....I get the feeling this is just another attempt at trying to curb internet freedom and stop people from posting whatever they like and is a precursor to something far more insidious than simply protecting someone's hurt feelings. By the way I can completely understand if somebody is having trouble with an internet stalker, never use software or websites that don't allow you to block certain users by I.P address, encrypt your messages and for fucks sake don't give out personal information unless you have the balls to live with the consequences.....

More sunburns.
Increased numbers of girls with bikinis must be stopped.

For me it seems that it's a natural process for the climate our planet

It is.Mainstream media don't want tell this

Mainstream media says that the temperature will go up because of human activity and that it is bad but can they really tell why it would be bad? They have no idea what will be affect (if anything) by more CO2 in the atmosphere

When the temperatures increase the polar ice starts to melt and the sea level starts to rise, this is the real affect of global warming, if you see a show called "Vice" it shows how water levels are rising increasingly and the world around is sinking.

We are still in the Ice Age so a warming up of the temperatures is natural, probably nothing we can do about it if it's due to the Sun like the Russian scientist community think and can you tell me how many cm the seal level would rise if the global temperature is raised by 2degrees? And how many people would be affected?? Raising temperatures would be good for countries like Canada who will be able to use the northern of their country and for us humans that are made for tropical temperatures
No, you cannot predict the rise in sea level resulting from a 2 degree rise.  The reason is that to attempt it you must presume all other factors are unchanged, such as the ocean currents.   But they would not be the same.

And there really is not any such thing as a measurable "global temperature", that's a myth and an unscientific jury rigged construction.  Scientific would be to look at increases in latent heat of the ocean mass.
12744  Other / Politics & Society / What Internet Trolls really are. on: October 03, 2014, 07:21:07 PM
Interesting study.  What kind of people are internet trolls, actually?

http://wattsupwiththat.com/2014/10/02/and-climate-internet-trols-are-some-of-the-worst/

In this month’s issue of Personality and Individual Differences, a study was published that confirms what we all suspected: internet trolls are horrible people.Let’s start by getting our definitions straight. An internet troll is someone who comes into a discussion and posts comments designed to upset or disrupt the conversation. Often, it seems like there is no real purpose behind their comments except to upset everyone else involved. Trolls will lie, exaggerate, and offend to get a response.

I am fearful that the US is going to follow in Argentina's footsteps. Once inflation starts to pick up more rapidly, im not sure what we can do and citizens to stop it
Citizens do not stop such things.  They observe them, and are impacted by them to whatever degree they have not prepared.

However, Cyprus was under the Euro, and Argentina has it's own currency.

So what will happen is the miraculous transformation of the Old, Bad Peso, into the New, Strong Peso at say 50:1 official exchange, rate, street exchange rate....

It's been my experience that people hate things that tend to challenge their sense of self-identity.....
You may be defining one type of hate, which exists on occasion.  But that is not the whole story.  Hate exists as a human emotion and there are likely good reasons for it, based in our survival as a species.  Thus it is false to consider a lack of hate as making one a better or superior person.

Of course, misplaced hate would be counterproductive, but so would misplaced love or any other emotion.

Climate Change May Kill More Than Ebola, U.K. Doctors Say

Climate change may kill many more people than the Ebola virus, a group of U.K. doctors said ....
I know one thing.  And that's that docs bitching about "climate change" are sitting on their fat behinds in smug conceit, while some others are out actually confronting Ebola patients.

Kinda OT:

WTF is a social scientist? that sounds like a bunch of .....

Is it a bunch of people who take a bunch of Psych. classes and surf facebook and read blogs all day?  I want to know what qualifies someone as a social scientist.

A "social scientist" in this context would be one of the many people who are paid, typically by governments, to tailor the lies promulgated regarding climate change, the advertising messages and the narrative.  In order to have the broadest effect.  Essentially this amounts to paid propagandists.

So more often than not, when I pick through one of the arguments splashed into the news media, I am simply deconstructing spin and propaganda.  Behind that are some actual facts, which may or may not be true, but which typically don't have much to do with the presented imagery and or the intended effect on audiences.

Climate change, actually is a treasure trove of propagandic methods and techniques.  I guess that's why it interests me.  I don't find the scientific issues hard to understand.

Medieval/Ancient people was funny, if they win a battle "the lord was with them", but when they lose, the lord was never with the enemy... f**king retarded monkeys!

Funniest thing...I have an iron helmet too!

Have to admit I was wondering when and how it might, if ever, come in useful.

Oh, and regarding those ancient battles, yes, of course presided over by The Lord up in the clouds....don't forget reading the tea leaves and the chicken bones!  That was some powerful prediction magic, roughly equivalent to today's climate prediction models.

Global Warming Claims Another Victim… Gravity…

Gravity—yes, gravity—is the latest victim of climate change in Antarctica. That’s the stunning conclusion announced Friday by the European Space Agency.

“The loss of ice from West Antarctica between 2009 and 2012 caused a dip in the gravity field over the region,” writes the ESA, whose GOCE satellite measured the change. Apparently, melting billions of tons of ice year after year has implications that would make even Isaac Newton blanch. Here’s the data visualized.

It reminds me of those first images of the ozone hole, decades ago.

To be fair, the change in gravity is very small. It’s not like you’ll float off into outer space on your next vacation to the Antarctic Peninsula.

The biggest implication is the new measurements confirm global warming is changing the Antarctic in fundamental ways. Earlier this year, a separate team of scientists announced that major West Antarctic glaciers have begun an “unstoppable” “collapse,” committing global sea levels to a rise of several meters over the next few hundred years.

http://www.slate.com/blogs/future_tense/2014/09/29/antarctic_ice_melt_causes_small_shift_in_gravity.html

I'm going to cite one fact in opposition to a silly article, Willikon.

GRACE gravitational-recovery satellites showed sea-level falling from 2003-2009 (Cazenave et al., 2009).

Now it happens that gravitational measurements are incredibly sensitive.

But your writers didn't shout "Sea Levels are Falling, Not Rising!"

Nope.  They spun the subject around to make it sound frightening.  But it's the exact reverse.....

When lying is endemic in science (or in reporting of science), we've got serious problems.  But they are problems in malfunctioning human brains, not in Gaia.

Things are somewhat improving though.  This article published in Science suggests dropping the "Global Temperature" unscientific measure for assessing "climate change."

http://wattsupwiththat.com/2014/10/01/wow-nature-article-suggests-ditch-the-2-c-warming-goal/

As I have previously commented a "global temperature" is not calculable and frankly, does not exist.  Yet multiple trillion dollar public policies are being crammed at populations based on these propagated myths.

In what ways does science debunk evolution and support intelligent design?  Keep in mind that  the second law of thermodynamics (entropy) does not disprove evolution, and the burden of proof is on you for there being a god.

Minor issue, there exists an error in the construction of the argument.  Neither evolution or intelligent design proves or disproves a god.

Intelligent design could simply be super smart aliens playing with their toys.  Gamers.

ID does not prove or even buttress the argument for a god.  I understand why believers hold that it does.  They seek proof of words such as "God created (man, woman...).  Then confronted with evolution created man, they devise ID.  The logical fallacy is in believing that ID means "God created..."

ID actually means (set of possible creators and gamers) created (man, woman...)

This cannot be disproven by believers in ID who in fact are creationist religious people.
True, I was addressing the belief of a god creating us vs evolution, should have phrased my question better.

It's not specifically an error you made.  It is a fundamental error in the "controversy".  BOTH atheists and religious people are actually arguing an incorrectly formulated proposition.

Behind this is the actual question:  Is the universe rich and abundant in intelligence and consciousness, or is in poor in these quantities?  At one far end of this spectrum of possibilities is the theory that in the entire universe, there exists only God, and humans and life on Earth he created.   I certainly reject this theory as anthropomorphically centered and ridiculous.

IF on the contrary the universe is rich in intelligence and consciousness then a range of possibilities exist, from a God which created them all to a a diverse group of levels from something similar to us, to something we might consider weakly godlike, to things we cannot conceive of.  This seems the most likely actual reality.
12755  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Muslim BS on: October 01, 2014, 04:02:47 AM
Yeah it seems as if the core belief system and text is very contradictory.  A muslim friend tried to convert me, so I entertained his desires and allowed him to read a story.  We're not friends anymore.
I have muslim friends.

But I suspect that just as many of us who grew up in a Judeo Christian cultural milieu, they don't take it seriously at all.
12756  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Muslim BS on: September 30, 2014, 10:06:15 PM
What an absurd! Anybody, muslim or not, white or black, would be kicked out of a plane with such behavior. Don't know why El-Al crew didn't followed the regulations and call the cops to escort them back to I century or so.

First of all - I'd be seriously pissed off if I was on such a flight, bunch of old bearded geezers hogging the aisle, blurting out garbage singsong crap, ruining the view of the pretty sights -

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HuhQ-VbjK3s

Second, given that it's the airline with the absolute least BS regarding security, and a 100% success record on security for more than 3 decades, I don't think you'll get anywhere trying to complain about their lack of political correctness.    The model for US airline security protocol should BE El Al, and the model for El Al is definitely not the US.  They have nothing to learn from our "Airport Security Drama Theater."  Nothing.

you will find out that the biggest fascists are liberals

they will never allow someone to think differently

because their belief is the right belief
.....
I have been personally called out as dumb for believing in a god. Most atheist I have meet have a superiority complex to believers thinking were retards. Not saying you are but most atheist are assholes in my opinion due to there ignorance in thinking this way.

NEITHER various types of theism (Catholic, Muslim, etc), or atheism (Communist Russia, China, North Korea, etc) seem to do very well when codified into the laws of a country and pushed on the population.

I say let each man or woman pick what beliefs seem to suit them best.
12759  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do people hate islam? on: September 29, 2014, 08:56:45 PM

Saying people hate Islam is a generalization.

Not everyone hates Islam.

Radical Islam.... That's what people hate.

Things like this are unacceptable:

Quran:
Kill disbelievers wherever you find them. If they attack you, then kill them. Such is the reward of disbelievers. (But if they desist in their unbelief, then don't kill them.) 2:191-2

 Huh

Plenty more:

http://dttj.blogspot.com/2010/08/intolerance-toward-non-muslims-in-quran.html

Interesting thing I found just googling "why hate Islam"... this list....

Don't take Jews or Christians for friends. If you do, Allah will consider you to be one of them. 5:51
The curse of Allah is on disbelievers. 2:89
Allah is an enemy to the disbelievers. 2:98
For disbelievers is a painful doom." 2:104
Allah will make disbelievers' miserable in this world and torture them forever after they die. 2:114
Disbelievers are losers. 2:121
The doom of the disbelievers will not be lightened. 2:162
Kill disbelievers wherever you find them. If they attack you, then kil them. Such is the reward of disbelievers. (But if they desist in their unbelief, then don't kill them.) 2:191-2
Allah says that you must keep fighting until there is no more persecution and everyone on earth is a Muslim. Then you can stop killing people. 2:193a

Intermarriage is forbidden. 2:221
Let not the believers take disbelievers for their friends in preference to believers. 3:28
Don't believe anyone who is not a Muslim. 3:73
Don't be friends with non-Muslims. They all hate you and want to ruin you. 3:118
Have no unbelieving friends. Kill the unbelievers wherever you find them. 4:89
The disbelievers are an open enemy to you. 4:101
Do not choose disbelievers as friends. 4:144
Never help disbelievers. 28:86

The disbelievers, they are the wrong-doers." 2:254
Non-muslims will be punished by Allah for their nonbelief. 3:19
We shall cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Their habitation is the Fire 3:151
Christians and Jews must believe what Allah has revealed to Muhammad or Allah will disfigure their faces or turn them into apes, as he did the Sabbath-breakers. (See 2:65-66) 4:47
If the unbelievers do not offer you peace, kill them wherever you find them. Against such you are given clear warrant. 4:91
Non-muslims are wrong doers. 5:45
Jews and Christians are evil-livers. 5:59
Those who deny Muhammad's revelations are like dogs. 7:176
Fight disbelievers who are near you, and let them see the harshness in you. 9:123
Allah hates disbelievers. 35:26

And then a comment...

https://malaysia.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20130429050316AAq2MOs

Islam has to eradicate from its codex all notions of killing as a justified means to an end. So long as this sort of 'code' exists the programming is allowed to be carried out by the mules. Then there are the cultural overtones that exacerbate the ability for rational people to accept 'Muslims' since so many practice in country's where people are treated like dirt, especially women. Finally, all religons have a egoist based condition that is problamatic. No prophet would espouse death and destruction much less treating people like dirt. It is the egoists who create these conditions and then hide their despicable behavior behind the cloak of 'religion' or religiosity to justify their actions.

I lean toward agreeing with the above part "eradicate from its codex all notions of killing as a justified means to an end".  If you gave people a "holy book" with this stuff, then some percentage of wackos are simply going to act on it and feel they are justified.  Like they are and have been doing.
12760  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do people hate islam? on: September 29, 2014, 04:52:01 PM

I'm an atheist, but whatever. Even were I not, I would severely disagree with this. The whole "original sin" argument has never made any sort of rational sense. We are what we are, and only by deeds can we devolve or evolve into something lesser or greater. What you think has no morality, it's what you DO.
Given that the OP is "Why do people hate Islam" I don't think it should degenerate into "Why Jesus is the Savior", unless, of course, that is somehow related to the OP.  I really don't care to get dragged into religion discussion.

We're on the subject of hate.
