1261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin demonstrates how ridiculous Bitcoin is on: October 28, 2013, 01:59:45 PM
Litecoin isn't a "scam" and the fact that (an unknown) someone claims it so doesn't have any relevance on Bitcoin.

Litecoin simply lacks innovation and has no purpose.  It is too much a copy of Bitcoin to every grow to anything rivaling its big brother.

It has no purpose aside from being internet money, which is exactly the same purpose as bitcoin has.

Litecoin has value because me and a lot of other people have them and are not spending them, and they are difficult to generate.
1262  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HashFast announces specs for new ASIC: 400GH/s on: October 24, 2013, 08:17:58 PM
If hash fast doesn't begin shipping in a couple weeks, they may as well pull out of the game and refund customers before they incur further losses trying to play catch up with KnC.

This is game time for HashFast, and what we see in the next few weeks will make or break the company.  I hope they're prepared not to sleep for a while.  They should be on a plane somewhere today finding out why their substrates won't be ready on time and what they can do to rectify the situation.

Comparisons to BFL aren't valid because that company is already dead in the water. HF may soon be.
1263  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASIC Manufacturers, one hit wonders? on: October 24, 2013, 08:11:59 PM
Not really, but at the end of the day only one or two will prevail and the rest will go under.   This is a cut throat industry and at 2014 we will have the bitcoin equivalents of AMD/nVidia or AMD/Intel remaining, with the rest driving their families into bankruptcy.

At the moment it looks like KnC and Bitfury (if the latter shrinks to 28 nm it will wreck KnC in efficiency), but who knows?

anyone one receive their 400gh/s unit set for October delivery yet?

Nyet... Dave likely still has no m boards
1265  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MC2 ("Netcoin"): A cryptocurrency based on a hybrid PoW/PoS system on: October 24, 2013, 06:40:33 PM
Everyone close to the project is still active. If new ideas that seem useful come to the forefront, they will be added.  There are some potential devs that we are actively talking to.  It's hard to find people seriously dedicated to putting in all the effort required.

Alt coins are not comfortable to SHA256 mining.
1266  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales now open ***full prototype pics*** on: October 23, 2013, 12:18:19 PM
Still nada over here Sad I'm starting to get worried that the diff will be 600m + by the time the boards arrive
1267  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GUIMiner-scrypt: A GUIMiner fork for mining scrypt chains on: October 22, 2013, 11:20:50 AM
Is there plans to release a newer version, ie. v0.05 or higher? It would be great if there was an option to OC and change voltage. Maybe a more improved version of the GUI with 64-bit.

Does voltage control work reliably through CGMiner now?  The AMD ADL was broken for a while with it

I still haven't heard back from Samantha about employment... I'll probably forward my resume to Amy later today and try and figure out what's going on and if they still want me for support.

what type of support?  local in TX? or just comment jockey?

Comment jockey, although I also offered to go down to CIARA to report back on the progress on the boards and assembly there
1269  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales now open ***full prototype pics*** on: October 21, 2013, 07:50:10 PM
How far along is shipping for October deliveries? Is there a thread here tracking them? What order number are they up to?

Order ID: #3XX Status: BTC Paid

I'm hoping to be employed by them shortly, so, as in the other thread, I'll try to get you guys answers ASAP.

Yes, I'm here

We're still looking for a lead dev, there's someone _ingsoc wants me to meet soon

Although 0.4 is considered more or less "final" at this point, I've been musing over some changes, namely,

1.) Forking primecoin and using that hash/prime algorithm for mining.
2.) Establishing a peer-to-peer marketplace within the chain itself for people to exchange coins and goods.  I have a pretty good idea how to do this after thinking about it for the past two weeks, and I'll probably write something up soon.

If you're interested in being a lead dev, just e-mail me at dev.mc2@gmail.com with a resume + CV, I'd love to hear from you
1277  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: How Much is a 50 GH/s BFL Bitcoin Miner Worth on: October 13, 2013, 03:35:46 PM
Whatever you can get somebody to pay for it really..

exactly!!

However some people might use it to mine other coins so your calculation does not take this into account. Also what is the life expectancy on the device? Will they really last 2 yrs of continuous use? But yes mining is becoming a mugs game...so much for the decentralized network. If btc is worth $500/usd in 2 yrs then you would easily be in profit.

I already 100% ROI'd on my Block Erupter USBs by mining and holding PPC with them before the price doubled. Tongue  The "will never ROI" statements are silly to me.

I'm close to Montreal...  if HashFast wants me to, I can go visit and get pictures etc sometime during the prototyping/manufacturing process as a trusted forum member.
1279  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Zerocoin is like Bitcoin, Except It's Actually Anonymous on: October 11, 2013, 03:51:47 PM
Zerocoin is like bitcoin with an inbuilt anonymizing function. It works kind of like this:

Put lots of other peoples money and your money of the same denomination in a bin
Mix the money up
Reach in an grab an equivalent amount of money, which is now a random person's money

Now no one can tell where the original money came from.

They already have similar services for bitcoins for a fee:

I just had an idea of putting UV LEDs on my BEs just for fun.

EDIT: Ordered some.

Make sure they have shortwave so they can kill bacteria and cause melanoma.
