11921  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: July 08, 2016, 06:40:20 AM
Congrats to the investors on the price rise. What do you guys think caused the price rise? I mean this isn't just a plain old regular pump, this is a MAJOR price move. So there must be something in the fundamentals that caused this.
DAO hack forced people to look for new promising tech and they found NEM.

You think that's the only reason? If it is really that then the people could also leave and dump NEM the same way they did with Ethereum. But since you mentioned it, what makes NEM better than Ethereum? And how will it surpass other cryptocurrencies in terms of speed of mainstream adoption?
11922  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 200: Cormier vs. Jones 2 on: July 08, 2016, 06:22:59 AM
The spider Silva? Haha! That doesn't make any sense but I still would love to watch that fight. It would be funny to see him win this fight via a submission. Grin
11923  Other / Politics & Society / What do you think of this political platform? on: July 08, 2016, 06:17:46 AM
This all hypothetical, mind you.

1. End all school funding. It is not the governments responsibility to teach anyone. A child with no money can invest in a school without money if 10% of all future income goes to the school. This would be done by the school not government. Government systems can be used to collect the 10%.

2. End all science funding. Instead a stock will be created and people invest. Thus Space-X and NASA might be moved into a stock IPO where people could invest for $100 per share, maybe 1 billion shares, until profitable. Provide means for other stocks like this homeless shelters ...

3. End all housing money. People could lease land from the government. Limit the amount of land once could own to 43,500 square feet. Stocks would be given a square feet per share rating.

4. End the Income tax (corporate and personal) . 5% sales tax. 2% currency coin clipping tax. Land tax based on the natural resources of the land, about $500 per acre average going up 2% a year. Road use tax.

This is just a start. Social security might be another tax.

Any additions?

Any comments?
11924  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DAO being dissolved - what do you think people will do with all that ETH on: July 08, 2016, 06:13:06 AM
So Stephen Tual confirmed The DAO is getting turned into a withdraw only contract. What do you think people will do when they finally get their ETH from the DAO? Hodl? I don't think so.

I don't think any serious investor outside their core group of insiders will take a look at Ethereum after the attack. The Ethereum Foundation will make it a point to create a marketing campaign to convince the public that everything is fine. Maybe it might work.
11925  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to Turn Gambling into a Profitable Activity on: July 08, 2016, 06:09:06 AM
The secret of healthy gambling is to do it responsibly and in an intelligent manner. There are a whole lot of strategies that players use to make gambling profitable. In this article, we will give an insight on how to make gambling profitable...

http://www.newsbtc.com/2016/06/14/turn-gambling-profitable-activity/

If you play casino games, I doubt it will be profitable. In those games the house has the edge against you. No matter how small that edge is it will always win in the long run because it has the funds to play anyone for the long term. And by the way, the funds they play against you came from you and all the other gamblers. Smiley
11926  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ARDR][NO ICO] Ardor, or Nxt 2.0, a Scalable Child Chain Platform on: July 08, 2016, 06:05:00 AM
What is the reason why NXT decided to create a child chain? Isn't NXT enough already or is there a technical reason why? Could this be a sort of "reboot" for marketing purposes.

In a glance this looks like a move driven by marketing reasons since NXT never really went anywhere in that regard.

11928  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage - Working Beta - Currency has been released on: July 08, 2016, 05:55:17 AM
I have read about Storj and came across SIA. How is SIA different than Storj and what does SIA have that makes it better in your opinion?

In all honesty, I became more interested when I saw the price shoot up really quick and thought there might be something in the platform that I missed.
11929  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: July 08, 2016, 05:51:30 AM

That looks really good. Sleek and simple, I like it. But really, is it the only reason that XMR is rising right now? Are we sure the devs aren't hiding anything good from the public? Wink

It would really be nice to have a nice surprise. Not much good news in the cryptosphere lately.
11930  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: July 08, 2016, 05:44:31 AM
How is Waves different compared to Nxt? And what does it do better?

I'm sorry, but at first glance, I couldn't see how it is really that different from Nxt or maybe the upcoming Ardor? Please discuss.

Hi peeps. I have yet to get a reply from the more knowledgeable people of Waves. As the quote says above, I would please like to know what Waves can do better and how can it actually do better than Nxt in terms of adoption and in different business use cases. Anyone?

Sorry guys, too lazy to back read this humongous thread, but can someone post a pic of what the official GUI would look like?

And it looks like XMR is doing well in the exchanges recently. Any chance that's because of the release of the GUI or do you speculate that it could be something else?

11933  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: OFFICIAL EURO 2016 Discussion and Tips Thread on: July 07, 2016, 11:32:01 AM
I think Germany wins this, France is not that good through all tournament, Albania almost had them, the only good match was vs Iceland, but come on...

I would have to disagree. Germany has 4 of its key players in injury and will not be able to play later. France on the other hand is a much more motivated team. This is their time of revenge because of their elimination from the World Cup 2014 quarter finals thanks to Germany. And their attack has been very superb. This tournament's top goal scorers vs an injury plagued team, which would you pick?

11935  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 200: Cormier vs. Jones 2 on: July 07, 2016, 11:11:05 AM
I think I actually hate Jon Jones now.  Will he be banned in the UFC for life? He ruined UFC 200 and lost the company millions of dollars in revenue.
11936  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Euro 2016 on: July 07, 2016, 11:03:58 AM
Mario Gomez, Sami Khedira, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Matt Hummels will miss todays game against France. This game will be very hard for Germany. France as the host of this Euro2016 tournament has an advantage and the head to head between both teams says that France had a good record. I think France will quallify to the final!

That's very possible. Fearless forecast, France 3 - 1 Germany. France will be relentless in the attacking third in this game.
11937  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: First Litecoin iOS Wallet is on the App Store (LoafWallet) on: July 07, 2016, 10:59:51 AM
This looks good but who will use the wallet? There are not much merchants that accept litecoin. And the ones that do also accept bitcoins, and people prefer to use the latter because it presumably is more valuable going to the future. While ltc is in the cross roads.

Going out on limb here, people that have iPhones and like LTC. I think that's the user base.

Exactly. I hope the number of users would matter and that they actually be active users with enough daily transaction volume. What good is a wallet or an app if you download it and not use it?
11938  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is dogecoin worth to invest? on: July 07, 2016, 10:51:54 AM
Haters gonna hate but Doge is the 3rd widely used crypto. It's a fact, deal with it.

Do you have the numbers that show this is true? And if it is, how much do merchants and users spend in dogecoin per month? Is it enough that it would matter as a "currency" like bitcoin?
11939  Other / Politics & Society / The religion of the future on: July 07, 2016, 10:39:31 AM
Do you think there is a possibility of new religions popping up in the future that gain a large scale following? And thought, "give it 2000 years".

In the information age and accurate record keeping, I think it would be hard for another religion to spawn in the traditional sense of a religion based on a god, unless there was an actual revealing of a god. IMO there will be no new god based religions, but maybe only something along the lines of Buddhism.

Thoughts?
11940  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you Rich from Gambling? on: July 07, 2016, 08:36:03 AM
Only the top 1% - 5% become rich in gambling. The same as in other aspects of life. It takes a lot of hard work, make the right decisions and luck to become rich. It is not easy.
