Introducing DigiReport Ep.#1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnK6ofo6RX8

Going further back in time to earlier rounds of success we come across this. How long did this last for? Another real model of consistency that, unfortunately was a harbinger of things to come. Oh well. Now we've got round tables? How long will that last for?  Cheesy

And the list goes on and on. Trouble is that I'm bored. As I've said before to all you newcomers, you've got the entire history of DigiByte in this thread and if you're not taking the time to learn about what you're getting into, you've only got yourselves to blame.

Cheers,
302  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★★DigiByte|极特币★★[DGB]✔DigiByte Gaming - CS:GO, LoL, #DigiByteTip, DigiSpeed on: June 07, 2017, 09:12:36 AM
Hello Everyone,

Thank you all for your continued support. As stated many, many times we are in this for the long haul. While many people would like instant gratification and quick results this is the real world, things don't "go to the moon" without a lot of hard, consistent, committed work. We have a lot of work ahead of us, and many upcoming events. 2016 is going to be a big year for DigiByte.

For those new to DigiByte and cryptocurrencies it is important for you to read the following: http://www.digibyte.co/digibyte_legal_disclaimer

Quote
4. Investment risks

The investment in DigiByte can lead to loss of money over short or even long periods. The investors in DigiByte should expect prices to have large range fluctuations. The information published on the Website cannot guarantee that the investors in DigiByte would not lose money.

We also hate to disappoint people, but we do not control the price, the protocol or the network and we are also not active traders (no time). DigiByte is open source, decentralized and a free market. Right now speculation is driving the market, we are working to get away from this by providing real world utility and use cases. That is the only way to sustain the market long term. Unfortunately at the moment their are individuals working against this and even personally attacking members of our community and team in very inappropriate ways. This is very disappointing, but we will not be deterred and we will push forward.

We are publishing updates through all DigiByte social media portals. We also are planning a newsletter from DigiByte.co and we have set a target date for the first newsletter of April 18th. This newsletter will occur the 1st and second Monday of every month to give everyone consistent updates. In between we will post updates as appropriate.

As for the New York FinDEVr event, we have zero control over the video. This is the conference organizers and they have told us the video will be released here in the next few days: http://findevr.com/videos-container/

For those who think i'm on "vacation," not at all, sure I had some personal things to attend to, but still means 5 AM to 12 PM even after being away from my family, old life and everything I know for two years. There is a lot moving right now and through our previous events we have a lot of people looking at DigiByte and talking to us. We do not want to publicly detail anything until we have solid deals and information to pass on with real substance and solutions. As you all now rumors are rampant in this industry and we have no intention of misleading anyone and fueling a pump and dump.

As for the South Africa event we are still waiting for them to release the video but do not have a time frame. We have reached out asking them for an ETA.

We also pushed out an updated Android wallet, and we will be pushing out an updated DigiByte Gaming wallet here in the next week. The team has been hard at work upgrading several things. We are also hiring more people in HK. So if you are a blockchain programer please PM us.

Thanks again everyone for your continued support and lets keep things positive and moving forward. The strength of the DigiByte community is our ability to rise above "trolls," and other negative forces working against us for a quick buck.

Cheers,

-Jared

"A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work."

And the "oh, we're so sorry, there are things I can't control and I'm working so hard, poor old me, please believe me" post . . . ignoring the failures that are under DGB's direct control.

BTW, how did that newsletter work out?

Wanted to drop in and give everyone an update. We have been on the road non stop working to make things happen for DigiByte. Multiple cities, time zones and meetings. It starts wearing on you but we are very excited and motivated to make things happen for all of you who are a truly awesome community!

We have received a lot of messages on several platforms but have not had time to get back to everyone. We definitely value everyone's input and we will get back to you just give us a bit of leeway and time and we will try and answer some of these questions on here as well as news releases.

Let's keep the momentum rolling and make sure to keep doing whatever you feel you can to make DigiByte better each and every day. Remember this is a decentralized currency at the end of the day.

Cheers & thanks again for all your support!

So, how did all that globe trotting work out?

Introducing ★★DigiHash Easy Miner★★ Beta v1.0
Note: This is beta software that gets smarter & adapts (learns mining configs & hardware profiles) as time goes on
Many card profiles & configs will not be in the system today, but with your help will be their very soon

What is DigiHash Easy Miner?

DigiHash Easy Miner is software designed to make mining DigiByte on Windows with a CPU & GPU as simple as:

1) Download

2) Install digihash.exe
3) Enter DGB address from wallet & start mining on DigiHash.co

Works with AMD & NVIDIA cards & CPU's

Our goal is to begin bringing in many new users through some of the marketing campaigns we are planning with this software. We want to make DigiByte mining as simple and as easy to do as possible for a beginner.

How does it work?

DigiHash auto-detects your computers hardware (AMD, NVIDIA, CPU) & then connects to a central server to download the appropriate mining software and references the appropriate configuration and begins mining. All with one click of a button.

For the first few days & weeks most configurations for miners will not be optimized in the initial miners database on the server as their is literally thousands of combinations for hardware.

This is where we can use your help!

We need people today to download the miner & run it even if it does not mine properly for your specific card type. This is the only way we can gather the unique hardware identifier for your specific mining hardware. This is done automatically in the background and sent to the server.

From their we can start matching configs with hardware ID's over the next few weeks.

Please email dev@digibyte.co with your specific card model & manufacturer, the mining software & version you have optimized & the config you are using that gets the best results. There will also be a trace ID displayed you can report to us so we can confirm your hardware ID and config with.

Once the config is in the database it will work for everyone and help out bring new miners on board.

We also will be releasing a Wiki later today where you can also submit hardware configurations.

Future Upgrade Plans
Support for Linux & Mac OSX
ASIC support
Auto tuning widget & manual controls for intensity, threads etc
Facelift

Remember this is a version 1 beta built entirely from the ground up for DigiByte. Be patient as it will get smarter as time goes on & a user will not have to keep downloading new versions.

Cheers!

Note: This software is not required, nor will it ever be required to mine DigiByte. This is simply a tool to make it easier for beginners.

What happened to this?
306  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★★DigiByte|极特币★★[DGB]✔ DigiSync v6.14.2 - DigiSpeed - Segwit -DiguSign on: June 07, 2017, 08:51:22 AM
The Citi hype is great and all but www.digibytemarket.com is taking DGB and (afaict) not giving the products ordered.   Angry

Not only is the core functionality broken, the Zendesk Help feature is broken as well, so I can't even complain to the management!  Cheesy

Doesn't look good for DGB when the Market and Gaming platforms have been abandoned yet persist in harmful failure modes.   Undecided

The platforms are not abandoned. At the moment we have limited resources but we are working to bring more on board, however, this does take time. Please let us check into this. Thank you, everyone, for your patience.

I don't mind waiting but since DigibyteMarket is apparently stealing customers' money you should immediately verify whether it's working or not, and if it's really broken, shut it down.

Leaving DigibyteMarket up and accepting payments while it does not provide order fulfillment (NOR EVEN HAVE A FUNCTIONAL FUCKING ZENDESK HELP THINGY!!!11!) is the definition of abandoned.  Even contacting info@digibytemarket.com failed to provide so much as an automatic message received acknowledgement, which is completely unprofessional.

It is dishonest to claim otherwise and spin this problem as "oh gee sorry we're just so busy please judge us by our intentions not real world outcomes, the platform just seems and acts abandoned but it's not Really Abandoned (for some definition of Really Abandoned incongruous with Functionally Abandoned)."

I made purchases using two different email address, just to make sure the problem wasn't on my end.  I paid $10 worth of Digibyte twice and got nothing in return.

I want the new Caitlyn skin, not just the satisfaction of seeing how impressively quickly DGB tx are broadcast and confirmed.   Cheesy

Good to see you post over here iCEBREAKER. Credible, independent thinkers are in short supply here. The problem of insisting on keeping alive half baked, poorly functioning, poorly maintained products in combination with the "sorry we're too busy" excuse that you point out is something that I have also pointed out countless times. It's not just the DigibyteMarket! The gaming wallet, the Android wallet, the attempts at DiguSign (last year is was up for around 6 months in spite of the fact that you could not search and find the "document" you previously uploaded, and now it's looking very polished BUT there is no privacy at all to what you upload - OMG, everything's stored on the DiguSign servers!), DibiBytetip (which now takes you here: http://digibytetip.com/ ) were all embarrassments and it was impossible to get the "team" to address the issues regardless of whether it was to simply depreciate or fix. The only thing I will say that is positive is that the core wallet and coin technologies are sound - but both of those come from other people and are basically copy and paste. There are lots of possible conclusions that can be drawn from this, and I don't think any can be spun positively. The most basic of all conclusions is that the base technology is in place, and that's about it, and maybe that isn't even that special. I made some super human efforts to try and steer the founder in a more positive direction, even offering him many very interesting ideas (all for free, expect one extremely interesting idea that I wasn't interesting in "giving away" to the "unworthy") all extremely well documented and supported with rational arguments, and they were all rejected, most of the time out-of-hand, and it didn't matter whether I was presenting them as a kindly business associate (1st attempts based on what might be a best practice strategy), simulated feedback from an appalled customer (2nd attempts based on how end users would view things), news critic (3rd attempts based on how negative press would impact), knowledgeable authority on the subject (4th attempts, in the hopes of finally breaking through, based on in your face criticism such as asking where his self-respect was and why he allowed so much crap to weigh down the "project"), etc. My final, executive summary, conclusion is that there is no room here for critical analysis and independent thinkers with respect to meeting and satisfying end users' needs - and that could possibly be because they're only concerned with their own self-interests (which ironically are not being served well either, so that's not much of a possibility), incompetence, or who knows. The bottom line are the facts, and the facts are a series of failures that don't seem to bother the founder in the least.  Huh

Keep up the good work my friend. It's not going to be an easy job to bring some self-respect and credibility to crypto, and I admire the example you're setting.

Cheers,

Very encouraging I will admit.  Grin

But, is it the community's responsibility to search these things out? Is efficient information dissemination too much to ask for? And doesn't that responsibility really lie with the dev team?

Just sayin'. Thanks for the link. Made for a nice lift of spirits.

There are many means of disseminating information that aren't exclusive to BTCtalk.

Not only is there Reddit, slack, etc., but Charlie is also incredibly active on twitter, for example.

Efficient information dissemination for me starts with a little coordination. Is it that hard to cut and paste in the half a dozen places where you've got day to day exposure and participation? The cost is nil these days. Why the reluctance? Is there any justifiable reason whatever for not coordinating inportant releases of information? Any reason at all for not doing the rounds and covering the bases? Forgive me for saying so, but I find comments like yours simply incredible.

I did see Charlie on twitter today BTW. I responded to his hug campaign with a big  Huh  And I do agree that with that kind of stuff, we can safely say that NOT reposting it in every media available is the correct thing to do . . . but this is not about that kind of social interaction - it's about dealing seriously with the serious. We can tell the difference, right?
309  Economy / Speculation / Re: What’s your favorite crypto worth? on: June 05, 2017, 09:40:47 PM
I hold mostly Bitcoin. But if you must buy an Alt Coin, I would suggest Bytecoin (BCN). Unlike Ripple and Ethereum, Bytecoin is totally decentralized. No one can see your balance. Read the white paper; it has a lot going on for it. It's roughly $0.003 USD per Bytecoin at the moment.

What would be its BTC ratio adjusted value? The technology being used? Product implementation? Dev team composition? Reputation? And how do you think all that affects its current pricing?

One thing I see that severely affects its appreciation potential can be investigated using this google search as a jumping off point.

https://www.google.com/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=84fcVezNLceDUNSdq-AM&gws_rd=ssl,cr&fg=1#q=bytecoin+scam

Can you give us some well thought out and balanced analysis for BCN?

At the moment the BCN/BTC ratio is 0.00000103. Its very cheap at the moment.
Heres a link to their dev tam page:
https://bytecoin.org/teto-team/

I can also type in "Bitcoin scam" or "Cryptocurrency scam" or "moon landing scam" in Google search and get a jumping off point too. Buy it or not, I dont care. I'm into bitcoin but if people must buy Alts I would rather people invest in coins that have the core value that Bitcoin started out with.

Heres a few things it has going for it:
Its possible to get zero fee transactions. The way bytecoin is setup, being anonymous is easier than bitcoin (we can get technical talking about Ring Signatures and CryptoNote but I think that discussion is for another thread). I think untraceable transactions is a really big benefit to Bytecoin. Poloniex and other exchanges have started trading it; do what you will with that info. Monero split from Bytecoin using a lot of the same framework. I think Bytecoin has a lot of potential in the under served cryptocurrency needed markets. Its SHA256 which means when your bitcoin ASIC mining rig is obsolete, you can re-purpose it to mine bytecoin. I'm sure theres a few more advantages.

I'm not trying to get people to buy Alts, I just want people to stay away from corporate coins and ICO's.

You've dealt with the technology rather well. Unfortunately that's only a small part of the story these days. The days of great ideas are long gone. As I see it, we're now in the implementation, do or die phase.

In any event, in order to well advise, you really need to look at all the key fundamental aspects of the coin as possible. Otherwise you're sharing something limited in value - as not being complete - and subject to being seen as biased.

And my posting of the google search link was not flippant: it leads to real issues that are difficult, if not impossible to explain away. That should not ruffle your feathers too much though - look at how the DASH crowd so easily deals with theirs by simply saying it's not important to them. Not sure where that leaves the rest of their analysis in terms of credibility though.

... That was then and this is now. Segwit's been activated since April. What's happened since? One hell of a spring break in Florida?

Resting on your laurels will get you killed in this business.

You can bet that someone, somewhere, is busting their butt to take your market away, and we all know just how nasty folks are in this space - the more it hurts you, the more they'll laugh.

I would agree with you here. Time is of the essence. Investors like to know that their investment continues to be safe. A time line and regular updates on progress helps. For instance, how far away is Lightning Networks and the other things it facilitates? Weeks? Months? A year? The answer is crucial from an investment perspective. Charlie, as you have pointed out, seems to have other distractions. Decred is one. I do understand that the Litecoin team is essentially a handful of volunteers, plus one recent full-timer. Perhaps we shouldn't expect too much.

My personal opinion is that marketing is not where it should be. This combined with some confusing Tweets isn't very reassuring e.g: Xinxi Wang who seems to be the main part-time developer:
https://twitter.com/TheRealXinxi/status/862926287958032384
When I sent a private message to Xinxi for an explanation, I didn't get much of a response.

Full implementation of Lightning Networks looks like it is a long way away and other things are appearing on the horizon like Drivechain. Something needs to be done, or the momentum already achieved will be lost.

You know what they say, you snooze, you lose. If the devs don't know by now everything you just said and aren't willing and/or able, then we know where this will end. It's not like it's just a couple of us here on BCT saying this - the market doesn't like what it's seeing either, although it has finally started to move. Nevertheless, when everything else is going up and your product is just sitting there flatlined, you'd better take notice. It's easy to brush off one person's opinion, it's quite another to ignore the market. And to think that LTC has its foot already in the door to becoming the real #2 #1 crypto saver AND payment coin! Can you imagine the embarrassment if they don't make that a reality? Can you imagine being asked everywhere you go "what happened?"

you mean friends for 4chan on the deep web? sir i would like to investigate a little more on that, can you please send me a link on private so i can make my own research?

DGB is a good project anyway, just a bit overpriced (3 or 4 times maybe Grin). Its not like a lot of scam coins pumped on Bittrex for the last two weeks (where people won't recover anything at all after dump). P&D guys pump both good and bad coins.

Some really good company to have with you, don't you think? How that hurts to be grouped with the likes of that! Ouch!

my favorite is etherum ETH
but ETH price this now is very high, so if trade with low capital money is low profit and low worth

Bitcoin is the favourite and other than this I was not much aware of the altcoins that are growing high in the crypto market. Recently came to know about ethereum and so ETH serves as an favourite in altcoins and few ICO too is growing good.

Nice to know your favorites, but they do us no good if you don't tell us why.

Your posts remain as good examples for future posts, and from now on be forewarned, if the word BECAUSE (or synonym) isn't used and followed by logical reasoning, the post will be deleted.

315  Economy / Speculation / What’s your favorite crypto worth? on: June 05, 2017, 03:36:08 PM

Have you ever gone about trying to figure out what your favorite cryptocurrency is really worth? You know, the Bitcoin is worth X, and Ethereum is worth Y, so my crypto must be worth Z exercise? My hopes are that this thread will help us all with that simple, yet not so simple, task. You know what they say, two heads are better than one!

I suggest that the fundamental starting point is determining a relative “peg” to what almost all crypto is traded in (for all intents and purposes), that is to say, Bitcoin itself. For example, on the most rudimentary of levels, if your favorite coin has an eventual cap of say 84 million coins, like Litecoin for example, then you would simply divide the eventual number of Bitcoin by the eventual number of Litecoin, or 21 million by 84 million, respectively, and you’d have your valuation estimate of Litecoin relative to Bitcoin in 25,000,000 Satoshi.

The fact that almost all altcoin trading is done in Bitcoin is only one reason for using it as a relative base number. It is also a mature cryptocurrency with mature markets with hundreds of millions of daily trading volume and billions in capitalization. The free market is clearly setting reliable daily prices that not only serve to value Bitcoin, but also as a solid reference point for alts.

With this kind of a relative assessment basic reference point we can begin to get a bit more objective with our estimates of value that we give our favorite cryptos. Of course, this “objectivity” ends with the basic ratio adjusted valuation itself, and, just as one would expect from such simplicity, there is no explanation for why something is overvalued or undervalued, but at least we’ve got a starting point to begin that discussion.

Overvalued and undervalued should not be confused with overbought and oversold – they are very different constructs with the first belonging to the fundamental analysis of the object being traded and the second belonging to technical analysis of the actions of market participants. When we ask the question why something is undervalued (which will be the key question for us at this time since there still are no examples of truly overvalued with respect to ratio pegged fair value) we are immediately concerned with product and product perception, and management, which in this case we generally call Development Teams.

If the product itself is based on newer, less well known, perhaps even experimental technology, then there would be an obvious reason for why the crypto in question would trade at a discount to fair value, or, as it were, be considered to be undervalued. We might even refer to this as a risk premium and expect a similar crypto based on Bitcoin core technology, all other things being equal, to trade relatively higher.

Another of the key considerations is the Dev Team behind the project. Obviously, a single developer “team” would trade at a notable discount. Take two equally designed coins and put a team of known experts alongside a “team” made up of one anonymous dev, and simple common sense tells us that there ought to be a huge difference in the value of the crypto being considered.

Then there is the issue of delivery, or performance, as it were. This is management related - after, of course, we’ve determined there is a real team at the helm with the minimum prerequisite competence. Is the team constantly improving the product and are issues dealt with in a timely and acceptable manner? Are deadlines met? Or is there overpromising with a lack of real results? Or, worse yet, are there unsatisfactory results in the form of partially working products or even complete failures? Product delivery, when lacking or nonexistent, can be a major reason for undervaluation, just as the opposite is true when great products are delivered as promised like Apple has become accustomed to doing.

Ideas are also critical, but the main idea is already there - it’s called blockchain. As such, we’re really not dealing with new ideas that can cause premium or discount trading, but there are sub-categories of ideas, or niches as I refer to them, that everyone is scrambling for. I’m not sure how much any given niche idea itself can influence in actual valuations – this is more of a delivery issue in my thinking as anyone can shoot for any particular market and it’s the first to get there that will capitalize type of scenario – but it’s certainly something to be aware of and to try and keep in appropriate context within this discussion. Who is delivering best in each target niche?

What about things that taint the image of a particular crypto? Scams? Inexplicable instamines and/or premines? Any shady dealings what-so-ever are most certainly going to cause something to be undervalued, at least long term anyway once the wool is no longer pulled over people’s eyes (it often takes a very unforgiving market to teach market participants that lesson). This is also management related: is the dev team trustworthy?

These are all good questions to be asked when speculating about what our favorite crypto might one day be worth, and to also help keep us from selling way too soon. When putting your favorites to this “stress test”, how do they come out? With shining marks? Is your favorite coin a “5 star” coin but severely undervalued? Or have you found that you are involved in something a bit more suspect? I think the standard advice for the latter is the easiest: get out while you can. However, advice on what you should do with your theoretical outperformers that are currently underperforming is more complicated.

I believe that first and foremost you should share your conclusions – rationally presented objective data based conclusions – with everyone you can. You will be doing everyone involved a huge favor as the better everyone understands the prospects, the less everyone will sell, and, as logic would have it, price, in turn will continue to rise in direct relation to everyone’s knowledge and trend towards fair value.

A slightly more delicate additional action to employ would be that of informing others involved in possible scams about the competition that is doing things right, but you need a strong stomach and real dedication for that. Nonetheless, in spite of the perceived negatives, the person that does this effectively is doing us all a great public service.

Finally, as we move forward educating ourselves and fellow “community” members and others outside our current circles about the real possibilities our favorite cryptos have, let us do so in the positive – there’s nothing that will hurt you more than the internet pissing match the shameful con man will try to lure you into. Take the high road and don’t even go there. Think of it as a word to the wise, and rest assured, the wise will hear you. (To that end this thread will also be a moderated thread with negativity zero.)

With determination, persistence, perseverance and resolve, let the world know about your cryptocurrency’s real prospects! And don’t forget to calmly, yet enthusiastically, TELL THEM WHY! If you’re a real early adopter and not a scammer, you deserve all the rewards you will receive!

And be sure to share it here! OMG, and if you forgot to do that, then where would we be?!?!  Cheesy

Haha, great news - awesome to see Magi up at $1,000,000 without the aid of polo =D

Magi is awesome =)

Okay, will the mods forgive me for violating the best practice of not quoting images? I hope so because this is a deserving exception!
317  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: June 05, 2017, 10:14:09 AM
If you haven't read it already, here's yesterday's Coindesk article on Litecoin and Lightning Networks:

http://www.coindesk.com/cross-blockchain-trades-lightning-gives-new-life-atomic-swaps/

Litecoin is now, potentially, the most technologically advanced coin in the crypto-universe with Core developers working on it to deliver full implementations of Lightning, the game-changing 'atomic cross-chain transactions' and other goodies.

"Another point to note: now that SegWit has activated on litecoin, users can begin sending test cross-chain transactions from litecoin to the bitcoin testnet."

When news of full Lightning implementation breaks it will be too late - the train will have left the station.

Great article giving very nice insight into the potential of Lightning Network. Problem is though that the Devs of SegWit activated coins aren't acting on their opportunity and other technologies are already filling the niche first.

Why this foot dragging and lack of action on the part of the SegWit activated devs? I imagine that it's most likely a combination of converging factors from being overwhelmed, to incorrectly thinking that time is not of the essence, to perhaps even possibly thinking that they have a monopoly on the holy grail. AFAIK they aren't even talking to each other about network integration - either that or they're keeping it top secret. What's it been? 60 days now since activation and we've heard nothing? 60 days in crypto is like 60 weeks in the rest of the world - you wake up to find out that nobody needs you anymore because your technology, even though it's good, is not as good as what's already been put to work. They've got to get on it now. I've got a jump start idea that would guarantee Lightning Network almost instant and universal acceptance that I've offered to the SegWit Devs risk free, and haven't even received a reply. I've no idea what's going through their heads.

Thanks for posting the link!

Totally agree. If LTC doesn't move (now) with advancements, it'll be left in the dark. The price will leave no room for anything (no paid devs, no usage. no nothing). Where are the updates?  If you can't get lightening and smart contracts going now, others will.  If you can't get others to start switching to LTC now, because of its speed, other will. The window and door is open right now, but only for a very short period of time.

Nice tweet from @SatoshiLite - RSK on Litecoin. SmartLitecoins. 2-way pegs. Atomic swaps. Drivechain.  More details on twitter.

Litecoin taking big steps forward.

Faster, faster, faster! Wink

Good move with the new thread. Being THE most important crypto forum on the internet, it's not to be treated casually.

Or is there anyone who still hasn't noticed that BCT is always at the top of any Google search done?  Grin

This is without a doubt one of the major information gateways to crypto.

thats nice.
but do you have some strategy for days when massive dumps will occur?

This is a short to intermediate term basket trade, and from here on out the strategy will be to ride them out (if we get any - for anyone not yet positioned, I would view them as buying opportunities until things turn bearish) until I get short to intermediate term sell signals, and then it'll still only be a matter of calm portfolio re-balancing, perhaps even to fiat, but we'll have to see what conditions warrant.
