Vlad, I was attracted to this thread by your imaginative and fascinating riddle. I enjoyed your explanation even more. I am thinking about putting a (tiny) percentage of my bitcoins into ixc as a result - enough to act as a good hedge in case you are right.
I share many of fears about bitcoin and I would like to ask your opinion of the cryptonote and other anon coins.

Pirate Ragnar

A huge issue with BTC and IXC is the amount of wasted energy.  Look how many millions of dollars it cost just to mine BTC.  And for something arbitrary, like 10 leading zeros on the block hash, which serves no purpose, other than making it harder to verify a transaction.  All PoW coins will fail.

Mintpal: We are experiencing issues with the node that #blackcoin resides on. Deposits and withdrawals are temporarily suspended. Funds are safe.

That was yesterday.  I still didn't get my deposit since 20 hours ago.

Same with me too, no one answers. Disgusting support on Mintpal.

remember they are launching v2 of the site tomorrow.  There resources might be stretched thin right now.

multiplayer support coming?

Not in the near future, but we have no problem with implementing multiplayer support in more distant future of CoinJack.

Thanks for the reply.

Once you allow code to 'reverse' transactions how will the project remain open source ?

Who decides who does the 'reversing' and when, why, how often ?

I think if someone wants this it should be a feature built on top of or outside of the blockchain , not into it.

Once someone had the power to 'reverse' any iX transaction another party may compromise thier 'power' , then what ??

The answer to what i think some of you want to do is for someone to 'startup' a business of cryptcocurrency payment systems that offers
'reversable' transactions to merchants and takes out insurance or otherwise 'backs' themself financially to absorb any risk associated with what they offer their clients.

This is a dangerous road to even think about walking down if you start to think about what is involved in coding the client.

A coin with the highest difficulty in the world would not hold my trust if i thought anyone 'out there' could just 'negate' my wallet or transactions.
I would stick to cash or junk silver.

I would also be very strongly against anyone trying to 'ban' or otherwise 'blacklist' any of the premined coins or coins mined in secret to unredeemed outputs.  Someone made the claim these keys are destroyed.  This claim is impossible to prove since the coins are still in the blockchain waiting to be claimed on output. If it is true they will never be redeemed. Still they did belong to someone at some point in time. Whoever that person is has every right to their coins if they ever decide to claim them and if they can. NO ONE has the right or should consider 'blacklisting' those coins.

If you ever get off the path , re read Satoshi 's whitepaper.  It even predicted that the price of electricity would eventually start to be effected by bitcoin mining.....which is probably not too far from being true. Rereading this may 'refresh' some basic concepts are to what I consider 'true' core proponents of cryptocurrency.

Honestly , ask yourself.... when was the last time you re read it fully all the way through.

My guess is a majority of the members of this forum have only actaully glanced at it or skimmed through it if they ever even read it at all.

Thank you!  You said my thoughts.

How does anyone buy this story? These types of screenshots are so easily faked. The picture is not of something with complicated blending of colors and shapes. It's all text, basic unison colors, and simple lines. A quick crop job of the "hacker's" email with his own made up text is enough to make that screenshot.

For someone that has tried so hard to remain anonymous, do you really think Satoshi would use such important email account to place orders that can be used to trace back to him?

It smells fake.

Explain a loaded block please...

Ixcoin barely has any transactions.  How can it's blocks be loaded now?

Loaded as in holding coins.  When mining will be done IXC will have empty blocks and IXC will be able to do things Bitcoin can only dream of.

I think this is what CEX.io is waiting for.  I think things will get interesting in late October.  At least that's my hope and expectation.

Coin creation does not take much room.  So Ixcoin will have one less transaction per block due to mining being over.  So what?  Am I missing something?
714  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SDC] Shadow | [ ShadowChat | ShadowSend | ShadowGo ] | New iOS wallet ! on: September 08, 2014, 04:08:36 PM
When is the IOS chat app available in the itunes store?

as soon as its approved by apple.

nb : There is no full "chat application" at the moment, it's a wallet with shadowchat included

And it cost ShadowCoins to chat?

Nope, it's free Smiley

So where do the miners get rewarded for transferring messages?

If I understand correctly there's no reward for transferring messages, it's simply something that staking nodes do automatically. The messages aren't sewn into the blockchain so compared to staking itself the computational demand is probably negligible. SDCDev explains in detail how ShadowChat works here. Obviously the introduction of voice, video, and file attachments will probably work differently so I expect there'll be a similar paper prior to those features being integrated.

Thank you.

And let's not forget Counterparty.  And we also talked to Jeffrey about adding NXT's features for on-block exchange.

IXcoin can do it all.  iXcoin can literally be the entire core and after the mining is done we can also easily drop the block time to maybe 2 minutes and probably not have any issues like we would now with loaded blocks.

Regarding nullifying Thomas' premine, I don't understand why anyone would do such a thing.

A premine or stealth mine was done.  Promises were made to pay out bounties with it and for future development.

So far all legit and pretty common practice in CryptoLand.

More than 3 years later the entire premine appears to be intact and large bounties are being paid out as promised.

No other alt-coin dev has ever held on to a premine, especially not a premine of a supposedly dead coin, one which was constantly attacked and forked, for so many years and remained faithful to paying out bounties as promised.

As of now, Thomas Nasakioto has done nothing wrong, and yet we want to smash the golden eggs in his basket which have been the biggest contributor to iXcoin's progress?  I don't see the fairness and logic in that.

Part of that premine is also earmarked for "future development".  What that means to me is Thomas has some plan for when IXC is $10+. That could mean millions of dollars in development money which we won't have to pay out of pocket or beg for investors like Bitcoin/Litecoin.

If Thomas continues to stick to his plan and deliver on his promises then this could actually turn out to be quite a brilliant plan.

Let me make it clear, permanently destroying over 400,000 IXC would give me a bigger piece of the iXCoin pie given I have a lot of IXC so I would be a big winner of such a plan; however, I am trying to do what's right for IXC and for this community, and getting rid of potentially millions of dollars of future development money when no wrong has been committed doesn't sound right to me.

Let's play it by ear and as long as Thomas keeps his promises, as he has thus far, then we treat him with the same trust and integrity that he has shown towards iXCoin and it's community.

That's my two cents...

Cheers!

I couldn't agree more with Vlad, for what it's worth.

I bought some at half cent and I bought quite a bit at above 5 cents.  My average is 12,000 Satoshi and I've been selling for around 5,000 Satoshi.  Not sure how my average was dollar-wise but I'm definitely selling at a big loss Bitcoin wise which is what really counts here.

Okay.  I just had it in my head that you were up on your investment.  But if your average is 12,000 then obviously not.  Guess I got in at a better price than you.
