125  Economy / Speculation / Re: Whats goin on with Bitstamp right now?! on: March 03, 2014, 08:27:13 AM
It's almost Gox o'clock.   Surely someone has 5k coins to market sell?

We will see

I wished they did, and I wish they just dumped them straight into that 3K BTC cocksuckers bid wall.

It is fake, in that he has no intentions of it being triggered and picking up 3K BTC at $580, but he is trying to push up Bitcoin to meet the 4Hr PSAR, at which point much of the bot trading and human traders alike, will switch from net sell to net long mode. Every chance that he is sitting with 3 Million USD of liquidity just behind spot, and placing BTC sell orders at at around $580 as panic buying little fish gladly jump the queue 'in front of the monster that is seemingly about to push Bitcoin to stratosphere....we will see.

I am on verge of short margin call being triggered here but will not be going long on the back of this bullshit......not until $580 is strongly tested and even then I would want to see high volume support at higher prices than $580 if the market is to rise on the back of this bullshit.

I suspect a price spike, followed by bid wall support....3 million USD bid slips away followed by a massive dump.

Don't be a bear in denial, earlier on there was a 2k bid wall being eaten now 3k wall. He genuinely wants to buy and no one to sell at this range now..
Might be our 10k noob sell whale, back in business.

Edit: Wall moved up to 584, he wants coins..

We will see when the price gets to 599

Let's see what happens at 599 Wink

Thanks,  great story.
131  Economy / Speculation / Lets play, call the bottom! on: March 02, 2014, 09:52:12 PM
Since things have been a bit dull on the trading side lately, maybe we can pass the time by playing call the bottom.
To make it interesting, how about putting our money where our mouth is and bet 1 mBTC per person only one guess. I will collect the BTC and send it to the winner(s). The game will be for 3/3/2014. And it will be over when its 12 am in Tokyo. Winner will be closest to the mark based on lowest price on stamp. Winnings will be divided if multiple winners. You can send the 1 mBTC to 1EBfsnYiM9yiT9uSTCzSjJXV4UrEwd1mnE

I go first Tongue drum roll .......... 545

1). The exchanges appear to be unregulated and trusting them can lead to a load of heartache (Read MtGox here).
2). Time taken to send bitcoins to these exchanges (with confirmations) can be rather lengthy and this may lead to missing any good buy/sell windows.

With these 2 issues in mind, can anyone see a way round them so that you can leave coins on exchanges safely? Or at least speed up the transaction?

check out Open Transaction - this technology should be coming to an exchange near you, just ask for it. (Supply and Demand)

How would open transactions be implemented to current exchanges in your opinion?

Thanks

Ok, decision made. When I get back home in a month and get to my good computer with decent internet, I'm going to start to do some trading also. Until now I have just bought and hold and tried to do my learning and now I feel I should be able to do it. Made some imaginary calls "now I sell" "now I buy" for awhile now and it seems more likely that I can make more btc than lose some in the long run. Let's see how it goes.

Start with tiny money and work yourself up, pretty much everyone is simply trading money for experience for quite some time.

Go all in Wink

Trading is a game just like life, enjoy it for better or worse. While it lasts that is.
136  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 02, 2014, 01:00:17 AM
Lets say we had a new exchange, a transparent and open exchange. Is that possible? How?
137  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 02, 2014, 12:41:05 AM

"By keeping the funds off the blockchain, Gox removed the protections of transparency and end-user control and replicated the model of a centralized bank without any of the controls and oversight such institutions require”.

It would be easy for the other exchanges to let us control our own adresses while dealing on their platform

Nobody does....you might know already why Wink

https://medium.com/p/672545b3d8d7

Why dont they do it in an open way? It would help people trust them and increase business surely?

How would one go about making such an open transparent exchange? What would be the flaws?
138  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 02, 2014, 12:18:02 AM
these indicators are driving me nuts! 1D macd has a weak cross for 2 candles but stoch rsi is still insanely high even higher than before. the order book on stamp looks really strong but it's still not nearly as large as the gox order book used to be when gox was market leader. also, China still leads, which seems weird and dangerous.

My guess is, people are waiting to see what happens. Trust is damaged and will take a while to get people spending again. Also, people have put their coins into cold storage following all the recent rumors and problems.
139  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 01, 2014, 11:59:41 PM
Whats up with the movement the last 3 days? I've never seen this currency stay at the same price for so long really. Explain? For the last months the bots been all over the place (bitstamp for example) and trading/manipulating the price like crazy. Why not now?

Actually the price charts have been this dull before: e.g. from Dec/30 to Jan/2,  from Jan/20 to Jan/24, and from Jan/29 to Feb/05.

The first interval must be connected to the Western new year, the last one spans the Chinese New Year holidays.   I have no guess for  Jan20--24.

Investors must now be exhausted after seven straight days of highly intense trading and unbelievable news.  So, now that the bad news have ceased, many of them may have relaxed and paused for a while.

Also, the definitive closure of MtGOX removed a major source of "noise" in the market.  For example, many ill-informed investors may have tried to do arbitrage with MtGOX.  Others may have been "withdrawing" BTC from it via bitcoinbuilder and selling it on the other markets.  And perhaps the MtGOX thieves were trying to unload their booty.  Grin

Amen brother
