I downloaded the new dash client but then my old darkcoin client has my coins in it.  They don't show in the new dash client.  Can I simple send the coins to a generated dash client address?

Yes, some like to rename the folder and copy the wallet but thats how I do it, have 2 roaming folders, 1 for darkcoin and 1 for dash.
Tip: If you create a config file called dash.conf and only place listen=0 inside it, you can now run both wallets concurrently hot, now you can watch the coins being transfered over, and as added bonus copy and paste for addresses will work as well.

My new Dash wallet installer placed it into Program Files / Dash. Alas, when I run it, all associated files - including but not limited to wallet.dat | peers.dat | database folder | db.log | blocks folder | chainstate folder | dash.conf appear on Desktop?

Hey guys - I contacted the author of this article https://medium.com/@eordano/we-need-more-coinjoin-c7fefd12dc5e on coinjoin and asked him if he had looked into Darkcoin/Dash. He did respond but I'm not sure if I can link him to any whitepapers right now on our anonimity seeing as they are maybe out of date since the last few updates and don't include masternode blinding etc?

darkcoin is like an old conservative company with strong hierarchical comamnd structures and a single person on the top of the pyramid.

the core devs were just a bunch of volunteers exploited for the big thing.

the things going on here are fishy, intransparent and rely on a single entity.

Thank you for letting us know!  I posted your comments on the testing forum and I'll email Evan in a second (which anyone can do btw)  Looks like a hiccup with packaging.

Can you re-locate those to the correct location?  Or is the program actually running within the files set on the desktop?  (I mean does it follow the path to the desktop instead of AppData/Roaming...etc...?)

The rebranding made it clear there is no fundamental tech or branding.  It all changes on One Dude's whims.

Darkcoin is whatever Evan does.  That's why vertoe left and nobody will replace him, much less Evan.  Bus Factor = 1.
