11701  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: July 21, 2016, 04:22:13 AM
The Waves team is currently tightly lipped about the current state of the development. They are not giving out any promises. I like this attitude. Better not to promise anything and overdeliver then promise too much and disappoint.

Or maybe they think it is no longer necessary to hype because they already got your money. Cheesy But in all seriousness this is a cycle that I have noticed in an ICO. Too much hype at the beginning and then silence after the ICO. It is clearly them following a marketing strategy. But now we can only hope that they are silent because they are busy working on the project. Let's be patient.
11702  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] STRATIS | Blockchain Development Platform | ICO Starts 20th of June on: July 21, 2016, 04:13:34 AM
Hey, just to confirm it here, I will work on Stratis Bitcoin full node implementation if Stratis manage to raise enough for financing my work.
This will be a bitcoin full node, based on NBitcoin. Easier to debug, compile, and change on your own.

If less than 1000 BTC are raised, is Nicolas Dorier still going to work on and finish this project?

I don't think Stratis will raise enough unless they think the amount raised they have now is enough. But I don't think it is. the much bigger question is will the developers of Stratis stick long enough with little money in their coffers? I fear this will be another forgotten project with developers leaving one by one.
11703  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Technical Analysis of DAO / ETH problem. Is Augur next.. ? on: July 20, 2016, 12:43:33 PM
Then there is a bigger issue at hand here. It's the attacker. He is still at large and after the hard fork he could make another attack when he sees the timing is right. He will also wait for a target good enough so that the impact of an attack will be newsworthy.

If what you say is really true, then the attacker has Ethereum under his thumb. Will Vitalik keep rolling back the transaction history?

How Waves adding to Polo will increase it's price? will Waves have some new features? Waiting for good explanation, thank you. Smiley
By ending the FUD that existed as a result of waves not being in polo, and was one of the factors that prevented its price from rising.

Yeah, hopefully once added the people can see once and for all that waves isnt a scam coin. the devs are taking extra care to insure that everything is in place before releasing anything which is how it should be done. Full node release will come soon and then in the coming weeks hopefully it will get added to polo while development is continued.
Adding to polo will also expose WAVES to a whole bunch of whales trading there.

That is the most practical and most logical answer that I have read in this thread. The others keep regurgitating fantasies and dreams on why Waves will rise in price. But the reality is all projects in the forum tell us the same dreams and promises. I have not seen a project that is adopted and used widely by the mainstream yet. But I have seen a lot fail and still they won't stop promising about the fantasies and dreams.

Please prove me wrong with Waves.
11705  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC on FOX 20: Holm vs. Shevchenko Prediction and Info Thread on: July 20, 2016, 12:11:08 PM
This is just my opinion but I think Shevchenkois the better striker. The fight could be close to evens and betting for value on Valentina is a good gamble. We could see the upset of the night here. I just think Shevchenko wants it more than Holm.
11706  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2016 U.S. Presidential Election Prediction Thread on: July 20, 2016, 11:55:55 AM
I believe Clinton will win. Trump... he has quite alot of votes, but he's a joke! It's insane, someone like Trump going for president!

But then again, Brexit was a joke...

Yeah I think Clinton will win mainly cause people still love bill so much.

Trump im still in shock he made it this far. I'm thinking of betting hillary soon
when everyone is pumped after the repubs finish their convention. After
conventions there usually is a spike in the polls. So maybe betting odds
get better for hillary and can put some money down.

Trump getting this far is a big morale boost. Plus momentum is also on his side. Now I expect him to be smooth from now on. No more weird remarks from him and he will now get to the business at hand. If his campaign is done well, he could be the next US president. My bet is on Trump. What bitcoin sportsbook offers this? Directbet has stale lines.
11707  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Decentralized blockchain-based blogging systems? on: July 20, 2016, 11:20:18 AM
I expect for the other developers to copy Steemit and organize an ICO in order to collect money from the public. Maybe there will be another 4 or 5 projects just like this one. This is really disappointing because there's no more originality. Why not create a project that involves something else like a bittorrent social media platform where everyone can share all the movies, music, books, games and everything else. Like Spotify but for the cryptosphere.
11708  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: STEEM price speculation thread on: July 20, 2016, 08:43:48 AM
I'm selling my earnings as soons as possible... this bubble is about to explode. The numbers dont match, it's all FOMO.

When the majority thinks one thing will happen the opposite usually happens. I have seen this over and over again like the market is playing with my mind leaving me frustrated. But yes to be safe it is better to stay away if you have missed going in at the low price before the rise. But the ones who are timing the market well did a good job trading Steem.
11709  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How much can u lose with gambling? on: July 20, 2016, 08:39:14 AM
Youll lose as much btc as you have since theres no guarantee on always winning on a gambling site. You may win at first and then suddenly youll experience massive lossing streaks and you keep on betting and  make higher of each bet then you lose in the end which is a very bad thing to happen in gambling.

That is a sign that you should not gamble ever. Discipline is one trait that should be emphasized if someone is just starting and learning to gamble. The money may be nothing to you but when you lose it all you will realize that it is really indeed important. Yes even the small amounts.
11710  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling vs Betting on: July 20, 2016, 08:34:47 AM
I think you are wrong when written this topic, gambling is same with betting. it's another word that spoken and have the same meaning and significance.

I think by betting the OP means the sport betting, he want to know about sports betting and about gambling, but still both are the same the only difference is that one is based on luck and the other on skills.
Many people are believing sports betting does require only skill to make your profits from it. But in my experience with the sports betting also you must need to be very much lucky to crack your profits. Without being lucky no gamblers would be able to make profits from their gambling nor sports betting.

Yes luck is a factor but not as big as you think it is. Skill is a much bigger factor because capital management, bet sizing and looking for the best lines are the fundamentals that a sportsbettor needs to succed. That plus knowing the sport you are betting in is a must. And keep in mind that you are sportsbetting for the long term so any variance you have should be accepted. Losses are part of the game, you cannot win everytime. If you notice that you are losing and leaking money then you need to learn more about it.
11711  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: do you like slot games ? on: July 20, 2016, 08:28:42 AM
Slot games are fun. I like them if I am bored and try to pass the time. I remember one time I went to the casino and wanted to play some slots. But when I came to one machine a person said he was playng it on auto pilot. Then I decided to transfer and he also said he had money in it on auto pilot. I noticed that he put money in 1 row of machines all of them on auto pilot. Grin Crazy gambler.
11712  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Steem pyramid scheme revealed on: July 20, 2016, 06:26:42 AM
I do not believe the people here in the forum are buying the Steems at Poloniex. Most of the people here and the lurkers including me are a little bit aware of all news and movements of altcoins. The price of Steem now is too steep and of course it is common sense that you have to wait for it to go down. But the smart ones who bought low are now very quiet counting their money. The others who have missed it of course will become noisy because there's no money to count. That is the sad reality but it is ok. It is only human nature. Grin
11713  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2016 U.S. Presidential Election Prediction Thread on: July 20, 2016, 06:19:16 AM
Trump is officially nominated to become the presidential bet of the Republicans just tonight. Does anybody know the latest lines in the US election? Trump might be an underdog but I think he will win.
11714  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: July 20, 2016, 03:21:30 AM
Steem hit poloniex, and waves? When this will happen?

They won't until they at the very least have full nodes and can audit them.  Even then it will depend on whether they feel like listing it or not.  They took forever with Decred.

You can't compare Decred to Waves. Tbh Decred seemed like a scam at the time it was first announced. No offense to the people behind it, it was just my initial reaction at first glance. With Waves coming in as one of the largest crowd funded projects could be taken more seriously. This is all just my first impressions so take it as you will.
11715  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ICO LIVE] STRATIS | C# Blockchain Development Platform | ICO ends in 7 days on: July 20, 2016, 03:06:32 AM
Ok, considering the price of each Stratis is not even over 400 satoshi right now.

Greetings,

Distribute the 84M stratis to the early adopters.
 those who contributed &
Supported stratis from day one.. they deserve it.

  Build the tech, they'll come!

  Peer2peer36o

That is the worst way to do it. I suggest doing what Ethereum did. Loan money and then hire market makers and traders to make trading have high volume. It will encourage the people to get in and buy the coin.
11716  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ICO LIVE] STRATIS | C# Blockchain Development Platform | ICO ends in 7 days on: July 20, 2016, 03:04:06 AM
Stratis doing great so far  Smiley
i think stratis can be better then steem. And think about it.Now is low price and if in 2 years they will do great job.We can also see stratis for 5$ or more.  Wink

What made you make that projection to $5? Is this really true? If yes please prove it be posting the details why you think it will rise to $5. I would really appreciate that.
11717  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LSK] Lisk | Blockchain Application Platform for JavaScript Developers on: July 20, 2016, 03:00:23 AM
I see that people are getting very anxious now. But anxiuos of what really? Maybe it is because Steem is going up so fast and now they are entitled to see their own holdings of Lisk to go up also. But it is very understandable because you money that you bet on Lisk. I can tell you, you can scream and yell all day the market will still not move for you. Cheesy Be patient or leave and save yourself the headache.
11718  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you think Facebook is responsible for the content posted by their users? on: July 19, 2016, 02:13:07 PM
There is an anticonstitutionalist organization that what to make Facebook pay for what the users post on it... They believe Facebook is responsible for terrorists attacks Huh

In my opinion it is insane. Beside the assault of the second amendment there is a strong community worldwide fighting to dismantle freedom of speech too...

Anyway good luck censoring steem, synero or what ever uncensorable networks... What I fear is that once they get Facebook responsible they could then censor and make everyone hosting a node on a p2p network responsible...

They could try. But what if the terrorists or people who support the terrorists set up a node and fund it themselves? How can they stop P2P networks when more and more people will get serious in using it? If they attempt to criminalize running a P2P node then they will push it to the underground. That is something they don't want to happen because it woild even more impossible for them to stop it.
11719  Other / Politics & Society / Re: We Could Be Living In Simulation Says Elon Musk on: July 19, 2016, 02:07:49 PM
I hope you guys realize that these types of "theories" are a dime a dozen, all you need is a few six-packs, some good weed (DMT or peyote for a more immersive experience complete with all-encompassing truths) and a bunch of friends. I had plenty of these sessions while at uni and every time the stuff we came up with was Nobel prize material  Grin

You don't think Elon Musk's argument is valid when he said we have developed so much in technology that in over a thousand years it would be possible to construct a simulation that will be very realistic, you won't know the difference. If it is possible, then it is possible that we are living in one now.
11720  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The religion of the future on: July 19, 2016, 02:04:07 PM
i would like to think that organized religion would have been discarded in the dustbin of history. unfortunately its claws are buried much too deep in the psyche of gullible followers, while reaping untold benefits for the opportunists who operate them.

Yes this is very true. Most religions want the people to remain poor and uneducated because they will be easier to oppress and manipulate. What kind of people are those who spread the word of god supposedly but are really opportunists that only use the people for money and influence. They are the same as the people running the government.
