What is it about qtrade that you don't like?
Just a feeling maybe because in the past I have been scammed several times by new exchanges in the market, some of them even launched an ICO but so far they are doing good in catering for the IDENA community but a big exchange like Kucoin and Binance will kick the price, it can easily get into Kucoin by voting but it will take sometimes for this to happen as we are still in testnet.

I really like it. It is like a small familly business. Started by two brothers programmers who originaly started in crypto as operators of mining pool (if i remember they are from Kansas). You can find their github accounts, they even contributed to the Idena code. Github account for programmer is his reputation in the open. They are not some mistery anonymous dudes, or like some big ogranisation that can hide. Very helpfull, responsive in problem solving. All that considered, it does not seem to me as some exit scam type guys. If you read about the security measures they implemented on the exchange, it really sounds great. https://qtrade.io/security

Other thing that I like is no "market buy/sell" option. You set order at price that you want, and it's impossible for someone/bot to mess around with orders so you end up with unwanted trade.
Very simple interface, basic info KYC for up to 2k USD daily withdrawl. Real trades, no wash trade.

On the other hand there is chinese based qbtc, with 95% of all other trades according to coingecko. I mean... they are clearly washtrading, no chance that there is so much trade going on there. Once Endogen tested some transactions, he noticed that their volume chart went through the roof... They are displaying transaction count on the network as the volume on the exchange... yikes...

What can we expect to achieve if we get on Binance? For sure, more people will be aware of Idena, but I think that we will be caught in the Binance bots for pump and dump price action Sad
Even qTrade was not planned for now. As you said we are still in testnet (experimental mainnet). When we get to stable version, it will be natural progression for Idena to go to bigger exchanges.
122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Idena is the first Proof-of-Person Blockchain on: June 05, 2020, 02:13:08 PM
Honestly I don't like both exchanges but between the two I prefer trading on Qtrade than QBTC,I have traded several times on QTRADE but never on QBTC I've been reading a lot of bad things about QBTC in the IDENA price telegram, I hope after we move on the mainnet we can get in a  much better exchange.

What is it about qtrade that you don't like?

Oh, this is why price on coingeko is 0.07... stupid qbtc...

124  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Idena is the first Proof-of-Person Blockchain on: June 04, 2020, 05:56:23 PM
Here is some explanation about that bug that happened and how I understood what was the problem...

Q: Why was I killed, I had great PC / VPS, 16GB of ram and 6 core CPU?

A: The whole network stopped, no one killed anyone, the whole network "killed itself" in a way. I understand that, that kind of powerful node is one of those who participated in committee that made those big blocks, but your results were not in the first but in the second block that was made late.

If you participate in the committee for making blocks, approximately, I'm not sure how big that committee is, that is, how many nodes it consists of. All participating nodes in committee must process all transactions within 20sec of the block's duration. What happened was, too many transactions from too many participants.

3420 nodes performed validation. In the previous successful validation, 2300 nodes passed, which means that the network worked with 47.8% more nodes than last time, which means that the load is so much higher, that is. number of transactions. The block reached a maximum size, 1MB, other transactions were waiting in the mempool to be put in next block. Then the network tried to process that block in order for those transactions to become valid (ie. our answers on validation).
Then, a committee of random nodes is made.
And every node in that committee must process that, so far the largest block we have ever had.
The nodes in the committee were changing all the time trying to process that huge block. But were not able and network made empty blocks.
Until the network came up with stronger nodes (like VPS's and home PC's that had multicores and higher RAM), and they managed to process that block, f**in near the end of validation. Those transactions(validation answers) processed in that block have passed validation, because those transactions are on the processed block and are written to the blockchain.
The next committee is again a failure and an empty block.
After that, when it was already late, the second block was processed (also almost full 1MB block), which contained the other half of our answers/transactions.

Now... The developers will make sure that validation cannot be completed while there are still unprocessed validation transactions in mempool. The worst that can now happen is to wait for the validation result for few blocks longer. Additionally, since it will reduce the maximum block size to 300KB from 1MB, that means it will be 3x easier for all nodes to process blocks.

Q: So what now? Will they kick us out who have 1cpu/1gb or?

A: No, these nodes will work now as well, because they will be 3x less demanding blocks.

Q: And what will happen for the next validation when we have 3000 nodes again?

A: Since there will be less demanding blocks, all nodes should be able to process them and that's only... 10 blocks.
If we calculate that in the last validation we needed 2 blocks of 1MB for all answers. This means we need 2MB of data for all responses to be written. Let's think that in the next validation we will have not 2MB as we had now, let's consider 3MB. Since the block will be 300KB, this means that we will need to process 10 blocks in order for all transactions (all validation responses) to be successfully written on blockchain.
Since the block lasts 20 seconds and we need 10 blocks, that is, we need 3.5 minutes.
And we know that a long session lasts 30 minutes, which means we have 8x more time than we need.
With this principle, we can roughly calculate the following theoretical maximum of the network before validation sharding must be implemented.

Q: And now the question, why didn't they remember that before? But when did it break?

A: It broke because we reached the maximum with testing. If no one had tested, no one would have ever found out about this what we found out. They themselves said they did not expect this.
I guess the problem was also VPSs that have 1Core/1GB. When the 1GB of memory is full, then it switches to SWAP which is actually a slow hard drive. Then for that, the processor needs much more time to allocate memory to RAM and SWAP. And that leads to the impossibility to do everything properly, that is, does not have enough CPU power to process that large block of 1MB transactions.

I also figured out what our maximum transactions were. There yeah were 3966 transactions in that first big block, let's say 4000.
4000tx / 20sec block time, so 200 transactions per second, what is the speed tx/s in ETH?
On ETH the max is 15tx/s.
And do you know what ETH is working on? What are those nodes? They are certainly not a $5 VPS. They run on powerful Amazon instances.
And ETH has 7800 nodes.
Not even Idena can work on Tetris hardware.
After reducing the block size 3x, we will again be at 4x faster transaction speed than ETH.
At about 66 tx/s, even with tetris computers.

My recommendation is to temporarily upgrade each VPS for validation to 2GB.
Digital Ocean is great for that, they support temporary component changes. One can even make a script that Digital Ocean itself does upscale 2GB for validation and downscale 1GB afterwards, automatically via API. I remember that Anthrophobia and Crackowich told me that they were doing it. Validation means testing the theoretical maximum of the network each time.
Node operation during mining, while there are barely a couple of transactions in each block, is nothing compared with node operation during validation.

And this is what we deal in the network, this member is complaining that syncing is slow, and has 5/0.2 internet speed...

Just look at IDENA's price right now it's crashing $0.075467 -13.0% 0.00000738 BTC -18.7%, things is not the same anymore after that last verification where so many people are affected, I don't know if this is manipulated, but I guess it's because we are in a testnet, I'm worried something like this could happen again.

I'm looking and the last price was 940sats... Where did you see that price?

They are not considering a rollback: https://medium.com/idena/may-30-2020-idena-validation-incident-report-e1c8ebd56ded

Looks like they are just happy this incident happened:

What a shame..
For start, I and my 10 friends and family members around me that are in Idena were all suspended Cheesy But they did not see this as a catastrophie, because I have told them from the start that this is experimental and problems are to be expected. For testing of this experimental program, you will get rewards, so much reward in one day that people who will come one year from now will not be able to get in one month.
So I bet that those who passed, mining is good for them Smiley Not for me.

So if you take that joke out of context, it might look like that. On discord we have #offtopic channel where we try to have fun in even the most difficult times. And that channel contains some hardcore dark/sarcastic/ironic humor, so if you are not into that, that's ok, but don't go there as it will confuse you.

Also here are some jokes that you have maybe missed (and probably won't be funny to you):
- idena, highlander edition (If you are younger, watch Highlander series of movies)
- hardfork is 30sec into short session
- if we get to zombie, we go to eat devs brain
- I would pay to have my face expresion in picture after validation, when i saw there is no mining toggle button Cheesy At first I was thinking my window is too small and try to resize it
- imagine we did not get suspended but killed by the bug?
- its bummer that i made that pre validation checkup guide and 2k nodes failed, maybe everyone synced time and network kaboom (this refers to my post that i made 2 day before validation, its on the end of this post)

It is clearly stated that this is experimental, that we are still testing, and for that testing we get reward. But as it is experimental, bugs can happen.
So you have to think about, what should now be best for project?
A: try to work on a rollback that will take much time and effort, and maybe produce bigger bugs and set us back more
B: work on a fix/solution so we can move forward and it won't happen again
So instead of moving backwards, we are moving forward and not loosing more time and potential rewards.

I'm here from december and this was my 20th validation, and first problem caused by network. That is not bad at all, in my opinion, for experimental program/tech as Idena is.
This is just my opinion, but I understand others view on this.

As members on discord are trying to be funny (humor is good thing), and not view this as some sort of cathastrophie, we have temporarly changed our nicknames to reflect this situation.

In other news, I have written a post about what to check and consider. But in light of recent things I will have to change VPS guide, suggest VPS providers who support temporary upscaling. I think that temp upscaling from 1GB to 2GB ram would solve our problems.

This is $5 digital ocean vps. Take a look on its cpu load and memory. First image is state of vps when node has been working for 5 days or so. It takes up all ram, goes to swap, cpu goes crazy, and for 1cpu, load of 2.1 is heavy. After restart of node, it clears up ram for some time and load goes down to 1.14 or so...

This and vps guide have to change, I will try and see the best way for this...
Take 5 minutes and read Pre-validation setup check
http://idena.site/faq_tutorials.php#answer12
It will give you advices on what to check, so you can avoid potential problems during validation.
Hopefully it will lead to less validation issues and more validated identities.
Good luck on your validation.

Edit: Biggest bummer is for Newbie members who did not reach verified to be only suspended, they lost (not talking about potential reward but realy lost what they had) about 400 dna or so... and for me that is biggest problem and most difficault thing in this situation.

What about the people from China, Korea, India, Russia or other parts of the world that can't read english,
and vice versa?

Nothing, you did not understand me. If there is text that is crucial to understand story, that should be reported. But if there is text on picture that is there but not directly explaining the story, I am not reporting that.

I would say, no text that explains the story or keywords, but if someone struggles to find picture with good story, but has some text in it, I don't report it...  Huh

Any news on development of the mobile node?
Also, how does the messenger app will work in terms of sending/receiving data? For instance, you can send a large file on telegram to another person without a problem but how will idena address this and is it even possible to compete with the top centralized messaging apps?

Mobile node is currently out of the planned development. But mobile client is planned after marketing stuff is developed.
Read more here:
https://medium.com/idena/idena-community-report-current-state-and-next-steps-dce97a0e3034

As Idena uses IPFS for its storage, i guess that large files can be supported for future messaging app. But we won't know untill we get there.

If you want to stay in the loop with Idena and avoid all drama, all you need is to follow these two information sources:
- Official Telegram Announcments: https://t.me/IdenaAnnouncements
- Offical Medium blog: https://medium.com/@idena.network

And all their work is transparent in real time on github, you can see it every day when they work on something new. Other thing is if we (I for sure) can't make effort to learn to read all that code and what it means...

That way, you will for sure stay up to date with any relevant info about Idena.

I wonder how many alt accounts this forum trolls have.

Real mature person... Making fun of someone else's name  Huh

Tytanowy Janusz - valued member
Tyttifructawy Anus - fake account

I understand now why sybil troll accounts are against Idena, well it will be the end of them.

Well I think we can all agree (looking at this topic but also at the discord), something went wrong, this coin totally not user friendly.

Lets start with the stability of your network, its almost a fact that u MUST rent a virtual server somewhere (something nobody in cryptoworld like, because of something like security) as almost no homenetwork can handle this kind of traffic (i am using a gbit fiber connection, high end HOME-network hardware, it can handle 10 minutes uptime, then my complete network crash).

Hello Joen, I agree that is not user friendly, or I would say it has learning curve. Its like nothing out there before, so more learning.
Still we have to remind ourselves that idena network is still a experimental thing. And I very much expect when we reach version 1.x that it will be user frendlier. Node version as of time of writing is  0.19.1.
Long way to go.

Gigabit fibre connection and you have problems? That is really something. I know for a fact guy that runs 2 nodes in home ADSL 10/1. I run 2 nodes on 15/15 link, not a hickup. Also this home quarantine thing made us use all the link bandwith, all family members working from home and kids watching youtube.
Not a burn, you should check your router or ISP.
134  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Selling invites is still a thing? on: April 05, 2020, 12:59:54 AM
Selling invites is still a thing?

Well let me just point out to what anyone can do while selling invite:

1. Seller sells you an invite, you activate, all is good, you transfer crypto
2. Seller terminates your candidate status, you lose your invite and your crypto
3. Seller opens new fake account and rinse and repeat...

If anyone wants to risk, this is what you can expect...

My next planned step is to implement mining log for nodes that are monitored over my portal. That way, we will have bigger sample to compare. The answer is probbably somewhere in the code on github Cheesy
136  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Idena is the first Proof-of-Person Blockchain on: March 18, 2020, 07:30:15 AM
Shout-out to reb0rn who gave me info about the project. When I first got into Idena, it was late December... I was fascinated by the idea and how stuff works. Since it was early start, I was few months late but there were not that many users in. Still there are not. I tried to learn/read everything there was about Idena. This thread, Telegram channel from beginning, Discord from beginning.

Since then I've been trying to troubleshoot problems and help users here and there. As I ran into problems, I tried to find a way to solve them as best as I could. As my job is primarily helpdesk/tech support, I find myself with this project as at home...

First thing, how to run stable mining... Built-in node (on Windows) was failing at a random times, it felt like I needed to babysit it.
So I made a script that checks its online presence by checking Idena explorer and sends you an email if node is offline. I thought to myself, well this is usefull, as I read other people were having same issues as well. So I redid script so it can check multiple addresses at a time.
Then when the list of users/addresses and demand grew I figured, I can't add them manualy any more... I must build interface so people can register and setup stuff themselves.
Also after every validation, I had to manually go through addresses list to check if those addresses are still able to mine, Is there a need to check them. That was also troublesome. But eventualy I got time to build it and automate it. So now it runs independently.

From that need, it grew into something that I now call a Portal...

So feel free to check out unnoffical Idena Portal, one stop place for additional FAQ's, tutorials and other usefull information.
https://idena.site

Feel free to register an account which enables you to setup:
- Mining monitoring (notifies you by email if your node goes offline)
- Financial card (gives you an estimate of your current DNA holdings)
(more is planned, just need to find time to make it)

Latest addition is video tutorial that shows you how to run your node automatically in background on Windows, using Task Scheduler, it's step by step tutorial and I hope it will help out
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXzweeyCaQ0

This setup has many advantages:
- Node runs/mines in background
- Idena client/app does not have to be turned on, all the time
- Mining is more stable than running Built-in node and has autorestart feature
- If your PC restarts or updates, node starts automatically by itself
- You don't have to be logged in in order for node to run

Only disadvantage of running node as a background task is a bit complicated node update procedure:
- Stop node task
- Switch to built in node from App settings
- Update node by clicking update button in App
- Switch to remote node in App settings
- Run task again

As a "human" verified account, did missing this validation suspend your account?

Just curious in case I miss one.

If you miss one session as Verified or Human, you get Suspended
Miss two in a row, your Identity become Zombie
Miss three in a row, your Identity gets killed...
