Yeah most of those companies need to verify identity.  I've had to take a picture of myself holding my ID for some exchanges.

You have a lot more thinking to do, my friend.
1243  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How do you get Internet to your mining rigs? on: December 26, 2017, 04:08:47 AM
Classic wisdom is hardwire FTW.   That being said its not always practical.

I love the idea of wireless so much and always have, I just don't trust it for stability.  Sometimes it works great, other times not so much.  I have a wifi security camera system that was horrible before I got a decent wifi router.  Now it's pretty much never offline.  In that case, it wasn't very practical for me to run ethernet to every single camera in and outside of my house.

In the case of running ethernet to one location where it currently doesn't exist, I'd just take the time to do it.  Make one cable run to a switch in your mining room.  Depending on the location of the router and the location of your mining room, it may not be super easy, but I'm happy that I made the choice to do it.
1244  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How do you get Internet to your mining rigs? on: December 26, 2017, 03:56:25 AM
Both of my rigs are connected directly to my router but I was planning on moving them to another room.  Do you use a wifi usb stick, direct connection to modem or use an ethernet adapter that runs through your electrical wiring?

Others have had sucess with the ethernet over electrical wiring adapters and I thought I would give it a shot.  I didn't go cheap on them and ended up sending them back to Amazon the next day.  I have no idea why, but every time I plugged them in, my wifi security camera system starting going crazy.  In the end, it wasn't worth it to me to spend the time screwing around with them.  I'll admit, I didn't put much effort into trying to get them to work properly, because I kept thinking that I spent $100 on them when I could have just bought a 75ft cat6 cable for $20.  Sure running the cable might take an hour or so if you have to drill multiple holes to get it where you want it, but it's one less thing to troubleshoot when you have issues.

I personally would not use wifi, but I'm sure some people are doing it and I'm sure it is working just fine for them.  Hardwire is the way to go for anything, if you want stability, in my opinion.

I just ended up buying a 75ft cat6 cable and running it through the ceiling in my office (where my router is) to the room upstairs where my mining rigs go to live.  I have it plugged into one of the four ports on my router and into a gigabit switch in my mining rig room.

once I install windows again the blockchain is what I'm going to use. I was using the brand new drivers that came out.
Damn the rx 580 price is crazy high now. I was going to order two more tonight but there 450 a card right now.

I don't think you really need to wipe your hdd and re-install the OS.  Use DDU in safe mode and remove the current drivers.  And then try the Aug-23 block chain drivers.  You did make sure that Z270 has the latest bios, correct?
1247  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 6 card rx 580 rig only shows 4 cards. any idea's on: December 25, 2017, 05:16:18 AM
I give up. I'm just going to run two 4 card rx 580's and that will be he only amd miners I have. Nvidia drivers and cards just work. Even in the new amd adrenalin drivers I have no clue if the compute mode really works or not. U put card one in compute but the other cards will not switch over to compute mode in there settings. They just switch back to graphics.

I'm using the AUG-23 blockchain drivers all my AMD rig.  Is that what you're using?
1248  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Remote Hashrate Monitoring? EWBF's CUDA Zcash Miner on: December 25, 2017, 04:05:34 AM
Is there a remote hashrate monitor in the EWBF's CUDA Zcash miner like there is in XMR-STAK?  I'm failing to figure out how to configure it if there is.
1249  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can't mine any close to whattomine says on: December 25, 2017, 03:41:20 AM
I've been mining for about 3 months, I have 20 mining rigs, using Minerstat

the profit switching is amazing, with 20rigs, switching to some shitcoin instanly and selling it using bittrex auto sell features.

My issue is that on whattomine and on minerstat it says that I should be mining for about 500$ a day when i'm barely making 300$, this has been going on for a long time. I'm using all the popular pools.. selling fast, heavy mining power. Where should I look to fix this "leak" ?

I heard that PPLNS pool could be a problem, so I switched all my pool to PROP pools, i'm looking into Awesome Miner to test if I get the same issue.

Should I drop the profit switcher and only mine the same coins afor a weeks, PIRL + LBRY has been pretty profitable for a while now.

Are all of the rigs identical?  Are they all producing the same profit per day per rig?  Is hashrate per rig what it should be?  One by one, start looking at figures for each rig and see if some may not be performing as well as others.  You know the numbers you should be getting, so figure out if you are actually getting those numbers.

So you've swapped cards and risers in and out and made sure all of the cards and all of the risers are functional on their own, correct?  I had a similiar issue with one rig that didn't have up to date bios.  I also had one card missing in device manager the other night on a Nvidia rig build and finally figured out the usb cable to the riser was not seated properly.

If they all function one by one, make sure all of your pcie mb slots are functioning as well.  Check your motherboard bios first though, if you haven't already.  It needs to be up to date.

Yes, you should get video out of the card that's in the #1 pcie slot whether you are using a riser or not.  I think you can force igpu in the bios with that board though, so you can just use that while you're configuring the rig.  I have two rigs running with that board and one won't boot without the dummy hdmi in the card plugged into #1 pcie slot, but I found a setting in the bios to force igpu on the second one.  I just haven't had time to shut the other one down and try that same setting in the bios on my first rig.

...it would be worth building a mining rig using 6x 1050 TIs atm or if it isn't worth it anymore? (To mine ETH, ZEC and XMR)

I've heard it isn't worth it because of how the difficulty increases in mining, that it wouldn't really "pay itself off", and I've also heard that it would pay itself off and I could easily sell the cards in the case that it would not be profittable mining anymore.

Worth it  , not worth it , profitable , not profitable , , return of your investment... there is a easy answer for your question from another topic  :

I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY NEWBIES KEEP ASKING THE SAME QUESTION " ITS TO LATE TO START MINING , IT IS STILL PROFITABLE ?"

No one can tell you !
Always going to be a 2 group of ppl who telling you it's ok go for it , or dont bc you just wasting ur money !
You have to make a decision for yourself !
Do your own research !
No one can tell you for sure what's going to happen with cryptocurrency !
No one can tell you it's going to be profitable for you or not !
No one can tell you how much profit you going to be able to make ! ( if you can make any at all )
No one can tell you the ROI ( return of investment) time !
None of those calculators you are seeing on the web can tell you what's coming tomorrow , months later or 6 months later !
Those calculators telling you about today , at that moment when you typing in your information !
It's little bit of gambling , you must to decide you want to play on the lottery or not  Grin

My question is more on the lines of if it is worth buying the 1050 TIs right now, or waiting for a future release as I don't know when the difficulty will increase and such.  I definitely do believe there is profit to be made, I'm just not quite sure what I should be doing, whether I should be waiting right now or getting started.

If I were building new rigs at the moment (which I am), I wouldn't be buying 1050ti's for them.  What do you mean waiting for future releases?  There are newer cards out there already.
1253  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Choosing a GPU on: December 24, 2017, 07:05:22 PM
I just picked up six EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti FTW2's a couple of days ago.  I'm getting 500 sol/s per card @ 110W per card mining zec after tweaking with afterburner.  Others are getting exactly the same results with the FTW2's.  Based on what I've read on here and test results from others, I stay away from Gigbyte and Zotac's.
1254  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: multiple pcie splitter on: December 24, 2017, 04:26:17 AM

I think 1 x 1 is optimal.  Buy all of these things that you want ... to test.  Don't use them in rigs that you want to run 24/7 without issues right off the bat.  That is all that I'm saying.  The fact that widespread adoption hasn't happened just yet, leads me to believe that further testing needs to be done.  I may eventually buy some myself to use on a test rig, but sometimes your time and money is better spent in other ways.

Personally, I'd rather be testing a riserless 8 gpu rig with the board that Vosk has, but I see the gpu spacing issues.  I have a strong feeling that may eventually present a problem, so until I have the time to test it myself or see a lot of positive results from others, it isn't part of my expansion plan.

So it looks like the price of the 1070s is the same price as 1070 Ti.  Is there any more that's better than the others or any that I should just avoid?

Read through this entire thread and there is another 1070ti thread that I've been watching too.  From what I have gathered, the fans are not up to par on the Gigabyte 1070ti's and I'm also staying away from the Zotac cards.  Vosk has some Zotac rigs running, but I think he said that they were not performing as well as others that he has tested.  That may just be the mini's ... Can't remember.  There is also some question about the fans in the Zotac cards.  That could also just be the mini's.  Not 100% certain.  But seriously read through these threads.  There is a wealth of information on 1070ti's.

When you're calculating 110w per card, is that with everything else factored in and measuring power consumption at the wall?

110 watts as set as the power limit under Linux using Nvidia-settings, or reported by nvidia-smi in either Linux or Windows (or calculated from the %TDP setting in something like Afterburner).

At the wall will vary more due to power supply efficiency curves.

Thank you! Thank you!  nvidia-smi is showing 107W-110W on each gpu.

Oh well in that case, I guess I'm way lower than I think.

It's looking like in order to keep myself right at 500 sol/s, I'm using 135W per card at the wall.  That's with +200 core clock and +750 memory clock.  I cut the fans back to 50%.  All my temps are still below 60c.

This thing is a hell of a lot quieter and cooler than my vega rig mining etn.
1259  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Are 1070 TI's the next best GPU for mining? 4.7 sols per watt on: December 23, 2017, 07:42:56 PM
Good to know.  I have some EVGA FTW2 1070ti's coming on Friday ... (Hopefully) ... They are supposed to ship today.  I had some ZOTAC's on backorder and ended up cancelling those.  This will be my first NVIDIA rig build.
hopefully they rock! Our FTW2s have been our best 1070 TI, much better than the recent zotac 1070 TI mini's -- the ftw2 hashing 30-35 sols more w/ the same settings. The original zotac 1070 TI bought for testing performed well too though . . i sold that one xD

Hey Vosk,

I have my power down to 160W per card.  That's total power at the wall 960W divided by 6.  Power limit is set at 70%.  Core clock +200 and memory clock +700 on these FTW2's.  Averaging 525 sol/s per card.  When power was at 180W (80% limit in afterburner), I was getting a few more sol/s on each card.  I've never overclocked a gpu in my life, so this is making me slightly nervous ... Lol.  I'm not sure if I should keep going or not.  What do you have your FTW2's at?

Another question ... 3 of my FTW2's only have one fan running and I'm not sure why.  Any ideas?  I have my fan speed set to 80% in afterburner.  It's the back fan that's not running on all 3.

And there's more ...

I just set my fan speed to auto, and then back to 80% ... Now the only card with the back fan not running is the card on the end of my open air frame.  60 seconds later ... I have 3 back fans not running, but they aren't the same 3 cards as the first time.  Lol ... This is weird.  Do they not run constantly?  They'll just turn on when a certain temp is hit?

My FTW2 Hold about 500-505 Sol's each at +200 core and +750 mem. Watts are 110 per card, fan set minimum 50%, and target temp of 70C. They stay around 60-65C.

Also, I'm pretty sure only one fan will run if temp is not high enough to justify both running. Right now my three are siting at 59C 62C and 60C, only one has the second fan running. My guess is that it's the one at 62C. And as I type this my middle ones second fan kicked on. So don't worry about the fan not working if you have one working.

EDIT: I would try to get down to a lower watt setting. While an extra 25 Sol/s per card seems nice, it's only netting about .10 more a day after power consumption, .25 before.

When you're calculating 110w per card, is that with everything else factored in and measuring power consumption at the wall?
1260  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: multiple pcie splitter on: December 23, 2017, 07:01:49 PM
thanks for your take on it. I know your´e right ! besides that it was "free" its basically the mainboard from my ex´s pc that she left here like any other stuff she didnt needed anymore. as it was an expesnvie relation it´d be great lulz if this board manages to be the heart of a new mining rig. (im using Asrock H110 in my 2 others)  Her ex PC would do at least something productive to pay back stuff which would be hilarious. But if its unstable i´ll ditch it. Just to clarify a bit of the "motivation"  Cool beside a mere lower invest

Yeah if its unstable just ditch it, just like your ex. Lol.

But seriously, i've been using a 4x PCIE splitter on one of my old motherboards and it works fine and stable. I guess its a case to case basis depending on the specific board or chipset. If you are able to get it work then you'll be able to build a cheaper rig. I guess the IF is a big question here and that leaves you to gamble whether or not to buy a PCIE splitter and risk wasting money or just get a new mobo directly.

The knucklehead that said he's just asking for trouble I'm willing to bet has never even used one, he's just spreading FUD and his opinion of what MIGHT happen.

I've heard of many others like you that don't have any issues with their expanders - I'll be buying a few of them just for shits n giggles to play around with, why not.

It's pretty much like how everyone was screaming "don't use risers, they're terrible, find boards that you can do 3 onboard on, risers will fail, rigs will magically disappear into thin air."

I built the 3 card rigs, they were fine. but I decided go and build on risers. Bam. Not a single problem. None.

Sure.  Buy a few to play around with, but consider it playing around.  My point was to not expect stability from trying to split what wasn't designed to be split.  More than a few people have told me they have caused them problems, so why risk it?  My preference is stability for rigs that I want running 24/7.
