121  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Canadian official wants Google to ban ads for crypto? on: February 08, 2018, 04:29:46 PM
"Jason Roy, who is also the chairman of Canada's Binary Options Task Force, suggested that Google should take a similar course to Facebook, and restrict ad content for binary options, ICOs and cryptocurrencies."

Why Canadian official wants Google to ban ads for crypto?

See for a business to say no to advertisers needs a lot of courage. Google does not want to get associated with scams and frauds that are being launched these days claiming to be the best ICO launched.
122  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This crypto-millionaire bought a Lamborghini for $115 thanks to bitcoin on: February 08, 2018, 04:25:03 PM

If I was his place, I would have remained  invested and purchased the whole company after 10 years. That will be possible when Bitcoin reaches 10 million mark or more in future.
123  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: binance exchange scam warrning on: February 08, 2018, 04:21:29 PM
first binance has no location nor any info so they ain't regulated by anybody but them...  second they use bots their own bots which keeps buying selling faster than any body that's why it lags so much when traffic are buying or selling ...third their colors pink and green to make u more nervous to make you rush into wrong decisions....and fourth they let pump groups to use their exchange freely once you buy your trapped ......i would recommend anybody who doesn't wana lose his wealth in a day to stay away from this exchange its a casino not an exchange ...fake u cant even tell if the volume is true or not ....

Most of the exchanges are involved with all these activities. I am not going to mind this as long as they keep my investments safe from hacking attempts.
124  Other / Meta / Re: Is new bitcointalk update with merit is fair? on: February 08, 2018, 04:20:20 PM
First of all this is not the proper section to post this. You should move this to meta section. Coming to your system the new update was required for the forum and it will remain like this even if it appears harsh to new members.
125  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is recovering on: February 08, 2018, 04:17:50 PM
It seems panic sell is over and bitcoin is recovering.
I just want to say thanks for allowing me and others to buy bitcoin at cheaper price.
Again   Cheesy

Let this remind you to not blindly follow fake news and fud. Be strong and cool in head.

It is nice to see Bitcoins recovering. I had invested some money at $9000 levels and I think it was a mistake to invest that much. I will be cautious with future investments and not invest more than $500 per month in crypto.
126  Other / Meta / Re: 2 weeks after on: February 08, 2018, 04:15:41 PM
I'm waiting for "28 days after" topics Cheesy

Not sure about 28 days but in 2 months, you will see major changes to this new system for sure. This prediction is based on the recent comments made by the admin on this forum.
127  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: February 08, 2018, 04:13:47 PM
So there's a limited and decreasing amount of merits? Am I getting it right?
Why on Earth would anybody share some limited asset?

So if I want merits, I should "hunt" the users with sMerits and try to make them like me and my posts?

How are you going to make them like your posts ? If you are active here with good quality posts, you need not force anyone for merits. The major portion of merit points will come from merit sources and this is the reason that their identity is not revealed.
128  Other / Meta / Re: I done good posts but not receive any merit on: February 08, 2018, 04:11:58 PM
Is it because for ranking up? For sign. campaigns? I mean the forum itself is almost losing its primary purpose which is for discussing everything regarding bitcoin, not your money maker.html.

The admin has mentioned in a comment that next step might be stopping all the signature campaigns here. If that ever gets implemented, I think all these complains regarding merit points will fade away.
129  Other / Meta / Re: Should the lowest merit spenders among us be known? on: February 08, 2018, 04:10:05 PM
Yeah, I don't think people should be 'shamed' in some way just for not dishing out merit. It's their choice whether they want to or not so there shouldn't be a table of these people, especially when it will just be populated by inactive users. Their merit will decrease anyway, but there's more important things to be thinking of right now like adding more merit sources and giving more merit to those who have shown they can dish it out well.

I agree to this completely.  And if I remember correctly, the admin mentioned that for merit sources, there smerits will decay after a month. So they need not be miser with merits and that is sufficient.
130  Other / Meta / Re: ◆How much can you pay to 1 MERIT?◆ on: February 02, 2018, 08:17:08 AM
How much can you pay to 1 MERIT?

I agree with the MERIT system.

But I do not want to spend time for posting quality.
Because I am busy .
How much can you pay for 1 MERIT who are busy and want to  rank up?

Why do you want to rank up ? If you are really busy (with work), you do not need incentives associated with higher ranks.
131  Other / Meta / Re: "Leet" post count on: February 02, 2018, 08:15:53 AM
Wondering why my post count says "leet"

How do signature campaigns count posts if this persists?

Or is this temporary?

__

Edit.. looks like it's gone.

My first reaction was this is photo shopped and then I saw your edit. You should close this thread as problem is solved.
132  Other / Meta / Re: [LIST] USERS THAT ARE ABUSING MERIT SYSTEM on: February 02, 2018, 08:14:11 AM
Is this a 20 merit point post??

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2816469.msg29006874#msg29006874

A newby user merited 20 points for this. Very suspicious IMO.

I think this happened by mistake. If you the merit history of the sender: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;u=5797 , it was send two times (10 each time). I mean there is strong possibility that second time he refreshed and gave those 10 merits again.
133  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2018 end of the year BİTCOİN price on: February 02, 2018, 08:09:18 AM
Most of the people will find it hard to digest these figures. Seeing the past trends, I see it much above around $100000 levels.
134  Economy / Economics / Re: Don't worry, the market will not fall forever. on: February 02, 2018, 08:08:02 AM
The fall and collapse of the crypto-currency exchange rates do not scare investors in comparison with December 2017, but rather vice versa - new crypto funds are launched in the US and Europe. Offering the Swedish exchange Nasdaq Nordic exchange-traded note for bitcoin and ETH, Coinshares Group is launching two new funds: "Active" and "Large Cap" . The first offers a fairly aggressive strategy for investing in promising cryptocurrencies, the latter uses a more passive strategy and a wider basket of digital assets.
If you are in a position - hold.
If you have the finest money - buy in parts.
Everything goes to the fact that in May we are expected again the rally

I am very much positive with Bitcoins. I think it is risky to invest in alt coins currently and we may see some fully disappear in next few months.
135  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: February 02, 2018, 08:06:01 AM
I did not understood merit fulfill yet. I was reading past few comments in this thread, but didn't find any concrete information. So, by your words if you do not give or get Merit your rank's raise is kinda going to be frozen, is it really so? Prove or unprove this to me somebody, please Smiley

If you continue with this attitude you will be a live proof with frozen rank yourself. Regarding your question, you need to get merits to rank up. Giving merits has nothing to do with ranks.
136  Other / Meta / Re: both sides about merit on: January 31, 2018, 06:49:19 PM
Both pro and anti merit has a point in other aspects for their opinion about it.

Does merit is really the answer to stop the farming and spam messages?
If not, then what is the best solution that can offer by the anti merit to stop the spam and farming accounts?
Every against for the new order should have a better solution that can suggest which is better than this not just simply saying against it.

There could have been various other possible solutions:

1) Increasing the activity for different ranks.

2) Appointing more moderators and banning members with huge number of shit posts.

I am sure that the admin has chosen merit system after considering all other options. We should give it some time and see its effects. It is too soon to judge its effectiveness.
137  Other / Meta / Re: Members Need to be Better Informed About Merit on: January 31, 2018, 06:43:15 PM
If users really don't know about the merit system, and what sMerits are, they shouldn't even be here in this forum. You can't expect theymos or anyone else for that matter to personally PM them about the newly integrated merit system. If people even go to their profile and click the merit hyperlink, they can know about sMerits. And there are so many threads in and out of meta(some jackasses are creating threads trying to "criticize" about the merit system in Alternate Cryptocurrencies board). So if users really want to be adamant ,let them be,they will realize they won't be able to rank up anymore.

Admin has made a thread about the merit system but it would have been better if he made it sticky as well. So many new threads opening about merit system may be because of this. Also, the official thread gets buried as we see more new threads in meta.

The forum is swamped with Merit and sMerit threads. Anyone who doesn't understand the system by now should go back to school, or maybe they should read some of the existing threads.

Merits aren't awarded just for posts that aren't spam. They are given to posters who make a useful contribution to the Bitcoin Talk community ( or they should be in my opinion ).

There may be some people who might be not that active in meta section. However, it is hard not to notice merits in own profile.
138  Other / Meta / Re: My Application For Merit Source - Stingers (Legendary) on: January 31, 2018, 06:37:25 PM
Can I ask for 10 merits..?

You are just making things more difficult for yourself with this behavior. Matter of time a senior member sees this and gives you a negative trust for begging for merit points. A better approach will be to improve the quality of posts, learn from members who are getting good number of merits and then you will automatically get merit points. That feeling is just awesome when you get a merit point for valuable contribution.
139  Other / Meta / Re: Is merit system showing positive effects ? on: January 31, 2018, 06:33:55 PM
Dont you think that the merit system is too superficial?
Why not improve it and do really useful and understandable.
What do you think about my idea? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2851171.0
It seems to me that this will help to make such a system of merit, which everyone will like.

I do not think that it is a good idea to hijack this thread and add your thread link here. You should have simple mentioned your idea in brief.

I think merits have really positive effects to all users, especially to those have joined signature campaigns. Because they are pushed through to participate with  quality post that may really help others to get info from them.

I think signature campaigns already have a lot of applicants to choose from. They used to reject profiles with spammy behavior in the past as well. Now with this additional requirement, we can expect more refined selection.
140  Other / Meta / Re: Good news form Facebook for bounty hunters! on: January 31, 2018, 06:28:24 PM
Hi all! I guess everyone heard the main news about new Facebook rule today.

It seems to me that it is a good news for bounty managers - Product Management Director Rob Leathern wrote in a blog post today:

"Facebook has a new advertising policy pertaining to cryptocurrency, binary options and initial coin offerings. The policy specifically prohibits ads that promote those types of products and services “that are frequently associated with misleading or deceptive practices”.

In fact it means that ICO developers will have bigger part for advertisement campaigns at other platforms and therefore the budget for bounty advertising program will be larger.

Blessing in disguise  Wink

Actually, this step was taken by Facebook to keep its users safe from scammers are fraud offerings. Even though these people can pay good in signature campaigns here, I do not thin we need such people here. These people hamper the image of Bitcoins and other alt coins.
