121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Mining OS] SimpleMining.net - Easy to use GPU MINING Operating System on: August 04, 2017, 06:25:52 AM
I'm having issues with the R-version of the OS.

It boots straight into the desktop (I can see the desktop), and never starts the miner-program.
Anyway I can manually start the miner?

It's been like this for weeks now, and I just tried with the newest version from your page, same result.

It was working fine until July!

Anyone else had this problem?

Bump.

An answer would be nice, I've already lost a month of mining on the R-rig..
122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RX Vega Rumored to Hash 70+ Mh/s on: August 03, 2017, 07:02:17 PM

really ridiculous article anyways:
nothing is clear or confirmed.
"....70 MH/s...."
"Vega Frontier mining performance (which has a hash rate of ~30 MH/s)."

which is it.

Vega Frontier and RX Vega 64 is not the same card.
123  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RX Vega Rumored to Hash 70+ Mh/s on: August 03, 2017, 06:34:18 PM
Seems like they will be sold at double the cost of the RX 580's tho, so power consumption better be lower!

Nice work, I like your channel!

Are you guys still buying GPU rigs, or what is your strategy going forward? Grin
125  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin cash needs miners BCH on: August 02, 2017, 08:36:46 PM
I'm mining BCH, its not all about profit! Smiley

And, if you can tell us, what is the secret, why you're mining this coin?
I cant find any reason to support this.
Of course I can be wrong, or haven't informations, you have.

Because I think BTC core is toxic as fuck, and I'd rather support anyone else tbh.

Regarding diff retarget: https://medium.com/@jimmysong/bitcoin-cash-difficulty-adjustments-2ec589099a8e

"Bitcoin Cash has a very particular rule about when difficulty can adjust downward. Rules for this are as follows:
  • Median Time Past of the current block and the Median Time Past of 6 blocks before has to be greater than 12 hours.
  • If so, it gets 20% easier to create proof of work. In other words, miners can find blocks 20% easier."

127  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin Cash mining on: August 02, 2017, 05:25:26 PM
So if i understand correctly any bitcoin miners can be used to mine BCH?

Anything that mines the SHA256 algorithm can mine any SHA256 coin, like Bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash.

129  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum mining still profitable? on: August 01, 2017, 08:39:55 PM
Personnaly i think it still profitable if you have always the gpu and you doesn't need to buy them, cause the difficulty will increase in somedays i think so let's mine now, it is maybe the end of mining profitable !

I think it is still very profitable now.
you do not think correctly. Chech ethereum profit calculators. With the increase in network hashrate, increase in difficulty due to the dirty bomb and the value which is half what it was 2 months ago, you are wrong. Even a 1070 will net less than a dollar a day after electric cost.

If you didn't buy gpus over priced then it is still a profitable decision, holding coins is always a good decision and with 31mhs on a gtx 1070 (presumably you can get more), you'll be netting 1.77-1.9$ per day as of current rates, even if you're left with 1.5$ as profit that's an ROI of 200-250 days depending on difficulty if it doesn't bomb as much more. That's a pretty good profit for a passive income business, if you hold coins and they go up, more profit.

The problem is that the difficulty will go up more and more with the passing of time (very nearby time). The problem is here in Italy I see people building 25.000-50.000 Euro worth of rigs with RX series(yes I have setup some for them as they have bought blindly) and they will surely increase difficulty.

One of my personal rigs which consists only of 3 Nvidia cards I have switched it to Zcash mining with EBWF Zcash miner. I was running them in Nicehash for Ethereum mining but I don't think it's worth anymore. Zcash mining gives me 7-10 USD more for a card if the coinwarz calculator is right.

The increase in diff is mainly because of the ice age, not increased hashrate! Cheesy
130  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: August 01, 2017, 08:35:36 PM
If Bitmain already got the D3s, its kinda weird that they havent gotten their DASH pool up and running yet! Seems like they are still testing at antpool!
131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Mining OS] SimpleMining.net - Easy to use GPU MINING Operating System on: August 01, 2017, 10:29:29 AM
I see there is a new field called "Group", is this functional yet? If so, how to add rig to a group? Cheesy
132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: July 31, 2017, 01:57:25 PM
Can please anyone tell me, why people buy D3, if there is A5?

Price...you can get 3 D3's for 300 bucks over 10k of 45gh

an A5 you can get 30gh for 10k I think their price is

my 2nd batch (ONE) D3 I got will arrive between Sept 18th and the 28th

A5 will arrive around the end of that month as well....

I myself think with the giant and I mean giant slam up in X11 difficulty...my miner will likely do the old 12-14 month ROI

in the 'plateau' after this full tidal wave of difficulty 'crashes thru' into December.

If it does better than that ...cool...but my expectations are very Modest.

Again this was on the 2nd batch D3 units at (again only got the ONE for above reasons on difficulty) as to a D3 offered to say

to hit the world middle of October after the A5's hit...er....not going there.

anyway, chump or champ we will know by end of December if any of this X11 stuff made any sense Smiley

(crypto: always drama) Smiley

I just made a spread sheet with various difficulty levels versus underlying coin price. My "worst case " for DASH is; 3m difficulty with DASH price at $50.00 and  .10Kw electricity. =$2,867.00 revenue per year. So that's your 1 year ROI/breakeven. Pretty ugly scenario to say the least but overall encouraging.

3m diff is a conservative guess IMO, I think it will be higher than this, sooner than you think Tongue
133  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Help with Ethereum Mining. Using Claymore Duel, and I get a DAG error? on: July 31, 2017, 12:16:42 AM
Your GPU has only 2GB of memory, that wont work with ETH mining anymore because of the size of the DAG file.
134  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU Power Pins on: July 29, 2017, 11:58:13 PM
I am also wondering which points are important while connecting GPUs to PSUs, couldn't figure out if I gotta use all the pins or just pick one ( my card has one 6 and one 8 pins to power, i am not sure which one to use connecting with PSU.. or maybe both? )

Is there any article / or information about PSU jacks?

You must connect both the 8 and the 6 pins, also for the OP, they probably do not affect mining efforts, some cards just need more power than others specially cards that are factory overclocked, you might get some boost but i don't think its anything big, most 1070s will do the same range.

Well, must isnt exactly correct, but its recommended.
Some GPUs wont start without both connectors attached tho.

It depends on how much power your card will draw from the PSU. Its obviously safer to balance power draw on 2 connectors instead of 1. But if you underclock and mine something that isnt GPU core intensive (like ethereum) you could probably get away with only one 8x pin connector.

Dont do this if you dont know what you are doing tho, nobody likes a closed casket funeral Smiley
135  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Launching the Antminer L3+, World's Most Powerful and Efficient Litecoin Miner on: July 29, 2017, 07:09:14 PM
I just spent a few grand to build a 3 GPU rig to get 95 HS/s while needing to buy 3 more cards to get to 186 HS/s just to find out about these damn miners that you cant buy?
Looks like they launch some before at $1,400, now they have a new batch for $2600 that you cant order and everyone is gouging the shit out of the market at $4k to $5k?

I really want one of these but as someone fairly new to alt coins, I have apparently missed the boat on all fronts.

*runs to find the closest bridge*

You bought a GPU rig to mine Litecoin? God damn everybody and their mother wants to be a miner, but have ZERO clue what they are doing, kinda frustrating! Tongue

Let me break it down for you:
There are many different coins and crypto algorithms. Some of the algos are ASIC resistant.

What is an ASIC? ASIC stands for Application Specific Integrated Circuit. It basically means that its a microprocessor that is application specific, all integrated on a chip. Application specific means it can only do one thing, or calculate one algorithm.

CPU and GPU´s are also Integrated Circuits, but can do MANY different operations. Because of this they need registers, cache/memory ALU++ to be able to do these operations, and to be fitted on the same chip. This leaves less room for the "calculating" part on the chip. (I´m sorry this is a little thin, I don´t know the word for it Tongue)

So to recap:
ASIC = Really fast at one operation
CPU = Can do a lot of different operations, but much slower than an ASIC on that specific operation.
GPU = Can do a lot of different operations, but much slower than an ASIC on that specific operation.

Obviously a CPU is much slower than a GPU when mining Ethereum for example. This is because of the type of algorithm used, it uses a lot of memory.
Ethereum is a good example of an ASIC resistant coin. The operations in the DaggerHashimoto algorithm is complex and requires a lot of memory.
This makes it hard and expensive to create an ASIC for it, and this combined with the difficulty bomb/ice age that is programmed into the ethereum code discourages manufacturers to even try to create an ASIC for it.

I used to mine litecoin with GPUs back in 2013, before the ASICs came a long. If I remember correctly I was getting around 3600 kH/s on a rig.
Thats roughly 600 kh/s per graphic card, and a graphic card contains 1 GPU chip.
The Antminer L3+ is a machine that contains 288 ASIC chips, with a speed of 504 MH/s

For perspective:
1 kH/s = 1000 h/s (hashes per second)
1 MH/s = 1000.000 h/s

So a GPU mining LTC will calculate around 600.000 h/s
And the L3+ will calculate around 504.000.000 h/s
Its obvious that when an ASIC hits the market for an algorithm, GPU mining will become obsolete.
So no, you can´t mine LTC with GPUs anymore Tongue

Before you go jumping of a bridge you should try mining ethereum, ethereum classic or ZEC. There are no ASICs for these coins (and many others).
Your GPUs could also be usable in the future in projects like golem or iExec RLC.

Welcome to the crypto game, lol xD

Im sorry if this post is hard to read, got zero structure, its my fragmented thoughts basically Cheesy

Hello anyone has received shipped email from Bimain for the L3+ batch 20-30 July? Today is the last business day and it is supposed to ship already. I emailed them 2 days ago but their support is quite slow this time. I thought maybe they acrually shipped but has not marked the order as shipped, but if you guys have any information, please share it to me. Thank you so much.

Yes, we had multiple batches from the July 15th and July 20-31 batches. Our first July 20-31 batch arrived last week and we just received shipping details this morning for our last July 20-31 batch. Our recorded date of purchase shown on the Bitmain order was May 15th.

You got to be kidding me  Angry

I got nothing and I ordered between 8-12 May....  WTF I knew they would be fucking me again

When you order doesnt really matter, its all about when your payment get confirmed.
Let me guess, you paid with bank wire? Tongue
137  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: July 28, 2017, 07:57:34 AM
What was the expected ship date for Batch 1 of the Antminer D3s?
sept

18th-25th sept , Lucky to get 2 but payment of 1 is still pending as done through wire transfer, and hearing horror stories of the same by some Persons on help page. Was not aware the that it would take so much time else would have paid using BTC as well. hoping it will reach them today as done on 26th.

False, batch 1 starts shipping 15th. Tongue
So basically batch 1 will start to be shipped on a friday, and batch 2 will start shipping the following monday.
I'm guessing they won't be able to ship the whole batch on the 15th, so there is very little difference between Batch 1 and 2.
138  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: ⚡⛏️[ANN] Giga Watt: Best Home for your Mining. Starts today! on: July 26, 2017, 01:59:32 PM
I'm really interested in this project, but:

Can I send you my personal miners to host at your facility?
Or do I need to buy the ones you are reselling (with a premium)?

Sure the power is cheaper, but if the miners costs 600$ more for each machine, it suddenly doesnt look so good anymore.

Cheers,
Tore

I wonder if I have to pay the full 21.5% on that. VAT is fucking insane. Sales tax should never exceed 7%.
Yes you do.
It is even more fun here in Finland because the VAT is 24%.  Smiley
Aint got nothing on Norways 25% Tongue
140  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: July 25, 2017, 01:21:16 PM
anyone can predict the difficulty we will have for Dash on the 1st of October? 5M?

Its really hard, but would love it if someone tried!

I'm calculation with 10M diff, and 9 months ROI time for the D3's.
I lower my expectations, I'd rather be pleasantly surprised with lower diff, than crushed by getting my hopes up! Tongue
