I like the idea of a trust less environment.
Yeah, that's one thing there is plenty of around here; companies you can't trust.

I was just thinking about this the other day... if more and more people are buying bitcoin wallets to store their bitcoins in, and spend a lot of money to buy cold wallets in general to hoard their bitcoins, wouldn't this kill the bitcoin economy? I would think over a period of time the more people will do this, the more bitcoins will not be regarded as a legit currency... just more as a commodity.
No. What's killing Bitcoin is the lack of core developer consensus and stagnant innovation. When Satoshi vanished, he apparently took all the creativity along with his 1,000,000 plus bitcoins. If the core devs can't agree on a single line of code change, how will they ever manage to innovate?

The powers that be seem to be finding great success is regulating Bitcoin to the fringes and making it impractical for use as a mainstream currency. Couple that with the fact there's been no major improvements to the protocol since 2009 or 2010, and you have a recipe for disaster.
If core can't agree on a single 1-line code edit, how can bitcoin possibly compete in this world of rapid technological change.

Circle appears to be distancing itself from Bitcoin. And I see nothing to support the notion that they're using blockchain technology for user to user transfers. The move looks more like the first step in a transition to a new business model. Yesterday, in a blog post, the company mentions adding "further currencies", suggesting that bitcoin is no longer going to be the focus.
This could turn out to be the worst news of the year for Bitcoin. If the bitcoin core team can't get its act together, we may see more companies making similar moves. I don't see how bitcoin can possibly remain competitive when its software is stuck in 2009 mode.

I just completed the survey. Thanks for reminding me that I've lost bitcoins due to exchange closures, wallet compromise, scams, and theft.

This is looking really bad. They've also revamped their home page. https://www.circle.com/enNow you have to scroll way down the page to find any mention of Bitcoin at all.

Reddit speculation >>> Not surprising. Circle's target audience is mainstream and mainstream Joe does not care about speculating on bitcoin. That might change during the next bull market though Yes, but this looks like a possible first-step move away from Bitcoin. Hopefully, that's not the case.

This is the new screen that users get when logging into their accounts today. Notice the "Stay with Bitcoin" button is nearly invisible. I wonder if this is their answer to the block size debate? And the following is a video released yesterday that makes no mention whatsoever of Bitcoin. The example uses an email address, not a bitcoin address. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ojmQoesKS4Seems they could be joining the ranks of Square Cash, Venmo and a host of other identical services. Maybe they decided to hedge their bets until the bitcoin core team can pull their heads out of their asses?

Thanks! i did , and i didn't understand which exactly of my posts break your rules -- posts that are news links with headlines copied as the title (use your own words to describe link.) -- posts or links that have already been shared to the group. -- posts from repeat members that only make paid posts and don't otherwise comment or participate in the group. -- Posts that don't add any value to the group. -- Posts from Facebook accounts that are fake or inactive. -- Posts that are in broken English and/or difficult to understand. I don't remember your post(s) as we get quite a few posts each day. But you can rest assured that posts adhering to the above guidelines are generally approved. The general idea is to build a group of great value, so if your post brings value to the group, and your FB account is aged and active, you should be okay.

Please feel free to participate in the group while you wait. But you are only entitled to one paid post every 7 days. Users that cheat are subject to being banned permanently from the group. Thank you! sorry thought that it's already a week my bad It's pretty easy to check. I would like to be able to operate on a trust system, but maybe that won't be possible. The main goal is to build the greatest Facebook group that Mark Zuckerberg as ever seen. I think we can do this if we don't get too greedy.

Fuck Mike and Gavin and fuck the core-team too. We need a third and fourth devteam to push different forks on us. Not enough dev competition.
Community should start pushing their own softwares and not use any of that crap these puppets try to push on us.
None of these assholes has any say if nobody listens.
This is what is already happening, they're called alternative currencies. And they are beginning to take hold. In my view, the only way for bitcoin to remain competitive is for the core team to 1.) mature, 2.) put their ego's aside, and 3.) do what's best for the community.

If transactions become slower because of more use, it could go back to be used by less people, but not die.
Perhaps its future is to remain used by just a few people, just like now. But that does not mean dead.
Correct. I think what you're most likely to see is continued use by early adopters, but not complete death, as other currencies that don't sink into political gridlock over a tiny 1-line code change begin moving to the forefront. The webcrawler never died, its just not as popular as it was in 1995. https://www.webcrawler.com/
