827  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] Casascius Brass Coins 0.5BTC on: July 28, 2015, 12:31:18 AM
They look nice and clean, they'd probably fetch good grades with anacs Wink.

Whether it's worth the trouble or cost is a different matter.

I beleive these could easily fetch MS67+ maybe even MS69/MS70 :O who knows

Lol Cheesy

Took you're not laughing really thats not like you?

The laugh was because I assumed that David was joking about a handled casascius brass coins getting MS70 Smiley

But David is right about "who knows?", we are all amateurs here, so only a professional grader can say for sure.

829  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Grading Coins - A Few Basic Questions. on: July 27, 2015, 05:12:50 PM
Would people grade coins from, say, Crypto Imperator or Microsoul?

ANACS will grade almost anything, including Crypto Imperator and Microsoul:

832  Economy / Goods / Re: [Interest check] Satoshi's Genesis Block newspaper on: July 25, 2015, 11:54:25 PM
Maybe it is also a clue about Satoshi's mysteries? Wink

Well... You can look at it in two ways:
1. Satoshi must be from UK since he used the UK times.
2. Satoshi is not from UK, since he would never use a paper from his home country, since it would be easier to guess his identity.

So bottom line, the newspaper provides no useable clue.

Speaking off Satoshi, I think those analysis made, where someone found correlation in noun spectra for the first 0-50000 blocks is really interesting.
The statical information could be used to make a "good guess" on how many block rewards he actually claimed.
Another interesting thing, the first blocks mined (especially block 0), is much more worth than 50 BTC, these virgin coins could properly be sold on auction at a much higher price.
833  Economy / Goods / Re: [Interest check] Satoshi's Genesis Block newspaper on: July 24, 2015, 07:15:27 PM
I think im blind, but, how did this paper ended up so expansive?
Is it because its old newspaper or because it has interesting news on it  Huh

The coin base parameter on the bitcoin genesis block (block 0) contain this string:
5468652054696d65732030332f4a616e2f32303039204368616e63656c6c6f72206f6e206272696 e6b206f66207365636f6e64206261696c6

Which translate into:
"The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks"

When Satoshi forged the Genesis block he made this to link the date to a real world physical item, the New York UK Times headline for the 2009-01-03.

Im not really following international news sorry  Sad

This is also the reason why the newspaper is rare, there was no big international event that day.
But for bitcoiners is this ofcause a very very very very important date, and that is why some collectors are willing to pay big bucks for this news paper.
834  Economy / Goods / Re: [Interest check] Satoshi's Genesis Block newspaper on: July 24, 2015, 04:44:43 PM
Same one. Deal of a lifetime Cool

Could not agree more, very well done.
This piece belong on a museum.
835  Economy / Goods / Re: [Interest check] Satoshi's Genesis Block newspaper on: July 24, 2015, 04:42:53 PM
Nice item Smiley

Is this the same one you snipped for 0.26 BTC one year ago?
Or do you have more of them?
836  Economy / Collectibles / Re: The GENESIS COIN Trading Thread on: July 24, 2015, 01:27:56 AM
I think I might have a couple #007's, and I think I also have a few #004's.  Man, this is getting freaking confusing... Smiley

And, I find it freaking hilarious that the creator of these coins didn't keep any for himself... Grin

.... Grin. I was actually laughing when I made my post but I wanted all of these out there.  I didnt want to keep a coin someone was missing for a complete set.  Now that the dust has settled I can start looking for my own and not get in someone else way.  Either way it is kind of funny

I thought that wheelz1200 had forged a master coin for himself with the following inscription (which only fire could reveal):

One Coin to rule them all, One Coin to find them,
One Coin to bring them all and in the marketplace bind them

Cheesy

838  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Physical Crypto General Discussion on: July 23, 2015, 03:52:14 PM
Is it me or does sometimes it feel like we just keep passing around all of these coins to each other.  I for one am buying and stashing them away.  Whats everyones thoughts on the distribution of physicals?

I used to think this around 1 year ago. I would have thought the earlier holders have all they want by now, less the odd special coin that comes along.
I think we were trying to get a collection like Goat, no?  Tongue

New collectors join the community once in a while, it normally align with jump in BTC exchange rate or some big public event. This is very good, because transaction and trade of goods is good for the bitcoin ecosystem. I also have a theory that most bitcoiner would like to have at least one Casascius coins, be because of the historical significance, but when they will buy "their coin" is more or less random.
839  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTB] Casascius Coins on: July 23, 2015, 11:08:47 AM
Wow, I agree, $200 is a tad high for raw, even after they take their 13% "ransom".

If you're looking for one graded, TookDk had (still has?) an MS-67 for sale in his thread (too lazy to find and link it) for I think 1.0BTC.

Yep, its still for sale, MS67-DCAM, price: 1 BTC:

For the unfunded coins is the multiplier a problem, what is the face value?
If the face value is zero, then will the math break down:

facevalue * multiplier = price -> With zero in facevalue, then will the price be zero.

If the price is not zero, then is the multiplier undefined or infinite.
multiplier = Price/0
