250 MB is too much for the mix of source code, some dependencies and .exe. All of that is not necessary. We need clean goldcoin source only.

Remove subfolders:

BuildDeps
RunDeps

from github sources.

We have this: https://github.com/goldcoin/gldcoin/tree/barerepo

Is that okay? I think some people might want the dependencies and others not. This way we have both.
1347  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Psycho Bomber: Buying a Glock with Bitcoin Was 'Like Buying Bar of Chocolate' on: July 29, 2015, 09:41:47 PM

(UK) — The fate of Liam Lyburd, 19, a deranged teen hacker accused of planning a mass murder at his former college in Newcastle, is now in the hands of a jury.

The crypto teen pleaded guilty to nine charges related to making five pipe bombs, two home-made explosive devices, possessing a handgun, bullets and CS gas. He denies eight charges of possessing those items with an intent to endanger life at Newcastle College.

Lyburd, a talented hacker, used the digital currency Bitcoin to buy the 9mm Glock gun on the Deepweb – a dark and secret part of the internet not visited by normal law abiding citizens. Yesterday, during his trial, the defendant, who claims to be an internet troll, stated:

"Buying a gun was just like buying a bar of chocolate. I didn’t see it as a big deal at the time. I never thought I would get arrested, I thought I would keep it in my bedroom. No one would ever know."

Police were alerted by an online friend of the teenager who grew concerned about his Facebook posts. The crazed computer nerd allegedly laughed when he initially told officers his plans for getting revenge on his former college classmates.

"I wanted people to panic a little bit,” he said. “I wanted people to be tearing their hair out, thinking I was going to do it."

Officers found a ‘kill bag’ stocked with an array of homemade bombs and a Glock handgun, which prosecutors said he planned to use in carrying out a brutal revenge attack. In a note, he wrote how he intended to ‘teach you people a little lesson on respect’ with his bullets, the court also heard. The jury is expected to deliver its verdict this week.

1349  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is your dream for bitcoin? What will it become? on: July 29, 2015, 04:44:26 AM
I'd like to hear some opinions about bitcoin here, and please go into as much detail as you can.

Where is bitcoin going?

What will it become?

Bitcoin is going where the community takes it ...

My observation is that it's becoming less and less community driven, and that alarms me. Thank god for this forum, because many other popular venues are basically just exercises in cheerleading, with critical discussion frowned upon.

I think it still has a chance, but let's not forget it has over 1000 competitors.

We are still having a problem with the slowness of the new wallet and the developer has never gotten back to me about this problem.

it may be fine for solo mining but under stress it's very slow.

regards

Thanks for that MicroGuy Smiley

Lets hope we get onto some more exchanges soon.

Cryptsy is the gold standard of altcoin exchanges but it would be nice to have GLD on another exchange or two.

We have a paid position open for the role if anyone is interested: https://www.gldtalk.org/index.php?topic=3186.0

EDIT: The Cryptsy Goldcoin wallet is now out of maintenance mode and ready for your pleasure!  Cheesy

Is Cryptsy going to dump GLD??

I have been unable to deposit GLD for days.  Does anyone know whats up ?

As I mentioned a little earlier, anytime a coin has a fork, Cryptsy puts the wallet into maintenance mode.

I'm in contact today with the Cryptsy technical team and they're in the process of updating their gateway wallet to the latest version.

This is not in the wrong section?

We're announcing a paid worker's program? Which section would you recommend?

There is much more going on than a 51% system, that many orphaned blocks, when large amounts of hash is put on the network is unacceptable. the difficulty does not rise properly when a large amount of hash is put on the network, and i had over 12 hours of stable hashing since GLD was the "most profitable". There are still some issues that need to be resolved IMO. Also i run a headless client on linux, so there is no transactions tab. but i can tell you that i know i am tracking everything properly.

This has been the designed behavior for nearly 2 years. That's why every multi-pool dropped GLD in 2013.

There are plenty of posts about this from Akumaburn both here and on the Goldcoin forum.
1356  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: GoldCoin™ (GLD) Thread - The Gold Standard of Digital Currency [OFFICIAL THREAD] on: July 26, 2015, 10:05:42 PM
Hi
New GLDer here.
I have tried to mine GLD on hash-to-coins for 2-3 hours and received nothing. I expected around 18-27 coins
go to transactions and see how many orphans you had, i have up this coin. not profitable. more than half of your hashrate is wasted.

This is related to Goldcoin's 51% defense system. When large amounts of hashpower are dumped onto the network, Goldcoin's 51% defense system engages. The result is orphans. If you will notice the network hashrate is much lower than the pool's hashrate.

The network hashrate reported by the client is the actual hash power being utilized, the rest is being rejected by the network in the form of orphans. My understanding is that once these large variations in network hashpower subside, so will the orphans.

i see cryptsy in maintenance mode. any other exchanges working?

We asked Cryptsy to put GLD into maintenance mode until 500 blocks past the fork to give us time to assess network functionality.
noob question. whats fork?Smiley and which block is that

A fork is a mandatory update to the network. We asked Cryptsy to put GLD into maintenance during this transition.

I'll get in touch with their support staff and let them know it's okay to turn on the wallet.

Hi.
I downloaded your new wallet goldcoin-0.7.2.0-win32-setup for Windous 7 which was released after the fork.
But why did he require installation? I always use the wallet in a portable mode, through .bat file or label for the removable disk.
This version wallet refuses to work in this mode. Perhaps this is due to the fact that you are using an old Bitcoin protocol version 1.0 or there is any technical limitations for it?

We have a special technical support forum for these types of issues that our developer monitors.

1358  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / CRIME: Police Warn Bitcoin Helping Underage Drinksters Get Buzzed on: July 26, 2015, 01:56:39 AM

Do you ever catch your 12-year-old mumbling words like “blockchain” or “satoshis”? Has your teenage daughter ever arrived home after curfew, stumbling drunk, looking like she’s been rode hard and put up wet?

Police in Darien, Connecticut are warning parents that a new Darknet cryptocurrency called Bitcoin could be to blame. Many young people are now buying high-quality fake IDs online using the deepweb currency. Typically teens are asked to pay between $100 and $200 for the fraudulent fun passes.

In recent weeks, police have confiscated a number of counterfeit IDs, said Sgt. Jeremiah Marron. Many of the fakes are professional quality and nearly indistinguishable from authentic IDs, Marron said.

"Young people and their parents need to realize that obtaining fraudulent identification is a serious crime with potential criminal consequences, although their teenager may only be using a fake ID to buy alcohol or get into a bar, driver’s licenses are official government-issued documents."

Back in the 80’s parents would ask their children to reset the VCR clock, but today’s techno teens are much more advanced, and wise in the ways of the bitcoin.

They Sext with their classmates, Instagram R-rated selfies, and order fake IDs using freshly minted cybertokens they’ve mined on their bedroom PCs.

Those who carry a fake ID could be charged with second-degree forgery, a Class D felony which carries a penalty of up to five years in jail and a $5,000 fine.

1360  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mike Tyson bitcoin ATM on twitter on: July 25, 2015, 08:57:11 PM
is it possible that bicoin price will rise significantly because of this or it wont have any influence, either way its nice to see that he decided to invest into it

If Mike starts actively promoting his Bitcoin ATMs as he makes his usual rounds on the talkshow circuit, yes, the price of Bitcoin will be positively affected.
