11461  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: June 08, 2017, 04:37:04 PM
As far as I can tell that Mac problem is Safari specific. Quite a few users have reported problems and lost coins with it. I don't know why it hasn't been addressed.

If you're harvesting no one else can access your coins. Otherwise no one would be harvesting.
11462  Economy / Speculation / Re: segwit effect on bitcoin price on: June 08, 2017, 03:07:34 PM
Everything depends on how Segwit is activated, not whether it activates.

If it's done along the original 95% lines, which is 100% unlikely, then everyone rejoices.

If it's this Seg2xHF or whatever, if that still insists on hard forks and closed door meetings then I think confidence in Bitcoin will fall.

If it's UASF that results in two chains then it's mushroom cloud time.
11463  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Am I asking too much? on: June 08, 2017, 02:04:08 PM
There are many exchange platforms that have BTC-USDT (Tether) pairs, Tether is actually backed by real USD deposits in banks and 1 USDT tends to remain as 1 USD but there can be some fluctuation in this value like we have right now.

Another option could be goldmoney that accepts bitcoin deposits and you can buy gold with it but you can't buy back bitcoin with those gold. If you want to cash out than you can receive gold bars from them if your country lies under their supported country list.

They're all one phone call or raid away from being shut down. They'll end up as poster boys for the dangers of centralisation without playing regulatory ball.

All tokens imply backing, and backing implies a point of failure.
11464  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Which UK bank account to use? on: June 08, 2017, 01:12:31 PM
If you are in the United Kingdom you can use any bank as they all follow the same norms.

No you can't. They'll shut you down. Business with them is down to their own discretion and they don't want anything to do with BTC. That's why there are no proper exchanges.

No UK Bitcoin business has ever managed to maintain a bank account, so the best option would be to wait for Fidor, but perhaps they'll never manage it precisely because they're Bitcoin friendly.

Perhaps you should ask the high ranking Localbitcoins traders. They must be managing something, though I've no idea what.

Another option is to have a trawl through here - https://www.reddit.com/r/BitcoinUK/ as this pops up often. If I remember rightly Nationwide was regularly mentioned as not being too bad. It could've changed though.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=264679.220 this thread too.
11465  Economy / Economics / Re: Market Cap, newb question on: June 08, 2017, 01:02:53 PM
People use it because it's easy to game and inflate and it supplies large numbers that make you look cool.

Other than that it's misleading junk that's best forgotten about.
11466  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mark Cuban's attack on Bitcoin on: June 08, 2017, 12:59:12 PM
I do not care what this person thinks, whoever he/she may be. Bitcoin got to where it is without him and will continue its thing regardless.

And the price dropped because of his tweet? Are you fuckin serious?
11467  Other / Politics & Society / Re: When iran water crisis hit, trap them and let them all die on: June 08, 2017, 11:07:51 AM
You don't believe the in the millions march through out iran chanting death to america? They could stay at home and let the henchmen of the regime do it... but no, they are part of it, this will lead to their ends... they aren't rich enough to buy donald... what could they offer him he doesn't have?

No I don't. There are not millions. They chant it with such little enthusiasm that they probably don't even care what it means any more. If you don't chant it your own government probably beats the shit out of you.

You evidently feel strongly about people you've never met. Get over there and suicide bomb a nursery school.

11468  Economy / Speculation / Re: Skidoo Higher than Bitcoin on: June 08, 2017, 11:03:47 AM
Here's your answer - Circulating Supply 0.25257293 CHAO

So there is one quarter of one unit of whatever the hell this is available for the entire planet to buy.

The price of a single unit is not relevant unless you take into account the total number circulating, and even then it's pathetically easy to game.
11469  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How long will the big crypto rise last? What will happen to us after that? on: June 08, 2017, 10:57:44 AM
All it takes for the whole thing to collapse is a handful of people to think 'hmm, what exactly have I paid all this money for?' and then a few more start to agree with them.

It's all very well saying awareness is growing, it is, but that doesn't mean any of it has delivered anything of genuine value. Most people putting money in don't have the slightest clue what they're doing. They probably can't even pronounce most of the names properly.

Most of the companies shouting 'blockchain, blockchain, yeeeeaah' will never get around to actually doing anything with it.

The prices can be absolutely vapourised and it won't matter in the long run. The ideas and tech will endure. The saps who piled in knowing nothing won't be remembered.

11470  Other / Politics & Society / Re: When iran water crisis hit, trap them and let them all die on: June 08, 2017, 10:50:51 AM
So you wish death upon every single Iranian, be they a child, baker, gardener, grandmother or surgeon?

Weirdly enough I do not condone any actions of my government and would like them all to be in prison forever. I'm sure most humans feel the same way no matter what country they're in.
11471  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 08, 2017, 10:43:15 AM

That 'market share' isn't coming back. Crypto has diverged for good no matter how shitty or wobbly the different paths are. Different people are now doing different things under one very tenuous umbrella that should be abandoned. Anyone who didn't expect this is a silly sausage.
11472  Other / Politics & Society / Re: When iran water crisis hit, trap them and let them all die on: June 08, 2017, 10:40:55 AM
The OP is a fucking prick.

I know a few people who've been to Iran. They all nearly passed out at the utter joy of encountering such wonderful people.

The day the average person manages to separate real people from actions of a few cunts at the top is when the human race actually makes some progress.
11473  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 77% BTC lost during transaction - what went wrong? on: June 07, 2017, 10:30:38 PM
You really should not be transferring directly from a dark market. Bitstamp is the most uptight exchange out there. If they track your coins from there, which is very possible, expect to be shut down.
11474  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 07, 2017, 10:24:57 PM
As long as it stays above $666 I really couldn't give the remotest shit any more. Hello to fresh panickers. You too will feel the same some day.
11475  Economy / Economics / Re: A $10,000 Bitcoin is possible, but it won't be what you think it would be on: June 07, 2017, 09:33:55 PM
I've had 'dollar hyperinflation' shouted at me for what seems like all eternity.

Hasn't happened yet and I'm getting deeply bored of it. It usually seems to be from people trying to sell you their lumps of useless shiny metal.
11476  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 07, 2017, 09:24:32 PM
That's very noble of you.

Stupid, but noble.

Nope. Pragmatic.

My wealth would be put at the mercy of a 90 pound Russian and his wiggly code. Fuck that shit.
11477  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 07, 2017, 09:02:48 PM
I'm a pretty long-term BTC enthusiast. However, I have become rather nervous about BTC's future the last several months. Even moreso now than at any point since 2013 or so.

If UASF doesn't pass, I really don't see how BTC can possibly move forward, and stop ETH from eating it's lunch. And as of now, it looks like UASF is very unlikely to make it.

There'll always be a crisis of some sort on the horizon. Make your peace with it.

I don't really care if ETH eats Bitcoin's lunch. If it completely buries Bitcoin I'll be going with it. It has nothing to do with what crypto should stand for.
11478  Economy / Exchanges / Re: 2FA and what if i lose my phone...? (at the least suitable time) on: June 07, 2017, 08:45:57 PM
Is this SMS 2FA? You shouldn't be using that anyway. It can be undermined by hackers porting your number.

Switch to google authenticator and with the secret code it gives you when you sign up you can have multiple backups operating at once.

Exchanges should let you back in if you email them from your registered address but with support as slow as it is these days forget chasing market moves.
11479  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Sam Cole and KNCMiner Scam on: June 07, 2017, 08:41:33 PM
I wonder if ever Sam Cole and his collegues are taken to justice for their scam. Anyone knows the numbers how many Kncminer customers have been cheated?

Did anything ever come of this? I don't remember seeing anything.

They now run the Xbtprovider ETN listed in Sweden which isn't hugely reassuring considering their track record.
11480  Other / Politics & Society / Re: You sit idly by while American patriots are tortured and killed on: June 07, 2017, 08:38:07 PM
They're several thousand miles from me so there's nothing I can do. I also don't have the slightest clue what you're on about.
