121  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Re bitcoin can be hacked on: February 11, 2018, 08:24:24 PM
There's a lot of intelligent individuals especially hackers now a days. For me, I think bitcoin assures the security of their users so they come up of having paper wallet etc. So in our part maybe we should think a strongest password and make sure to always logout and dont share personal info:) to prevent this kind of event.
That's basic internet security tips. I learned those things a long, long time ago and my children learned them in grade school. I don't think there are many people who don't have some kind of knowledge when it comes to these basics, but actually applying the knowledge is a completely different story. Most of the time it just comes down to not going to sketchy sites, have 2FA enabled and don't use online wallets if you really want to have dedicated security for your wallet. Cold storage will always beat any password or security system that you try to implant.

Bitcoin can potentially be broken by using a brute force attack, much like any other protection system based on keys. I believe that is still a long way away to happen.
122  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Earn bitcoins and altcoins on: February 10, 2018, 09:20:35 PM
The point of the thread was earning btc and altcoins. I suggested one way and heard great ideas of other ways of working for btc and altcoins.

If you have some knowledge about criptos and some time, it is not to difficult to curate a good list of ICOs with relevant succinct information that are normally welcome by the community.
123  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: How do I know a bounty program is good? on: February 10, 2018, 12:23:37 AM
I see how much the project team is professional and what it has done before. It is also better to start participating in the bounty when the team showed good results on the pre-sale.

Time and money play a role after checking the project itself. Just make sure that the value you will get is worth the effort as many campaigns pay very little or have low chance of reaching the soft cap.
124  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: How do I know a bounty program is good? on: February 10, 2018, 12:22:30 AM
The very first thing in task of assessing of bounty program is the assessment how decent the project behind ICO actually is. Once you obtain the confidence in the project and ICO parameters reasonableness, use a calculator to get understanding how many tokens you can be rewarded and what is value of these tokens. As simple as that!
Definetly yes, when you join a campaign you are effectively becoming their partner. Just think that you are going to share your time with someone and that someone has to be as trustable as yourself.
125  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Media is negative about Bitcoin? on: February 08, 2018, 09:54:44 PM
Media is always scared of what they cannot control. Decentralisation goes against control by design, so the media are trying to scare people away to keep the control they have over the masses.
126  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is it true bitcoin will fall to the leve of $1800 or $1500 ? on: February 08, 2018, 09:52:20 PM
It is unlikely in the near future (letīs say a couple of years). If it reaches that level, I am quite sure that I am betting my own house on it LOL No, seriously, I think that it canīt happen.
127  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Destroyed my life-bitcoin Investor on: February 08, 2018, 09:51:05 PM
I recently heard about a Korean teenager that killed himself after loosing all his saving to Bitcoin. How many time do we have to say: invest only what you can afford to loose. And that means what you are emotionally prepared to loose.
128  Economy / Economics / Re: Make money from money on: February 07, 2018, 12:33:34 PM
Yes, investing is the only way to make money from money but we all know that investing is risky so if you want to invest you are the only one that is accountable for all the consequences that you may experience. I suggest you to be wise before you invest all the money that you have. Know first if the company is trusted and legit because there are so many company that is not trusted and the only want is to get your money without any return. Be careful on what company do you want to have an investment  Smiley

You can make money from any asset you have. Notably, people make money from hiring their time, which IMO is the worst way of making money.
129  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How much do you tend to invest in an ICO on: February 07, 2018, 12:32:51 PM
I would really love to see the difference between the answer before and after the big dip that has taken place in February. I bet that the answers would be less than 30% than before  Grin
130  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should I invest in this ICO? Please help on: February 07, 2018, 12:31:59 PM
Hey guys, I am a brand new crypto-girl, and I'm thinking about investing in ICO's. The thing is, I shop online a lot and I really need a tool which will allow me to pay with a crypto currency. I came across Bitcoinus ICO, they're creating a cryptopayment processor for online shopping. Exactly what I need. Planning to use it. Any ideas?

Does not really look like the type of ICO I would be in unless they had an excellent team, which they donīt. So my advice for you is stay out, not worth the risk.
131  Economy / Economics / Re: do you really like crypto coin? on: February 07, 2018, 12:31:10 PM
of course I really like crypto curency because for me crypto is a rice field, I can plant / invest in it like follow some ico and bounty, I can get profit from it and use it for altcoin trading, hopefully this can bring me to be rich

This is a forum for people who are into crypto, but I donīt take an emotional stance on it. I like cryptos as long as they give value to me and to society.
132  Economy / Economics / Re: Becoming wealthy and social responsibility on: February 06, 2018, 09:30:35 PM
Its not hard to help if you have the money. For me i will help those in need. Helping other is a good one more blessings to come . Much better if the poor peple who want to go to school but they don't have money send them help them. Share your blessings.

Charity is sometimes a way of washing away our remorse and our conscience. I have not yet developed enough of these, so it is good I am not rich either.
133  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Invest in 12 coins on: February 06, 2018, 12:36:12 AM
I donīt think you (or anyone) can dedicate the time that requires to properly manage a portfolio of 12 coins. I would not go for more than 7 no matter what period you consider.
134  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Basic precautions when doing KYC for ICOs on: February 04, 2018, 12:03:47 AM
I really hate KYC. I have to effectively give my id docs and pics to strangers and I might find it in the dark web anyday. The only answer I have found to this is introducing a watermark, barely visible or sometimes clearly visible, indicating the ICO and date. If it leaks, at least it could be determined from where.

The problem of preserving oneīs documents is a very wide one. There are a few projects that you may want to take a look into:

a) Selfkey https://selfkey.org/ - "SelfKey is a Blockchain based digital identity system that allows individuals and companies to truly own, control and manage their digital identity, and instantly access Citizenship and Residency by Investment, Company Incorporation, Fintech Products, Token Sales, Exchanges and much more."

b) CIVIC, this is a well known one, which includes a "REUSABLE KYC Satisfy KYC requirements with Civic’s easy-to-use, private, and secure  solution." https://www.civic.com/

I personally wish more ICOs would accept these, and I sure many will in the future.
135  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Signatures on: February 02, 2018, 06:15:27 PM
Im trying to get to where i can earn btc or xvg for signatures how long does it take to get a good rank

Most likely getting a decent chance will take you 2 to 3 months with the new rules.

You can search several threads for that information and I suggest that you do for your own development as a user, but this are the essentials:
RankRequired activityRequired merit
Brand new00
Newbie10
Jr Member300
Member6010
Full Member120100
Sr. Member240250
Hero Member480500
LegendaryRandom in the range 775-10301000

So, as you can see, you need two things to  achieve a rank: a) Activity b) Merit.

Activity is earned by posting, but also there are some time limits, I believe it is capped every 2 weeks or so, so it is of no use to post 100 times a day.

The second one is much trickier. Users have to merit your posts based on the quality. So not only you have to make posts, but also they have to be good.

Search more information on the meta thread of the forum.

136  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: REBELLIOUS Discussion Thread on: February 02, 2018, 06:03:02 PM
I am sure about a lot many people in here are aware about REBELLIOUS.
They came up with the concept of "NO ICO" and distributed the tokens as "Airdrop" to tens of thousands of people.
The community is super active and the admins are always available on their telegram.
The TEAM is super active with continuous updates and news coming ever week.

In the last quarter, REBELLIOUS TEAM has successfully achieved:
– Launch website
– Deploy Smart Contract
– Win wallet v1.0
– Airdrop 21/11-31/12
– Website Translations
– Mac wallet v1.0
– Linux wallet v1.0
– Got listed on Bit-z
– Got listed on Coinmarketcap
– Got listed on Delta/Coinstats/Blockfolio/Coinfolio/etc.
– Released our Rebellious Dashboard

In the coming weeks, they are going to
- Burn over 95M of total supply
- Wallet v2.0 release (Windows/Mac/Linux)
- Whitepaper 2.0 release
- Roadmap 2.0 release.

Apart from this, the REBELLIOUS TEAM has already setup their web store and is keeping the Ledger Nano S in stock for people who support REBELLIOUS.

The more I read about REBELLIOUS, the more I fall in love with the project, team and the community.

What are your thoughts about REBELLIOUS? Are you a REBL too?

They have also achieved a record breaking fall in value during this week. I donīt see anything wrong with the project, but nothing special either.
137  Other / Meta / A merit candidates thread on: February 02, 2018, 06:00:11 PM
Would it be wrong to open a thread were people could link messages that they think deserve merit and did not get any, including their own post or anyoneīs??
138  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How much do you tend to invest in an ICO on: February 01, 2018, 01:32:02 PM
The problem I normally find is that good ICOs that are clearly oversubscribed and have potential attract a large number of investors so I cannot really invest as much as I want because they set caps.
139  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can actually Bitcoin be good for the environment? on: February 01, 2018, 01:29:28 PM
To make Bitcoin mining environment friendly we have to focus on renewable energy. We have to generate power from solar ,air and hydro. That's all.

Renewable energies are now a tendency and many of the projects that want to make bitcoin farms to industrial scale are located near the least expensive energy source at the moment - Hydro power - So actually they do already use renewable at large scale.

Obviously, even if so, the energy could probably be used in other applications, so is not 100% friendly.
140  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can actually Bitcoin be good for the environment? on: January 31, 2018, 08:22:38 PM
It's almost impossible that the existing banking system uses more electricity (per transaction) than Bitcoin does.

Miners receive the block reward of 12.5 BTC (currently about $125,000) every ten minutes, and in addition to that it has transaction fees.  Apart from the relatively small profit margin which they attempt to make, miners will use electricity (almost) proportionally to the value of the BTC they receive for mining a block.

I'm not saying that the existing banking system is efficient, but even articles like this one that give an attempt to crunch numbers from a pro-Bitcoin perspective end up finding that Bitcoin is extremely inefficient if you think of it per transaction rather than as a whole.

Proof of work is not necessarily a "waste" of electricity - it's important for security - but let's not pretend that the electricity isn't getting used.

Actually, your article just further proves my point, it states that BTC is x60 more efficient, even if it is probably not an objective source. You should take into account the huge waste of the whole system: office buildings, people using fuel to go to them, the immense waste of construction. Even if you were using renewable energy sources, you are using lot of energy that is not directly used to ensure the safety of the net.

A completely different thing is considering the process efficient in itself. I donīt picture BTC going PoS in any future, short or long term, since as today, forks are based on hashing power and the mines are not going to take the first step to self destruction.

Letīs not pretend that I have said that electricity is not being used and letīs put some numbers to the waste of the traditional sector before accusing bitcoin (and Alts for that matter).
