Does anyone know if you will be able to use this for other X11 coins? I am currently on the lookout for one to mine altcoins with.

Yes, you can mine any x-11 coin. You just have to set it up to a pool that has that coin and it won't differentiate from Dash or any other X-11. Darkcoin is dead though, I'm not sure what other X-11 exist.

Edit: found a decent list of X11 mineable currencies: http://www.coins2day.com/x11-coins-mining-software.html

You're a legend, thank you! I would prefer a piece of equipment that could do multiple algorithms - the hardest part is just finding hardware that is available.
Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

ASICs by their nature can only do one protocol. The best multi-algorithm miners are GPUs. The trade-off is the one that you always make when choosing a specialist versus a generalist. Specialists are fast but inflexible; generalists are flexible but not fast. That said, there are some algorithms that are ASIC resistant and those are the ones where the GPUs really shine. If you go down the GPU path, there are several GPU options (AMD versus nVidia), and each one has algorithms where it's more efficient than the other. Don't forget to factor in cost/availability into the efficiency calculations. AMD may be awesome on your favorite algorithm, but if you can't get AMD cards, then it's a moot point, and nVidia becomes the de facto "winner."

Here are a few more web sites to help you see what's going on in the world of mining pools and coin values:

No mining at the moment.

The shit-hole i went through with my wire-transfer reassured me that the whole crypt-currency is on the right track. If the price settles a bit more, it will be perfect.
I had not registered my bank-account for a higher limit to buy coins so i was forced to use wire-transfer.
The transfer did not show up at my account-history, because these guys would do int. transfers in USD only once a day. I found that out after speaking to their support for around half an hour... That stuff made me crazy! I was thinking that the 3 days limit from bitmain to receive wire-transfer is already short and then such problems! A good thing was that the usd-exchangerate had not dramatically changed until they executed my order. Next time i will buy whatever CryptoCurrency you can use and pay with that !

Yeah I'm on the same boat. My first wire transfer took to long to confirm from bitmain and instead of getting a May K3+ they pushed me to July. This time to order the D3 I made my payment LTC waiting for it. The bad thing is here it's hard, because of capital controls (1000euro transfer per month limit) to top up an exchanger. And 3d secure doesn't work for a year now. 3rd world countries man

Dear customer,

We are pleased to inform you that we have will release a new batch of the Antminer D3 miner at this link after 6:30 PM (Beijing time) on July 25, 2017.

The Antminer D3 is Bitmain’s first ASIC miner to mine the X11-algorithm based cryptocurrency DASH.

This batch can deliver a hashrate of 15 GH/s. Because of the high demand and the manufacturing period, shipping for this batch will start after 15th of September 2017 and on a “first paid, first ship” basis. If we advance the shipment, we will notify you.

Please clear cookies in your browser if you’ve log in our original website.
You cannot place an order with more than 50 units of the Antminer D3 on our website. If you want to order more than 50 units, please contact us.

We’ve just updated our official website. For your ease and understanding, we have attached description of the new order and payment process with this email.

If you are using USD wire transfer as the payment method for your order, please leave us a message with the payment proof and your order details at support.bitmain.com within 3 days of submitting your order.

To place your order in time and without issues, we suggest that you add your shipping address to your Bitmain account well before the new batch is released.

When you make an order on the Bitmain website, the system automatically calculates the shipping cost to your address for the products that you have chosen. You will see the shipping cost and can make changes before you confirm your order.

As the stock is limited, we suggest that you confirm your order by payment while stock lasts. For more information on how to place your order please see this article on our website.

We would like you to receive your shipment promptly and so request that you prepare in advance for the customs clearance in your country to avoid delays or even unexpected costs.

Please visit support.bitmain.com if you have additional questions or concerns.

We wish you a very happy mining experience.

Best regards,
The Bitmain team

Price...you can get 3 D3's for 300 bucks over 10k of 45gh

an A5 you can get 30gh for 10k I think their price is

my 2nd batch (ONE) D3 I got will arrive between Sept 18th and the 28th

A5 will arrive around the end of that month as well....

I myself think with the giant and I mean giant slam up in X11 difficulty...my miner will likely do the old 12-14 month ROI

in the 'plateau' after this full tidal wave of difficulty 'crashes thru' into December.

If it does better than that ...cool...but my expectations are very Modest.

Again this was on the 2nd batch D3 units at (again only got the ONE for above reasons on difficulty) as to a D3 offered to say

to hit the world middle of October after the A5's hit...er....not going there.

anyway, chump or champ we will know by end of December if any of this X11 stuff made any sense Smiley

Old Style Legacy Plug & Play BBS System. Get it from www.synchro.net. Updated 1/1/2021. It also works with Windows 10 and likely 11 and allows 16 bit DOS game doors on the same Win 10 Machine in Multi-Node! Five Minute Install! Look it over it uninstalls just as fast, if you simply want to look it over. Freeware! Full BBS System! It is a frigging hoot!:)

I just made a spread sheet with various difficulty levels versus underlying coin price. My "worst case " for DASH is; 3m difficulty with DASH price at $50.00 and  .10Kw electricity. =$2,867.00 revenue per year. So that's your 1 year ROI/breakeven. Pretty ugly scenario to say the least but overall encouraging.

3m diff is a conservative guess IMO, I think it will be higher than this, sooner than you think Tongue

Actually I tend to agree with his worst case scenario and I have no problem seeing DASH difficulty at 3m with a potential coin price of $50.00. If that does happen, it will not likely be overnight. It will take time and I feel strongly that you will pay off your hardware before this nightmare becomes reality.

Yes I do too. If price remains high I use 10m in my calculations. I'm using 3m at a $50.00 DASH coin price. That would be a pretty nasty crash from $179.00.

Difficulty will reach 10M really fast. However price won't go below 100$.

A realistic calculation would be with difficulties:

2M for Sept
6M in October
9M in November

Price between 150-230$us

I see....you're so good you can guarantee us that "price won't go below $100.00". That's just ridiculous. I agree with your calculations on difficulty. It's pure hubris to make definitive claims about the price of the asset. Any asset.

Comparison b/n D3 and L3+?  ROI wise, seems obvious D3 is winner.  Any reason to buy L3+?

Depends on how soon you can get either one. L3+ has already sold several batches, and D3 only a few. If you can get a D3 ordered in the next batch then it would be better than getting an L3+ in the next batch.

The difficulty of the hash rate is increasing at a far faster pace. It is easily negating the value of the increase in the coin. The larger release of the units hasn't even hit the pools yet. LTC profitability is down almost 50% already from the stated highs. That will get much much worse.
