Ah well. I guess the Winklevii still feel they have too much money. They may as well go and burn some more. I like the way they think.

I had coins on a paper wallet sitting there for the best part of four years created with it. At no point did they do a runner. If Bitaddress.org, and not some pathetic ripoff, was compromised we'd certainly be hearing about it.

Pah. China's dead for everything now. And most alts never took off there anyway. That's if it's true of course. What I'd be really interested to see is if they go after the miners. They are effectively running unregulated money presses.

The tether market on Poloniex is tiny. Similarly if you want to buy on Bitfinex you're not going to already have Tether, you have to send real dollars. If you want to cash out you're certainly not going to want Tether either. You cash out with real dollars. Tether is not much use for anything other than parking your money for a while. It's a drag but it certainly isn't lording over the market. Previous to this strife how many times have you heard it mentioned here?

I know about their problems but I never had this kind of problems, also it just happened on localbitcoins too. I just withdraw all my coins from all websites, this is scary already.
Then the security problem is at your end. You must have been compromised somehow or they socially engineered your phone and email access. Wipe your machines, reset your accounts and start again. I hope you didn't withdraw your coins to the same machine you use for internet access.

If you have security concerns in general you're certifiably mental to be on Bitfinex in the first place. If they're not competent enough to prevent the exodus of tens of thousands of coins, don't expect them to be any more careful with your coins.

IIRC it's called a passphrase. It's a backup of your wallet that is encrypted. It means you can not use that to import your address in another wallet. If you want the accessible backup, export your privatekey and save it in a document or print a scannable version of it so you can import it in any allet which supports address importing.
No it isn't. It's a seed. You can use it in any other wallet that works similarly and the same addresses and coins will be in there. It's all you need to backup or move your coins wherever you want if it's BIP 39 or 44 like Trezor and a few others.

Is the 12 word is my private key backup? Yes. It's the backup for all private keys created in that wallet as it creates a new address with each transaction. You can also import those 12 words into other wallets that use the same system and your coins will be there too.

LOL Seriously? "Good Terror" & "Bad Terror" in Pakistan! That's the most the disgusting thing that I ever heard in my life... Terrorists are all terrorist there's no good or bad terror they're all the same, dude! History is littered with terrorist groups with tacit state support. And there certainly will be other groups who are around at the same time diametrically opposed the goals of the first. Of course they're all disgusting but in the eyes of power brokers some of them have their uses.

Don't get me wrong, it's the only alt I actually fully believe in, but all alt valuations are still the whims of uneducated whales. In 3-5 years that won't be the case, but it is for now however you want to frame it.

If this price was the result of a multi month grind then it would be a fine thing. It's pretty rapid so be careful out there, kids. It's far less insulting a pump than the one that took place last June but keep one's wits about one.

If a witness of jehovah leave to join islam, jehovah witness are in trouble... a fatwa from peshawar and gone. Ahaha... i find this very funny.
Seriously, what happen when leaving for a non radical muslim extremist congregation? Let's say to become atheist (aka only backed by the state whose forces are fighting the drug war)...
Obviously you're not going to have your head cut off, but it's very similar to Scientology in terms of the insularity and pressure to reject the outside world. If you leave them there's a good chance you also lose your friends and family if they remain involved. And you become a non person.

I don't buy this.
I have a stock market fund that basically sits there and does fuck all while others are furiously buying and selling and throwing customer money away. It has doubled in less than four years with lower fees than others and has beaten almost all of the frenzied funds. I won't be doing anything with it for a long time to come.
Similarly with crypto these days if you wait around long enough you'll get another pump. I think the whole thing is about enter a next level of hugeness so there's no way I'd be chopping and changing. I'll be sitting back and reaping the benefits. I'll qualify that by saying I'd only do it with an alt that I truly believed had a serious future of which there are only a handful. All the other ones are fair game and I'll juggle them with impunity.

It looks like it. He also feels eerily like Tony Blair. Someone who'll tell everyone everything and leave an unpleasant taste in the mouth once he's history. Bizarre that the of the two contenders, one has two MPs and the other has none. That's a message to the old school.

While quite a few individual countries are making encouraging noises, the EU itself is sounding increasingly overbearing. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out. The Japan thing certainly puts the ball in the court of other governments.

I've known of a few Jehovah types. No one can say Russia is exactly the bastion of human rights, but there are certainly elements of their behaviour which easily qualify as a cult. Try leaving them and see what happens.

Yeah, but which wallet should I put them first? Currently they are held at Poloniex exchange which is probably not very smart for long-term holding.
Indeed. That's a terrible idea. Move them to the Nano wallet for the sake of convenience and get the private key from there - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJZFw2b3b1sOr there's this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52RxRui_dgc but last time I checked the mobile wallet it didn't seem to want me to put real coins on there.

What is safest, not very sophisticated way for holding your XEM? I checked a few popular hardware wallets (Trezor, Ledger Nano S) and these don't support XEM Print your private key and store it somewhere safe. You can insert it into any wallet you want when the time comes to move or spend.

I think what people fail to realise about weapons systems, especially cutting edge ones, is that they're all prototypes at heart.
The phone or car you use has been refined over million of copies until it's not too far off perfect. You can't do the same with a complex weapon. Look how long and agonising any weapon procurement is these days.
I can imagine the missile program is the one area North Korea isn't going to skimp on, but that's no guarantee they won't fail miserably.
