Actually it means that this thread is good and everyone is free to participate in the discussion. Never underestimate the value of the exposure we get with this thread.
BitCoinTalk is an "open door to the world" for DGB.
Not just for us, but for newcomers as well.
It's a two way street, and it happens here.
Just as important as twitter, or FaceBook, or what have you, if not more so.
It can't be overstated.

I don't like those reddit comments at all. Combined with the leveraging encouraged and made possible by Poloniex, I'd say we've got a huge red flag that only gets redder when you look at the concentration of trading activity. http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/markets/show/poloniex If I had anything there I'd be getting it off immediately. |

It would be great to have all the data available from the network itself, to exchange trading, in dozens of charts.

This is a priority pending project IMHO.
I think this would be an awesome project to do. I am not very knowledgeable on front end development etc. so I would have to use something like insight which would make it very similar to digiexplorer. The only thing I could then add on top of digiexplorer is what I have already mentioned; which would be network analysis, a stats page like blockchain.info has for bitcoin and then extend that by adding an average price chart over multiple exchanges. Of course within this there is a lot of room for adding extra charts and visualizations (like digimap) and it could evolve into the place to get your digi-info. I've already thought of a potential name: DigiNetwork? Hahaha I don't know if this is true or not but digiexplorer seems dead and isn't being fully developed so I would be starting a similar resource with the added features I've mentioned (btw if the digiexplorer dev is reading this I would much prefer to collaborate with you then take on the challenge by myself so drop me a PM if your interested). +1 Talking about a name . . . So, what's in a name? Just about everything. That's a real good one for under the radar discussion. A very important item indeed. I'll mull over it and give it some thought and PM you what comes to mind sometime soon. Best of luck and here's to this being just the beginning of something [else that's also] big! |

I was wondering, and I am asking this principally to the people involved with the DGB dev team, if there is a need for an advanced scientific python developer? I doubt my skills are tuned towards most of what you guys do (I'm not a programmer I am a theoretical physicist) but I would like to help out over summer if I can, and get more involved with the community.
I've sent out a PM to Jared on the official digiforum but he hasn't responded yet (completely understandable, he's a busy guy).
If someone related to the DGB team can send me a PM either on here or on the digiforum (user: alaniz) with more info/suggestions I'd be delighted to check out whether I can help with any of the things you guys are currently working on.
good on ya bitkapp, that's the spirit!  Loads of Raspberry Pi digibyte applications would probably require your kind of skills! Haha true! NFC + Raspberry Pi = DigiByte payment station? I think hardware applications are probably more suited when digibyte becomes slightly more established. I was referring more to data analytics, statistical analysis, basically anything mathsy which would be useful to apply to DGB. Again I have to stress I am in no way a crypto expert or anything of the sort but I am assuming that an advanced mathematician who knows how to program in python and is familiar with network analysis (not computer networks specifically but networks in general i.e. PageRank etc.), statistics etc. could potentially come in handy? Again I am just putting this out there and I have a few other projects that I could work on over summer so if you guys are not interested that's fine. On the other hand if you guys think I could be useful in any way PM me and we can talk details. P.S. Just a very quick thought I had; maybe an index showing some measure of how "strong" the digibyte network is could potentially be useful to future adopters/merchants and would quantify how good the DGB network actually is. That's something on the line of what I'm thinking. Of course we already have DigiExplorer for blockchain info although I can already see some improvements/upgrades that could be done to DigiExplorer. I think network analysis could be something that people might be interested in. It would be awesome to be able to couple the information from the blockchain with esotericizm DigiMap idea to create a possible PageRank (or a modified PageRank) of all the nodes on the DGB network. If we could then create a map of all the nodes (i.e. DigiMap) and interconnections and put that along side some network analytics that could be something people within the community might be interested in and would be a piece of software that no other Crypto has (as far as I know). It would also quantify the robustness of the network and could attract more people and merchants. A robust network = a reliable network and that could be something merchants value. As soon as I am done with my exams I will be posting a more concrete set of ideas on the DigiByte official forum and if there is genuine interest for this type of thing within the community I will start cracking away! If you guys can tell me whether the DGB team and the community at large might be interested in this I can start gauging whether something like this is worth doing. Tell me what you think! Hi guys, I recieved this message from esotericizm and i'm not sure whether to trust it. The problem i have is i sent all my digi's to an address created on dgbaddress.org, and i cant import the private key.
I followed what he said but the updated software does nothing when i run it. So i quickly disconnected from the internet and scanned and removed found viruses. Is this guy trustworthy? The digibytes are still in the wallet.
I'm the dev of digibit (among other things). My name *was* in the OP but it may have gotten removed when the OP was reformatted, I am listed in the team info page on the official digibyte website though http://digibyte.co/content/digibyte-team. I just noticed you hadn't logged in for a couple of days and wanted to make sure my post didn't get lost so I private messaged you instead I compiled that version of digibit from the source code specifically so that you would be able to import your private key. I'm not sure what version of the core client you are using but the issue should be fixed in the latest version. If you are running v3.0.3.1 and you're still unable to import your private keys please let us know so we can look into it. If it means anything here is the virus total report for the file I sent you. I've said DGB for some time now. Still is in my opinion. Incredibly undervalued considering where it's headed.

Also, by my calculations, when adding together the network hashrates for the 5 algorithms (and, of course, adjusting them to the same scrypt or SHA-256 equilvalents), DigiByte has the 6th highest total network hashrate! (And even if I'm off by a little, DGB is certainly in the top 10!) If that, coupled with the active community here on this board, is any indication of what is "decentralized and widely distributed", then, by those two measures, DigiByte must definitely be doing all the right things! What are the other top 5? BTC, UNO, BCX, DOGE, LTC, in that order. It depends on when you look, and you'd have to do a more thorough study with averages to really be precise. Of those that also compete for the top 10 and that are also listed on Cryptsy figure MZC, ZET, SYS and VIA. In terms of trading volumen, DGB is in the top 5 of that group ( http://coinmarketcap.com/ ). Superised there is no Dash (old dark coin), the difficulty is 4700. That's an oversight on my part. DASH is in the top 10, ahead of DGB - as probably are SYS and VIA too - after having gone back and looked at the realtime data a couple of times today, it looks more like DGB might be in 9th or so place . . . still Top Ten material though! |

I know i'm already old, but 35 is so close ....  16-35 sounds good. You can use it in discotheques as well! Their own personal DigiByte-token-system. Young people would really dig it! Don't expect anything from me on this. Marketing in general is my huge weakness. I'm only good for the question on this one.  Those ideas do look good, but again, I've got no idea. |
