There is surprisingly little end to the pride of many BTCers re: the first mover advantage. They quote TCP/IP was first and is still indispensable, but forsake Altavista and many other examples in the user layer. I don't claim to know the answer but not hedging the bets is folly, especially concerning how easy it is.

210 mil

Well played Sir Smiley

I will need to think of another Royal Holiday Fund gift idea

James Daniel had actually also thought of it as a gift, to Bitnation Founder Susanne Tarkowski Tempelhof, called "chief unicorn" between friends.

HE The Prince of Soul bids 150 mil and James Daniel raises 175 mil.
1344  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Kingdom - 1991 Retro Virtual World(City) on: December 16, 2015, 07:00:23 PM

It is Quaid's wish, and no doubt the duke's as well, that the buyer of the unicorn take good care of such a noble animal.

With much recognition to the esteemed duke, the auction is resumed, and the end is pushed to wednesday, 21 GMT.

Edit: please reply to this thread with your bids. Reserve price is 30mil.

Roo bids 35mil for the Unicorn.

James Daniel bids 100 mil.

(I almost decided to let this one slip but 35 mil is just so ridiculous a price for the best horse possible in the game. I am so old to have seen 320 mil bid on a NPC; and there are 20 NPC in level N9 and only 4 horses in level H9. Unicorns are also presumed to be immortal.)

During the ceremony in the castle and the premises, a strange spirit of Great Green Things possessed us...

Quote
Do not underestimate CAN. It grows like a weed, but it is good for man. And the time will come when people eat white pills that kill them and do not turn to CAN that would save them. And ABS tastes bad, but there is wisdom.

The imports of CAN have been increased to allow everyone to build large stocks. Each day, 10,000*CAN will be imported by the Provider (Mooo playing Town). They will always be put to market at below the currently best ask. Only when CAN price drops below 1,500 m, will the daily amount be cut to half, and in no event will new CAN come to market at below 1,000 m.

ABS already exists and Town has listed 400 bottles for sale at 300,000 m per bottle. This is a special price with limited quantity 20 bottles per character. Trespasses will be reversed and penalized by Sheriff Mooo.

  • 1 units of AYA given to JamesDaniel 158 - as he is keen on wisdom, the most valuable wisdom-gaining potion seems an appropriate gift.

The First Official Ceremony of AYA - Collective, but Everyone Consumes Their Own

Until the end of 1618, all AYA consumed (1/char) participates in gaining Wisdom not gainable by other means.

(Wisdom will be introduced as part of the Skills module, and be the other pillar (CUL being the other) of Character High Score)

Marquess of White Cross checks the consumes and records them in his White Book for future use.

The Introduction of James Daniel

- The King has distributed 190/500 of the HM1600J commemorative coins to almost all the characters in the game, 1-5 coins to each (markup-only)
- The Marquess of Tavastia has minted a coin ZE1600T to commemorate the birth of my son, it reads "IACOBUS DANIEL ZECHARIAH IOHANNES". 27/50 is distributed to the best guys in the Kingdom.

The lad, Jungherr James Daniel Zechariah John, has spent his early years with Mother, learning all wisdom and growing to be a strong young man. This introduction ceremony was delayed until he was 18, and he seemed to be OK with it (big brother Zechariah was introduced at 14 years old, in 1450). James Daniel's character is peaceful in the same way as Zechariah's (unlike the King), but he is also wise in the way as the King (unlike Zechariah), and handsome (unlike either).

JamesDaniel char_id=158 and he has received the usual Royal House introduction gift of 5*HM021000B (and 500 mil for "necessities", since the gold is not for spending just for income). In addition, King gave him 10*CR1605E a rare coin. Zechariah gifted WOS-107 a plain blue noble suit of 1551 cloth, which James Daniel wore in the ceremony. The ceremony was attended by family and friends only, being somewhat close in time with the 250th birthday of the King which was a more magnificent occasion.

James Daniel wants to live a peaceful life and has been planning to join the military to protect it for others as well. He does not currently have a house of his own, nor any items or anything so whoever wants to make friends with him, gifts are appreciated.

The Royal Holiday Fund of James Daniel for the Development of the Game

HM The King has donated 182*HM1600J to the Fund, and HRH Archduke Zechariah, the Prince Royal of Crypto Kingdom, etc. etc. has given the remaining 12*ZE1600T collectible coins commemorating James Daniel birth in 1600, to be the Initial Donation Capital of the Fund (2,060 CKG total).

Joint mission statement:

We are now at the end of the narrow path that has lead our Kingdom this far, with the road branching and getting wider. The development is in the final phases of making our Ultima software ready to accept hundreds of new players, and admins are taking the lead in developing their processes and scripted events to accommodate and integrate the new players as well. Many things need to be done, and while none of the remaining issues is large or difficult, there are many of them, and meticulous attention to the tasks is demanded from not only the Gamemaster and the Lead Dev, but also from many other contributors who together can make the game ready much more quickly and ensure its success by being the backbone of the community. By the Grace of God, we intend to spend the initial donations to the Fund before the year 1620 is over (by the end of holidays) by giving them as tokens of appreciation to all contributors. The first recognition of 10*HM1600J goes to Dame Roopatra, the Marchioness of Neverland, Councillor, etc., for the excellent posts related to the Health Challenge. Roopatra is also nominated the Executor of the Fund, deciding about the rewards and giving them out.

Contributions to the Fund in the form of fungible collectible gold coins can be sent to "158" as well.

The admins are leading the "final touches" collectively in the Town Mgmt repository (googleDB). The posts asking others to contribute will appear in the development thread.

You seem to have missed the year 1617 totally, which did all the damage mentioned.

It looks like there was a lot of COMSUME commands on sunday, and I reckon this was a late attempt at the health challenge before it ends, which was done just too late, after it ended. The previous health challenge had ended on a monday. Is this something that could be automated, so there is a steady end date so people know when they have to be finished ?

Sure. Just let's agree on the time. I propose UTC time midnight not that it was good for me but it's easiest to remember.
1349  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Kingdom - 1991 Retro Virtual World(City) on: December 15, 2015, 08:59:51 PM
My remark was never really answered: despite succeeding with putting all health challenges to date to "None", my overall health went from "Good" to "Decent". If it was a bug it would be nice to have it revert. If it was not a bug, would be nice to get confirmation that it was not a bug and get some light on this specifically?

You seem to have missed the year 1617 totally, which did all the damage mentioned. There is no record of consuming anything that year. If you are sure you did consume, there could of course have been a fleeting bug that nobody else noticed. I think you could have managed to put in to zero in about 20 million, which I can also take in exchange for giving the health back. (This kind of situation was normally covered in the script mentioned above, but slipped my notice since the other years were ->None.)

Town Presents His Majesty the King with ART

We thank you for the wonderful gift and look forward to the 200th anniversary of the founding of CryptoTown (230th of TMA Corporation of the Town of CryptoTown) in 1630.

The Royal House will dole out 2,000 liters of BEER to the poor and needy, according to their pleas in the IRC channel today!
1351  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Kingdom - 1991 Retro Virtual World(City) on: December 15, 2015, 01:24:42 PM
important gamemaster update
Evaluation of Public Health

We have now had 3 health challenges and the 4th is underway.

First - there are sad news: the following characters have died:

40 Master Quentin Moon
53 Foreign Investor 1
72 Munny
85 shadowalker
104 Mariaherza

The Royal House sends a great thank you to all the supporters of Crypto Kingdom, and a big hug to the relatives.

Upon death, 2 mil are collected by the Town for funeral expenses. The player can still log into the estate to manage its affairs until the "sweep deadline" which is 17. January 2016. At that time, unclaimed accounts will be swept by the Town and used for marketing. Estate characters (those of dead people) can be played as if they were corporations and are subject to same rules. For those willing to continue play, below we give information how to start new characters, to whom the assets of the previous ones can be transferred.

The state of health of other characters who have grossly neglected their health challenges (presumed due to ignorance) is restored to an approximate state assuming health had been tended as it should. Also the costs have been collected.

ADD: Due to reasons of semi-automated script, It was not possible to take individual circumstances into account but roughly. The health value and its cost are final, but if you are in a difficulty, many rich characters can help you out.

Town will now activate itself to notify and educate all characters about how to maintain their health. The very/most/ancient characters are a great asset to the game (and their owners) going forward, and we hope as many as possible can be saved. While death is presumed to be an eventuality for all, the example of many active characters proves that aging can be halted by nimble playing of health challenge, and it is not even that expensive!

If your character "m" account (money) is negative after these forced withdrawals, you have this week to remedy the situation by depositing (ask for deposit details from HH The Duke of Ramsey / BCT:saddambitcoin), or selling your assets. The Bailiff will start next week and she will liquidate your property perhaps not in the same order as you would have liked. Withdrawals are enabled against sufficient proof that you are the account owner. BCT accounts are regarded as sufficient proof until 17. January 2016, after which only activated CK accounts count.

Action in the food and wine markets

Many wines of the early 1600s have reached their peak and are now declining in taste and health effects as well. When a wine declines to 8/20 or less in taste, it is in danger of being removed from consumables and becomes a "collectible" (useless) item instead.

Much money was collected from the 40 characters who claimed their account but did not do health challenge in 1615-1617. A part of this is now sent to Resta pool (in gamemaster command) with the intention to delayed-buy the products that failed to be consumed. This will give a perfect opportunity for large wineholders to unload their excess stock, especially as hopefully all those characters will now be buying their own, and hungryMob also has 750 mil/year to buy MEAT, FOIE, BEER, wines, spirits and wisdom.

ADD: W1616 is in conversion and it is possible to consume it right away. The import tax (10,000 m/btl) will be collected only when the conversion period ends, so the wine consumed during the period (until end of year) is tax-free.

Statistics about current health kingdom-wide

Excellent: 18
Good: 18
Decent: 31
Weak: 32
Ailing: 6

Each health bracket is 2000 HP. If a character is in "weak" health to begin with, and takes his healthChallenge to "moderate" every year, it will take him anything between 7-35 years to die. Untreated health challenges, on the other hand, kill the character rather quickly, which is an intended feature to get rid of (bot)farmed characters.

What cryptocurrencies do you accept on your game?!

The ingame economy works on moneretos (m), which you can buy for yourself by depositing XMR to user: saddambitcoin. The moneretos can be used to buy other items ingame.

It is also possible to acquire game items directly from their owners and negotiate the payment in any (crypto)currency.

HE TMA Prince of Soul, High Rector of the University, Colonel, RT-K, etc.

Celebrates his 250th Birthday (1611) with the revealing of the Most Excellent Work of Art:

"Christ coming with all his Angels to sit on the Throne of Judgement"

with 25*CKG

The painting covers the roof of the lobby of the Ancient Violin Museum in 1-NE-T3, which also hosts several other Works of ART. (Violin Museum is next to Ancient Jubilee Theatre in Culture Square.

1*DOM is consumed in the ceremony, with all the other participants encouraged to drink their own. In addition, 3*CLXII have been gifted on random to the people present: HE The Honorary Chancellor Cryptoluna, Sir Riddick and Ecclesiastical Lord Callixtus.

Syksy will create the item. 246*IC, and 1*CH1600Y have been paid already.
1354  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Kingdom - 1991 Retro Virtual World(City) on: December 14, 2015, 01:57:36 PM
"This is a painting of Baron Syksy Syyskuu in a blue suit on the eve of his 40th birthday and ennoblement in 1613. He is sitting on a bench at the Barons' Row Street, gracefully holding his pregnant wife Ester with their daughter Eleanor sitting on his lap. The street is covered with a beautiful palette of colorful autumnal leaves."

I will be happy to create such pieces for others as well, so please contact me with details if you wish to create ART-XX according to HM's instructions.

Please Dear Lord Syksy, create one for me as well:

K9 - 500 IC - painting "Unfettered Gold Trading is the Basis of Free Society and the Dread of Tyrants" (short name: Gold Trading Bicentenary)

Dated: 1618

Oil on Hemp Canvas, Triptych

The motif of the painting is the usual heroic style:

Left: HH Saddam of Ramsey on Mahogany desk overlaid with silver coins with a bag of CAN, (Earl) Riddick and Gabriel in full armor paying homage from both sides.

Center: King in 200 CKG purple royal suit, half-reclining on his throne consuming SHI and W1600M with a pile of HM02Bxxx(x/x) gold bars in front of him and 3 cupids playing with the bars.

Right: HSH The Duke of OZ in sick bed with Dame Roopatra serving him SWx from gold cups, The Magus Zenon and the Grim Reaper fencing on the background with Zenon having the upper hand.

Building is Coming!

RWWC has produced a lot of windows to stock and decided the price of WIRS to be lowered to 160k. This is not that much more than building a solid wall of stone btw...

But not only that, to get the ball rolling and lift themselves out of the cashflow crisis, a batch of 5000*WIRS can be had for as low as 140k, and another 5000 is listed at 150k!! (WIRS in item_type WIN). (For a normal-nice building, you need 200-500 WIRS per 1,000 sqm, and building 1,000 sqm costs you 300-500 mil.)

The building labor also does not want to be without work. They are enlisting themselves for work as follows: 1 * S-BLD item costs 10 mil and they can be bought from Labor (S-BLD in item_type ST). Every year that Building is not enabled, the prepaid labor will increase in value by 2%. Starting from the year after the Building is enabled, the unused S-BLD will decrease in value by 2% annually. So if you are anxious of waiting for Building to start, why not lock-in a 2% per week until your wish is fulfilled, kind a win-win, no?  Wink

Towards 1618

The game is moving to its 4th year with a health challenge. During these years, many improvements have been added and bugs ironed out. Most recent nice feature is the Favorite Items on top of the Agora categories listing. You can add your own favorites by clicking the stars in any listings, and the new items will automatically appear there regardless of their item type, so you always have the chance to acquire them.

All usual Year Change procedures have been carried out.

IC spent in 1618 will go to:

- sums divisible with 30 -> 4*TS161 silver coin 12 CKS, per each 30 IC (+town coin) note CS1618E 5 CKS is for sale by Coinshop at 1.05 mil

- sums 100IC or more, not divisible by 30 ==> Creation of new Works of Art according to your specification (see below)

- sums less than 100IC, and not divisible by 30 ==> 12*W1616 wine per IC

It is finally possible to create Works of Art (ART-xx items). Rules are as follows:
- K7 = 100*IC, K8 = 200*IC, K9 = 500*IC, K10 = 1000*IC (you basically decide how magnificent the piece is)
- Default year is 1618 but backdating is possible. Backdating may go to earliest 1600, and costs 3% per year compounded (base_ic_cost*1.03^(current_year-item_year). If you are seeking to create an early-1600 ART item, it makes sense to do it asap since 3% per week is an excellent return on investment and it will just get more and more expensive in the future. Items dated 1599 and earlier are Ancient and new ones may never be created.
- Admins will create these unique items for you.

Only 21 ART exist in the whole Kingdom! Make yours! Smiley

Borough 22 is forming. Already 53 * S-B22 have been given out based on the last week's challenge (SCI). Check the thing out from the Challenge OP.

Now, what we seek are human sacrifices. The challenge to integrate a connecting borough to the town is much greater than just starting a freestanding one. Everyone consuming high-class NPC to be permanently part of the project, will get the payoff in S-B22 shares according to the following table. One PC may consume only one of each type of NPC:

- Anyone in level N7 or higher, 1 * S-B22
BUT-7
CHEF-3
MAJ
MGR-3
SPE-3
BUT-8
CHEF-4
LTC
MGR-4
SPE-4
BUT-9
CHEF-5
COL
MGR-5
SPE-5
- The following NPC in other levels, 1 * S-B22
AR-3
ASS-3
BUT-4
COOK-3
MSG
BUT-5
BUT-6
SPE-2

So it is possible to get maximum 23 shares if you consume one of each. The challenge should be easy for admin (Moneromooo) since the manual resolution involves having a PC:NPC matrix with only 2 possible states for each cell. The attempt to cheat by consuming several of the same will be detected and will have no benefit.

Auction for a magnificent level 9 gold unicorn

It is with much sadness in his heart that Quaid, realizing that his health was declining due to his small means, resolved to sell his most prized possession. Indeed, many a high ranking noble would do... almost anything to have in their possession that most magnificent of beasts, a fully trained gold unicorn.

Determined to not let this heartache be in vain, Quaid sets a minimum price of 30mil, with the tacit understanding that a worthy price lies much higher, and proclaims the auction will end on monday evening, at 21 GMT, as many a town inhabitant already comes to admire the noble animal following Quaid with a majestic step.

Note that this auction automatically becomes null and void if the player behind Quaid contacts us to claim his character before the end of the auction.

How did such a lowly character gain such a valuable beast?

1359  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 12, 2015, 07:52:08 AM
Have a plan. Stick to it.

yeah well... The thing is the big holders are "trapped" in a sense. I mean, cashing out even a few k now doesn't really make sense. If anything, this downtrend makes me a stronger holder and will probably sell LESS when it goes back to 0.004+ BTC

On the other hand, big holders such as me never had more than 10% of kitty invested in XMR anyway. So after other investments did better, XMR share is less than 5%, perhaps just a few %.

Some of the big holders may operate on a speculative investment paradigm, which means that they seek to "gain" from the exchange rate appreciating against something else (typically BTC, USD or EUR). But I am quite certain that most of us don't care about that too much. XMR is valuable on its own right, and its value is not based on its exchange rate, and will not be until the exchange rate is much higher ($100s per XMR min).

Anyone who has a few million$ to invest does not really have the urgency to "cash a few k" out from their most promising but least performing investment. Before we enter into such investments we make the decision that most probably it is going down anyway and we lose all the money invested (and invest the appropriate % accordingly).

I do not believe Monero is going down, but its exchange rate is quite dormant. (In EUR terms, it is actually still 80% higher than the low point a year ago - 0.40 vs. 0.22.) This is a good time to just hold, or add to the position to match the inflation. Of course if one wants to help Monero to grow, it is possible to become active or even full-timer in some Monero related projects, of which Crypto Kingdom is the most prominent currently Smiley

Maybe it's your health manager who was helping. Smiley
