13061  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: February 28, 2018, 08:22:33 PM
I don't think there is a problem.

I believe that the "Recent merit sent" section (from /index.php?action=merit) only shows merits sent in the last month. Today is February 28 and my page only shows my merits sent until January 29 while I have some from January 28 that can be seen in the "Sent in the last 120 days" section (from /index.php?action=merit;u=557798).

So ~1 month for the "Recent merit sent" and 120 days for the "Sent in the last 120 days".
13062  Other / Serious discussion / Re: I almost logged in to this site, bitcointalk.to, instead of this one. on: February 28, 2018, 07:25:20 PM
Am I the only one who can't even login in the fake website because reCaptcha isn't working on the login page? Why would someone try to login if the captcha isn't working? IMO the website is more like a (outdated) reading-only forum mirror than a phishing website. (just don't try to login)

13063  Economy / Services / Re: BitWhisk.io ✦ new Bitcoin mixing service ✦ testers evaluations on: February 28, 2018, 07:06:25 PM
The site looks promising to me.

Simple as alike.

- Working perfect
- The response is fast.

I am confused at one point. In your fee section, you have typed that your min commission is 0.5% right. In the next table, you have written that for 1-4 bitcoin it's 0.45 why? But at the same time, it is 0.5% in for all. Correct me if I get it wrong.
Also when

I believe it's something like a "loyalty system". From the fee section: "Remember, when you use BitWhisk regularly with the same code you get a discount. More you mix less you pay."

So, if you mix 3BTC, you pay a commission of 0.45%. If you keep mixing with the same code and get to 6 mixed BTC, you only pay 0.40%, etc...

This also makes me wonder, how is this code "info" stored? How do you link multiple orders to one user to know if he is a loyal costumer?

P.s: I'm here if you still need someone to try the mixing with multiple addresses/bigger delays Cool
13064  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum wallet pending for more than a week! on: February 28, 2018, 04:52:45 PM
I've made a "recieve" transaction on my offline default wallet on Electrum, but it has been on "pending" status for more than a week now.
What exactly do you mean by "I've made a "receive" transaction"? Huh

Do you mean you gave your wallet address to someone and they sent you bitcoins? If so, who did you buy these coins from? Did they provide you with a transaction ID? If so, have you checked this transaction ID on a blockexplorer like blockchain.info?

Also, if your wallet is "offline", it won't show the transaction history correctly as it can't sync... or do you mean you're looking at the online watching only version of your wallet and it says "pending"? Huh
I will risk and say that he's talking about the "payment requests" that can be done with Electrum.

Loading...

Take a look at the "Requests" history at the bottom. It's showing my "Testing 1" payment request as Pending because I have not received the coins.
13065  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin transaction fee!!?? on: February 28, 2018, 04:34:22 PM
I think it depends on BTC price. Last November-January BTC price was low so fees was high for all transations.
If you are talking about USD, yes. I believe satoshis/byte is a better option.

Remember that we are paying in BTC (a currency).

On the other hand how big amount you are sending one account to another account is one of the main factor of fees.
It's not. The amount doesn't matter. What matters is the size of the transaction (i.e more inputs/outputs). The bigger the transaction (size), the bigger is the amount of satoshis that we "need" to pay in fees (remember the sat/byte measure I talked above?)

Btw, my last transaction costed 0.000003BTC (1.382 sat/byte) in fees and it got confirmed in 2 blocks. That's $0,03 Wink
13066  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: To be JrMember, 6 weeks later ?? on: February 27, 2018, 07:09:52 PM
My stance is merit may be hard to attain.. but activity is the hardcap on difficulty here and it should be removed.. I do think merit indicates whether a user is quality or not without time being an inhibiting factor but having the Activity part still in I think is ridiculous.. What if someone were to get 750 merit in the course of 6 months.. would it really make much sense to make this person wait another 18 months to get the rank?  I personally find this to be the biggest flaw in the system although most want to focus on what they don't like about merits.  Still though, trying to make the system work according the rules set forth.. its just my opinion and won't let it interfere with trying to rank up over time.
Well, activity is meant to work like this. When it got introduced, there was not many bounty/signature spammers like we have today. So taking some time in the forum was everything you needed to do.

Merit was only added because the spam to rank up and join a bounty became unbearable and it started to hurt the forum. IMO, taking time to rank up (which was the original idea) and needing to make QUALITY posts and not just spam is the perfect combination for the new system.

It also helps preventing users from abusing the system by meriting his main account with alts to rank up in just 1 day.
13067  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Claiming Bitcoin Cash and Gold On New Computer and Nano Ledger S? on: February 27, 2018, 05:02:46 PM
To the nano ledger users, i have heard cases where the nano ledger s is very confusing to use and heard people say they made mistake and you could easily make a mistake of sending bch to btc wallet and vice versa and stuff like that.  Is that true or false?
It's true Rewording after reading HCP's post: It's true that some users may think it's confusing and will end up sending coins to the wrong address (not Ledger's fault). But I'm not sure if Nano S already supports the new cashaddr format for Bitcoin Cash which will make things easier.

Normally, both BTC and BCH will have the same valid addresses in both chains. So, my address 1NinjabXd5znM5zgTcmxDVzH4w3nbaY16L is valid for both chains and can store BTC and BCH. This means that you can send BTC/BCH to the opposite chain by mistake (BTC to BCH or vice-versa); (Btw, If you do that but you own the address - which is the case with the Ledger Nano -, you can recover it.)

To avoid this kind of mistakes, BCH adopted a new format that looks like this (which like I said above, is or will be supported by Nano): bitcoincash:qrhyrhms7kplesyktkfv2ea53x2dlacuuuxna40hym
13068  Other / Meta / Re: Merits for the newbies and jr members on: February 27, 2018, 04:51:16 PM
I'm always trying to do that. But finding high quality posts among Newbies is a hard task.

Have you ever thought that most users will only merit high ranks because they tend to make good posts and that has nothing to do with the user's rank? I personally never look at the rank before deciding whether someone deserves merit or not. However, I still have plent of sMerit to give because I try to hold some for the lower ranks and I can't find any. If I decided to merit every high quality post, I would have none by now because 95% of all good posts are made by Legendary/Hero users.

Talking is easy, but do you really deserve any merit? Post here/PM me any of your HQ posts (if you have any) and if you deserve, I will merit you.
13069  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bittrex verification for withdraw on: February 27, 2018, 02:22:26 PM
As title says I am in need of some advice, I have around 900usd in bittrex that I would like to withdraw, but I do not want to send them my personal information for verification. I am willing to pay for assistance in this matter except obvious scams like "give me the account details I will verify and send you 90% etc." Any and all help will be appreciated
What kind of help you do need? You need to verify your account or you won't be able to withdraw.

You could ask someone on your family to verify the account with his ID for you. Other than that, I don't think there is anything you can do.
13070  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Claiming Bitcoin Cash and Gold On New Computer and Nano Ledger S? on: February 27, 2018, 12:15:23 AM
I assume that because my BTC is already in my Ledger Nano S (BTC wallet) that using this risky Electron wallet is not the same security risk as when someone splits their BTC from the Electrum wallet?
Yeah. It should be safer because even if a fake wallet steals your private-keys, there are no Bitcoins in there anymore. So you are only risking your BCH.

But you can *kinda* trust Electron Cash Smiley (at least for now)

13071  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Claiming Bitcoin Cash and Gold On New Computer and Nano Ledger S? on: February 26, 2018, 11:19:57 PM
Ok I understand. I do have the wallet backed up on a USB drive. But the backup was made when I had BTC in it. I since sent my BTC to my Ledger Nano S from my wallet that was on my PC.

So what will happen when I go to my old backup Electrum file (from my USB drive) that was made when I did have my BTC in it?
Nothing will happen. Like I said above, you backup once and the file will be the same forever. There is no such thing as "old backup" with Electrum.

Your coins are not stored in the file. You don't have any BTC but the BCH is still there in the blockchain, waiting to be spent. Do like I said and you will see your BCH balance.
13072  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Claiming Bitcoin Cash and Gold On New Computer and Nano Ledger S? on: February 26, 2018, 10:39:40 PM
OK thanks but I am a little confused. What part of my back up am I supposed to use? The wallet file or the program shell?

The program shell I believe can only be re-installed from a download (even if I have a copy on my backup USB drive) and if that's the case it would be a fresh install and would not have my private keys
What exactly did you backed up?

Electron Cash looks exactly like Electrum. If what you backed up was the wallet file, just select it in Electon Cash like you always did with Electrum when opening your wallet.

13073  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Claiming Bitcoin Cash and Gold On New Computer and Nano Ledger S? on: February 26, 2018, 10:23:02 PM
Hey HCP.  So just to make sure, electrum counts right?  Just want to make sure before i order it.
Yes...

I transferred my BTC from my Electrum wallet to my Ledger Nano S but I then permanently deleted my Electrum wallet from my PC because I switched PC's for (security purposes).
I do have backups of my Electrum wallet (if that helps) but these were made before I moved my BTC to my Ledger Nano S.

Can I gain access to the required private keys on my PC or from my Electrum backup? In order to finish claiming my BCH on Ledger Nano S. Any help is appreciated!
That's good enough. Your Electrum wallet/seed never changes. It doesn't matter if you moved the funds or made any new transactions. Backup once and you are done!

Just download Electron Cash[1] and open your Electrum wallet file with it. Then, send your BCH to your Nano S.

13074  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do bitcoin addresses expire? on: February 26, 2018, 09:26:52 PM
LISTEN UP EVERYBODY!

This question already has been answered MULTIPLE TIMES. Do we really need 3 pages of Newbies repeating the same thing over and over again with a broken english?

"They don't expire"
"Don't worrt they don't do such"
"I do not believe bitcoin addresses expire"

JUST STOP! You will not get any merit with this bullshit anyways. Stop wasting server resources.
13075  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core 0.16.0 binaries available on: February 26, 2018, 08:38:18 PM
I can't find the official documentation regarding signing arbitrary messages with these addresses. Can anyone enlighten me?
Did electrum implement its own or an unofficial standard? Will this be supported by Core?

That's all I could find with my limited knowledge:
My doubt, regarding signing in segwit address is if this is a "bug" and will soon be corrected, or is it an abandoned feature?
It is neither a bug nor an abandoned feature. It is just that we are still working on creating a more generalized signing scheme that lets people sign with things like P2SH addresses (e.g. sign with a multisig address). There is simply no standard yet for signing with such scripts or with Segwit.

Note that you don't actually sign with an address. You sign with a public-private keypair and your wallet interprets it as an address. Your wallet could just as easily interpret it as a segwit address. We are working on creating something that actually specifies the address type, and more generally, allows signing with scripts.

Bitwala is merging the crypto and fiat worlds and you can pre-register today! - https://www.bitwala.com/bitwala-bank-account-coming-soon/
Will this account (and card) be available worldwide? Or only to EU/German citizens?
13077  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Electrum Wallet - is this a different wallet than the ZClassic Electrum on: February 26, 2018, 05:23:04 PM
My understanding is that if I have my BTC in an Electrum wallet, I will be able to collect BTCP.
That's right. For every BTC you have, you will receive 1 BTCP. When the network is live, you can open your Electrum BTC wallet into the Electrum version for BTCP and spend your coins.

Is the Bitcoin Electrum wallet different?
Yes. You can only see and spend the coins if you are in the right version.

Can I have both Electrum wallets simultaneously?
Yes.
13078  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is this website ? on: February 26, 2018, 01:34:39 AM
That's the website: https://localbitcoins.net/

Why did he sent you this screenshot? The site is legit, but the screenshot may be fake. If he is trying to sell you BTC and claimed to have this amount, he might be trying to scam you with a fake screenshot.

Are you from Brazil? (the picture is in Portuguese). You can PM me anytime if you need some help.

They can't even post a normal shared link that you must click to open/view?
They can post the link, but not "attach" the image in the thread.
13080  Other / Meta / Re: Hello on: February 25, 2018, 07:33:47 PM
Thank you my dear friend.
But after I Upload a few photos on iMGUR, how can I attached them to the forom?
Thanks
Mark
You can't (yet) because you are still a Newbie.

You need to be at least Jr. Member or pay to become a Copper Member. Then, just use this:
