Salsacz:  The "Procentual distribution of Bitcoin vs. Nxt" diagram has some flaws.

http://a.disquscdn.com/uploads/mediaembed/images/818/9098/original.jpg

1) It shows two identical pie charts, with exactly the same colors.  Surely, if you claim BTC and NXT have different distributions, then the piecharts should look different?

2) No clear markings/labels and colour differences are introduced on the piecharts to show clearly which one is NXT and which one is BTC.  At least draw a line up the middle and use different colors.

current version of my Nxt infographic based on Btc transactions:

Looks good!

The Transactions Per Second section says Nxt will be able to handle 1000 TPS with Transparent Forging. My understanding is that it won't be limited to this, but may actually support much larger numbers. What is a better way to phrase this? "thousands of transactions per second"?

The section on mixing services could be expanded to include examples that the average citizen would find useful. e.g. "you can prevent your insurance company or employer from snooping on your medical expenses and terminating your contract if they suspect you of being ill, and prevent advertizing companies or neighbors from spying on your spending habits".

Typo in Transparent Forging section: desifgned => designed.

Thank you!
1323  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt marketing & promotion :: Nxt now on Cryptmarket! [articles bounties] on: February 02, 2014, 01:35:51 AM

monthly?!

Edit: isn't that rather high? I mean that as a neutral question, not as an implicit statement that it ís high.
for nxt 2 months, then will obviously price of Nxt be double/triple from today, so it could be 50-100.000 in September..

What is the expected monthly budget for the critical marketing items?
I would expect 350.000

I apologize for my bad idea about real world swarms.
James
well, we could create some flashmobs / viral videos like:

belgian drama
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=316AzLYfAzw

airport gift mob
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NnxfJ2YImRk

Ode an die Freude
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbJcQYVtZMo

I would like to concentrate on creating the scripts for such mobs / events

I'll start feeding quality translations, updates and contents for the spanish community (nxtspain.org, twitter/NXTSpain) and perhaps use my real assets in video production soon.
fantastic job there, especially twitter + facebook, those are very important Smiley

Looking for New York speaker!!

They are tweeting to get our speaker there, fortunately I am searching all Nxt mentions by google and twitter many times a day so I found  it Smiley

It probably isn't that event in April, I can see only web:

http://www.cryptocurrencyconvention.com/

So who will step up? Smiley

Going to hear it now but why the heck is Nxt not mentioned?

NXT didn't get a representative to the panel, there was a seat

the NXT minute is about 37 minutes in

Also this played on KCAA AM 1300 and reached about 5,000 listeners in the counties surrounding Los Angeles, CA from 1-2pm PST today

That's quite disappointing that there was a spot for us there and we didn't fill it. A big deal IMO. I didn't know we had a seat. Why wasn't this made a big deal, so we could rally up and make sure the spot was filled?

We really, really, really need representation for these type of things. Not being involved makes Nxt seem secondary to these other projects, when in reality were clearly ahead of them.

Quote from: Adam B. Levine
Hey Aaron,
I'm putting on a debate about Metacoin layers on FRIDAY in miami, will anyone able to speak about NXT be able to attend?  Mastercoin, Ethereum and Bitshares will be there.  This will run on LTB as a full episode next week.

Here's the description

At the beginning of the event, each camp will have the opportunity to present their platform, the value it adds and how it's different from the others.   The other speakers will then have an opportunity to ask questions about that platform.  This will repeat with all three projects.

The next portion of the discussion will be focused on

DACs, DAs - Specific use cases, multi-layer progressions, etc.  I'd like to expand on some of the early concepts we'll see developed on these technologies. 2-3 examples would be great per project

Fundraising - You've all done, it and it defines you to a certain extent as different from colored coins which was a much earlier idea but seems to have lacked that investable quality that is propelling this next generation.   What worked, what didn't.  What would you do differently and do those following in your footsteps absolutely need to do exactly the same.

I'd like to get visionary with the final broad topic, talk about what the ecosystem you're creating will look like in 10, 50, 100 years.  Are these Metacoins logical conclusion, or are there more innovative layers still to come?

Whatever time is left will be devoted to audience questions.

Let's Talk Bitcoin!

The event is from 4pm-5:30pm EST about two blocks from the convention center at a small venue.  When you figure out who is attending email me adam@letstalkbitcoin.com and I'll send along the address.

Sorry for the short notice guys, I hadn't really taken NXT very seriously given the small initial fundraising, anonymous developers and large number of coins created and distributed to a handful of people.   When I got done actually understanding what you're up to, I realized NXT is basically the same type of project as the others on the panel, thus the late invite.      Whether or not you guys make the Miami panel, figure out who can speak for your project and email krystal@letstalkbitcoin.com to get on my interview schedule for the show.  Early February i'll be doing specific interviews with each metacoin project.  These projects will be a fairly large focus for LTB over the next months.

Adam has spoken. opticalcarrier, jump on a plane, my friend!

IS IT TODAY OR TMMR?

That is TODAY - I sent the initial invite to anon three days ago.

this looks like anon was waiting 2 days to publish the announcement

The swarming thing is just for online media from my understanding. Myth and FUD busting/commenting/fact checking and correcting for articles and such.
true, that's why I spent a month on creating:
http://nxtcoin.blogspot.cz/2014/01/nxt-myths-paper-completed.html
so we could then present it in graphics:

Dam: very nice Smiley otherwise thanks for covering the "client" topic

I'm gonna try to concentrate on the energy-saving/green angle of NXT over the next few weeks, more on that later, I hope.

It could work at an event for the general public, but I think that it will only succeed in annoying people at a more techie/professional conference.

We need quality people at the BTC conferences (as Miami showed, I think) who can actually engage with serious crypto-business types, not just a lot of people with no/little in-depth knowledge shouting that NXT is da best.

- yes, right now we should be open to all ideas
- (I could for example help with the graphics/videos, after I get the true data)

- working on Rasp. Pi for Berlin is in progress, nobody stepped up for getting rasp. to his hands for now. Our main speaker in Berlin McJavar should be prepared, but he didn't visit us in last... 8 days? There is a little problem - we don't have a table there, but maybe if we can somehow walk with it, it should be fine too. I still don't know how it works, if you can connect it to the notebook or even a tablet...

- with the green energy we should have opened doors to all kinds of science events - expos, where are smart people, but still untouched by cryptos... that might be huge

Good job Joefox, I hope we will be able to deliver all spots on time Cheesy

(37th minute... btw 57th minute is also interesting)

and if someone cares... it cost 50% Nxt from the NxtMarketing fund..

Funding request

We have paid for 1 minute sponsor spot at the Let's talk Bitcoin for 3 months. (http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=3000&acc=2976219914929693803)

It cost 290k NXT for 3 months

- anonymous donator paid 50.000 Nxt
- neer.g would be willing to pay 1/3
- we are still looking for: 150.000 Nxt

Genesis account passphrase was cracked before it was revealed - https://nextcoin.org/index.php/topic,3752.msg35274/topicseen.html#new

And cracked by Doctor Evil, no less! Cool

Btw, now BCNext can't prove that he is BCNext, anyone can sign a message using the genesis account. So we should expect that BCNext's real identity will never be known...

Edit: Is it a coincidence that my contract is being over in April?

We did not  know that there was a 10 BTC bounty for an audit!

Who is running that?  Can we perform the audit?  The parent company name is CodeAudit corp,  that is what we do.

Who do we contact to set up the audit?

Can you politly ask him to write something down? we NEED this desperatly !

Asked ages ago, his position sounds like that (my wording):

Satoshi's whitepaper has never been critically reviewed. This led to the situation when serious problems like Centralization, Selfish Mining, etc. were revealed too late. More problems will arise in the future (Huge Fees, Ecological Catastrophe). By refusing to write the whitepaper BCNext forces us to analyze Nxt concept as deep as possible.

[offtopic]
Had you noticed that when writing Satoshi and BCNext both used double spaces after periods?  Just sayin'.
[/offtopic]

Satoshi never used "can not" phrase
1339  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 01, 2014, 09:20:09 AM
CfB,

Please confirm that unclaimed funds used to be 9 million NXT, but BCNext increased it to 10 million NXT and said that he expected the community to fund servers.

That is what I remember and the implication is certainly that 1 million NXT of unclaimed funds should go toward NXT infrastructure, eg. servers.

9'223K NXT + 10 BTC is yet available.

Reserved from the amount above:

10 BTC - NRS crypto algo audit
250k NXT - Whitepaper
100k NXT - fatal flaw reward
100k NXT - AM contest rewards
100k NXT - fiat gateway rewards
100k NXT - minusbalancer's bounty for the client (Edit: It will be paid from the Development fund)
X NXT - 1st SMS-to-NXT gateway reward

So up to 8.5M could be spend for the infrastructure, not necessarily 1M.
Can you estimate if our current servers are enough to handle 1000TPS? Do we need a lot more servers or are we fine with current levels? I want us to be efficient with NXT usage, but I want to make sure the network can handle the 1000TPS. That sounds like a really good number

If we can determine the cost of supporting 1000TPS, then we can allocate the funds ahead of time and even get ready to ramp up the servers, but only deploy them as the TPS actually starts climbing. This way, we can grow the NXT network most cost effectively.

Once we have that budgeted, then we can see what other costs the NXT community can reach consensus on.

James

good point, take into account the amount of VPS we have running on NXT fund, how long can we maintain them.

I remember there was some kind of war chest but can not find it.

We risk if we do not maintain them they will be shut down one by one, so I would like to have view on that

sure, warchest is here:
