11501  Economy / Collectibles / Re: For sale: 10g gold cube on: April 04, 2015, 05:24:36 AM
I don't think this would be a very safe transaction, even with the use of escrow. Even if a buyer was able to sufficiently detect if this is real gold or not (I would think that most people are not) then there is a very high chance there will be some kind of dispute that the escrow will need to mediate and physical goods are difficult to escrow when both of the parties are not reputable because it is very difficult to tell who is telling the truth and to evaluate how credible evidence that both parties present

What do you recommend then? I do feel like I am in a different situation as I own one of the only in circulation bitgold.com 10g cubes at the moment.

I am not sure if places like ANACS are able to grade a gold cube, but if they are then getting it graded would help with making a sale more safe for both parties as the grading service would be able to verify what coin cube that is in their sealed holder, even if it gets a poor grade. Other options involve selling to a coin dealer and/or very highly trusted members of the forum who are trusted enough so that you would be willing to send the cube first for them to inspect and verify that it is intact what you claim it to be, and once verified they can pay you a previously agreed upon price.

You can also ask someone else to vouch for you and get an account whitelisted from paying the fee. I dont know if there is an official way to do it or someone specific you should contact though. Its been a while and I wasnt sober so please dont ask me for details I dont remember myself.
most moderators can whitelist user accounts
"most"
-snip-

Any staff member can whitelist, a couple users as well though I don't want to name them so they get drowned in whitelist requests.

I'll whitelist on request for solid members, or if one vouches, most others will as well. There's no particular rules for it, as long as the whitelisted person doesn't immediately start posting garbage.
11504  Other / Meta / Re: [Serious] Avatar Rules Discussion on: April 04, 2015, 04:19:38 AM
1, 2, 3 - NSFW avatars are not allowed. I am not sure what NSFL means, but I assume it is a typo.

4 - there has not been any specific rule against them, however I don't see any real way to enforce such a rule as campaigns could theoretically originate offsite. Plus prohibiting them would be infringing on users' freedom of speech which is generally not something that the forum engages in

5 - The forum follows the law. I assume a copyright holder should request deletion of infringing content the same way they would request that other content be taken down. Huh is how do to it

6, 7 - I have not seen any rule above that NSFW content is not allowed. However limiting these kinds of things would be stepping on freedom of speech. Just because someone has an unpopular view does not mean they should not be able to express it.

8 - I think that would be difficult because only full members+ can have avatars, so it would be pretty difficult to impersonate via both a username and an avatar without being noticed long before you can have an avatar, so you would get negative trust, which would make it much more obvious. Also most avatars have been reused several times by several people.

9 - see 5
11505  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: crypterest scam on: April 04, 2015, 03:47:57 AM
The "main" account of is a known alt of [url=https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=152722]moreia who is a serial ponzi scammer and has brought down the reputation of a number of people.

I am not sure why anyone with any common sense would ever think it is a good idea to invest in that kind of a ponzi, they all end up running away with investors' money
11506  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scam Report: SpreadBit, Confirmed Scammer. on: April 04, 2015, 03:35:26 AM
100% scammer, he took from me a ppmc code for 500 and was supposed to give me 1.6 BTC. 72 hours passed already, no sign. Pay attention he said is having to more heroes accounts.

Wait, you didn't use escrow?

Because i thought his rate is good enough to trust. This is my problem. But every kick in the ass is one more step further, LOL. I lost 250 for that code.
If someone is giving you a good rate or a good deal then the chances are greater that you are going to get scammed. People offer good deals because they want to quickly get a lot of people to take up their offer
11507  Other / Meta / Re: I'VE BEEN HACKED!!! on: April 04, 2015, 03:33:21 AM
You sign the following message
Code:
My account <account> has been hacked/lost. Please reset the email to <email>. The current date is <date>.
You replace <account>, <email> and <date> with the username of your account, your email address and the current date
11508  Economy / Auctions / Re: [Auction] 6 sr. menber account for sale - 1 day for Auction on: April 04, 2015, 03:31:33 AM
2.1 BTC divided by 6 account being sold works out to .35 BTC per account which really isn't that great of a deal, especially considering that the buyer would be buying in bulk.

This is not specifically mentioned in your OP, but are you able to sign messages from old addresses associated with each of the accounts?
11509  Other / Meta / Re: I'VE BEEN HACKED!!! on: April 04, 2015, 03:27:28 AM
The address is your bitcoin address and the signature is the signature that gets output when you sign the message you are signing
Huh? wait so like the thing it says at the bottom of any post someone makes like how urs says dadice
No. When you use a wallet software to sign a message you will receive an output (signature) that cryptographically verifies that you are in control of the private key.

For example when I sign the below message with the address 1HeMohwT8zbdf1XWd3C6TEvFiR2DtDpxFy I receive the following output/signature:
Code:
this is a test signed message, today is april 3 2015 by quickseller
Code:

That account is tagged as being an alt of moreia. Two questions

1- are you able to prove ownership of your account either with a signed message or otherwise?

2- did you at one point download what could have been malware and/or click on a link that you received in the chat of a gambling site?
11512  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is it illegal to trade bitcoin for frequent flyer miles on: April 03, 2015, 06:43:51 PM
why should this matter? One would result in the miles essentially being sold for cash and the other would result in a barter transaction. What is wrong with either result?

I wish it was that simple but there are stacks of overlapping, contradictory, and ambiguous regulations that could be used to prosecute you if you upset the wrong people.

I was just following a ridiculous court case where someone collecting money for charity was convicted under a local panhandling ordinance.

He has lost his case and now has large fines and jail time exceeding the maximum penalty by their own statutes and they wouldn't even allow him to provide the letter from the non-profit submitted as evidence in the trial.

These incidents happen all the time and you likely are committing multiple felonies every day without even knowing it by the way some of these laws are worded and enforced.
Trial courts make mistakes all the time. If he is facing penalties above the max allowed as per the law then he would win an appeal of the penalty.

I don't know evough facts about that case to make an informed, unbiased conclusion if he broke the law or not, however just because you are collecting money for chairity does not mean you are exempt from panhandling where doing so is illegal.
11513  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is it illegal to trade bitcoin for frequent flyer miles on: April 03, 2015, 06:25:28 PM
why/why not?

-snip-

There is no yes or no answer to find here especially since certain sectors of US law classify Bitcoin as a currency and others as an asset.

11514  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is it illegal to trade bitcoin for frequent flyer miles on: April 03, 2015, 06:11:40 PM
Illegal - no, unless bartering is illegal in your jurisdiction (I can't imagine it being illegal anywhere).

As Danny mentioned above, there is a chance that selling your miles is against the TOS of the program and could result in some kind of civil action against you (although the much more likely scenario is that your account would be closed along with the person who purchased them) and there would be zero chance of criminal charges.
11515  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone reconsidering not reporting BTC in lieu of IRS / Silk Road investigation? on: April 03, 2015, 06:08:14 PM
That is a horrible idea. Anything on your tax return cannot be used against you unless you are being charged with tax fraud/evasion and/or other tax related crimes. There is no reason to commit additional crimes when what you are likely doing in the first place is not illegal.

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

This is quickseller from bitcointalk today is March 2 2015
You mean April 2 2015? Huh
yes that is a mistake. If you verified the message you would see it was signed on April 2 and the address had no transactions until April 2
11517  Economy / Services / Re: Signature designer contest 0.22btc :) on: April 03, 2015, 02:14:01 PM
Please extend time to at least 48h more - good design need time to be created, I want to work on that. But I need a bit more time. Thanks.

Sure i was told threw pm if you showed up to extend the time if needed and obviously that is what you would like, so as long as that is ok with Quickseller which i don't see much problem then that will be granted. Thanks will update op when i have spoke to escrow.
sure no problem. Just make it public what the exact new due date is and I would be willing to continue to hold escrow funds until then.
11518  Economy / Lending / Re: need 1 BTC loan on: April 03, 2015, 02:12:37 PM
why wouldn't the lender just buy that altcoin themselves and get all the benefit of any price appreciation? You need to provide collateral that is above the value of the amount of the loan to protect the lender from a prove decline of the collateral.

like what it is, I am here looking for that trust, and such collateral could not, because my country in Asia, I am looking for investors bitcoin not find a loan that is no guarantee and I think bitcoin trading at no risk of losing  Roll Eyes
your trust/reputation is not worth 1 btc. I don't think anyone is going to give you a loan and if they do they will likely never see their money again.

I confirm that I am in control of the account orryde. It is now safe to fund the loan. Additionally please post a repayment address below for this specific loan.
Please give me a minute.

Edit:
Sent.
Can you and orryde confirm that you received the fund?

TXID: f7d9bcc97c719c6ee1f76b7e99a6825c7396eeec8e86cd841f6feb4b8ecf7e72

orryde, repay your loan(0.11 BTC) at 19vt9ZZDFxZPSDpiCqL44i9bhrT1KrYMjp.
orryde cannot post from his account. I confirm that I have received the escrow fee and it looks like the address he posted received .0925 btc.

@orryde - please repay to the address that I quoted above.
11520  Economy / Lending / Re: need 1 BTC loan on: April 03, 2015, 02:05:56 PM
you don't have any reputation here. You are going to have to put up some collateral if you want any chance of getting this loan. If you are an altcoin trader then you can put up some of whatever altcoin you currently hold for the lender (or escrow on behalf of the lender) that will guarantee the loan will be repaid.

sorry I do not understand, could be given instructions as I would my bitcoin tradingkan and I can gain 100% of 1btc and 50% for the benefit of investors and 50% to a trader for 15 days
thank you
