1161  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Difference between Lighting Network and Bitcoin on: April 30, 2023, 06:17:33 PM
I would differ here. LN transactions may not be instantly written on bitcoin blockchain but after the channel is closed the transactions goes to on-chain (correct me if I am wrong).
Lightning Network is an off-chain which means none of the transactions happening inside Lightning Network, isn't recorded on the Bitcoin blockchain. You can consider it with a custodial wallet transaction as well. When we use Binance for receiving Bitcoin from another party, we can use a Bitcoin address from Binance. After receiving Bitcoin, if we want to send Bitcoin to another Binance user, we don't need on-chain txs.
The same thing happened in LN too. When you open and fund a channel in LN, one transaction is recorded in Bitcoin Blockchain. After that, through LN, you may have thousands of txs but none of them are going to be recorded on the Bitcoin Blockchain ever, because the transactions aren't happening in Bitcoin Blockchain, they are happening in LN, another chain you can say. When you decide to close the channel, you will receive the fund you have in LN after all the transactions are settled and one transaction will be recorded in Bitcoin Blockchain. So, even if you are having a lot of txs in LN, only 2 transactions will be recorded in the blockchain. When you fund the channel and when you close the channel.

LN has some WOW features to offer but somehow it failed to took off. People despite all odds still prefer to use bitcoin on-chain instead of LN.
It's because LN transactions aren't yet comfortable for a lot of people. Though it's easier than a lot of people think, it's still not the same functional as Send and Receive. More development on LN-based wallet is needed I think which will make it easier to use without having a lot of knowledge on how LN works.
1162  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How Bitcoin Ordinal will waste block space? on: April 30, 2023, 05:49:01 PM
It does but the biggest problem is not about their size (although that is a big problem itself). The biggest problem is that the Ordinals Attack is creating an incentive to spam the blockchain by creating a possible parallel market where people scam each other by selling these transactions containing arbitrary data.
If the said market grows, the resulting spam could quickly fill the blocks with transactions that could even pay very high fees. Fees that are higher than what a normal user is willing to pay.
That's what I have read too. So, basically, it's going to create a problem in the coming days if people started using this. Bitcoin on-chain transactions had a record high today. I don't know if that's because of Bitcoin Ordinal. Suddenly, there are a lot of people talking about this everywhere. I'm managing a Facebook group and in the last few days, a lot of people are looking for information on this and they seem very much interested to check it out.
1163  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin reaches record high # of daily transactions on: April 30, 2023, 04:33:37 PM
I recently have seen a lot of normal people are interested in Bitcoin Ordinal. Can it have something to do with the increases number of transactions? There are a lot of invest in altcoin but suddenly I can see an interest at Bitcoin ordinal on them.

Am I wrong by saying Lightning Network helps diminish the number of daily Transactions rather than help them increase?
You are right. If Lightning Network is in full action, bitcoin on chain transactions will be decreased. The transactions in Lightning Network has nothing to do with on chain. Only transactions, happening at the time of opening channel and closing channel, will have record in the bitcoin blockchain.
1164  Other / Beginners & Help / How Bitcoin Ordinal will waste block space? on: April 29, 2023, 05:47:23 PM
I have been reading about Bitcoin Ordinal but I couldn't spend a lot times so couldn't learn the whole thing yet. Anyway, I read one article where it says each sats will have a identifier number. This is crazy! How's it going to be done technically? Can someone explain?

Also, if Bitcoin Ordinal is used by a lot of people, will it create an issue for normal bitcoin transactions? Bitcoin block is too small in size. If sats inscription consume a lot of space in each block, won't it create a problem of shortage of space in block? The fee for a transaction will be increased significantly.
I don't know if my understanding is correct or not but I have read such few articles where it seems Bitcoin Ordinal isn't a great project we should appreciate. Rather, it's something which will create issue in the future?
1165  Economy / Gambling / Re: Betcrypto.cr |No KYC Casino & Sportsbook| 200% welcome bonus + 100% reload bonus on: April 29, 2023, 12:01:25 PM
When the casino pretending to be not asking KYC but once there is a withdrawal happens specially if this is something like big amount? KYC will be in system and yes this is what we hate to see, better to strict in your rules and tell people thetruth.
Hope that yours is far different from what some gambling sites try to implement.
No one can disagree with you but you know betcrypto put a lot of effort since the beginning of the casino and they were strict about no KYC from the beginning. I have talked with betcrypto a lot of times and I have to admit that I was convinced that they are not the typical casino who will turn into a KYC casino at the end when people will make bigger withdraw. Not a vouch but I'm convinced enough that they are going to be a no KYC casino.

I have nothing against you not having KYC, but under which licenses will you operate and how will you protect yourself and prevent someone from doing bad things through your casino? Somehow it all seems too good to be true, but everyone deserves a chance to prove themselves, just as everyone deserves the right to express their doubts.
They have only written the below quoted part, I have seen nothing else. They are a registered business in Costarica.
Quote
Betcrypto.cr is a registered legal business located in San José, Costa Rica. We abide by the laws and regulations where we do business. (Costa Rican laws)
1166  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Sign/Verify Messages Important? on: April 29, 2023, 11:40:23 AM
That message feature has nothing to do with Bitcoin or bitcoin getting hacked.
The message feature ensures privacy of the message and authenticity of the message. Imagine someone claiming satoshi nakamoto but can't prove it. Craig Wright is claiming that he is satoshi but he can only prove when he can sign a message from the very early bitcoin addresses.
1167  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What will a mixer do under the mentioned situation? on: April 29, 2023, 08:26:30 AM
Though a mixer is something else than only mixing hacker's stolen Bitcoin, they would be considered as fraud if they cooperate FBI or any other in such a case. Mixers are supposed to break the link of input regardless of wherever the input came from. No mixer would look at where BTC has come from if they are linked with any hacker unless they are the same ChipMixer honeypot of the FBI  Cheesy
However, mixers are centralized and they can do all these things including freezing your Bitcoin from the order of FBI.

1170  Other / Meta / Re: Copy button next to content in code command on: April 28, 2023, 06:24:19 PM
If I'm correct, there's a "Select All" option in smf but I'm not sure if that's compatible with the current version of the forum software. I can't remember where I used it (seems like in bitcointalk lol) but with that "Select All" option, the code written next to the "Select All" tag, could be selected and easily copied. I don't think it will be a lot of work to implement this if this exists in smf.

If this is working then the OP probably won’t create this thread and I will be happy but this problem is still my struggle because I just try it on all of my handheld device without a good result.

Can you provide screen record on how you do this?
I think LW is missing something here. Well, with a tablet, it's easier to select the code while with a mobile, it's almost impossible lol. I had to quote the whole OP and then find out the signature code section according to my rank lol and copy it.
1171  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where do I keep crypto after buying it? on: April 28, 2023, 05:37:36 PM

2. Exchanges are safe and easy-to-use.

So just keep it in the exchange, most preferably Binance.
Really? Come on. I never expected this from a Legendary. I know what you have meant and I'm sure you know what you are talking about. Regardless of whether OP is a newbie or not, it's never recommended to use centralized exchanges to store your coins. Have you seen what happened with FTX? Someone was definitely a newbie for FTX at that time and they didn't expect it.
Recommending Binance? You never know when they will freeze your account, the chance is low but there's still a chance. You possibly know that Binance has detected a mixer transaction from a user and freeze their account first though later, Binance refunded them? Because the amount was somewhat big and at that time, almost all the media covered the news so Binance had no other choice but refunding. When it comes to a small amount, no media will know, nor they will cover the news. So, your account will be frozen forever lol. In no way, CEX should be used to store coins for more than a few hours or days at max.
1172  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Projects Visibility (Sig Campaigns) in Bitcointalk. on: April 28, 2023, 05:25:51 PM
But the signatures have its use, otherwise the projects wouldn't be advertising here. You see them, the pictures and designs get stuck into your mind and you remember the names.
Yeah, branding should be the main focus but project wants quick result lol.
1173  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where do I keep crypto after buying it? on: April 28, 2023, 11:41:50 AM
Almost all the exchanges will allow you to buy and withdraw to your own custody. You can use Hardware wallet or if you can't afford one (that's cheap), you can use non custodial wallet to save your crypto.
I don't know if any exchange doesn't allow you to withdraw to your own wallet (all to my known allow), only Paypal doesn't allow if I'm correct.
Depending on where you live, you can use trusted exchanges like Kucoin, Coinbase, Binance and many more. Check out in coinmarketcap for the top cryptocurency exchanges.
1174  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HOW DO I GROW MY MERIT LEVEL SAME WAY MY ACTIVITY IS GROWING? on: April 28, 2023, 11:11:41 AM
Stop thinking about that and browse the forum for learning. That's the easiest way to get the maximum merit.
1175  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Projects Visibility (Sig Campaigns) in Bitcointalk. on: April 28, 2023, 09:00:20 AM
I don't think that many people click on random signatures anyways. Perhaps only on those from high-quality members that are instantly recognizable.
True, people barely click on signatures. And if a campaign evaluate the result with the clicks from the signature tracking link, they will simply stop running campaign here because the conversion rate from the tracking link will be too low to evaluate even. I can't remember if I have ever clicked on any signature to join a casino or check out a mixer.

1177  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How many Bitcoin blocks are not full of transaction - info needed on: April 26, 2023, 11:42:41 AM
Transaction count cannot be used as reliable indicable how full is a block. Theorically 10 ordinal transaction (each with size almost 400.000 weight unit) could fill whole block. As for block size data, unfortunately it can't be used either (for this case) since it use byte unit, not weight unit.
Thanks but I'm aware about tx count vs tx size.
For weight, LoyceV has this file- https://loyce.club/blockdata/weight.txt
1178  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How many Bitcoin blocks are not full of transaction - info needed on: April 26, 2023, 08:01:17 AM
You can scrap data from here- https://mempool.space/blocks
It has transactions count, block size etc. (You already checked, my bad but you can get from there).

In better shape, only transactions count here- https://loyce.club/blockdata/transaction_count.txt
And block size here- https://loyce.club/blockdata/size.txt

More useful data- https://loyce.club/blockdata

Try loyce.club as they are organized. Import these data in a excel sheet and filter them as your need.
