as that.
11015  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Could Monero replace Bitcoin soon? on: August 27, 2016, 04:08:29 AM
...

Do you think that world powers will allow to use XMR on their territory ?
They will alow if they control it. When switzland doesn want to release info about some money transfers then some sad men
comes to Switzland and they have convinced them to make changes i guess they had "good" arguments.
Today because of money loudering you have more restricted laws when it will be needed all XMR exchanges will go down
they will impose good law and they will shut it down. XMR would exist p2p but you wont get any fiat window for it that will couse hard drop in volume.
If you want challenge a biggest superpowers and help terrorists with XMR you are on loose side.
And big Russia and China they don't want to much freedom for their people and XMR is problem for them too.
If XMR will be popular in terrorists group it will be shut down.

XMR cannot replace bitcoin but it is possible that it will gain a popularity as big as bitcoin. The darknet will be a catalyst of this. I speculate that XMR will later be considered the unofficial "official" currency of the darknet. That is a big market that will later amount to the billions of $. We will see drug cartels, terrorists, money launderers and other people who want complete privacy of their transactions to use XMR.

The problem is to get to fiat. That is where XMR and BTC will get their synergy. To use one, you have to use the other. I believe BTC will still be relevant because it will be the gateway and store of value coin for a long time together with XMR as the daily transaction coin that keeps everything you do with it private and secure.

The roadmap is not very impressive and overwhelming. I wish Max Kordek could give the Lisk supporters something more. Maybe he is going against the trend where most developers from other platforms would make it very colorful with a lot of promises. That could be a wise decision.
11018  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Facebook About to Get ‘Myspaced’ by Next-Gen Social Media? on: August 27, 2016, 03:38:49 AM
Facebook is currently worth about $400-$450 billion, which is like 30-35 times the entire crypto market. I believe that if FB accept something as a threat, they'll just buy it or ruin it. Keep in mind that not only Zuckerberg is behind Facebook. Wink Same applies for google.

Some of us remember the rise and fall of AOL.  Wink

Zuckerberg will remember this well because he is the one that "Myspaced" the competition. In my opinion he is not to be underestimated because he might already be doing his research about cryptocurrencies. It was the Winklevoss twins that gave him the idea to create facebook and with them having interest and speculating in bitcoin, there is the possibility he knows what it is all about and how it will affect the whole world.
11019  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Darknet markets accepting Monero on: August 27, 2016, 03:25:38 AM
It was quite confusing that why those darknet sites chooses monero as they could have choosen any other like litecoin, dogecoin etc or even ETC, ETH but they choose monero. Do any one have knowledge or explain why monero is better suited than litecoin, dogecoin, etc, eth for darknet?

Why not? It is anonymous so no need for mixers and tumblers, the volume is ok so it is easier to convert to bitcoin. XMR is perfectly tailored for the darknet and you cannot argue with that.
11020  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH gets roasted and ETC gets support in Max Keiser's show on: August 27, 2016, 03:12:17 AM
I don't think this is the end for ETC. The DAO hacker can't dump his ETC without much volume and I don't think he wants to dump all his ETC so cheaply.
He should have lots of btc by now so it would not difficult for him to pump ETC before slowly distributing his ETC to people at a high price.

How can he dump if he really wants to? The address where all the ETC is stored is public right? It would be easy to track his movements. If those coins go to an exchange the attacker is risking to get them frozen.
