Sorry want to sell withaut escrow, need bitcoins fast.
It is not really a valid argument: by not using escrow you will deprive yourself the opportunity to make a quick sale, you will instead have to wait for ages before you realize that nobody will trust you. So in the end of the day you would have got the bitcoin faster by using escrow to begin with. You could most likely have made a 7 BTC deal the 13 or 14 Feb, the product would have arrived today (at latest, if using UPS), the bitcoins could have been released to you today...

Wow the coins looks great. But does it also have some real value insteed of just being so beautiful.
That's why they are loaded with BTC ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Yep, you can peel of the hologram anytime you like, there is a private key under the hologram, that you can use to redeem 0.01 BTC.

If it was a cold wallet, how the hell was it stolen?
Somebody physically entered their facilities?
Obviously not cold, if you go back and look at the pattern of the coin movement before the hack, it is typical hot wallet pattern. What a mistake to keep all the funds in a hot wallet.

i want to ask a question. Bter doesnt use "two factor authentication" ? it s really basic security . it asks that 7170 btc will be sent from your address pls write here your authentication code or pls write here your password in the message on your phone. or it hacked completely??
Nahh, it is a little more complicated than that. But honestly we do not know, we can only guess. Only thing that is for sure is that the coins are gone (this is documented in the blockchain). I believe they got root access, so as far as I am concerned the whole system could be wiped out too.

It is interesting to see how the thieves have nicely distributed the coins into 7 x 1000 BTC addys, and the left overs has gone into a mixer.
i don't see any leftovers going into a mixer. The total sum is split into 1000 BTC chunks ant the balances are still there, in those few wallets... ![Cool](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cool.gif) Looks more like someone is going to extort money from Bter as a free giveaway, as it happened previously with NXT coins Looks like you are right, I am still curious about this transaction: https://blockchain.info/tx/28b3009c7ad8898077b348a943a9c5d8187e1e53e85893d17999b9125bbbab10I wrongly assumed it was being mixed, but looks likes these addies has been used before.

As I told before a simple use of the multi-Sig "function" could avoid this type of situation (check greenAddress and see how it is easy to use).
I think the multi-signature technology has a lot of potential, and I think we will see more of this in the future. However, I have yet to see any exchange implementing the tech for a trading pair (e.g. BTC-LTC), dunno if it is even possible, but if it is possible, then is it exactly what we need.

OMG it has happened again, every time that bitcoin is in a good way another hack....
I am afraid that bter users are not going to recover their bitcoins
Yes One after another scammer hacking every site. I dont think these are scammer that hacking these site its their own site owner who are hacking the sites. Now i also lost my 3$ in this site ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) . Its not the point that i only lost my 3$ but the point is How i can safe my BTC when all the site going down every day? Well, its a matter of statistic, only leave coins on an exchange for those minutes/hours it is needed to exchange, and hope you don't get caught in the middle of a hack. Else NEVER leave coins at exchanges for longer time.

How do you know?
I asked the owner of bitcoin nordic not to long ago, the left over of BIPS was fusion with bitcoin nordic, which used to be my broker, they now goes under the name coinify. I expressed my concern over this fusion and got a detailed explanation. But you have a good point, they could be lying, so I do not know for sure. Edit: I learned my lesson back then in 2013, 3 coins lost ![Cry](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cry.gif)

Ofcause you cannot redraw 7000 BTC at once without getting caught, so the 7x1000 BTC will be long time storage (properly many years) and the left overs that is in the mixer will go to one heck of a party.
It is possible to trace the stolen money even through a mixer, provided the mixer owner is willing to cooperate... ![Cool](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cool.gif) Well that is the business model of a mixer, to hide the transactions of their clients - so you could speculate that the mixer company "would not be able" to provide this information. The smart thing to do for the thieves would leave the coins alone. The BIPS hack 19 Nov 2013, was 1200 coins stolen, the coins was send to: https://blockchain.info/address/1LuG91tcSQxKj32BsCoRkX7yQLfj9LtkCsThe coins has not been touch ever since. And the thieves was never found...

The big question now is whether they got their altcoins stolen too or not. Most of my funds were in NuShares and I only had like 6 bitcoins in bter. Did the thief also steal altcoins? Will customers get their altcoins back intact?
I assume the intruders got root access, I do not see how else they could get 5 different private keys at the same time.
|
|
|
Like I posted in another thread, at least 5 private keys was compromised from so called "cold storage". When you trace back, these "cold" addys, they where clearly not cold at all, they had 7K in their hot wallet! A first year grad student in Information Security can do better than that. At least bitstamp did not have all the freaking coins in their hot wallet.
