122  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: TRANSACTION FEE???? WTF IS THIS? on: December 25, 2013, 12:53:19 AM
Quote
A transaction may be safely sent without fees if these conditions are met:
It is smaller than 10,000 bytes.
All outputs are 0.01 BTC or larger.
Its priority is large enough (see the Technical Info section below)

First result on google for bitcoin transaction fee.
123  Economy / Speculation / Re: [Poll] How long until $1000 per 1 Bitcoin? on: December 25, 2013, 12:42:53 AM
Think about it - all the people voting or replying in this topic could have bought bitcoins at $15 after they hit send. Instead, most of them didn't because they were expecting 0.10$ coins.

Now, we see exactly the same thing different magnitude, people waiting for 10$ coins while afraid of buying $500 coins Smiley So funny, especially since many of the people are the same Smiley Dig it up at 10k and we'll share another laugh at short-sightedness of some.

I am waiting for the 500 USD coins...do you think it will go down now? It doesn't look like it...

it was there just several days ago! you could have bought. now, no idea.

It went down to $500 twice during the recent bubble.
You still have time before end of the year, I think next year we will go up until next bubble.
Unless catastrophic news, of course..

125  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Use another bitcoin address as your password on: December 25, 2013, 12:31:02 AM
my recommendation is USE A PASSWORD that you ALREADY USE ON THINGS
cause if u forget it, it's so long money

Worst suggestion ever!

bitpop it's a good idea to choose a password.
Nonetheless security through obscurity is not secure enough
and considering you have to store the password somewhere anyway,
this doesn't increase security
126  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Official Lamborghini for bitcoin thread! on: December 25, 2013, 12:24:33 AM
Not to be harsh, because I am really happy for you if this is what makes you happy, but this post shouldn't be in this section, it belongs to off topic imho
Bitcoin is not about buy a nice car
127  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Wallet password forgotten , 1.5 BTC in wallet!!! help! on: December 25, 2013, 12:20:47 AM
Do you know what it might be? Also, do you have a backup of the wallet from before you changed the passphrase? If so, the old passphrase will work with the backed up wallet.

Don't send your bitcoin to anybody and don't disclose any information about your password.
Instead follow the suggestion quoted, you have a backup, right?
128  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: We might get lucky? on: December 25, 2013, 12:18:49 AM
I guess we all are here because we think we might get rich. We believe that the "crypto/online" currency innovation that bitcoin (and all the altcoins) is can be successful. I'm curious if one of you is thinking otherwise. Please share your thoughts.

To become rich was the very first attraction point, at least for me.
Since then I am now much more interested in the technology and the economic around it.
It's incredible if you think about it: a currency/commodity "good enough" to be used to buy almost anything, not backed by any other commodity or government (as we know it today  Grin)
129  Other / Off-topic / Re: Who is home alone on Christmas day? on: December 25, 2013, 12:00:24 AM
I am with my partner only instead of my family or friends, we couldn't fly this here so we are "alone" as well
A perfect day to cook what we like, watch a couple of movies and relax :-)
Do what you like, it's the best way to spend a day off!
Don't trade bitcoin, probably it's going to be a very low volume market today
130  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts on Dogecoin? on: December 24, 2013, 11:57:50 PM
QuantumScript I guess you are new to this "fantastic" world, or a puppet to spam doge even at christmas? no idea

Anyway, doge is a "pump and dump" coin, it goes like this:
1) mine the shit out of it when diff is very low
2) spam the board, give away and shit like that
3) continue hype, start selling small amount to show that there is a market
4) continue to sell at ridiculous prices, exchanging it for BTC (which is the final goal)
5) create another coin and start for 1

Don't get caught, spend your FIAT on serious coins, and I suggest you buy coins rather than a mining rigs
It will be really difficult to ROI unless you join the doge-like system
131  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why switching to mBTC won't increase Bitcoin price. on: December 24, 2013, 11:49:11 PM
Whether mBTC is a nasty move to increase the price or not, I think we should adopt it.
It's much easier for everybody to spend in units and not in 1/1000 or a unit, expect if you are a nerd.
I have no problem myself but I understand that others might do and this can easily help them.
So why not?

133  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: So sick and tired of being afraid on: December 24, 2013, 03:44:58 PM
The money involved with bitcoin is serious money and life changing money.

I don't understand, what's the problem?
Do you think bitcoin exchanges are not mature or serious enough to handle your money?
Take out your coins and put it somewhere else.
If you don't want to lose FIAT, stay away from any exchange and use your cryptos
Easy!
134  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PRELAUNCH] Catcoin - Scrypt meow! on: December 23, 2013, 11:41:00 PM
It's not compiling on linux. There goes your fair launch.

It is.

Code:
make[1]: Entering directory `/home/miner2/catcoin/src/leveldb'
Makefile:18: build_config.mk: No such file or directory
make[1]: *** No rule to make target `build_config.mk'.  Stop.
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/miner2/catcoin/src/leveldb'
make: *** [leveldb/libleveldb.a] Error 2

So what am i doing wrong then?

Code:
qmake
make
doesnt work

make -f makefile.unix doesn't work eitehr.

Both methods works for me.

For the qmake/make approach, I just need to chmod +x something for which it complains.

Really? I've got this error for both methods:
Code:
cd /home/xxx/Downloads/coins/catcoin/src/leveldb && CC=gcc CXX=g++ make OPT="-m64 -pipe -fstack-protector-all -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 -O2" libleveldb.a libmemenv.a
/bin/sh: 1: ./build_detect_platform: Permission denied
make[1]: Entering directory `/home/xxx/Downloads/coins/catcoin/src/leveldb'
Makefile:18: build_config.mk: No such file or directory
make[1]: *** No rule to make target `build_config.mk'.  Stop.
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/xxx/Downloads/coins/catcoin/src/leveldb'
make: *** [/home/xxx/Downloads/coins/catcoin/src/leveldb/libleveldb.a] Error 2

do this:

cd catcoin/src/leveldb [press enter]
chmod +x build_detect_platform [guess what? press enter again!]

135  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Your hashrate (KH/s) on you pc. on: December 21, 2013, 05:40:57 PM
I sold my GPUs in the middle of the summer, I couldn't stand the heat anymore! LOL
Now I am mining with my gaming pc, just 650kh/s, a tiny bitcent a day

138  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Buy COINS on EBAY a scam or what.. on: December 20, 2013, 10:08:59 PM
[...]
Edit: Some people can pay more because they know if they issue a charge-back that paypal with give them their $ back. so essentially, they are getting the coins for free.

That's the real point. Don't buy on ebay, use localbitcoin and actually meet people.
Pay cash and verify the transaction while drinking a coffee and discuss bitcoin news!
139  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC and altcoins rising and falling together on: December 20, 2013, 09:07:12 PM
BTC is the only coin you can use at the moment to make real cash (USD).
Today i read an anouncement that the Worldcoin wil be the next coin that gets an option to make directly USD of it. It will be in feb 2014. So i guess that will effect in a compleet change for the market of all altcoins.

What are your thoughts about it?

I certainly made some money with WDC already so I can't complain
my 2 cents:they are doing this for them and their friends heavily invested on WDC.
Any investor/coder really interested in cryptos would develop additional services/code for BTC
This is what people should push, not some shit coin with no infrastructure.
140  Economy / Speculation / Re: Invest or not invest into crypto currency? here is the question on: December 19, 2013, 12:16:12 PM
coinSeeker82, if what you are asking is genuine, but I guess is not, buy btc and hold it for years.
Do this only if you truly believe in it because you will be tempted to sell, maybe at a loss, many times.

or is this a way to scam people and add some rep to an unknown service?
