Great!  Wallet will need particled for mac osx, not sure if was compiled.  New wallet runs its own particled engine behind scenes, is transparent to user but is need component.

Okay, I will wait to hear from you.

thank you.

New forum already in progress... will drop link when ready by this weekend.  phpbb3 with nice consistent brand like website, very pro look I bought.

New wallet is cross-platform desktop wallet.  This will drop next week.  Will send to a few people first as beta/preview shakeout, need a Mac tester I do not have VM with Mac OSX yet.  Will have to you this weekend.  Have solution coded and tested for capture daemon behind scenes, works nice and means user don't have to worry about it, it all bundled together and "just work".  Working on user settings/customize load/save, remember window size/position, little things that make nice, etc.

Mobile wallets like for Android/iPhone etc. will be sometime down road in future.

http://www.bitparticle.com/investment/  updated.
http://www.bitparticle.com/our-technology/  updated.  Screenshots, plugin API docs, etc. come soon.

IRC, that is cool, I am not big user a little old for Irc probably ;-)

I am offering to be your mac tester.  I have access to multiple macs running the last 3 versions of osx 10.6 & 10.7 & 10.8 to give the wallet a full test across multiple computers.  I sent you a PM as well Moonmoon

I did some quick math.

Assuming it costs .11/KwH  and 600 watts per 1 TH/s machine.  Total electricity costs alone is:  578.56 USD.

I short, the 720 IXC that you mine isn't even going to cover electricity costs!!!

No wonder not many miners are selling their IXC!

And apparently people don't want IXC either because the price is so low.

Well, the hash rate has moved much faster than the price.  So right now, it clearly is extremely undervalued.

Of course, I have absolutely no clue what you meant by your statement.

My point is, just saying it cost 100 dollars to make a certain item, does not mean there is a market for item at 100....

If it cost 1million to mine 1 BTC would not make the price of BTC go to 1 million.....

And it could be over supplied as easily as undervalued....

Hi there and sorry to be such a noob

Since i can only post in this subforum i will try for help here:

i try to mine some verticoin with wallet solo mining (just cpu and just for fun) but i don't receive any coins (about 14 hours of mining so far)

what i do:

start the wallet wait for sync
then go to help / debug

setgenerate true -1
getmininginfo says about 2000 hashespersec

waiting ...

what am i doing wrong?
something else i have to configure ?

any help very welcome!

my wallet if you wan't to send me some coins for test:

If you are solo mining, it can take a long time until you find any blocks.  Solo mining will give you larger rewards when you find a block, but it could take days/weeks or even years in the case of bitcoin.  If you want steady return, then go with pool mining.  You pool together with other miners and then share the block reward when someone finds a block.  Hope that helps.

Vlad2Vlad, you have any Ixcoins to sell a person?

Wait a minute, you wanna buy iXCoin?  I thought you were one of the skeptical ones?  What made you change your mind?

I'm glad if you changed your mind.  I think it's the right choice.

Sorry I can't sell any but you can buy fairly cheap now on cryptsy or vircurex.  It's hard to buy larger quantities but like 1 BTC is very doable.

Good luck!

I am skeptical.  But the coin is so cheap right now what is there to loose?    I see the point you make, but at the same time, I also believe a shorter block time/multi ecrypted coin will take over bitcoin copy cats...  I'm still looking for my perfect coin to go all in on....

1175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: With over 340 different cryptocurrencies out there, which is your favorite? on: January 14, 2014, 07:03:42 PM
So after browsing the forums for a little while and seeing all of the alt cryptocurrencies out there, I am wondering, with all of the Coingen crappers, pump and dump coins, and failcoins out there, which ones do you all still favor and see as a big player for this year? Feel free to post whatever coin you want, if I come across a new one I will add it to my list and probably make a poll with everyone listed for you guys to vote on. Thoughts?

OpenSourceCoin (OSC)
ParticleCoin (PRT)

any thought on getting a better logo?

We need better graphic design and logo IMO.

i held a logo contest and didn't receive very much interest. i agree though.

I'M sorry, I missed the contest.  Even though I'm not a very good designer.  I just would like to see something plainer and simpler.  I'm invested in this coin due to the technical features but I would be willing to help you with some Graphical improvements.  The website would be the next area that could use some help....  I'm not sure if this is something the dev would except help on or not.

PublicJud,

Your example is pointless as there's large pools for scrypt as well and that's always gonna be the case.

But the fact remains that there's way way way more massive hashing power for asics and for merge mined coins which makes those coins (SHA256) much more secure, pools or not.

I'm sure our Frictionless guy can give you a more detailed and technically professional answer to that.

Or MarkM, he's great, but he's a Brit and Brits are sleeping right now.

As I understand it, PoS coin requires a miner to own a certain percent of the coin to have a right to a percent of the mining.  So one pool/miner can't just take over 51% of the mining without buying 51% of the coin.

FYI, Does not work on OSX 10.6.8

Which error message do you get / which library doesn't work?

Anyhow, the client works fine on both Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion and 10.9 Mavericks and was compiled for those.

The error is.

I would love for someone to actually address this...

Anyone of the 5 big bitcoin pools could go rouge and attempt a 51% attack.  So while it's true bitcoin has a huge amount of hash, remember most of the hash is controlled by only a hand full of pool operators.

You can see there are about 4 main players in the bitcoin network.....  How is that secure again?  4 pools controlling 83% of the hash....
