11441  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WHo will win - ETH or ETC? on: August 04, 2016, 01:48:37 AM
I voted for ETH, not because I am a fan of ETH nor from ETC, just because ETH has still a strong support by businesses and many other projects building apps on the chain. However, it is hard to say now who will be the better one. I also think there is space for both projects.

Does the forked chain really have strong support by businesses and many other projects? I do not think they made official public announcements to the public giving confidence to Vitalik's chain. Most of the businesses are now refusing to comment and are trying to stay away from all the news. The only businesses that said something in public are Coinbase and BTCe. Some people think their plan is to not allow their users to get ETC and will get it for themselves.
11442  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Safe Cryptocurrency on: August 04, 2016, 01:17:40 AM
A safe cryptocurrency is an oxymoron.

If you mean safe as in it won't be hacked, 51% attacked, stolen, forked, or otherwise negatively affected? If so, then try precious metals.

But where will you hide you precious metals? In a bank vault? They are not safe too. In your house? Is it safe there? Robbers can come in and get them. Maybe "safe" is an oxymoron.
11443  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Security breach Bitfinex on: August 04, 2016, 01:12:27 AM
Just another example of why not to leave funds on an exchange for extended lengths of time.

I feel bad for those who lost out, I hope the amounts were minimal and Bitfinex is able to make everyone whole.

I cant believe i'm still surprised at this whole hacking thing but i actually am.
Thought their security was pretty tight nowadays after their last hack from some time ago ....

It should be. After all the exchange hacks that have occurred in the history of bitcoin, it is funny that the exchanges today have not learned anything. Maybe some exchanges are set up and are running some sort of "long con" now? I do not know if it is just me but I am not comfortable keeping my money in an exchange based in Asia.
11444  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LSK] Lisk | Blockchain Application Platform for JavaScript Developers on: August 03, 2016, 06:34:02 AM
I am discouraged by the price of Lisk. Sad Even with bitcoin going down LSK is also going down. Lisk should take advantage of the fall of bitcoins because a weak bitcoin can mean that people will look elsewhere to invest their money. Sadly it is not the case. Lisk has missed 2 opportunities. The fall of ETH and the fall of BTC. Both of those situations should be seen as opportunities for the Lisk team to double their efforts to make the project known.
ETC is falling quite rapidly this morning, so maybe people will return to Lisk, ETC is very volatile and affecting many other coins. I bought some LSK at a very low price last night and it was already back to 40k by this morning.

Yes but the trend is down. I am speculating that it is better to wait rather than to buy right now. We are seeing that there are anxious people dumping there coins they got from the ICO. They might be thinking now is a good time to sell while there is still profit because this could go near the ICO price value. If that happens expect more dumping.

Ok. Thank you for the tip. I use them sometimes for small bets in F1 races. Now that I know their policy I will try to avoid them. So where will you advice the people to go if they want to bet on F1?
11446  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Losing investment on Gambling sites on: August 03, 2016, 06:27:53 AM
I would only invest in a site with a very much reputable history. That being said one such site for me is Crypto-Games.net as this site was accepting Ethereum since 2014 from what I have seen in their advertising. Now they are accepting beside bitcoin even different altcoins. This add to their balance as not all users have only bitcoin, some of them may have ethereum. This site can even let you invest only 0.01 btc as a minimum.
There are a few other sites which accepts investments too.

This sounds good. I want to ask how much will an investment of .01 BTC earn in a year? How long should your bitcoins must be invested before you are allowed to get them back?
11447  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: The DEX (Decentralized Exchange) Thread on: August 03, 2016, 05:12:14 AM
Yes. The question is why is not there support from the users to invest their money thru a DEX. It is safer and they control everything and the trade is direct with the other users. Maybe the problem is that most of the users do not care.
11448  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: August 03, 2016, 05:01:35 AM
can't believe why the price went down to this bought it for 28k now its down to 25k oh well i will hold and hope price will bounce back i still believe that dev is cooking something for us. good luck

many ICO participated people making loss cut sell. I do not take that way. Let's see what will be out come from dev team. Grin

Yes knowing this is very discouraging. They lost faith in the Waves development team and they think that Sasha might not be qualified to run a big project. They are right in a way because I do not think Sasha has created a successful cryptocurrency platform before. He is not a programmer I think.

Longest chain wins see http://fork.ethstats.net/

The original Ethereum classic chain hash rate is still increasing. It also increased very quick and it is now 1/3 of the hash rate of the forked chain. The real consensus will be shown soon by the miners, the market and the users. In the coming months it is possible that it will override Vitalik's decision of forking the chain giving the real chain and real outcome for the people.

I am curious with directbet.eu. Why only "D"? I thought they are one of the best sports books in the bitcoin world. Can you please explain the reason why you gave them a low rating?
11452  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 202: Diaz vs McGregor 2 Info and Prediction Thread on: August 03, 2016, 04:04:35 AM
I like Nate Diaz in this fight. McGregor is overhyped and all the casual bets will go to him until the last minute. It is best to also wait until the last minute to bet on Diaz because you will get better odds.
11453  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Poloniex is going crazy. You need to watch ETC. Parity with ETH maybe tonight. on: August 03, 2016, 04:01:58 AM
Hmm, if you are looking to trade ETC against BTC, it is a tougher call on direction to take given BTC's correction. ETC probably still a buy here, and completely agree that parity with ETH seems a given.

Parity is not assured. We cannot foresee what will really happen because there will always be unexpected events and black swans. We can only hope for the best in ETC. But of course I like parity to happen.
11454  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / What will happen to Tether? on: August 03, 2016, 03:56:15 AM
To my understanding Tether is the cryptocurrency created and backed by Bitfinex. If they become bankrupt and stop operating as an exchange what will happen to all the tethers in circulation? Will it all lose value also? Will Bitfinex have the responsibility to exchange them for real us dollars?
11455  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Bitfinex legal obligations to users on: August 03, 2016, 03:43:30 AM
I don't think the non-BTC accounts are protected. Even if they were also segregated accounts, the bankrupty of Bitfinex should view all segregrated accounts in equal legal standing, thus they all must suffer proportionally.

The theft is Bitfinex's liability.

So all non-BTC accounts on Bitfinex should be affected proportionally. I presume Bitfinex will eventually realize this. Unless law is somehow different in Hong Kong.

I presume the knee-jerk selloff of BTC is an overreaction. Bitfinex still has significant resources, so everyone on Bitfinex should probably get a loss but not a total loss.

Yes. The sell off is an overreaction. But the problem is there is no buying demand in bitcoins recently so I speculate we will not see this quickly move up above $600 for now. What do you think?

Yes we will. The pumpers are still in control. They are bigger then a few hundred k btc.

But the price of bitcoin was already not going higher anymore before the hack. It was already weakening because there was already a lack in demand. Now the miners will have no choice but to sell more of their mining earnings and savings because of the lower price and the halving of their rewards. This is of course only speculation.

What about those cashing out of the ETC rise? Where can that amount of money go next? Don't tell me Steem as it has insufficient volume and it will debase you 100% over the next several months, unless you power up and commit to 1 year cash out weighted window.

Synereo says they have a launch coming in September, but that can't absorb all those funds can it?

Everything plummeting except for ETC:

http://coinmarketcap.com/

I do not understand where rise will fit in. In my mind the miners will sell bitcoins for fiat in order to maintain mining operations. Since the price is now lower and the mining reward is halved the miners will now have to sell more bitcoins in the market making it hard for it to come back above $600. It is because the bitcoin price rise was already weakening and it was time for it to go down. It would have still gotten down if the hack did not happen. Just an opinion.
11456  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETC is now 3rd crypto marketcap in the world!!! on: August 03, 2016, 03:36:48 AM
I speculate that this recent price will not hold. Some traders will take profit at the first sign that there will be weakness. It has moved up very quickly and it makes it unstable because the buy support cannot catch up.

I speculate it won't stop until everyone has sold their ETH for ETC. This will accelerate as more and more idiots realize that if they don't sell ETH, they will lose all.

Fools are slow to act until they panic at the end.

Also you are underestimating the power of bull run vortex on crypto speculators. Crypto speculators tend to dive headfirst into opportunities to make a quick 300% gain.

ETH has no future because Vitalik proved the blockchain can't be trusted. If we want blockchains to remain immutable, ETC must win. I think Bitcoin supporters will make sure ETC wins against ETH.

I think the DAO benefactor hacker is likely profiting big time on  leveraged ETH shorts, while being leveraged long on ETC. So he can use proceeds to drive the price the direction he wants, while never needing to actually cash out of ETC.

Bitcoin investors would love to see ETC kill ETH. And if they can make money doing that, then it is a nobrainer.

But there is an equivalent number of ETC in the Ethereum foundation's premine of ETH. Don't you think Vitalik will once again make a desperate move to save the fork by dumping all the ETC they can potentially have and buy ETH with it?
11457  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WHo will win - ETH or ETC? on: August 03, 2016, 03:33:16 AM
The ironic thing is that all ETH bagholders automatically had ETC at the time of the fork, so if they were smart enough, they could have dumped their ETH and then bought ETC and end up with tenfold the amount of ETC!

This might something that is happening now. We will see if it is so because it will reflect on the price of both chains. But the Ethereum foundation's premine of ETH also has the equivalent amount of ETC. They can negate it by doing some dumping of ETC and buy up ETH. I don't know if they will do it but they if they are desperate they can do it.
well, in the begin etc were a doubt, so this wouldn't be a smart move... good profits but way too risky.
but hold the free etc(what i did) was definitelly a good idea and now i'm selling eth and getting more etc.

Yes. If you are an active trader it is a good idea to sell ETH and buy ETC because one is going down and the other going up. I understand the decision you took and it is the more profitable move. My question is when is the right time to sell?
11458  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Poloniex is going crazy. You need to watch ETC. Parity with ETH maybe tonight. on: August 03, 2016, 03:29:09 AM
Parity may or may not come. If it will it will not happen tonight. There is the possibility that Vitalik will use the equivalent amount of ETC of the foundation's ETH premine and dump them in panic to save the fork. We have seen him make panic and impulsive moves and we will see it again just to save his own skin and the insiders' skin.
