I have decided that Ripple random shitcoin is an attack on Bitcoin the same as Bcash other random shitcoin.  They are trying to scare holders into selling by wash trading a Flippening.  Don’t fall for it.

FTFY. They've been trying this lame 'flippening scare' tactic for over a year now, because they are all fresh out of other shitactics.

Pumping random garbage will never work. The Bitcoin community has matured and can see through the bullshit.

Wallstreet desperately needs more bitcoin supply to play their con games with the public, and there just isn't much available. So they are desperate to get existing holders to part with their bitcoin. They want them to make rookie trading mistakes, divest into a myriad of shitcoins, or just get frustrated and sell... whatever they can do to shake people out. It doesn't appear to be working.

This is also my belief. There is a very low quantity of circulating Bitcoin. If you can create FOMO and generate an order book full of buyers wanting your crapcoin, you then wait for the right moment then dump en-masse generating a large quantity of Bitcoin for yourself and a large number of ‘successful’ traders. I notice that the more reputable alts are not pumping as hard as the blatant scams.

So, I spent $15k USD, with change and paid a $10 transaction fee, and it confirmed in 32 minutes. That's not too bad.

I spent about $10 in fees to probably not get any BitcoinsUnited. That's not too good. Smiley

I’ve made no effort to claim anything free. I didn’t claim my free Ripple (thought it was a scam) and didn’t follow through with my free stellar (thought it was a scam and didn’t want to use Facebook) ... I did alright on a few presales but even now, I’m really sceptical of everything now. Maybe I should retire  Angry

Ripple? The FOMO is hitting me... but I can’t swap my Bitcoin for.... that!!! What the hell is wrong with these people?

So I went offline for a couple of days and just returned - wtf happened yesterday? It even made the BBC news that btc had lost one third of its value.  Any exciting news or just a shake out of weak hands?

I was not feeling well and couldn’t check the price every thirty minutes. The world revolves around me and because of that, the price collapsed. Sorry.

The Independent (UK Newspaper) is truly a pathetic excuse for journalism

Quote
"For the average person like me, bitcoin is always a gamble", he told The Independent. "But people are treating it like a punt".

The entrepreneur says he's staying away from bitcoin for now, and may look into alternative cryptocurrencies such as ripple - "something with more substance - but only a little more", although he admits that "substance" isn't the best word for cryptocurrencies at the moment.

God damn. Took long enough, but we can now be certain we've seen the highest prices bitcoin will ever achieve. Long term is only down.
based on what?

该死的。花了很长时间,但我们现在可以肯定,我们已经看到比特币将达到的最高价格。长期只是下降。

Welp, my ledger is stuck. Initiated it, transferred a small amount, wiped it and restored just to make sure that part worked. Aaaand it's stuck. Only displays the setting option and won't let me click on to bitcoin. Opening the wallet app does nothing, resetting it again does nothing. This does not inspire confidence.

On the other hand, my trezor seems to be working just fine.

Good to know.  I have gotten a Ledger recently but have not tested it out.  Restoring from seed always makes me sweat.

I may receive mine someday, if my BTC payment ever gets confirmed.  What's the required sat/B these days anyway?
Way too high.
Ya I got that.  Maybe I have not been paying attention, but >500 sat/B seemed exorbitant.  It's been a hour.  At what point does bitpay say fuck you, you no get toys?

I had a problem with Bitpay yesterday. Client paid 0.0014 fee (approx $25) and the transaction was broadcast within 5 minutes of the Bitpay invoice (proven by time stamps) - it confirmed with one confirmation within 1.5 hours but Bitpay say payment window expired. They say he can get a refund but he’s not happy because it was a valid transaction and he paid a high fee to send it.

Off Topic, but should be of importance to everyone, really.

Anyone using proton mail?  I've left gmail as my general email provider (kitten pics, boring shit, and log ins for unimportant shit) for too long, and I'm not convinced my 'more secure (obscure?)' providers are any better.  The last straw - I just reset my passwords via webmail, and ALL of my android devices automatically updated and logged in with the new passwords.  This is beyond sketchy.  It screams GET OUT NOW, or years ago, if you have a way back machine.  I try not to use it for anything important anyway, but WTAF.  So its time to evacuate and consolidate.  Anything better than proton out there?  If it's not free, it has to accept crypto.  And of course, be anonymous.

Yesterday I made the same decision for different reason. I got pissed off with Gmail not playing nicely with Outlook 2016 and switched to a paid ProtonMail account. Very good - their Mac IMAP encrypt/decrypt program is excellent. I’ve been using free protonmail to send passwords and private stuff for a year or so. They’re good.

I have held from $13.   Still consider myself a bag holder.

Heartbreaking

Here’s a tip.  Become a Monero bag holder in a very small proportion of your portfolio.  Not because you believe but for insurance.  Insurance is expensive but none of us are smart enough to know the future.

Bitcoin is an all-or-nothing proposition. Insurance against what exactly?

Monero has many qualities that make it a better ‘bank account’

All coins up big and BTC still at the same level. Can't wait till the alt-money is gonna be dumped into BTC.  Grin

That's what I'm waiting for, but, I'm slightly concerned that we won't make it back up to 60% BTC dominance level that we were at the other week, and that we will just drift lower from here. It got down to the 30s earlier in the year, and I'd rather it not go back there.

Probably, that indicator is not as important as you seem to be crediting it.

Alt coin pumpers want to give a lot of credit to such numbers in order to scare you out of your bitcoin by causing you to conclude that you need to be investing somewhere else, besides bitcoin. Hopefully, you are not getting distracted by such get rich quick diversions and being tricked out of your bitcoin?

Agreed. I was looking at the Bitcoin Dominance indicator and it’s irrelevant. Bitcoin has probably got 90% market share or more. If you remove the non-mineable and scam tokens.... then remove premined coins, you’re only left with BTC, LTC and XMR * with potentially true market values.

Edit: * and BCH

Edit again: possibly BCH doesn’t count because the coins were airdropped... I’m on the fence with that one.

ATH Stamp.

Yeah. That was my fault. I sold $5000 about two hours ago. It always goes on a rally when I sell some  Grin

I blinked... and missed it.

Parabolic rises always end in tears... for somebody.

Truest words on this forum.

Or... Recovery from crash always ends up in big smiles :p
Depends on your point of view! hodlers will be happy regardless

I've been through a crash. Been underwater in bitcoin. But I didn't cry, and I didn't sell at a loss. I just DCA-ed down and hodled. And had to listen to the squawk of bears and trolls for 18 months straight.

Now I have big smile. And balls of steel. Grin

When it happens again, I'll just do the same.

If we end the year over 10k, I’ll be happy. This is rising too quickly.

Just comment on the unconfirmed transactions to see if someone could clarify if they were spam or not. Nobody could prove it, then they censored me.

No. You don't get it. Fuck off. This is not a thread to discuss transaction esoterica.

Take it to another thread.

Don’t beat about the bush. Say what you really feel.
136  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why people from 3rd countries are crazy about getting cryptos? on: December 02, 2017, 10:10:47 AM
The Philippines has an excellent on/off ramp to Bitcoin and Fiat called coins.ph. Users can buy/sell bitcoin as well as transfer exact amounts of Philippine Pesos for no fee or danger of chargeback. As such, Bitcoin opens the possibility of Ecommerce and eliminates the current (very real) credit card fraud. The zero fee also makes it a better option than PayPal and banks which are terrible in the Philippines. Banks charge a fee for just about everything and can close your account for any reason. They also have horrendous queues at peak times with ridiculous waiting times. By comparison, coins.ph can be funded at any pawn shop or 7/11 grocery store. Mobile phone load for all networks can be bought instantly directly on coins.ph. Overseas workers can also send micro payments of money easily to their relatives where banks make this hardly cost effective.

In short.... the banks in the Philippines suck and coins.ph is better than a bank.

Edit: I forgot to mention that they also have zero fee withdrawal to a bank and zero fee cardless ATM withdrawals (basically a gift card via ATM... enter a 16 digit code to withdraw at Security Bank ATMs)

Is anybody here still buying? Huh

Of course.

If the price goes down, then buy, and if the price goes up then sell.

The price has been going up and down in the past two days... so just apply the formula.

My friend says: it´s a bubble, way to expensive. I don´t buy.
And when it goes down, he says: See, i told you, it´s bursting. I don´t buy.

Guess what comes out of it: He doesn´t buy, ever !

What can i do (he´s my friend) ?
I´ll shake him until he comes to his senses  Smiley Don´t know, what to do else.

Of course, it's normal for things to get very cheap on the black market once they become illegal.

How many hodlers actually have less coins than they did four years ago? .

Corrections are a necessary evil, and whilst I hate seeing the value slashed, I don’t particularly worry about it.

In 2014, I was underwater by 60% and threw ‘good money after bad’... and bought some more Bitcoin and a bit of Monero (which was around 40 cents)!

Still waiting for the real dip.... muhahahaa (or weeeee x if I quote Gembitz)

140  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 23, 2017, 06:10:29 PM
I hate revealing the contents of my wallet when I pay someone.

That's cool. You can think what you want about Monero. But every time I've spent bitcoin on something, I've never revealed the contents of my wallet to anyone. So...?

I avoid it where possible, but it’s not as easy to do as it is using Monero. What’s your trick for simple obfuscation in Bitcoin? Do you transfer to an exchange then out again or something like that?
