Hey Guys, just curious. I'm hashing with 80Gh/s and last week I generated .2 BTC in 7 days and now this week (ending tomorrow) I will have generated around .06.
Now, this doesn't exactly coincide with the difficulty changing, did things just even out or Huh

Thanks,
IAS

80 GH/s is about 0.018 BTC per day now, on average.

Rewards are a little below expected due to some bad luck a couple days back.

You can see the stats here: https://bitminter.com/stats/rewards

That's the last 500 shifts. About 1000 hours.
942  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Question regarding Workers and Worker Names and Worker Logins on: January 24, 2014, 09:51:22 AM
-u bens.btc_ant1

That's the problem. You can use _ or . to separate user and worker names. In this case it mines as user "bens" with worker "btc_ant11". Which doesn't exist. Go to "my account" -> "workers" in the website menu and create a new worker by filling out a name at the button of the table and clicking the plus symbol.

More than one worker is a perk here, then you can use many. I like em all piled together...

More than five workers is a perk. Most users have enough with five workers though.

Actual Antminer support coming soon I hope.

Any word on nanofury support?  I have 16 running in BFG but would prefer the simplicity of the client.  Specifically I'm running the Yellowjacket 2.2GH model.

I believe these appear as a USB HID device, rather than a COM (serial) port. So they are more work to add (only have OpenCL and COM ports so far). Would be nice, though, but no specific plans at the moment.

This is not recommended.

Awww, not even for the entertainment value?

Maybe, if you like hashing at reduced speed and having it quit on you while you are asleep.

But this sort of humor is not recommended.

Hi Dr.

I'm a newbie and started mining at your pool today. I did some research and found out that not all ASCI devices are fully support by your miner client. I though that you should make a list of supported ASCI devices to let newbie like me easier to choose which one to buy

Thanks in advance

Currently only Butterfly Labs and ASICMiner Block Erupter USB sticks. I added support for Red Fury, but it's not working well for most people, so I suggest using bfgminer instead. The problems are proving hard to fix so far.

I plan to add support for Antminer U1 soon.

There's a short feature list in the Bitminter client thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=31163

Antminer support is not ready yet.

The client will detect it (wrongly) as an Icarus, because it appears to behave like one. It will run at reduced hashrate while spewing errors. After a while it will hit too many errors in a row and the client will give up on it.

This is not recommended.

Actual Antminer support coming soon I hope.
947  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [440 TH] BitMinter.com [1% PPLNS,Pays TxFees + MergedMining,Stratum,GBT,vardiff] on: January 23, 2014, 05:20:42 PM
Hello just wondering if any one else has the same issue .
On my windows desktop the bitminter client says I'am mining at the normal 3690 mh/s but when I looked at my miners the lights on them were constant green ,so I go to bitminter website and find they stopped working 22/01/2014 at 22:28 ,I actually stopped on the block at 20:16

This has happened a couple of times were the desktop client shows its running fine but actually I'am not mining at all .
I leave mine running 24hrs and notice that the client functions become unresponsive ,for example the tabs for devices, tools and help stop working .

My question is why does the desktop client report full hashing power when they are not working at all ?

If it has locked up completely (crashed), then it will just show whatever was the situation before it failed. For most users it runs stable, but a few have reported that it uses more and more memory until it gets sluggish and eventually locks up. I'm looking into this. It might help if you can tell me which mining devices you are mining with. The users who experience this problem must have something in common.

There were some server issues the other day that caused my lights to all be green for a little while, hopefully they turn off for you as well.

I have an additional question though, why did my 'expected per block' drop in half overnight? Nothing turned off or wasn't working for any of the time i was asleep, i just woke up to half my earning potential. I know i don't understand everything about mining but that just doesn't seem right, not like the total hashpower of the site doubled or anything.

-Sad Miner

Edit: I think someone was stealing my mining power by adding a pool of their own!!!!! Gonna need to change some passwords.

As far as I could see we had no server issues yesterday.

Was your mining client's config changed to mine at another pool?

You can check your average hashrate in the shifts at https://bitminter.com/shifts - that might be useful to figure out what happened.

I tried using BFGminer but it's very confusing, any plan on getting bitminter to work with red fury any time soon?

I hope to fix the hashrate issue. But the problem with it not detecting them as easily as bfgminer does, I have no idea what the problem is.

If you know how to use the command line, a simple way to run bfgminer:

Code:
bfgminer -o stratum+tcp://mint.bitminter.com:3333 -u user_worker -p X
949  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BitMinter client (Win/Linux/Mac, BFL ASIC, Block Erupter USB) on: January 22, 2014, 10:34:05 PM
Can I run BFGminer with the red fury and at the same time run the bitminter java program with my other miners?

I'm running the bitminter java program with 2 asic miners and my gpu. I tried starting BFGminer and pointed it toward my red fury. It found it and keeps asking Bitminter.com for work updates, but doesn't seem to be doing much. What am I doing wrong?

Yep, that will work. Just don't run the same devices in both clients.

Not sure what you are doing wrong with bfgminer. If it only says that the pool is requesting work updates, but never "accepted", then something is wrong.

Edit: "accepted" lines you should get with every accepted proof of work (aka "share"), which is what you get paid for. You should see those lines output in bfgminer regularly while the ASIC is working.

I have a question regarding the perks section. Not really sure where to look, and can't find a thread about it.

My question regards the Easy mode.  Is it worth the extra .50% extra? Will me results me that much better?

Also, the prepay BTC, is there a real chance that a block will be orphaned?

At the end of the day, I don't mind the donations. Just curious about what all of them do. The explanations provided
confuse me a little. Only been mining for under a week.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers!  Smiley

There is some info about worker difficulty and the easy mode perk here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=27062.msg3142713#msg3142713

Some blocks do get orphaned, but this is much less frequent than it used to be.

"Send coins" functionality added (aka manual cash out)

You can access it under the "my account" menu, or through the links on the account details page, in the current balance table.

This allows cashing out very small amounts. We can't pay the fee for these like we do for auto cash out, though. Mind the warning about collecting many tiny payments in your wallet. Doing so will cause higher fees for you in the future when you send those coins elsewhere.
952  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BitMinter client (Win/Linux/Mac, BFL ASIC, Block Erupter USB) on: January 22, 2014, 07:02:24 PM
Hi everyone, this is my first post and I really hope someone can help me.  I just purchased a red fury and still getting the timeout error on bitminter.  Has anyone able to figure out this error?  please help really appreciate it.

Some have issues getting it detected by Bitminter client, and some have problems with reduced hashrate. Hopefully I will be able to fix this in the future. For now, please use bfgminer instead (link on front page of bitminter.com).

Red Fury is very sensitive and often gets stuck in a non-working state, even with bfgminer. You may be able to recover with the reset button on the device, or you may have to unplug it and plug it back in the USB port again to wake it up.
953  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [440 TH] BitMinter.com [1% PPLNS,Pays TxFees + MergedMining,Stratum,GBT,vardiff] on: January 21, 2014, 10:36:29 PM
About blockchain.info showing too many Bitminter blocks, let me put it this way, I have sometimes seen their site get something right, but it's not often.

I emailed them about the problem, but they didn't reply.

According to them Deepbit is still finding several blocks per day, and half of P2pool's blocks are made by Bitminter. It would be funny if it wasn't confusing so many people.

TL;DR: blockchain.info data is usually wrong. Use this instead: http://blockorigin.pfoe.be/

Not sure if it was just me or not but at 11am EST my Bitminter ran out of work. I then somehow ended up with over 1000000 work units queued up but my hash rate was halved. I let it go for about a minute but it never normalized so I just restarted Bitminter and everything seems fine now.

Sounds like a network issue. When it cleared up the client grabbed a lot of work. Wouldn't have expected quite that much though. Also I've never seen it run at half hashrate like that after a network issue. Thanks for the report.

One question I do have though is that Bitminter usually tells me I'm running at between 98-101 Ghs. When I look at the shifts they're reporting between 89-94. Any insight on the difference?

The website estimates your hashrate based only on accepted work. If you have a lot of rejected work or miscalculations (hardware errors) then that can explain the difference.

some advise will be greatly appreciated please.
Ive been looking at the possibility of BTC mining but dont really have the funds to buy expensive equipment.
Really like the easy to use interface of BitMinter so am very keen to try this but wanted to know whats the minimum hash rate I need to be outputting to see some sort of return after electricity etc?
Would starting off with say a usb block erupter at 333 be ok or should I at least go for the one that gives around 1.6? The USB miners appeal to me more due to space issues.
many thanks

You'll need ASICs of course, to beat the electricity expenses. I think block erupter can still do that, but I guess it depends on your electricity prices. They can be hard to get at a price where you have a chance to break even, though. Run some scenarios through a bitcoin mining calculator before you decide what you want to pay for one. Or if you just want to try out mining and breaking even isn't that important, a cheap device like that should fit the bill.
954  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Bitminter client vs bfgminer hash rate using BF1 USB on: January 21, 2014, 07:39:52 AM
Thank you for the fast reply to my earlier questions in the newbie section. When I tried to go back and post a reply, the option for "reply" was gone. I'm assuming I can't post in the newbie section anymore after only one post? Strange.

Posting more should still work.

One weird thing I noticed. When using bfgminer, my BF1 has a solid red flashing LED. When using Bitminter client, the LED blinks Red to Yellow. Anyone know what the significance of this is? Maybe it could help troubleshoot.

That's interesting. Does anyone know what the colors and blinking means? I've never seen any technical info on this device. I looked at the bfgminer source code to try and find out how it works. Tongue

For example, you have 10 shifts, with one about 50% hash rate as all the others.  Well, during an outage, everyone's shift should be affected equally.  However, it seems that the estimated earnings are based upon the overall current hash rate in effect, not the hash rate during a particular shift.

It's based on what percentage of the work in the last 10 shifts was done by you. This was a routing error that affected some users and not others, so the few minutes it lasted it had some users mining and others not. This shouldn't affect things noticeably though if you are otherwise mining 24/7 since it was rather short. Some users took a while to switch back from their backups pools though.

To be exact the payouts are not calculated based on accepted proofs of work, but by score. Score = accepted proofs of work divided by difficulty. This slight complication is necessary to make the reward system completely safe from pool hopping during difficulty changes.

Reason for the bumpy ride we had:

It was a network issue that caused the majority of users to be unable to connect for a few minutes. Looks like we were down to 100 TH/s or so and the website was included in that so live stats went down as well. As data center engineers routed around the problem we came back to normal.
957  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Client and web interface questions - miscalculations/work rejected/speed on: January 20, 2014, 02:49:17 AM
Questions about BitMinter client:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8xnHjfkTh1rZG44ZGhTY2lTdUU/edit?usp=sharing
#1. Does this screen capture look normal to you? I am new to mining, so I'm not sure if the amount of miscalculations should be that high compared to all the other numbers. If the miscalculations number is too high, what should I do to remedy?
#3. Are the "work rejected" notifications normal? Should I be getting that many? Again, if not, how do I remedy?

Screen capture looks normal. Red fury for some reason reports a lot of nonces that are wrong. I'll see if I can improve this in the future, filtering out some of them if they are supposed to be expected. Red fury support isn't quite 100% yet. There's no docs for this thing and it is a bit of a weird device.

Stale work rejected is normal up to 0.5% of your work. More than that and it's not normal.

Questions about BitMinter.com web interface:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8xnHjfkTh1rZG44ZGhTY2lTdUU/edit?usp=sharing
#1. The Ghps numbers are not matching up with what the client is reporting as my speed. How do I fix, or is it just a problem on the website side? As you can see from previous screen shot of client, I am getting 2.6 Ghps, but the web stats are only showing .72 Ghps. The "statistics > Shifts(work effort)" tab is also not matching up. It reported "completed (2014-01-18 23:22), duration (2h 12m), difficulty (1,789,546,951), Total Thps (388.Cool, Your Ghps (0.Cool, Your Score (0.000196%), Your Work (1,406). I don't expect to get 2.6 Ghps as an average all the time, but .8 definitely does not seem right.
#2. How should I set up the options for my worker for optimal performance?

If it matters, I am running the client on Mac OSX Mavericks version 10.9.1. I have an ASIC usb "Big Picture Mining BF1 v1 serial 15011a10". I also changed the perks to "pro minter" at 2% to see if the "easy mode" and "non stop minting" would fix things. It did not Sad

#1 some users have reported this with Red Fury. So I recommend using bfgminer for now. The Red Fury support definitely needs more work.

#2 no more setup needed. Easy mode is for being able to set a high number of work submits per minute. That's for some high hashrate users who are worried about daily variance and want to mine at low difficulty.

Not looking good here either... I get

Communication error, HTTP status code 500

Still? Or working now?

Not sure what that was. Miners unable to connect for a few minutes. Could have been a short network outage. Everything was working before I could look at it.

Apologies for that.

Is that simply telling me that it is using what my computer has and that I do not have an attached device, such as something plugged into my USB port?

Yes, it's looking for ASIC hardware and not finding any.
