On March 21st, there were 2407 MNs.

Today there are 2174 active MN. I haven't seen such drop in the number of active MNs for a while. Any ideas what's going on, aside the people selling to lock in the profit. (but than, that would go against the idea of a Masternode)

Is this a result of Proof of Work, Even just posted?

It's mainly because of the recent update... the count always goes down until people find the time to do the update AND those Masternodes are listed again.

Look at this graph and guess when the last 3 updates happened:

I got it, thank you for assuaging my fear. My worries were premature anyway - at the moment, only an hour or so later, the MN count is 2411 which is for 4 more than on March 21st data which alarmed me.

Happy again Smiley

POLITICAL MESSAGE & INTERLUDE

As the current board of the DASH foundation are due to resign on their second anniversary, I would like to announce my candidacy for election to the board.

In particular, I would like to stand for Weights & Measures.

Beer, Babes and Boobs (sorry Mrs. Robinson), will be on every meeting agenda and minuted.  Everything else will be AOB.

As Ron Paul has announced he will be accepting Bitcoin donations for his election campaign, I too will be accepting donations of DASH.  If we raise 2,000 DASH, I will be throwing a pre-election Masked Vicars and Tarts party. In the spirit of openness, the party will be filmed and put on PornHub.

Remember to Vote: Coins101, he's our man, if anyone can, Coins can.

Don't forget to establish a PAC that would get donations in Monero.

hello  0.01

Without your contribution, this thread just would not be the same.

I asked the same question on Dashtalk but it seems there are more people here - so you guys that are on both forums, forgive the redudancy>

My new Dash wallet installer placed it into Program Files / Dash. Alas, when I run it, all associated files - including but not limited to wallet.dat | peers.dat | database folder | db.log | blocks folder | chainstate folder | dash.conf appear on Desktop?

Just be noted that this question was supported in https://dashtalk.org/threads/11-2-dash-release.4515/page-3#post-49155 , Thanks.

Yes, thank you man. I did not see this post earlier, sorry.

Thank you for letting us know!  I posted your comments on the testing forum and I'll email Evan in a second (which anyone can do btw)  Looks like a hiccup with packaging.

Can you re-locate those to the correct location?  Or is the program actually running within the files set on the desktop?  (I mean does it follow the path to the desktop instead of AppData/Roaming...etc...?)

A new user on Dashtalk.org (https://dashtalk.org/members/thelazier.2745/) helped me with this one. I created c:\dashdata folder and updated shortcut to
"C:\Program Files\Dash\dash-qt.exe" -datadir=c:\dashdata and now all is working. (thanks again thelazier, if you're here)

I suspect I created the whole mess that is most likely in registry. When the first (not mandatory) wallet was released, I changed the target directory to desktop. Even though I un-installed it and deleted what I could, the new (mandatory) wallet was creating the mess I described.

One day I'll have my geeks take a look, but now I travel overseas and am hopeless Smiley

I think vertoe did not remember dumping 20-30k DRK a few days ago which made him 60-80 k€.
He is acting like a small boy whining, very unprofessional for a man who made more money out of nearly nothing than others who have to work hard a full decade for such a profit.

A gentleman goes away without any word and enjoy instead of whining.
He made so much money with drk ( before with ltc ) and is able to invest in other projects.
All you need to make money is money - so he should be thankfull each day to evan.

Very poor he is acting right now.

I understand this is your personal view, which I respect,  but I don't believe we as a community smearing an individual is either productive or professional and it leads to negativity.   IMHO

This!

Also, what's the point of escalating? Every single one of us has a right to her or his decisions, occasional emotional reactions etc., but to antagonize someone who:
a) had greatly contributed  to the project we still believe in;
b) has a lot of insight / knowledge about it (i.e. could turn into a formidable enemy, "friends make best enemies" principle) is not smart.

Just my 2 cents.

Positive note... This has created the opportunity to buy more masternodes.  I'm putting up another 10 this week.... Yes.  I might wait for further drop though... Let's see what happens.

Really? Some $45K ++ into it, just like that, when the price movement is not clear at all?

I am not doubting you, I am in awe.

Sometimes... Reading some of the posts on here,  I just think to myself... There is no hope for humanity.  The breath of shallow thought on here and vision as well as common sense seems to elude this place..

Edit: Not u Tao Wink

Come on, man, there is hope, Kafka says, but not for us Smiley
Kidding aside, one day we'll all evolve - along the lines of Kurzweill singularity - into a machine and happily trade in Dash.

Vertoe trolling to try and buy back in since he dumped his stash when it was half the current price?

Too bad buddy...one day you may think I just threw millions down the drain because I made an emotional split second decision without thinking.

Edit: Any may I also add, nothing has changed except the name, the tech, the vision has only gotten better and focused toward growing for the better. You were just cut because you were not personally consoled by Evan...

I would not be as dismissive to a developer who had put endless hours into a project you hope will make you (or any of us) "a millionaire" and call vertoe's explanation about what happened "trolling" just like that.

One thing is for sure, the branding discussions will remain with us for a long time yet  Grin

I see nothing wrong in accepting these guys have right. It looks better if "A" is clearly defined. No one's crown would fall if this tiniest of all tweaks would be done...

It's just that windows hides the folder.  Actually, so does Linux

If you click on start (lower left of screen) then type in the "search programs and files" at the very bottom, and type into that box %AppData% you will see a folder pop up on top that says Roaming, click on that and you will find your DarkCoin folder.  I prefer to duplicate everything (rather than rename things just in case)  So if you have started your dash wallet once already, you will have a Dash folder there.  Open your DarkCoin folder and copy everything, paste it into your new Dash Folder, or create a Dash folder and dump it in there.  Now all you have to do is rename darkcoin.conf to dash.conf and you are finished Smiley  AND you won't have to resync everything Smiley

It's not your program folder, it's in you user profile.

Thanks. Alas, Roaming folder does not contain Dash. Darkcoin folder (in Roaming) does not contain darkcoin.conf file...

Not the best job, but you get the idea, I hope Cheesy

What's wrong, I tried png then jpg...

My Dash folder is in C:\Program Files\Dash but does NOT contain dash.conf file. Not even my DarkCoin folder, that is in AppData \ Roaming contains darkcoin.conf file...

1355  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW, Darksend and InstantX on: March 28, 2015, 07:50:05 AM

Thanks. Funnily enough, my Darkcoin folder (that is in Program Files (x86) => Darkcoin does not contain darkcoin.conf. (not even peers.dat or wallet.dat both of which are in another folder, with Masternode data). I have no idea what I was doing, for I have darkcoin-qt.exe and a shortcut on desktop.

Now I dread touching anything Smiley

No no, the file we're talking about is in C:\User\AppData\DarkCoin or Dash   If you don't see AppData, you'll have to set windows explorer to view hidden files Smiley

I am not very smart and n00b at that but something must be wrong on my end. All what oblox or you say is so simple and it should work like a charm, but it does not.

Both approaches had started a new Dash wallet syncing the blockchain no matter what.

Also, what drives me insane (and is most likely a result of my stupidity when I tried to installed Dash wallet for the first time - I changed the folder to Desktop. Once all these folders, Database/ blocks etc... started to pop up on my desktop I, always OCD-ed, stopped, unistalled Dash, removed all files I was able to see and re-install it as the installation wanted me to do. Now, whatever I do, all that stuff is appearing on the desktop again, which creates another level of OCD induced madness attack etc. Smiley

The bottom line, nothing's working here.
1356  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW, Darksend and InstantX on: March 28, 2015, 06:35:24 AM
Does the DRK wallet still work for dash??

Yes, it's the same blockchain and address pool.
Thanks for info

So it seems I could just send my Darkcoins from local wallet to a new Dash wallet, also on a local machine and that would be it?

...or, just rename the darkcoin data folder to dash, your darkcoin.conf to dash.conf and drop in the wallet.dat file from darkcoin in there and then load the new dash qt/daemon executable. It goes without saying to do this with the client/daemon closed.

Thanks. Funnily enough, my Darkcoin folder (that is in Program Files (x86) => Darkcoin does not contain darkcoin.conf. Your folder containing those files is hidden.

Since you are on windows, go to start and in the search box type "%appdata%" and click on roaming. You should see a darkcoin folder. Rename that to dash (again, when the wallet isn't running). Open up the newly renamed folder and rename your darkcoin.conf to dash.conf (you may or may not have one). Update any shortcuts as needed but the new default datadir is the dash folder that you just renamed your old datadir to (so no need to worry about redownloading the blockchain as it will be at the same height it was prechange).

Thank you for helping. I do not have darkcoin.conf in DarkCoin folder there (AppData => Roaming => DarkCoin) but it seem I can do what you say nevertheless?

Correct. Just rename the Darkcoin folder in roaming to Dash and run the new dash-qt.exe (it will know to look to the roaming/dash folder for your wallet.dat, peers.dat, etc).

It still has to sync with the blockchain...

Unless it has to, I either am doing something wrong or did something wrong earlier. Darkcoin folder in roaming is renamed. I updated old Darkcoin shortcut and ran it, so it started to sync with the blockhain. Just in case, for I am a n00b, I closed the client and started it again by clicking on dash-gt.exe i.e. no shortcut (dash-qt.exe is on desktop, not in a new Dash folder for old darkcoin-gt.exe was also where)

...

Damn Smiley
