Anyone dual mining with 6 x 480 rig? How many watts from the wall? Hot cables?
1182  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Radeon released RX 480. (Card is Released) on: June 30, 2016, 11:11:50 AM

i presume those were without any 6 pin, just absorbing power from the pci-e

You are right. And without tdp mod.

Everyone can google "melted atx connector", we are about to see more of these.

You need the Asrock H61/81 pro btc and fill the two +12 V on the mother board or use powered risers now.

He's right. In a mining usage, you need specifical hardware, to deliver more power than the cards actually consume.

That doesn't fix the problem it just moves it to different connector. Molex, psu modular cable connectors both cable and psu side are next in line. Only real fix is new bios that limits the power drawn from pcie-slot/ riser. Or 8-pin pcie connector.

Just FYI - the problem with reference 480 is that it stresses pcie power
just for comparison - 480 draws 80w in stock (up to 100w OC) from pcie connector (290x - 32w, 380x - 48w) this is 24/7 it will stress your motherboard 12v or USB/Ribbon riser power - so it might a good idea to wait and see what happens to reference/custom design in this regard
now - its 80w minimum per card - so 6 should draw at least 480W through risers - and even with molex splitting up in 2 separate 12V lines in PSU might burn you risers/card slots (some use molex to sata - which is much worse)
Just be really careful with multiple 480 rigs!

for comparison with 290x and 380x read here under Update 6 https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/4qfwd4/rx480_fails_pcie_specification/

Normally it is ATX power connector (12V pins) that gives up first. And you don't need six cards to do that, I have done it with only two gtx 750ti.

If I learned anything here is that if something sounds too good to be true... it's a fucking scam.

GBP is one fucking scam  Cool

Thank you Satlite and Antantti for both of your help. In your opinion which R9 390 brand has that high asic quality?

It is all random. For my XFX 390, the ASIC is from 62 to 79. Mostly in the middle. The difference of brand should not affect the ASIC.

True, it is one big lottery.

Japinat, what is your voltage on those 62 and 79 cards under load?

I have a few. For the same frequency, the voltage on the 62 is around 1.00V, the 79 is 0.945V for 972 MHz. So 5% voltage, 10% power difference.

They go that low? Worst XFX I have is 76, need to take another look at them...

Have you guys tried the OP's 390 rom mod?

I haven't because I am happy with my 390`s @ -100mV. It is really easy though, just make sure you have cards with bios switch so you can always revert back if something goes wrong.

Hawaii cards with high asic quality can have default bios with up to -100mV compared low asic quality cards.

160w needs 0.97 volts and 960/1000 clocks, hashrate is ~27MH by then. Best cards do that with -100mV.

You really should move away from multipool.us, that pool is for asic miners.

Try nicehashminer, that is an easy way to start. Not most profitable but easy, you only need BTC address to begin with.

hello, i'm trying this miner.... v4.6 i have 3 gpu directly on my motherboard... and usualy mine whit ethermine and all work ok.. when start this miner find only 1 gpu... how i can fix this?
i have modify virtual memory in 16GB .... and i have installed amd crimson 15.12 ... this is good amd driver?? Catalyst v15.12 = Crimson v.15.12?? if now where i can download Catalyst v15.12?

thanks for all

I don't know if this helps but I have seen this happening when using remote desktop connection. With vnc it finds all gpu's.

Yelp, some people made a tidy profit buying up Ethereum on the cheap.

The DAO is a smart contract on Ethereum, which is why the transactions are added to Ethereum Block Chain after 27 days.

So, it is Ethereum who is saving its' little brother (DAO), who screwed up Roll Eyes

Hard Forks have already occurred on Ethereum (Frontier to Homestead).

Biggest profits were made shorting dao & eth & btc. I wonder if that was the original plan actually. Do whatever fork you want, already got my fiat.
1193  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Which GPU to purchase with $200 for Ethereum mining? on: June 16, 2016, 05:34:37 PM
Used nano's start rolling to market at 300-325€ range, not $200 but still worth mentioning.
1194  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ask safe Overclock for optimize R9 390 (non X) on: June 16, 2016, 12:08:12 AM
Overvolted 390 can't do better than that? Set your fan speed to 100%.
1195  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Which GPU to purchase with $200 for Ethereum mining? on: June 15, 2016, 11:46:26 PM
i think the problem may occur only with more than a certain number of gpu, say 5-6

i noticed this in many algo, now on neoscrypt i'm getting 20-30 kh less on each card that is running with the g1840, the single card running with the i7 beast is sitting at 670-678 EVEN when i use the pc

but perhaps it has to do because of the number of gpu itself, the more gpu you have in one rig, the more hash you lose overall on that rig? can anyone confirm?

we are however talking about minimal losses, nothing major...

Some algo/os/cpu/ram/miner combos are cpu limited when you have multiple GPU´s.
1196  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Power supply for 6x R9 390 on: June 15, 2016, 12:35:05 AM
Two PSU 1000w minimum each.

That is what I call clever mining.

Also, not so long ago everyone could buy SC for 3 satoshi...
1198  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell kernels. on: June 12, 2016, 12:29:26 AM
Nothing against nicehash, looks like a fair market to me. I really loved buying cheap 1GH of X11 back in may 2014.

But the idea about sp going open and suddenly there would rain free money for everyone...
1199  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell kernels. on: June 11, 2016, 11:01:49 PM
From what I can tell, NiceHash spurred other devs to create improved products.  I don't see their investment as a fork in the ass at all.  In fact, I'm certain that NiceHash is getting more than their money back in mining fees from the improved hash rates of their customers.

This is a Win-Win scenario for Nicehash and their customers.  It's just good business.  It's actually more than just a win-win for NiceHash and customers.  This is win-win-win-win... now that it has spurred mining and blockchain expansion throughout the crypto-coin community.

Win-win, win-win-win-win and crypto-coin community. Haha!

1200  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ethminer-0.9.41-genoil-1.1 on: June 11, 2016, 06:48:31 PM
I notice when using ethminer on Windows 7, opencl, AMD 290X that the global overdrive settings for the Fan don't seem to work.
Is this hard coded to override in ethminer?  How can I increase the fan speed (currently on 55%, which isn't bad, but wanting to turn it up)
Also I'm getting 24MH, is that bad?  Can I tweak things to go higher?

Msi afterburner will allow you gain much more control over the gpus so that you can undervolt and change fan speeds as well create custom fan profiles.

24 mh is a bit slow, you should be able to get atleast 25 mh per card or more depending if you over clock.  But from what I read is that can change a bit depending the type of ram the card contains and some other things.  try adding this into the miner bat for starters, --cl-global-work 16384  --cl-local-work 256

Thanks for the info! that parameter got me 25mh.
Was there a new DAG just a few days ago?  I remember getting 28-29 not too long ago, or maybe my memory is just bad.
Any recommended core/memory clocks?  I have an R9 Reference card (still going strong) and I believe it's "Hawaii"

Try older 15 series drivers, for some reason these new 16 series give bad performance on windows with genoil's miner.
