11861  Economy / Speculation / Battered bulls, are you fully on board now? on: May 03, 2017, 09:03:37 PM
Those of us who Bitcoin touched inappropriately between 2014/15, are you fully healed and behind this rise?

I'm still not too happy about the Bitfinex thing and would be far more excited if things were back to normal. I can't tell whether that's lingering PTSD or a justified gripe. How are you feeling deep down inside?
11862  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 03, 2017, 06:48:36 PM
Is just for me or this continuous rise in price feels so manipulated by finex, aren't all the prices in other exchanges keep beeing pushed because of finex fake price? I'm so confused...

Quite possibly. I'd be considerably more convinced if BFX had a fork stuck in it. They're the fisting that never seems to stop giving long after you've been sewn up again.
11863  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 03, 2017, 06:24:28 PM
When do we switch to Bits and move the decimal point over 3 places?

Careful now. That's starting to sound like bubble talk.
11864  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 03, 2017, 04:43:56 PM
listing a coin to an exchange will result in kapital 'bleeding away' ? You guys cant buy ltc without that listing or something? Yes thats righ, sell the news traders, meh york is not impressed. LTC is shit.

Coinbase isn't just another exchange. It caters to a different crowd than hardened traders. It may well tempt quite a few people to have a casual flutter.

However it has been on GDAX for over a year and nothing happened until recently.
11865  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 03, 2017, 04:36:14 PM
Prepare for some money bleeding to LTC ...

https://boards.4chan.org/biz/thread/2022872

Interesting, but I don't recall any coin being added to anywhere having that dramatic an effect in the short/medium term but it sets things up for future pumps. What really would be interesting is if they start to use it for merchant processing. It might only be a matter of time.
11866  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC price break 1459 USD, is it too late to invest in Bitcoin? on: May 03, 2017, 03:23:24 PM
I wouldn't be bothering with BTC until Bitfinex is dead or resolved. There's too much murkiness in this rise. Anything above $1150-1200 might purely be because of this.

And why would anyone consider buying BTC when it's at an ATH? Don't be a sheep.

I don't think this is anywhere near being a full on peak, but equally there's no compelling reason for it to be this high either right now.

If someone wants in, spread the buys over a period of weeks or months. Imagine if you'd gone all in at the 2013 ATH versus buying steadily over six months. You would've wound up with far more coins with the same outlay.

No one can predict anything, but they can do a little hedging. Long term it's still looking good. Short term there's plenty of potential for tits to go up.

And perhaps anyone considering taking out loans should be encouraged to do so, because by the sounds of it a horribly painful lesson like that is the only way such morons will ever learn.
11867  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Poloniex isn't the best place to trade alts on: May 03, 2017, 02:35:02 PM
It's possible that by eliminating some minor altcoins, Poloniex can streamline their services. Maybe they can focus better with fewer coins to deal with.

They already do that to an extent. But I can't imagine they'd want to become a top 5 only type of place. It's the prospect of pumping the smaller coins that pulls people in.
11868  Other / Off-topic / Re: Would you kill your own children if God commanded you to? on: May 03, 2017, 02:33:58 PM
If god told me to do that I'd tell him/her/it to suck my dick. As him/her/it allegedly created my dick I would then sit back and enjoy the finest blow job of my entire life, not that I like them very much anyway.
11869  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Bitfinex situation - how long will it take? on: May 03, 2017, 01:42:28 PM
Anyone who gets back any of their lost money should consider themselves very lucky.

They can get their crypto back right now, but they will lose a percentage because of the premium.

Poll result is depressing.
No.
Its a good thing.
Cut out the rotten exchanges.
Bitfinex needs to die, its corrupted by greed.
Greed= short term
Added value+transparency = long term
We dont need Bitfinex, let them rot.

Agreed. Bitfinex is the final hangover from Bitcoin's fucked up early days. It's incredible that it still managed to stay on top for so long considering what a shit hole it is. They should do an orderly shut down and leave but they won't do that. They're working themselves up to a final violation.
11870  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-04-29]In Bitfinex Explained Who and Why Spreads Rumors About the Possible on: May 03, 2017, 01:33:04 PM
Another suspicious trend is the premium between Bitstamp and BFX has shrunk from 10% to 5%, which suggests that someone on the inside is able to transfer their money out, even with BFX's claims otherwise. The owner of the exchange has been caught saying that he's "talking to their biggest customers", which to me makes me think he's catering to a few whales to keep his paycheck coming. Not that it surprises me at all.

They've said that anyone with a Taiwanese bank account can get money in and out fine, it's when you have to send it abroad that you hit a wall. I presume that means there are a few people with accounts there arbing the shit out of it which might explain the contracting spreads.

But yes, I think something's brewing for Bitfinex's final buttfuck. It's never been anything other than a liability.
11871  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Died the oldest inhabitant of the Earth. on: May 03, 2017, 12:10:23 AM
I don't know true or not, but if it is true then imagine how his life changed from the moment of birth. He has witnessed 2 world wars, the advent of electricity. Started with horses and ended car. In the 20th century had the most changes. I would also like to see what will come up in the future.

I don't think there'll ever be another century like the 20th again. Just think of the leaps that took place. From flight being a pipe dream to landing on the moon.

The future seems to be getting poxier and more introverted by the day. When I was born they were still talking about Mars bases. Now the shit that gets the most media coverage is a redesigned home button on an IPhone.

I was watching stuff from the 90s the other day. Internet aside, nothing's changed. People dress the same, talk the same, the music and films from back then could be released today and no one would notice any difference.

There is pretty much nothing interchangeable between the 50s and the 70s. The last truly charismatic decade was the 80s, and maybe not for the most appealing reasons.

Progress seems to have disappeared up a tech arse while the rest of the world stagnates.
11872  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Died the oldest inhabitant of the Earth. on: May 02, 2017, 11:46:53 PM
Hmm. What could be easier to achieve? Live for over 20 years longer than any other recorded human being...

Or claim to?
11873  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are bitcoin cash machines becoming more popular? on: May 02, 2017, 11:08:31 PM
I can't really see it being a thing that'll ever explode. Their fees are usually too high, some of them have ludicrous AML requirements, and presumably once you've used one and gotten into Bitcoin you find cheaper options.
11874  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is Bitfinex turning into Mt. Gox? on: May 02, 2017, 10:28:26 PM
If they are holding a large number of money it will be hard to them to fix this issue it takes time or spend more time to solve their bank issue..
Just lets hope that it will not be the same as other exchange site that was crash and gone after some issue like hack or under ddos attack and gone after few days of fixing,. and never give the money back from their customer..

Even if the banking problem remains, I assume they can find a way to do a one time transfer to give everyone their fiat back. They were talking about doing it through their law firm.
11875  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is Bitfinex turning into Mt. Gox? on: May 02, 2017, 10:10:28 PM
Why they are not move to other bank instead and find a bank that allow to accept send and receive..
So i think looking for other bank is not a problem if they are have concern about their customer and they dont have plan to scam anyone

It's not just them that have a problem. Many other payment companies that deal with Taiwan have the same problem. Taiwan is being frozen out of international banking until they improve their regulations. Unless they can find somewhere outside Taiwan they're going to have problems. I assume the reason they bank through there is because it's hard for them to get conventional banking elsewhere. It's not going to be easy.
11876  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: May 02, 2017, 09:48:24 PM
NEM also needs greater exchange exposure. For some reasons XEM is not yet traded on many important exchanges, there is a list where ETH is traded and XEM is not right now, so as you can see there is plenty of space for additional volume for XEM. And I'm not speaking only few pairs that are traded with XEM. Is there any effort to get XEM on these exchanges?

Some of those exchanges don't get any bigger. XEM would have to be at the tippy top for a long time for them to consider it. There's no shortage of other coins with similar volumes. In another few months it may be kicking enough arse to be considered.

I think it'll make more of an impact in Japan and then work its way over. Japan sounds like they're about to rev up.
11877  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 02, 2017, 08:19:21 PM
Looks like there's still some margin longs left...

https://www.bfxdata.com/positions/btcusd

p.s. hope you don't mind my fork of your kittinger  Wink

I wonder what proportion of active traders have left there by now. If only they upped their communication there would be a lot more confidence despite their woes.

And I feel my Kittinger is more ethereal, but at least neither of ours has a Red Bull logo.
11878  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Poloniex isn't the best place to trade alts on: May 02, 2017, 08:16:14 PM
Also, everybody needs to remember that Polo is pretty much the biggest cryptocurrency exchange, so the volume is really high.
Personally, I dont know any place better for alt trading than Poloniex.

I automatically don't trust any one place that becomes that influential.

What would happen to the alt market if it went down in flames? And there've certainly been some questionable moments such as their pre delisting pumps and the way ETC was launched.
11879  Economy / Economics / Re: Is bitcoin dead? on: May 02, 2017, 08:12:51 PM
I wish I had a BTC everytime BTC died
That means I would have 127 BTC.

check the link!
https://99bitcoins.com/bitcoinobituaries/

There's the kernel of an idea in there. Perhaps every author who achieves a listing in there with a declaration of death should receive a crowdfunded 0.05 BTC just to piss them off when they bin it and check the price in a couple of years.
11880  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitpay partners with Bitmain to develop open source software on: May 02, 2017, 08:09:51 PM
Obviously they're out for themselves, but they're going around it by committing to Bitcoin's general growth too. Many companies are too dim to figure that out. They're one of the companies with proper long term vision.
