1321  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Limit. on: August 05, 2014, 11:57:14 AM
1k USD is max, we will never reach more.

really??

but when dollar collapses and you can only buy a loaf of bread for $1000, what do you think bitcoin will be worth?

lol i do love seeing peoples speculations and to then slap their faces with wet fishes using info they never included, that would make their estimates not what they think.

if the dollar doesnt collapse (fiat explosion) then i see a potential in over a decade of $30k-$50k. but if dollar exploded like what happened in Zimbabwe, i can see bitcoin worth $500k

but just because bitcoin went from $1 to $1000 in 5 years, DO NOT expect the same 1000 fold jump in the next 5 years. it will be alot slower, alot lot lot slower

franky1, i thought you can read between the lines  Tongue

(i wrote total bullshit because the question was dumb in my view  Cheesy ! i give a shit on the daily price because it makes no sense to look at this. look at the bigger picture.
i think we will reach 10k - 50k in the next years... )

Most people can't sence sarcasm and irony. Especially because the price was already at >1k$ , pretty obv, but ...
1322  Economy / Economics / Re: Easiest way to make BTC? on: August 05, 2014, 11:55:18 AM
1BTC a day, 5 days a week is currently $151,000 a year. You would need to be doing either a high paying service or running your own shop to make that much. Aim much lower than that to start, and if it kicks off well, then great.

OP wouldn't ask how to earn that if he had the capital to earn that or have a running business. So yeah, either he is very skilled or a thief, then he could achive that longterm Wink
1323  Other / Off-topic / Re: If you could move to any country, which would you choose? on: August 05, 2014, 11:51:38 AM
In a country where there is lots of river so I can get cheap electricity...

The cheapest electricity is in countries that rely mostly on nuclear plants. Sad but true.

If you want my 6000 stellar --> 0.0275 BTC. Less than exchange rate. PM me!
1325  Economy / Speculation / Re: How many Bitcoins needed to retire in 5-6 years? on: August 05, 2014, 01:54:56 AM
I am surprised everybody here thinks BTC will be worth $5,000 in 5 years?

My prediction is that it might be worth around $1,000 IF IT survives and $0 if it crashes due to some hack or theft. Its a very risky commodity.

Lol. Its not a commodity. And its going to be worth much more than $1000 in 5 years. Thats almost laughable.
Such estimates are signs of capitulations, i.e. bullish  Grin

Your nickname is awesome Wink

Most people can only see black or white. If there is no place for something in their worldview, then they will completely ANTI. Sad but true.

Those guys are mostly religeous too... figuers Wink
1326  Economy / Economics / Re: Easiest way to make BTC? on: August 05, 2014, 01:52:02 AM

I wonder if MP is still offering his 5000/1 futures contracts?

I doubt it, this was a very good deal and more of a PR gag. Only 1000 BTC total
1328  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: August 05, 2014, 01:41:17 AM
12,000 btc and no sign of slowing down. Are banksters artificially dumping cash into this?

The amount be "invested" is suspicious. This certainly is not coming from the crypto community at this point. No one is this dumb to dump money into this overbloated investment right now.

Well, there are "Bitcoin" deposited to their address, so either they send their own BTC there or those orders are real.

The bet is now looking a tad better for me Wink

I think they are marketing to bitcoin owners or investors not associated with BitcoinTalk. The Ethereum thread is not growing enough to justify any sort of investment on this scale continuing.

You're right. Your bet is looking better. I think we are back to about 50/50% odds at this point.

I expected a jump on the 14th day, but not this much of one. Now will people still invest after the 14th day. Be interesting to see. But if this money is coming from bankers, then you'll win this bet. They'd pump it up just for PR alone.

Do you know why the jump tomorrow is only 2000->1970 ? I thought on the last day the ration will be 1 BTC -> 1337 etherum.

The address is receiving transactions very frequently , 4400 total until now. I didn't even know that there are >4000 people actively watching and following IPOs that closely. Very strange indeed.
1329  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Stellar on: August 05, 2014, 01:36:18 AM
Never heard of Slide and Square.  Paypal was worth nothing until Ebay bought them out.  LinkedIn.. isn't that just a resume website?

Worse of all you're still assuming that the mainstream public cares about any of the above.  Paypal and Linkedin could get some attention from certain people but the rest are unknowns.

I am not assuming anyone knows any of the above, you made that up. I said it's an interesting team, which is undeniable (=> power structures).

Seems like Stellar is your new obsession after your NXT rampage, eh? Keep it cool TaunSew.

P.S. Slide and Square are interesting companies when it comes to electronic payment services. Not sure why you haven't heard of them.

MIT media who?
That one was a joke, was it?

By the way - I can't know everything about the money transfer industry because there's thousands of companies (if not tens of thousands) in that game now.  Plenty of parasites who are just looking to convince people to throw money at their products or services.

MIT = Massachusetts Institute of Technology

and pretty much common knowledge.

But the point is, that due to the 20% of giveaway to bitcoin users, there will be a big part of that claimed!

Maybe try again.

I did .. Still no good ..

I get the following ..

Do you want to open or save ?
nxt-wallet-win-setup-1.2.2-nrs-1.1.5[1] from bbuseruploads.s3.amazonaws.com

I say 'save'
It downloads but truncates the file name at .....nrs1.1

If I say 'open'
nothing happens

Think i'll just wait for the next "new" client

Triff ..

You can just use another browser.

Also what will most likely help is change the name of the time to ".exe" in the end of the name-

The thing is, if it survives the price is bound to rise. And i say that with an "IF"

Great and informative thread. No agenda can be found here.
1336  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: August 04, 2014, 11:52:28 PM
Am I wrong?

Yes, you are wrong. The moment you give your private key away, the malware might be faster than your intended software doing the sweep. Example: malware monitors all text inputs for Bitcoin addresses and when it sees one it immediately uses it. Your software waits until you press Enter. :-)

So people finally realized that paper wallets are fine until one wants to actually spend them?  Tongue

That is a valid point. I might start using honey pots for importing now too :p

Well, not really Wink

It is just very complicate/much work to do. Using a cold PC to prepare a transaction and then broadcast it would be 100% safe (if no errors were made) but still, not very convenient.
1338  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: August 04, 2014, 11:48:46 PM
Trezor does not store a single address, so no single address can be imported. Trezor stores master seed for deterministic wallet hierarchy.
I don't think anyone is asking for private key import.  What they want is have the BTC swept from the entered private key on to the next available address in the deterministic sequence of the Trezor.  Once the sweep is complete then the imported private key is thown away.

But what is the advantage of entering the key into trezor instead of directly into the web interface. Once the whole key is entered the address is sweapt within seconds (I assume) so even if an attacker was infiltrating the PC, no harm could be done.

Am I wrong?

My wallet is asking me to update, but when I click 'OK', I get the following message:

"The hash of the downloaded update does not equal the one supplied by the blockchain. Aborting update."

What do I need to do to fix this?

download it again @ nxtclient.org

it is a bug in the saved blockhash. Just install it over the old files, nothing more.

Ok, thanks for the info.

Is it necessary to update though? Because everything seems to work fine as it is.

It was no critical update, but you will need to do it sometimes, because I don't know if you can even install newer versions with that bug. Dunno though.

I've got the same problem as T-800 when trying to update/upgrade  ..
And everything 'works fine' with the version I've got ..
Went to the download site to install the new 'one click'  client .. and nada
I've successfully downloaded a file titled "nxt-wallet-win-setup-1.2.2-nrs-1.1"
But it didn't self install on top of the existing client and I can't seem to 'open' it
or make any other command do anything with it .. ( Sucks being 62 and stupid  Angry)
Any thoughts ?? I'm OK with 1.1.4 ( since it works other than the reminders to upgrade )

Triff ..

the file name should be: nxt-wallet-win-setup-1.2.2-nrs-1.1.5.exe
Direct download from here: http://nxtra.org/nxt-wallet/

Sounds strange  that you can't open it. Maybe try again.

I have tasted all, and red bull is by a little margin the best.

But it is too expensive for a person that drinks 24 a week (Like I do often). That is why I shifted to "clever energy drink" it is 0.29 € in austria shop "Billa"
