121  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [ASK] RECOMMENDED POOL FOR AntMiner S7 on: June 30, 2017, 09:00:58 PM
Hi all, ive got Antminer S3, is it possible to configure it to work with this pool? i have tryed and i cant get it working Sad

Pretty much all ASICs work on all pools. As long as you are using a bitcoin miner on a bitcoin pool, which you are.

For Bitminter the settings are:

pool: mint.bitminter.com:3333
worker: user_worker
password: 123

user_worker is your user name followed by an underscore and a worker name. Your user name is displayed in the upper right corner of the website when logged in. Your workers and their names are listed under "my account" -> "workers" in the website menu. As a new user you automatically get a worker named 1. So if your user name is John you could mine as John_1
122  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Bitminter client (Windows/Linux/Mac) on: June 29, 2017, 06:58:59 PM
I cant get this work.  It doesnt start. It only dowloads bitminter.jnlp and I cant use that file. Can you help?

jnlp files load with java from java.com

The certificate is expired so you will need to add https://bitminter.com to the exception list of the security tab of the java control panel, if you want to try this.

Note however that you don't earn anything by mining bitcoin with a PC anymore. You need ASICs.

Bitminter has now been operational for 6 years! That's like several generations in Bitcoin land. Tongue

If we end up with one Bip148 chain and one Bitmain chain, then I would prefer to mine on the Bip148 chain. Bitmain is planning their own hardfork if bip148 goes into effect, so this could happen.

But it depends on whether both survive. Which one will be called bitcoin? Which one will merchants accept?

My antminer status stated I found 3 blocks in the past 4 days??? Yet nothing shows in bitminter stats???

As far as I know we never had a block submitted that didn't show in stats, in all 6 years of operation. When block data is submitted it is very carefully taken care of by the pool.

I don't think those stats are accurate. On average it takes over 7 years to find a single block with 13 TH/s. You'd have to be very lucky to find 3 blocks in 4 days.

What exactly are the stats showing? Do you have the hashes of the blocks?

So Bitminter is FOR segwit. If you stay mining with Bitminter, you are supporting the FOR segwit soft fork. is this correct ?. Is there anything we need to do with the miners software.   Example im running bfgminer 5.4.2 on windows 10. Is there any command switches we need to set to enable the segwit ?.

Our blocks the last few months have voted for segwit.

You don't need to do anything. If you mine at Bitminter then your hashpower is voting to activate segwit.
127  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Bitminter bitcoin mining pool - Pays TxFees, Merged Mining, Fair PPLNS rewards on: June 02, 2017, 12:02:45 AM
Please help get segwit activated

Bitcoin is in a scaling crisis. Transaction fees are getting more and more costly. Companies are leaving bitcoin to build their services on alt coins instead. Many people, especially beginners, are struggling with unconfirmed transactions. New users get the impression that "bitcoin doesn't work". They are increasingly correct. The situation is hindering bitcoin adoption and doing long term damage to bitcoin.

If you want Bitcoin to succeed, here's what you can do:

1. Get more hashpower over on Bitminter and other pools that signal (vote to activate) segregated witness

2. Support BIP148 on your bitcoin node(s) - see http://www.uasf.co/

"I'm supporting Bitcoin Unlimited instead."
Understandable. There are several options for scaling. However, I think segwit has a much better chance of actually happening in the short term. We need scaling sooner rather than later. Please help get our head above water, then we can talk about how to get on land.

"I mine in a pool that doesn't support ANY scaling. I don't care."
So you own miners and bitcoins, but you go against your own economic interest by harming bitcoin. Please ask yourself what exactly you are trying to accomplish. Let me know what the answer is.

"What are these idiots doing?"
I tried to answer that here: https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/53814/incentives-for-segwit-vs-btu

"How do I see how segwit is doing?"
Have a look at http://segwit.co/
Yes, it looks bleak. Noone said it would be easy. But before we sell all our bitcoins and switch to alt coins, how about we put up one good fight?
128  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Bitminter bitcoin mining pool - Pays TxFees, Merged Mining, Fair PPLNS rewards on: May 26, 2017, 09:28:15 AM
What about a miner from canaan.io ? They have a higher price per GH/s than shop.bitmain.com but bitmain is always sold out. A more fair comparison is with the prices of bitmain resellers like eastshore.xyz - in this case canaan.io comes out cheaper (at the time I write this). Helping to balance out Bitmain's near-monopoly on mining hardware is a bonus. I haven't looked at the electricity usage of these two options though.

Another option is used miners. Maybe a used Antminer S7 from ebay can do the job?

Have a look at the price per GH/s of the two, and the electricity usage. In general slower machines are less profitable due to higher price per GH/s. Also older machines are less profitable due to higher electricity usage per GH/s. But if you get a good price on an S7, why not?

On a related note, since Bitmain is always sold out, which resellers can be trusted? Anyone have some experiences, good or bad?

Fee for "send coins" has been raised to 0.0009 BTC. That's under "my account" -> "send coins" in the website menu.
Bitcoin scaling is still at a stalemate and it keeps getting more expensive to move bitcoins.

Remember you can use auto cash out for free. You'll find it under "my account" -> "overview".
130  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Bitminter bitcoin mining pool - Pays TxFees, Merged Mining, Fair PPLNS rewards on: May 21, 2017, 11:43:30 AM
It looks like bitminter.io is down.

Most of them, like that one, are just domain name squatters. There is one scamming a lot of people though. It has a name similar to, but not exactly, Bitminter.

Just make sure that if you want to use Bitminter, you are on bitminter.com
131  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Bitminter bitcoin mining pool - Pays TxFees, Merged Mining, Fair PPLNS rewards on: May 21, 2017, 11:28:40 AM
There's always been many scams preying on Bitcoin users. In particular there is now one with a name similar to Bitminter, but with a .io rather than .com address. Many are getting scammed on that site and then coming over to bitminter.com to ask for help - but these two sites have nothing to do with each other.

In general be careful with "cloud mining"; those are usually scams.

It's useful to check up on a site's reputation before using it. One tool you can use is web-of-trust (mywot.com) and in particular their web browser plugin. It warns you when you visit scammy sites. In return you can help others by rating and commenting on websites. You can rate Bitminter at https://mywot.com/scorecard/bitminter.com

You can also google the name of the site plus the word "scam". If you have time, check closer on the site's history. Just by googling its name you can usually find people talking about it.

If you have any hints on how to see whether something is a scam, please leave a comment.

People see "zero fee" and they believe it.

Look at that. Mining on a Tahiti GPU. Beautiful. Those were the days Smiley
134  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Bitminter bitcoin mining pool - Pays TxFees, Merged Mining, Fair PPLNS rewards on: May 13, 2017, 12:26:52 PM
"Send coins" fee has been increased to 0.0006 (it was 0.0004) for Bitcoin.

As the bitcoin scaling stalemate continues it gets increasingly more expensive to send bitcoins.

Remember, if you have 0.01 BTC or more then you can use auto cash out instead of send coins. Auto cash out is free - the fees are paid by the pool.

Wow, that was a couple of quick blocks. Nice work farsider350 and Saglimbeni!

Bitmain Antminer has a vulnerable backdoor. Please read if you have Antminers:

137  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Bitminter client (Windows/Linux/Mac) on: April 12, 2017, 06:18:50 PM
i have downloaded this software but its blocked by JAVA...
please help me how to run this client software.......

It's signed with an old certificate. You can add https://bitminter.com to the exception list of the security tab of the java control panel.

But I'd really recommend buying modern mining hardware instead. Modern ASICs are stand-alone machines and don't need a PC to mine.
138  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Bitminter bitcoin mining pool - Pays TxFees, Merged Mining, Fair PPLNS rewards on: March 05, 2017, 05:56:29 PM
Today I was mining with around 500000-750000 Ghps, but my balance was kept at 0 and so did the Unconfirmed balance. I am wondering if this is normal or if it is just a bug...  Embarrassed

You get paid when someone in the pool finds a block. Sometimes we find
the next block quickly, other times it takes longer. Have a look at our
blocks at https://bitminter.com/blocks

Here is some general info on how the payouts work:

139  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Bitminter bitcoin mining pool - Pays TxFees, Merged Mining, Fair PPLNS rewards on: February 24, 2017, 07:01:05 PM
The fee for sending bitcoin with the "send coins" mechanism on the website has been raised to 0.0004 BTC (it was 0.0001 BTC). This reflects the higher cost of sending bitcoin today.

Remember you can instead send bitcoins using "my account" -> "auto cash out" in the website menu. This is free. The pool pays the fee for you.

The fee for "send coins" can hopefully be reduced again in the future when a bitcoin scaling solution goes in effect and transactions don't clog up the way they do today. Bitminter blocks are voting to activate segwit.

Oops. Announcing BTC blocks through the Yo app recently broke. Now working again.

If you wish to receive a "yo" when we find a block, subscribe to BITMINTED
