"mining and watching ads and trading on crypsy" isn't "working hard"
123  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Just another noob wishing he jumped in the pool earlier on: December 10, 2013, 02:29:20 AM
LTC is too expensive already. Want to be early adopter - load on COL or CENT.
124  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin memory usage on: December 09, 2013, 07:43:13 PM
My bitcoind is also consuming more and more memory over the time... 590 mb usually.. and then growing growing up to more than 1 gb after some days..

125  Local / עברית (Hebrew) / Re: New to Bitcoin would like to buy some hardware for mining on: December 03, 2013, 02:49:38 PM
Calculate your ROI carefully. Take cloud mining at cex.io for example. Current price/GHs is 0.07 XBT.
If difficulty continues to increase x2 per month, 1 GHs will generate you 0.04 XBT, mining from now to eternity.
So you are better off just buying XBT at an exchange.
126  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Need to switch to mBTC soon on: December 02, 2013, 09:39:47 PM
"Millibitcoin" is awful. No chance a normal person could say it, or understand it. "Satoshi" sounds much better, and it will serve for longer. In the ideal case that BTC replaces all the money in the world, one satoshi will be conveniently priced around 1 penny, I think that's how Satoshi choose total number of bitcoins - 21M.
127  Economy / Economics / Re: Distribution of bitcoin wealth by owner on: December 01, 2013, 03:46:56 AM
I just bought new winter boots for my wife with BTC profits. Next month I'm going to buy a car.
128  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: casascius and other physical bitcoins is a fraudulent idea on: December 01, 2013, 03:34:09 AM
Worst first post ever.

Casascius has been around since just about the dawn of Bitcoin. AFAIK, there have been exactly 0 accusations of him keeping and using coin privkeys (keeping in mind Goat, one of the most temperamental Bitcoin users of significant public awareness, has had thousands of bitcoins in Cas coins). There have been no cases I'm aware of where the seal's been successfully bypassed and sold as legitimate. Unlike self-printed paper wallets, Cas coins can be traded in a relatively secure manner offline because Casascius is a trusted third-party.

Worst 798th post ever. The OP is not accusing Caucasus of stealing, he says people shouldn't trust physical coins. Even if you buy a Caucasus coin from someone, the seller could have peeked behind the seal, using the right equipment, especially if BTC price is high.

130  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What would you pay? on: November 29, 2013, 11:25:27 PM
use a mining profitability calculator, for example here http://mining.thegenesisblock.com/. You will see that 5GHz miner running from now to eternity with free power, will generate ~0.3 BTC.
131  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Transaction queue backed up, why the pool limit under 1mb? on: November 19, 2013, 06:09:54 AM
how they decide which trnasaction to include into the block? they sort by fee size/tx size?
132  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Best non-taxable way to cash in your BTC? on: November 16, 2013, 03:56:42 AM
Pay your capital gains tax, and sleep well knowing that you won't go to jail.  And be glad it's just capital gains, and not self-employment income.

There is no way to prove it's capital gains. Will Bitcoin Foundation send you a 1099? In absence of proof, you will pay highest tax rate applicable to you.
133  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mike Hearn, Foundation's Law & Policy Chair, is pushing blacklists right now on: November 15, 2013, 04:06:29 AM
Don't forget that Mike Hearn works for G$$gle, which allegedly has close ties to NSA/CIA.
NSA's one known attack vector is to infiltrate protocol development committees and influence their decisions to compromise security.
134  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Just bought bitcoin using Coinbase, need help with paper wallet please on: November 14, 2013, 06:37:02 AM
but first send the bitcoins to that randomly generated key? Couldnt someone randomly generate that key and have access to my wallet?

the chances of a random address collision are very very slim.  search for it.

personally i generate my paper wallets using bitaddress.org on an offline computer booted from a linux live CD but that's just how it was done in 2012.  so much easier now, haha.

How can you access bitaddress.org on an offline computer? And doesn't bitaddress.org owner then know your private key?
135  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Just bought bitcoin using Coinbase, need help with paper wallet please on: November 14, 2013, 06:35:20 AM
Its very simple. Login to coinbase, press account setting, integrations, and then create a paper wallet. Then simply print the page given to you. If you dont have a printer then write everything down, and take a screenshot of the page!

But then coinbase knows your private key.

those gift cards were probably bought using stolen credit cards. Sooner or later Amazon will catch you.

Filing accepted October 8, that's about when the current rally started. Coincidence?
139  Economy / Economics / Re: Mass Adoption of BTC on: October 22, 2013, 06:57:23 PM
I noticed that first sentiment that people express when first encountering bitcoin is: most bitcoins have already been distributed, I'm late to the party.

So the natural first reaction is negative.
140  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitstamp response to verification of documents - difficult to understand... on: October 21, 2013, 03:16:09 PM
just print your bill on paper, then scan it
