But what is the use of having this much wealth, if the population want to eat shit?
What we're seeing is the corrupting effect of wealth. If your every need is taken care of, then instead of tilling the fields you end up sitting around twiddling your thumbs until you find yourself looking down into the bog with your mouth watering. These people need some hardship back in their lives.

I love all the 'I'm not paying tax on Bitcoin because it's on, like, the internet' posts. Good luck with that one, young man.
There's a million other things you can opt out of paying taxes on too. That doesn't mean you won't get ravaged if they find out about it.

But bitcoin price are facing a huge problem because of the precense of BTU. I don't know what is happening to bitcoin. For it is alright to stay put what bitcoin is now. This is all start when bitcoin shows a multiple price jump on past month. I hope that this will not affect the future of bitcoin.
Is this a post dated necro post too? BTU is so totally last month. They've played their hand and lost. They'll probably reemerge in another form but I think fatigue is setting in.

I am not too sure bitcoin will reach half a million dollars in 2030. The price is too high and unreasonable. many things to be calculated into predicting the price of bitcoin.
You're saying no to a 10 trillion dollar market cap? Pah. I manage things like that before breakfast with the wind behind me.

Once again the Scandinavians lead the way in progressiveness. This is the way the world is going, kids. In a couple of decades you won't be able to afford water to drink or crickets to eat. Best that you start consuming your own feculence right now.

If I was Satoshi right this very moment I'd go out and get pissed out my head in disgust at what my lovely baby had morphed into.

I thought something like Bitcoin would be mostly innocuous for a country that big, but apparently not.
Everything starts off innocuous. This was always going to happen at some point. It's rather amazing how little of a shit the rest of the market gave about all of this when it spent years cowering in the face of Chinese bots. I wonder where it would be now if China had gone all the way in 2013. Now all they need to do is cut the Chinese mining cancer out and we might actually get somewhere.
They're making a lot of silly assumptions.
"From 2013 to 2017, the network grew from 120,000 users to 6.5 million users, nearly a 54-fold gain. Such growth would produce 400 million users in 2030."
That's one of them. That reminds of the cartoon about infinite husbands based on future projection.
And I don't believe there will ever be a Bitcoin ETF.

Same as pretty much everywhere else then.
What's the story with the wallets stopping functioning? Will all accounts be new from scratch? Will you have to crawl through the mud to get those frozen coins back? I hope they made a careful note of whose coin is whose.

What's the basis for these figures?
I'm in the UK. I can't quite believe it's in third place as there isn't one proper exchange with conventional banking.
And conventional banking wouldn't be much better off if that happened either, let alone all the countless other things such as power stations, traffic systems and on and on. It is a tad alarming how many eggs we're putting into one basket. In the years to come you'll be able to include your car and home into that as well.

I think it's time we had a shill rank on here. It can be voted for by other users. It could be regarded as a badge of honour or utter disgrace.

What are your favourite photos? I don't necessarily mean the composition or the subject, more the story or theme behind them. Here's a few current faves of mine. John McGuinness and Guy Martin signing up for Honda for the Isle of Man TT. It kind of sums up the appeal of the sport to me. I can't quite see F1 teammates doing the same thing. A dead famous photo to some. Adrian Street is a Welsh wrestler to ran away to London to avoid the mines. His father on the left told him he wouldn't amount to shit. Here he is back down the mines in all his finery having becoming world champ. Dolly the sheep's descendants, or more correctly more Dolly the sheeps.
It was much easier to mine them than buy them.
A guy repaired my computer whose average buy in was 13c. I assume back in those days it was done on the OTC channel or whatever the period equivalent. I also remember reading on here about someone moaning on there because no one would sell to them. Another seller took pity on them and gave them 2000 BTC.
Thats right. There werent any hardware wallets around back then I heard.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=388169.0This thread always gives some perspective. Lots of people around here seem to enjoy sneering at anyone who sold at $1 but hindsight is always 20/20. If you'd paid less than 1c and it was still very possible it was going to turn to dust then the temptation to make bank would've been too much for most. If I'd been active in 2011/12 though I don't think I would've folded.

This bunch sound like they have some actual competence on their side. Let's see what they roll out.
When I first learnt of it in 2009 it didn't technically have a price. Did I do anything about it at the time? Nope. Otherwise I'd be paying someone else to type my droolings. It sounded interesting then it slipped my mind for a few years.
I think nobody around here bought BTC at $1, at least not on this forum.
They're definitely out there. It really wasn't that long ago. Whether any of them actually managed to hang on to them until now is another matter.

Where do you live ? But regardless of your geolocation, I guess you may find enormous number of bitcoin accepting merchants online. But still you are talking no merchants accepts, how ? I believe I could buy everything which are needed for my living with bitcoin payments.
Ah, you'd be surprised. I'm in the UK and the Bitcoin payment options are very slender, mainly because no business can retain a bank account if it's associated with BTC. My main shopping portal with it just gave up so I mainly use one place for gift cards now. There are always debit cards of course but that seems a tad against the point.
