Moreover you all need to consider the small miner payout schedule of around 1 week... Something goes wrong you loose whatever you have mined during 1 week in the worst case. I have changed to an Electroneum pool where I get paid to my wallet every hour. Unless Nicehash changes something about that I will definitely not be going back. How do ya all see that? I lost about 90 USD due to this security breach....

Most mining pools that I know have minimum payouts of like $200-300, to reach that I need way longer than a week.

The pool I'm mining XMR on is paying out at 0.3.  My 6 gpu rig is doing over 0.1 per day, so I'm getting paid out roughly every three days.

Jezzus!  Mining on a laptop?  I won't even use a laptop to check my email anymore.  Lol.

I've not had any personal experience with the BioStar boards.  I recall them being mentioned in various articles that I read back when I had no idea what kind of hardware I was going to use.  I'm using an ASUS PRIME Z270-P.  They are around $120 on Amazon.

So far so good.  If you use that one with more than 3 cards, update the bios.  Enable Above 4G Decoding and set the PCIE to Gen2.  I made other changes to the bios, but out of preference.  They weren't necessary to get more than 3 cards working.
1364  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NiceHash hacked? on: December 12, 2017, 12:47:45 AM
anyone who goes back to using nicehash is a moron and deserves to have there coin stolen again, it happened once. it will happen again especially now that people know that nicehash is a good target. doubt there going to be able to pay back 60 to 78 million dollars any time soon, they don't even make that much a year
Shut the fuck up. You're a fucking idiot. Eat a dick.

says the person whos impressed about nicehash. yet they haven't returned a dime yet to there users
I'm sure you'd like to be tried, convicted and punished by a bunch of assclowns in a chat room huh? "Innocent until proven guilty". It's really better that way than yours. Stop acting like some Totalitarian dictator. Maybe.....just maybe, those guys are trying to run an honest business and they are victims too. How would you like to have your business torn apart by criminals and then be accused of the crime? We all make mistakes. Trust me....I make plenty.

Was thinking that seeds would become the new currency a mistake? Lol ... Sorry, couldn't resist.

I'm in total agreement with you on the NH ordeal.  I know people are pissed off that they lost money, but no one really knows who is responsible.  Just a ton of people making unnecessary accusations.

I'll give him $501 ... Lol
1366  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining on Win 10 Monero and XMR on: December 12, 2017, 12:31:13 AM
Hi Guys,
Building my mining rig for monero.
I will be using XMR for mining.

Silly question but has anyone bought Win 10 license on ebay etc.
They sell for like $25 and I am not sure if I should buy one from Ebay.

I know the regular license cost like $100 from MS and authorized seller.

Please let me know.

Thanks

If you can find an old Win7 Pro license that is valid, you can install win7 and upgrade to win10 for free.  I'm not sure about buying license keys on eBay.  I probably wouldn't do it.  I guess if you buy it and it doesn't work, you can file a claim with Paypal to get your money back.
1367  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Looking forward building a 6xGPUs altcoin mining rig on: December 12, 2017, 12:11:51 AM
Hi,

I've been mining with my gaming rig for a few years and it's been a fun way to pay for games and gift cards from various suppliers to order online and now I'm looking forward building a custom mining rig for mining on altcoins pools such as MiningPoolHub and ZCoin.

1) I wanted some advice on what's currently the best bang for the buck rig to start with? Most particularly GPU-wise? I read and heard from friends GTX 1070 were a good spot but I'm pretty sure there's less expensive alternative.

2) Also what do you suggest to use as a rack? I'd like it to be as portable as possible so I can move it somewhere else once it's ready and stable.

3) AMD vs NVIDIA? Is there really a difference performance-wise and money-wise?

Any advice, suggestion or tips are welcome!

Thanks and have a nice day.

1) I wanted some advice on what's currently the best bang for the buck rig to start with? Most particularly GPU-wise? I read and heard from friends GTX 1070 were a good spot but I'm pretty sure there's less expensive alternative.

- There's two things to consider the up-front cost and the power consumption.. 1070's are known to be efficient to run.. in terms of bang for buck what can you get cheap in your local area, wait for Christmas or Boxing day sales and get something 20% off.. use benchmarks to figure out your ROI.. something you're familiar with can lead to less downtime

2) Also what do you suggest to use as a rack? I'd like it to be as portable as possible so I can move it somewhere else once it's ready and stable.

- Anything.. a milk crate.. a shoe rack.. a dish rack with cable ties.. a custom built aluminium or wooden frame with cable ties.. something you buy from ebay..

3) AMD vs NVIDIA? Is there really a difference performance-wise and money-wise?

- Again this can be opinion.. Depends on what you want to mine and what you have been mining, they both have different software.. go with what you know to start with

I just built my first 6 gpu rig last week.  I used six RX Vega 56's.  Soft power play to reduce my wattage from 1375 down to 1100.  Some have flashed the 56 cards with the 64 bios in order to do more power and memory tweaking, but I'm not interested in doing that at this time.  Not sure if it voids the warranty or not.  My rig is running stable and I'm very happy with the total hashrate.  Squeezing out a few more hashes and trading it for instability or voiding the warranty isn't worth it to me.

I bought an aluminum frame off Etsy for $70USD and all you get are the parts and instructions.  Still have to drill the holes yourself.  I'm in the process of building the second rig and ended up just going to a hardware store to buy the supplies I need for the next frame.  You can get everything you need for around $30USD.

1368  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Nicehash miner alternatives? on: December 11, 2017, 11:08:21 PM
Actually there is a really nice Nicehash alternative, have you tried https://www.kryptex.org/?ref=67e89a7b?

Its great and fast to setup, the benchmark detects all similar GPU's and only has to run once unlike Nicehash. There are some downsides like lack of information and your balance is slow to update (every hour but remains 4 hours behind live) but payments are fast and flexible. Kryptex is based in Russia so you do see the Ruble currency alongside your general BTC total but this is not a problem, all I care about is my payouts which I have full control over and I can confirm that there is never any issues. Kryptex is 100% legit and has some real potential.

My daily income is the same as it was on Nicehash.

Fixed it for you ...

1369  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASIC vs GPU on: December 11, 2017, 04:26:55 AM
I am confused as your name and signature suggest you have a background in cloud mining?

If you want to mine bitcoin then you need an Asic machine.

If you are going to mine with GPU you would be looking into some Alt-coins. They may be able to help you with the profitability in the alt coin forum.

Other than that you would need to compare profitability by using different calculators

what is ASIC and GPU,?
and what is different?
i.m not  understand,, please tell mE!

ASIC - Application Specific Integrated Circuit

GPU - Graphics Processing Unit
1370  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASIC vs GPU on: December 11, 2017, 02:13:20 AM
Not sure how much it cost to run ASICs, but I have a 5 GPU rig running RX480s and the cost is roughly $175-$200 USD per month. Which is killing me. Hoping Ethereum price goes up in the near future.

Seriously?  Are you paying 20 some cents per kwh?  My six GPU Vega 56 rig is costing me about 80/mo to run at 10 cents per kwh.
1371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Cheapest Rig Frame Built under $25 and 20 min. on: December 11, 2017, 01:43:37 AM
I use 36" laminated shelves from HomeDepot ($8) and then some 36" long 3/4" square dowels ($3 each)  to built 8x GPU rigs like this:

Yes, the rigs are all in my living quarters during the winter to provide all the heating I need.

But going forward, I'm going to be using mobo's meant for mining like these:

No more riser rigs for me!  Wink

What board is that?  I wrote down the model (or what I thought was the model) from the box that it's sitting on, but apparently that isn't the one.  Just noticed it was a lot wider than the box it's sitting on ... Lol.
1372  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NiceHash hacked? on: December 10, 2017, 01:21:30 AM
Its not easy to hack a system unless there is an inside hand. I bet that one of their staff member has stolen the bitcoins.

One of their employees or someone that one of their employees associate with.
1373  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NICEHASH confirmed - hacked - Any legit alternatives? on: December 10, 2017, 01:17:53 AM
I wonder if Josh Zerlan was behind NiceHash.

Oh, and it's GED, not to be confused with Q.E.D. (re a post above the fold).

They are just too lazy to put periods between the letters.

Nice!  Any issues with that board?  I have been looking at them.

A little self righteous about your views on how many PSU's are the "in thing" aren't we?

I still have rigs with 2 PSU's it doesn't bother me, I have a bunch of rigs with 1600w EVGA T2's as well.

Both of them work PERFECTLY FINE so it doesn't matter WTF you use, just get it built.

2 850's is a lot cheaper, $300 give or take vs $500 for my 1600's. Either one works. More than just one way to do things, just because it's the way YOU do something, doesn't mean everyone else has to adopt it.

I agree with you, i prefer to build my rig 2x PSU's, it doesn't take much more space, make's it alot easier to deal with dual-8pin cards because you have alot more connectors, and is cheaper to go (2x800w cheaper than one 1600w and not counting all the adaptaters you'll have to buy (6pin to 8 converters, Y cables, and so on adding failures points), and i have more confidence in the stability of the power over long run. It even make more sense to me for 8-10 card rigs. Getting server psu's here is really annoying, and it's mostly sold out all the times so....

Keep up the good work OP, go and refine your designs !

an atx psu is more of a failure point there bud if you wanna talk that route, server psu is also made for harsh enviroments, atx psu is not. last I checked using 1 outlet vs 2 is better. btw if you know what your doing with the server psu its not a pain in the butt, its actually quite easy. also dunno where you are looking for those server psu's cause I don't have issues finding them and guess what for much cheaper than an atx of the same wattage, I can pick up a 1500w server psu for about 125 bucks, can you pick up an atx psu for that much, hell no. also 2 psus creates a big failure point if one psu dies depending on which one, gpus or other hardware could be damaged, id much rather have the WHOLE rig shut off, the price you paid for 2x 800w platinum psus, id done picked up 1500w for cheaper than BOTH of of those together, 800w platinum atx psu still going to run you around 80 to 100 bucks. the idea here last I checked is efficiency no? to spend the least amount of money possible while getting the most profit? sound familiar? btw breakout board for hp 1500w server psu is about 15 dollars and then youd need a pico psu which is another 13 dollars, still well below what you would spend on 2x 800w platinum psu's that are fully modular

Yoiu're not running server PSU inside a residential home, one you're trying to live in anyways.

If you buy janky atx psu's yeah, sure i see an issue. I'm willing to bet the farm I'll never have an issue with my EVGA's, and even if I do, I have about a dozen 850's just sitting on the shelf on standby. A good Jew always has at least 2 of everything Smiley

Exactly!  He was starting to sound like he also wears a tinfoil hat in the aluminum shed that he lives in.
1376  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Dev Donation in XMR-STAK on: December 10, 2017, 12:29:23 AM
The developer donation in XMR-STAK says that it is set at 2% and is configurable.  So ... Anyone know how to configure it?
1377  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Cheapest Rig Frame Built under $25 and 20 min. on: December 10, 2017, 12:06:25 AM
poorly thought out design, no place to mount mobo or anything else. that's not a rig frame. at the very least its only a gpu holder at best. good fire starter though since you used wood

Really? Did you know wood is an insulator and is sued in electrical applications because of it?

DERP

its also catches fire real easy, when you go cheap like that and you've got a room full of rigs in your HOUSE, it only takes 1 of them to malfunction in such a way that your whole house goes up in flames potentially putting not just you in danger but others as well. good way to not think of other peoples well being except for yourself

DERP

Fire rated wood.  Problem solved.  There are a lot of things in a persons house that could cause a fire just as easy.  And guess what ... The house is made of wood.  Do you live in an aluminum shed because you're afraid electricity and wood is too much of a risk?  Lol.  Why are you talking to him like he's an idiot?

1378  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NiceHash hacked? on: December 09, 2017, 11:27:56 PM
The way I see it only a retard or someone who wants it to look like a hack keeps 4700 BTC in a hot wallet there's no way any legit company wouldn't have cold storage again either their retarded or wanted this to happen

I'm thinking the same thing.  Wish they had some sort of explanation as to why that much btc was sitting in a hot wallet, even if it is bullshit.
1379  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Why people are using nicehash? on: December 09, 2017, 11:17:57 PM
I'm surprised this thread hasn't begun discussing the hack. Is Nicehash finished?

Probably because there is another thread where people are talking about it.  No one knows if they are finished.  They have said that they are working on restoring service.  Hate that it happened, but for me personally, I only lost $8usd and it forced me to learn how to mine singles.  I'm loving it.
1380  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Offloading Monero on: December 09, 2017, 04:34:53 PM
Honestly I avoid both Bittrex and Poloniex , alot of people had problems with them (long wait time/poor support , force closing coins etc)

I use HitBTC they have monero (never had problems with them , everything smooth  Wink )

What do you consider a long wait time?
