11881  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Could Ethereum takeover Bitcoin? on: July 11, 2016, 06:07:11 AM
So, what are your opinions... if Bitcoin gets trouble, could Ethereum become the crypto-leader?

As it was shown to all of us, bitcoin is still king. Nothing will surpass it in the near future I think. All the venture capitalist money will still be invested in bitcoin and they will not touch Ethereum because of the hacking.
11882  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Synereo vs Steem, which one will lead the decentralized social media revolution? on: July 11, 2016, 06:02:44 AM
So I just became aware of this concept of token-powered decentralized social networks tonight and am doing some research.  I see two main contenders: Synereo and Steem.  When all factors are considered: fairness to content creators, ease of use for lurkers, fairness of mining... which one do you think will win the impending war of decentralized social media?

It is hard to say. But steem has a product out and synereo it is still in development. But steem has first mover advantage. Let's see if synereo can come after it.
11883  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Losing investment on Gambling sites on: July 11, 2016, 05:54:49 AM
Yoy cannot expect any investment to be risk-free, if such a thing existed we all would be doing it. In my opinion, investing in gambling sites yields to a profit at least 9 out of 10 times, if you want to increase your chances of earning something just open several investments across different casinos.

The only risks are a whale trashing the casino's bankroll (sometimes that only affects the short-term and your investment will recover itself with the time) or the site being "hacked" (i.e. the owners running away with investor's money).

I would say, go on! By the way, I think this topic has already been discussed more than once in the past. Next time do your own research first.

Are there any instances where the owners ran away with investors' funds? How often does this happen in the bitcoin world?
11884  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: the easiest way to make a profit from gambling? on: July 11, 2016, 05:31:45 AM
hello, I would like to try my luck from gambling.

what kind of gambling that you think is easy to make a profit? and what strategies are you using?

If you want easy profit you should play bacarrat and bet everything at once. When you win it is an easy profit. But when you lose it is easy loss. But that is ok because you are looking for easy profit.
11885  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin Gambling is Exploding on: July 11, 2016, 05:27:47 AM
Well Bitcoin is getting popular nowadays and I think there are people who have realized the potential of gambling through bitcoin because bitcoin gambling site are just a fingertips away.
And people can play anonymously and aside from getting free satoshi in faucets it is not a big problem playing it.

I guess Bitcoin is not that much popular, this is just popular who's addicted in computer gaming, or in the office like encoders. Because I think if all people know that Bitcoin is really great all people will use this. But here in our family, me and my brother only using bitcoin. Not all of us. but they want to try also, but they didn't know exactly what is it. They want us to explain to them further.  Grin

Yeah that's the only issue with people using btc nowadays in my opinion, is they're just too lazy to actually learn about it and learn how to make profit in other ways than JUST gambling, but that's up to them to try to learn

You really have to see the casino's environments to really understand what draws more and more people into those casinos

They are too lazy to understand us. I think if the time comes that they wanted to become really interested I think they will also forced us to teach them how to use bitcoin. That was exactly what I do when I force my brother to teach me how to use this because at first I really didn't understand everything..

not a problem. so long as they are using bitcoin, they are helping the btc economy.
those that hoard thousands are the ones you need to worry for they can control the market and with just one dump, they can easily drag the price down the floor. but i suppose that won't happen so long as the price continue to go up.

As more people are using bitcoin, bitcoin will be diversified and it will be harder for whales to control the price. I think it will take more than a thousand bitcoins to drop or raise the price of bitcoin now since there are a lot of users already. They will balance the moves of the whales.

But whales have millions of dollars to raise bitcoin's price then they can dump if the price jump is enough for them. I think number of users will not have any real effect on the manipulations of whales.
11886  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When gambling makes you cry. on: July 11, 2016, 05:24:31 AM
Gambling will make you cry when you lose everything. Your house, your job and your family. But losing a few thousand satoshis is ok. In fact we should all gamble to support the btc economy.
11887  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do you want to see in Bitcoin casinos? on: July 11, 2016, 05:21:36 AM
Is there a feature that doesn't exist on any of the casinos that you'd like to see? I'm about to meet with some people from Oshi.io and am going to give some ideas to them so people would be happier using our casino Smiley

I want to see better software. The usual bitcoin casinos look cheap. Maybe they should switch to 3D photo realistic graphics?
11888  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Euro 2016 on: July 11, 2016, 05:12:08 AM
Watching France in the final game you would think Sissoko is the 100 million man and Pogba is from the second league. Pogba didn't do enough in this game. Maybe he is thinking of the money he'll get in his transfer.
11889  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Playing poker is a gambling activity? on: July 11, 2016, 05:06:37 AM
I actually mean playing poker professionally, like taking part in tournament's,etc.
Do you think that it is considered all across the world as gambling?

No. Poker is a skill game. But it can be gambling if you want it to be. Just go all in every hand. Grin

11891  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: July 09, 2016, 01:56:39 PM
The Poloniex rejection should be highlighted by everyone.

Rejection?

Not one of you has not get a concrete answer from Polo. No need to jump to conclusions ahead of time. Smiley

True. Maybe it's better to wait and they might get Waves listed. After the DAO attack maybe they aren't planning on adding more coins at the moment.
11892  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hardfork Confirmed. ETH and DAO Price Soaring. on: July 09, 2016, 12:54:44 PM
My only question is if the attacker exploits another smart contract and steals millions again, will Vitalik do another hard fork again? If no, why did they do it the first time?
11893  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: July 09, 2016, 12:31:22 PM
Bid side 262.733 BTC, Sell side 633814.653 BTC. That does not look even to me. It's also funny why Waves is not listed in Poloniex. What is Poloniex criteria for a coin to get listed? Are they more strict than Bittrex?

Yeah it's funny, poloniex is really serious (maybe more than bittrex) and from a few months it doesn't really add all the scamcoin/altcoin. Maybe Polo. isn't interested to waves, because the project isn't really clear.

What do you mean by "because the project isn't really clear"? Care to explain more?

Why waves was created ? Just to speculate, pump & dump or for a precise reason? I've read that it is a crowdfunding platform but they didn't have a working blockchain (what about the source of those full nodes?).

Ok thank you for the info. I will keep that in mind but I will still follow the development of the platform. The Poloniex rejection should be highlighted by everyone.
11894  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: July 09, 2016, 12:27:27 PM
Congrats to the investors on the price rise. What do you guys think caused the price rise? I mean this isn't just a plain old regular pump, this is a MAJOR price move. So there must be something in the fundamentals that caused this.
DAO hack forced people to look for new promising tech and they found NEM.

You think that's the only reason? If it is really that then the people could also leave and dump NEM the same way they did with Ethereum. But since you mentioned it, what makes NEM better than Ethereum? And how will it surpass other cryptocurrencies in terms of speed of mainstream adoption?
Well then this article is exactly what you want to read, I suppose:
http://blog.nem.io/whats-the-difference-between-xem-btc-and-eth/

That's a good article. Thanks for sharing. In it was mentioned that in NEM you can create custom coins. My question is how and what are they used for in the platform? Do the users themselves create and issue these? And for what reasons are they doing it?
11895  Economy / Gambling / Re: Daily fantasy sport on: July 09, 2016, 12:12:47 PM
There is no good dfs site that accepts bitcoins as of today. Daily fantasy sports is a booming industry and I wish we will have one that accepts btc soon.
11896  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's the easiest sport to win bets at? on: July 09, 2016, 12:09:56 PM
College football (American football) is easiest. The reason why is because there is very much less parity among the teams that are scheduled/forced to play against each other. Meaning that weaker teams often have to play stronger teams.

Teams vie to play in the big bowl games at the end of the year. The bigger bowl games bring more money and prestige to those schools that play in them. Getting to play in the bowl games is based on overall rankings. Because there are so many teams and not enough weeks in the season, the better teams don't always play against each other during the regular season. Because of this, teams not only have an incentive to win against whoever they play, but to win as big as possible even if they are playing a weak team. That means scoring as many points as possible even when the game is in hand.

That's why you see, for example, Alabama Crimson Tide favored to win over Our Lady of Mercy School by +40 points, but you know they will win by at least 50 points if not 60. The Alabama coach will see the betting line and that his team is favored by 40 points, so he will purposely win by more than 50 points to exceed expectations. That's how things are. I kid you not.

Almost every week in College football(American football) there are at least 10 to 12 or more good picks from all the games available.

I have heard a lot of people say this but I never really given it a chance. Can you point me to where I can start reading up about college football? Their teams, line ups, news, etc. TY.
11897  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you consider trading as gambling? on: July 09, 2016, 11:51:45 AM
Just like what I said here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1290215.msg15453353#msg15453353

Trading is one example of gambling. Why?
Because gambling is basically putting your money to risk.
You may lose your money if you did not predicted nicely.

You will lose money if you do not use your head and just trade blindly. That is why there is called research and charts. You use them to predict properly and not trade no blindly. If you do that, the risk is lessen and it will not be too much of a gamble. You will be assured of profit for all your trade. Just do your work first before doing trades.

So meaning if a person is not doing his research and just follows what he reads in this forum when he wants to trade altcoins, can that be considered that he is gambling? I think it can be.
11898  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to quit Gambling for good? on: July 09, 2016, 11:49:07 AM
If a person has an addictive personality and is addicted to gambling, he should admit that he has a problem first before he can move on and ask for help. That's the first and very important step to quit for good.
11899  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If gambling is illegal in your country, would you still gamble? on: July 09, 2016, 11:47:02 AM
If gambling is illegal in your country, would you still gamble?

What kind of a question is this? Of course peope will still gamble. There are many forms of illegal gambling in all countries. And now the internet is making it really easy.
11900  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How greedy you are ? on: July 09, 2016, 11:45:13 AM
Greed is not the problem when you lose but discipline is. Most losers have a lack of discipline and have no self control. Greed is good and should be used to motivate us to enrich ourselves. How do you think the billionaires became billionaires? Because only of hard work? No, they were ruthless and greedy also.
