Except for the fact that you can't download the Blockchain or move the coins.

You don't need internet access for offline storage.  You can move coins just fine, you just need to be able to sign transactions.

Cheapest new laptop on newegg is $275, so go for that or get a raspberry pi.

He probably doesn't post because he's depressed about the situation.  Or maybe he's working out a secret deal and can't tell us about it until it's finalized.

Run two instances of cgminer.

I think the command is something like cgminer -usb :20

Or maybe try --compact

If Avalon ever ships we'll have a lot of assembled K16s and the firmware will get sorted out quickly.  I'll even dust off my PICkit 3 and MPLAB if I have to.

Also it's likely only the first 10,000 chips requested will be refunded (no partial batch refunds).  Possibly the first 20,000 chips, but it doesn't seem like 1/3 want a refund.
1207  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Pool mining is dead... on: September 09, 2013, 04:22:22 PM
0% of the last block was mined by a pool.  Pools are dead!   Long live pools.

There's one in my sig.  Basically you can install linux to a USB key instead of a harddrive.

Start with a lawyer.

Just get a cheap old laptop and use linux.  Less than $100 on ebay.

Good idea except an old computer could have a Trojan. And the hard drive will crash sooner than a new one.

You can put a new HD in.  You don't even need a hard drive, just use a USB key.

Do you have both installed? Can you just try uninstalling openntp?

Totally not fair, in the first place you shouldn't mark up 10% and add another 5% if other group buy can give 100% refund. Next time you know who to sign up for group buy.

He's not adding another 5%.  He's giving 95% refund of the original price.  .0817/.086 = .95

Hmmmm... Sounds like a great offer to have chips refunded.

Hopefully Mine 20 BTC starting mid-sept... or get refunded 22 BTC...

Does anyone know what happens if lets say it gets up to only 2000 of the 10,000 chips for a certain batch that would be refunded and no more people are willing to request a refund? Would that mean that I will never get my refund? Or would it just mean that Ill just have to take the chips because it didnt reach the 10,000 after a long period of waiting for the big 10k?

As I read it, a refund can only be provided for 10,000 chips at a time.  So the first 10,000 chips requested to refund will be refunded, followed by the next 10,000 requested, etc.  So the last 1-9999 chips requested for refunds will not get a refund, but will be forced to take their chips.  It's like a group buy in reverse.

Ha, sometimes I accidentally send work emails from my personal account too.

When I have only the zadig WinUSB drivers installed, the miner isn't assigned a COM port.

That's right, that's why you don't use the -S option.

I hereby vote that we do NOT give access to boxman90 to sort everything out. :-)

I vote we boot him from the thread by all ignoring him, and then go back to a reasonable conversation.

He's likely on vacation with the rest of the country.

You shouldn't have both zadig and the other drivers installed.  Just use the zadig.  Are the devices showing up properly there?

Does anyone have firmware for the k16 that we can have open sourced online yet?

All the firmware is in the git, or do you mean something else?
