I paid $500/card for 1070ti's last week and again this week.  Check out the stats on whattomine to compare.

Found something for you ... Just use this one ... I think you could make 0.3 cents usd per year.  But hey ... If you live to be nine hundred trillion years old, you might be rich later in life.

What kind of rig do you have?  How many do you have?  What are the power requirements for your rig(s)?  What is the max power draw from the electrical circuit?  How many rooms are on that same circuit?  FUCKING JEZZZUS, JUST DO THE FUCKING MATH.

My Sapphire Nitro+ 56 just arrived a few hours ago, been tinkering with it but the most I'm getting is around 1300 h/s.

Got core -30% and memory at 945. It's running smooth but I was expecting a fair bit more.

Does anyone have Nitro+ 64 BIOS they could share as I think the next step is trying to flash the silent bios with 64 unless anyone has any other suggestions!!
Download GPU-Z and find out who manufactures the HBM2. If it's Hynix (and it probably is), you may be SOL in terms of mining performance - at least until AMD fixes their software so that Cryptonight workloads utilize the Compute drivers.

An announcement was made around the 15th of December that the Nitro cards were shipped to retailers, but I haven't heard of them being sold anywhere yet.

NewEgg had them. I own a 56, and a family member has two 64s.

Yeah ... Newegg currently has a FE Vega card for $750USD and you can only buy 1.  No one has had these things at a reasonable price for the past month.  I bought six XFX Vega 56's around November 26th for $525USD each including tax and shipping.  I love them.  A few days later I bought six more from B&H at $550 each on backorder.  A month later, they send me an email saying AMD has discontinued them and cancel my order.

I don't mind paying 600-625 per card for a Vega 56, if someone had them in stock.  Idiot on Amazon is selling one for $1999.00.  Yeah sure, I'll pay that much for a Vega 56 when the crypto market cap is trillions of dollars as a whole.  I'm just pissed off that I had an order for 6 in at $550/card and a month later, they say ... Sorry, can't fulfill your order ... Lol.  That and I need to buy more than one at a time.

Is Bitcoin mining available to general public, as Ethereum is?
If so, can someone point me to the instructions. I couldn't find any.

It's available for everyone. But it's like manufacturing cars. You can assemble one for fun at home but is only profitable to the industries.

That guy doesn't know what he is talking about.  Mining is profitable to lots of home/small scale miners.  You are in the wrong section of this forum though.  If you want to know specifically about mining BTC, go to the bitcoin mining section.  This section is for fucking altcoins dogg.  Just don't create anymore threads like this one.

But ... If you ever thought btc mining was not open to the general public, you have a lot of fucking research to do, before you start mining.

Start by asking Siri or Alexa and begin your venture into the rabbit hole.  Read this forum until your eyes are bloodshot every day for the next 2-4 weeks.  When your eyes get too bloodshot to read any longer in a given day, listen to crypto content.  Come back and begin asking legit questions to clarify what you don't completely understand about what you've read.

Sure ... Here are the instructions ... Read, Listen, Read, Listen, Read, Listen, Read, Listen,  ... Come up with a plan of action ... Read, Listen, Read, Listen, Read, Listen, Read, Listen ... Change your plan of action and implement your new plan of action.  Read, Listen, Read, Listen, Read, Listen, Read, Listen.

A little more of ... Read, Listen, Read, Listen, Read, Listen, Read, Listen, Read, Listen, .... Make some changes based on your findings.

And there is more ... Read, Listen, Read, Listen, Read, Listen, Read, Listen, Read, Listen, .... Do that over and over and over and over again.

Congratulations!!!  You made it!!!  You are now a crypto miner.

Is there any work on when a new batch of Vega’s will be available?  I can’t find these stinking things anywhere.

New models are coming.  Sapphire has a nice 3 fan version that ressembles the FURY they had a while back.  But until those get on the market....there wont be any for sale methinks.  And when they do...profitability is really good so they will fly off the virtual shelves.

I've had 6 Vega 56's on back order with B&H since November 29th.  An announcement was made around the 15th of December that the Nitro cards were shipped to retailers, but I haven't heard of them being sold anywhere yet.
1228  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PSU Question on: December 28, 2017, 01:51:36 PM
Odd, I've never seen an "official EVGA" 8-pin to dual 8-pin adapter on any of my G2 series supplies - was that a specific thing to the 1000 watt model perhaps?
Their dual cables are NORMALLY one 6+2 and one 6 on the VGA end.

Mine are actually GQ's, not G2's, but I bought (4) 1000W units last month and they each came with (4) 8-pin to dual 8-pin (6+2) cables.

Not sure if it was specific to the 1000W model, but I know the 750W and 850W models do not come with them, because I have some of each of those.
1229  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PSU advice needed on: December 28, 2017, 03:42:18 AM
what mobo  an eight slot riser free?

or some riser setup?

Phillip is the man, so whatever he says is what I would consider doing.  Personally, I would go with an 850W or a 1000W providing that you are able to connect everything and have close to equal power draw.  You can be equal on the cards, but you still have to power everything else.
1230  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GTX 1080 Ti vs GTX 1070? on: December 28, 2017, 03:19:17 AM
Compare a 1070ti to a 1080ti, not a 1070 to a 1080ti.  Jezzus.
1231  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PSU advice needed on: December 28, 2017, 03:13:42 AM
You could have just got (2) 1000W psu's and been done with it.  I don't like mixing and matching.  Get two of the same.  Hopefully you'll be sub 150w/card after tweaking though, so you could probably go with (2) 850W psu's.  Just do the math and figure out how you're going to connect each gpu to the psu.  I'm running into the same problems trying to downgrade from (2) 1000W psu's on a six gpu 1070ti rig (each gpu requires two 8 pins) that is only pulling 820W at the wall.

I have rigs running on 8 pin to dual 8 pin cables that are authentic evga cables with no issues.  Can't get those anywhere that I've found, so I've ordered some splitters from Amazon that have good reviews.  Can't wait to test those out, but you need spare single 8 pin cables for those ... I have a ton, but you may not.
1232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PSU Question on: December 27, 2017, 11:51:09 PM
NO.

According to EVGA, they can't be used for VGA power.

According to my LOOKING at them on one of my EVGA G2 power supplies, they have a different connector - the keying is completely different.

It SHOULD be possible to use one with an "8-pin CPU to PCI-E 8-pin" adapter cable though.

I wish I could find those 8pin to Dual 8pin (6+2) that the 1000W G2's come with.  Those are working just fine with both my Vega 56 rig and 1070ti FTW2 rig.  I'm building another 1070ti rig, but I'm looking to use two 750W or two 850W G2's, since these 1070ti rigs are only 820W at the wall.  Apparently EVGA doesn't sell them unless you want to buy the entire set of cables for nearly $100.  Might as well buy two 1000W G2's at that point.  I guess my other option is using two of the single 8 pins to 8 pins that I have a ton extra of with a splitter, right?  I'd rather buy authentic EVGA cables though.

Yes, mine are great.
1234  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Recommended riser cards ? on: December 27, 2017, 06:27:16 PM

Those are the ones I use too.  I've built two 6-gpu rigs with them.
1235  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / PSU Question on: December 27, 2017, 02:57:04 PM
Can the CPU1 and CPU2 on a EVGA 750W Gold PSU be used to supply power to a GPU?  Are they the same as the VGA's?
1236  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How start Mining? on: December 27, 2017, 12:30:04 AM
Please don't if you have not started already. It will eat up lot of electricity and Bitcoin have to explore other option very soon to change it. And please have a look at the climate conditions in the region you are in, if it's average is above ~25 degrees then forget it.

I understand the reasoning behind your 25C degree comment but on the other hand, isnt the majority of mining rigs located in such locations in INdia and China?

Don't listen to that guy.  He has no idea what the fuck he is talking about.  Bitcoin can't even be mined with a gpu these days, so in terms of gpu mining, it doesn't matter.  You are not mining bitcoin anyway.

Yes, a six gpu mining rig will eat up a lot of electricity, but that isn't a reason to not mine.  You need to figure out what you want to mine, how much your electricity costs, what the cost of your rig per month will be in electricity, and what you'll make from mining the coin you want to mine.  You also want to total up what it will cost you to build the rig and figure out how long it will take to pay for itself.  Once you have those variables, you can decide for yourself, if you will make enough money or not.

And it doesn't matter where you live or what the climate is.  If you have proper cooling and ventilation, it can be 90C outside and it won't matter.  You are not mining outdoors for fucks sake.
1237  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU Mining Strategies on: December 27, 2017, 12:19:23 AM
I was mining XMR on my Vega 56 rig.  I sold the XMR that I had mined and I'm holding it in BTC at the moment.  I'm really curious to see what ETN does.  My Vega rig mines a ton of it compared to what my 1070ti rig does with ZEC.  My only advice is do your own research and make decisons based on that.  Don't do something just because someone on a forum says it's a good idea with no explanation.

With all of that in mind, you're making money with ZEC even if you cash it out to USD or whatever on a weekly basis at current exchange rates.  At some point, you have to take some profit to go towards the cost of the rig, but it's very temping to leave it in other crypto's that you like.  Whatever you do, do it based on your own research.

use a 1 to 4 adapter to quadruple the PCIe slots on your mobo

https://imgur.com/wxpCHDu

You have three open slots there.  Why aren't you using them?
1239  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Confused about PCIe slots and multiple GPUs on: December 26, 2017, 09:07:27 PM
Hi all,

I'm pretty new to mining. I was thinking of setting up a hybrid mining/workstation using two GTX 1060 GPUs. Most of the motherboards I'm looking at (like this one: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/X370-GAMING-PLUS/Specification) feature two full-sized x16 PCIe connections, but the motherboard specs say that they function as either x16 (if using one GPU) or x8/x8 (if using two GPUs). Does not being able to run them at x16/x16 matter for hash rates? If not then could I potentially use another Gen2 slot for another GPU (even though it's an x4)?

Let me know if this makes any sense.

It's not going to matter.  That board has six pcie slots and you could use all six of them for mining, if you wanted to.  It makes no difference as far as your hash rates if the gpu is in a x16 slot or not.  The boards I use only have (2) x16 slots and I use all six slots on the board for mining gpu's.

I just completed my first rig a few days ago. I am curious about everyone's mining strategies. Do you mine for maximum amount of profit each day with the intent to cash out frequently? Or do you accept less profit to mine specific coins to hold that you believe will rise in price over time?

I am running 6 gtx 1070's. I tried profit switching with awesome miner and wasn't happy with the results. I'm sure I could have dialed the settings in better with more effort but I decided to try something different. For the past 24 hours I've decided to mine ZenCash exlusively using dtsm. I am getting roughly 2700 sol/s across all 6 gpu's. That came out to about $20 bucks for 24 hours.

Could I be doing better profit wise?

What does your gpu mining strategy consist of?

I'm mining zec as well on my Nvidia rig that consists of six 1070ti's.  A little over 3000 sol/s.  I don't cash out daily or anything.  I've never mined zec before and I'm only a few days into it, so I'm just watching the price and reading as much about zec that I can.  I'll wait a week or two and then make a decision on how I want to handle it.
