121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SWARM] Swarm - Cryptoequity Crowdfunding - Official Thread on: April 29, 2015, 04:05:21 PM
fractastical, should an investor buy SWARM if he is looking to generate income and/or capital gains for himself and his family?

I feel like answering this question would involve giving investment advice, which I'm not particular well suited for. I'm more of a product developer who is trying to build the best product I know how to. If you want to get investment advice, check out places like http://cyber.fund/ or the market analysis that happens on our forum.

Here and available to answer outstanding questions.

Contrary to what's in the press, I don't see any "pivot" in what we've been doing. Our grueling legal research indicated that it was only possible to legally do crowdfunding in the US with the DCO model that we created, so it's essential that people fill out the correct parameters up front before they start crowdfunding. This importantly includes rights that the token holders have.

A lightbulb went off in my head late last year when I met with the CEO of Seedrs through some of my contacts with Techstars and he told him that, with two lawyers working on it full time, it took them 18 months of full-time work to get legal approval for their equity crowdfunding site. This was the first equity crowdfunding site legally launched and remains the no. 2 in the world.

So I thought the slow and steady route was the most appropriate for long term success. Unfortunately there's not a lot of exciting things to promote along the way. Well, until now that we have our basic income program / coin distribution program ready to go.

Hi,

thanks for the reply , will be able to pay (the digital comic) also with bitcoin ?

We will anounce next week that our publisher will be the first comic book publisher in the world (as far as we know) to accept bitcoins for the whole collection for the webshop, but Comixology.com has its own policy. It would be great to organize a campaign with them to motivate them to accept bitcoins, but I think they would need to get hundreds of twitter messages and emails to get interested.

Would be awesome if we can convince them to accept bitcoins Smiley

#BitAddict

Is there a digital version of the comic (.pdf) ?

Yes Smiley We will publish the English digital edition and hopefully the Spanish digital edition on Comixology.com, the largest online platform for Comics and graphic novels. The English edition has been approved already and we are waiting for the release together with the physical edition.

There are very few physical copies left in English (most of them are going to people that supported the crowd sale) and we printed 1500 in Spanish which will be distributed in book shops around Spain.

For buying "Bitcoin: The hunt for Satoshi Nakamoto" in English follow this link BitcoinComic.org and click on buy comic which will take you to the Spanish web shop of the publisher. The Spanish edition is available here: BitcoinComic.org/es/

Thanks, Alex

Hey Swarm,

I ordered the comic yesterday but couldn't complete the process (I did send an email yesterday to Swarm).

Yesterday, I sent .05 BTC from my Blockchaininfo wallet successfully. I also inputted my controlled BTC address from my counterwallet.
I am stuck on the "Payment received! One more thing..." page

I can't seem to get past the page, I press Save and Finish in different
orders but nothing. No confirmation email, no screen change. I get a
red ring around the email so tried a non google email, same thing.

Any ideas?
Thanks,
IAS

If you sent an email to info@swarm.co you should get a response within 24 hrs. I do know we had some problem with some of the new authentication features but was under the impression it had been fixed. Am checking now.

You forgot to mention the additional 140%(?) swarm that was distributed last month..
http://swarm.lefora.com/topic/4/Swarm-Vote-Two-ISSUE-BURN-HOLD?page=1#.VDwUGqiSzpo

Thats 24m coins for 1700btc which makes it about 14K per BTC

~0.00007BTC per swarm..

Was ~1.46 SWARM. I was a bit afraid of the distribution since I thought it might shock the market. Seems like that was correct. Anyways, before that it was holding at about the initial price with some +/- 10% wiggle room. Now it's been pretty unpredictable.

127  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SWARM] Swarm - Cryptoequity Crowdfunding - Official Thread on: October 10, 2014, 05:55:04 PM

Yep,, indeed, I was a bit hard. It's just that they don't seem to know where they are going...

It's always been our intention to deliver a working crypto-kickstarter first (see the original post on this thread) and gradually phase in more advanced features as the legal and regulatory space for them is established. Unfortunately, our fundraising did not allow us to establish a legal war chest (nor did we take a loan for legal service, like Ethereum prior to their presale), so progress on this is slower than desired.

I'm personally fairly content with the pace of our our platform build out and with the volume of submitted project and reviews. For instance, for our 5th of November launch date we had 36 submitted projects and 129 reviews.

As for the flash crash, it's a shame that trading volume is so low that an 8 BTC sell can crash the whole market. I'm not sure what we can do except press forward with our delivery plans which demonstrate the value of the Swarm coins in a more tangible way. I think once we have liquidity from higher volume exchanges (bter) this will also cause a major bounce back.

I'm confused by the outcome of the vote. I didn't vote I figured it didn't matter much-- market would set price. Now I have three sets of swarm in my wallet. "Swarm", Swarppre, and Swarmvote2 . Which one(s) really reflect the true amount of swarm I own. Which is the legit, traceable currency? Any info appreciated. thx.

Swarm.  Swarmpre was the pre-purchase currency which entitled you to some amount of Swarm, and is now worthless AFAIK.  Swarmvote2 was your "ballot" for voting in the 2nd vote and is again worthless AFAIK.

Yep. SWARM is the token that will get you early access to all the new projects we are launching on the 5th of November at a preferential rate.

Gavin Andresen to sign 5 copies of Bitcoin Comic in memory of Hal Finney for #HalFinney art contest

Bitcoin Foundation Chief Scientist Gavin Andresen will sign 5 copies of the upcoming Bitcoin Comic “The Hunt for Satoshi” in memory of Hal Finney who passed away recently of ALS.

Hal was a pioneer in Cryptography and wrote the original “Re-usable Proofs of Work” (RPOWs) on which Satoshi based his Bitcoin protocol.

The signed copies will be offered as prizes in an art competition to illustrate the first Bitcoin transaction between Satoshi and Hal which we’ll run in late November.

Sept 16, 2014 —

Gavin Andresen will sign five copies of “The Hunt for Satoshi” in dedication to the memory of Hal Finney, the cryptographer who was the first employee at PGP Corporation, who created the Re-Usable Proofs of Work scheme on which Bitcoin is based and who received the first-ever Bitcoin transaction from Satoshi himself.

“The Hunt for Satoshi” is an adventure graphic novel with the objective to educate in a fun way about Bitcoin and money to make it accessible to everyone. Right now running a fundraiser on the SWARM.co/comicoin platform to raise 42BTC in order to go to print in November 2014.

“The Hunt for Satoshi” is the first full length graphic novel that explains Bitcoin and Hal Finney is hidden in the book’s storyline in a decrypted message from the 90s. He also appears in the appendix together with other global Bitcoin personalities.

After Finney passed away the team decided to dedicate the Bitcoin graphic novel to his memory, and asked Gavin Andresen to sign five copies that will be given to the winner of a special Twitter art contest that depicts that first, historic transaction.

Andresen says of the idea: “I’m really excited by the first graphic novel to explain Bitcoin to a popular audience. It’s a great memorial to Hal Finney and the others who helped Bitcoin grow and spread. I can’t wait to get a copy!”

The #HalFinneyBitcoinComic Twitter contest

Twitter based art contest for anyone who creates any type of art, illustrations, photographs, graffiti pieces, videos, html5 animations etc. that convey the first Bitcoin transaction between Satoshi and Hal Finney and is shareable via Twitter.

The pieces of art that gain the most legitimate RTs will win the signed copies by Gavin, (though the judges decision will be final, and we reserve the right to disqualify cheaters!!!)

The artists must use this twitter format: #HalFinney #HuntForSatoshi @bitcoincomic @swarmcorp swarm.co/hal (Your message!)

Do you plan to add SWARM to a centralized exchange ? Because Counterparty exchange lacks of liquidity and it would be nice to let the market discover the price of SWARM.

It's been on my agenda for a long time and really any exchange could integrate SWARM at any point, but so far we've had limited successes in communication with exchanges. Anyone who wants to provide contacts at any of the main ones, would be much appreciated.

Anyone here follow BitSharesX? It seems like a scam or at the very least a beta project that makes a lot of unsubstantiated claims. How does counterparty plan to continue differentiating itself from such obvious scams, and is there a contingency plan for when the SEC or other govt. entity does a crackdown that doesn't differentiate between legitimate projects like counterparty that are done with little hype and plenty of real development vs. altcoins like bitsharesX that smell really bad?

Some of the articles on here discuss the problems with bitshares http://prestonbyrne.com/back-of-the-envelope/

Serious replies appreciated!
I follow BitsharesX, it's not a scam, it's a visionary idea and very respectable people are implementing it. You should follow it too.

2.0 projects supporters shouldn't view other project as competitor and downplay them, there is room for every body in the world of tomorrow.

Could you explain the value proposition of BitsharesX?

It should be resolved within 24h. Don't worry guys. Fractastical (Joel) of SWARM is reliable and knows what he's doing. He reported the bug to Counterwallet devs when he noticed it, and they are cooperating on fixing it. He took the time to write it out comprehensively and screenshot everything that was wrong. Nobody is throwing anyone under the bus, and there is nothing 'mysterious' going on. With software that is constantly being developed, sometimes bugs appear. Just give it a day or so.

It was rapidly resolved. I don't think this is a big deal. These things come up in the course of many projects and people just need to be patient since software is complex and technical issues can take a bit of time to resolve sometimes.
