Sucks.
1362  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Find Trendon Shavers in person thread... [BTCST, BTS&T, pirateat40] on: July 24, 2013, 06:18:32 PM
Your first sentence is the mistake. Centralization always leads to less efficient systems everywhere (not just socially but also in engineering and in mathematics).

Which is why your suparefficient cooking stove is distributed all over your habitat in little cubic millimeter bits. Much more efficient than a cubic meter central stove in a central location called the kitchen. Also that's why "central heating" is not heard of but "distributed heating" is a thing.

Well done, a Bitcoin expert is you. Try and get a central nervous system sometime. I hear they have real cheap ones in Mathematics. Or Engineering.
1363  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How to apply pressure to Mt. Gox to pay up. on: July 24, 2013, 06:17:08 PM
Start calling reporters who have written stories about Bitcoin. Call Forbes, the Wall Street Journal, and Bloomberg BusinessWeek.

Great story. "I have made astronomical profit but must wait three months for my money." Do you expected charity? Such things are common for high-risk investments. But yes, people think about Bitcoin as if it had been invented by Jesus Christ. So maybe it's worth trying.

Are you personally stupid or just ESL-stupid?

I'm actually quite surprised at the backlash in this thread. I'd like to think of the OP's post as an "interest guage" to what could be done not necessarily a definitive answer as to how to handle the current Mt. Gox situation.

The main thing here is doing something. It doesn't matter if you have made astronomical profit or not, Mt. Gox doesn't have the right to be handling things in the way they are. Answers will slowly be demanded and if they aren't given, pressure is going to build to a point where people start doing something. Starting with a small claim where they are based in the US is a good way to get some attention.

(also from what it sounds like, not many people responding have 10's of thousands stuck in withdrawal)

You're new. Take the time to search this forum for "doing something".

Also there's a reason no major player is dumb enough to have 10s of k's stuck in withdrawal. That reason is more of the history you don't know.
1364  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Theymos: What the fuck is up with BFL and TradeFortress? on: July 24, 2013, 06:10:21 PM
Bull crap. I will defend TradeFortress until I die. Not a scammer. Legit. CoinChat is legit. Inputs.io is legit. Ripple scam is legit. Glados.cc is legit. TradeFortress is legit. 'Nuff said.

BFL is not a scam. They only take years to release miners. It keeps the price from changing dramatically.

You sir, are a moron.

Meanwhile the ripple scam is blowing over, and the despicable shill that started this entire thread is much less vocal. So I guess we can forget about this for now, until MrShills find some new shady "business" to push much to the amusement of non noobs.
1365  Economy / Securities / Re: [PicoStocks] 100TH/s bitcoin mine [100th] on: July 23, 2013, 10:32:25 PM
I still estimate at least 10 - 12 business days before I start to see hardware landing over here.

I think this is good news, but I just have to get a cheap point in because someone else will in either case:

So, you're ready in two weeks, eh?

.b

We're working real hard over here, yes.  Trying to land a 1 year project on the 'X' is not an insignificant undertaking.

You need to dust off the bAsic script. Simply copy/pasting nonsense from last year's iteration of the "failed project" scam to this year's iteration of the "failed project" scam doesn't really cut it. (Not in the sense that there aren't a bunch of last month's crop of noobs to not know any better and post their "opinions" on the matter, obviously.)
1366  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How to apply pressure to Mt. Gox to pay up. on: July 23, 2013, 10:31:28 PM
How about flying over and running naked through their office wearing only an ammunition belt, a plethora of guns taped to several limbs, an RPG slung across the back and a raging hardon? That should work.

The last one is probably the important one. The armament pales in importance to the erection and can be done without.

If someone does this you'll be a NPC in S.MG's GTA too.

With them under oath, under penalty of perjury. "We have a backlog processing withdrawals" has zero value as a defense in court.

Yeah, because you'd know what has and hasn't value in court and how much of it. Because this is the lolcourt of lolpublic lolpinion.

IMO MPOE-PR is an example of bad Negative PR. The bad part comes from the fact we know MPOE-PR represents MPOE.

I seem to recall the part where you were one of the chief supporters of the Global Scam Exchange, back in the days I was the only one saying it's a scam. I seem however to have misplaced the link to that post where you go "Oh woe is me, I'm so stupid, MPOE-PR knows a lot more than me, understands a lot more than me and next time I feel the urge to contradict her I'll just stfu and bow to her superiority instead." Do you have a link handy? Or are you still struggling to come to terms with the causes and reasons one might have to distrust the lists coming out of Nefario?
1368  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-07-23 Wired.com - Why the Only Real Way to Buy Bitcoins Is on the Streets on: July 23, 2013, 10:28:40 PM
hmmmm....you have more than $15,000 in monthly expenses? That is what we did 2 weeks ago. $10,000? That is what we did yesterday...we move volume, and more importantly, you are getting linked in with people, forming trading relationships. If I need cash, I can call Owen, or Dustin, or Kirill and they will buy my coins, and vice versa if I need coins quick, I can always tap into this network. Also, as this paradigm spreads, and more people start doing this, the network will evolve. I have friends in LA, and across the world, I can sell their coins for them here, and vice versa. If the two parties are willing, they can work out terms of settlement on their own.

Satoshi Square in New York is getting very close (we may have passed it already...) to $100,000 in volume. Now this is not anything compared to Mt. Gox, but do you know how many times we have halted trading? 0. How many times have we frozen accounts? 0

The response has been overwhelmingly positive. Even Jeremias Kangas from Localbitcoins.com has said that it makes sense.

That being said, it is not an all or nothing proposition. If you have a business level of commerce, perhaps you need a professional, enterprise solution. But does one guy who wants to buy one coin, who just heard of bitcoin for the first time, really need to wait 2 weeks for approval on mt. gox? I say no. That is a huge and very inconvenient barrier to entry. Many people aren't willing to give up credentials or even link their bank account in any way. Point is that this is necessary, and that is being shown.

This kid is going places, I say.

Who is being arrogant now?
Oh, come on, have you read his posts?

At the rate you're going you'll be this month's avatar of bitcointalk idiocy.
1371  Economy / Securities / Re: S.MG - The Ministry of Games. on: July 22, 2013, 11:55:11 AM
I may have been on the fence over the fund if it wasn't for your attitude, but if anyone asked me now whether to work for MP I'd say no way and point them here. It makes the fund wreak of lack of professionalism. Don't you see that?

A. Stop interjecting yourself in the discussions of adults as if you were one. You aren't one.
B. Learn to spell.
C. Look up what words mean, read up on what's being discussed. S.MG is not a "fund".
1372  Economy / Digital goods / Got ISK? Plex? on: July 22, 2013, 01:21:51 AM
MP is looking to buy a bunch. Probably best talk to him on irc.

Also, if anyone has a highly skilled industrialist they're looking to sell that'd be interesting.
1373  Economy / Securities / Re: S.MG - The Ministry of Games. on: July 22, 2013, 01:19:50 AM
His best move now would be to hire someone that knows what they are doing.

This is pretty much nonsense. The only way to establish that someone KNEW what they were doing with games is in the retrospective. Same as movies and everything else in the line.

I'm interested in learning the subtleties in the distinction between Mircea's known position that a person's capability is measured by the successes they have demonstrated, and how that seemingly conflicts with your statement.

Yes, things change and past success does not guarantee future success, but it helps to be experienced, no?

Or do you feel that the true measure in demonstrating success is tied to agility/adaptability in a string of successes?

I do think the more entrenched you become in a school of thought, the more likely you are to have those with more perspective eat your lunch, but where is the line here?

Well, I have no idea where the line is. MP makes the calls as to the future, apparently history goes into it but I'm pretty sure it's not the whole story. Perhaps the confusion comes from your mixing professional stuff (such as for instance being a banker) with creative stuff. Willy nilly creative stuff is a hit and miss affair, there's no escaping that.

Otherwise it certainly helps to be experienced. It's just the experienced are never the dorks declaring that on some lolforum. Compare noob MP with the string of noobs on parade here, hi I'm X doing Y vs anon nobody doing nothing. Not a very hard call to make in the end.
1374  Economy / Securities / Re: S.MG - The Ministry of Games. on: July 21, 2013, 11:11:49 PM
Actually I would prefer if Netwhack was an example of why you should already have it installed in the first place.

Hey, no one is asking you to put it in your browser Smiley

Nethack predates Java by about as much as your mental age.

The biggest roadblock is the lack of capital and MP seems to have made a good start, but simply having money isn't enough. I think the odds are still overwhelmingly against him.

This is pretty much spot on.

His best move now would be to hire someone that knows what they are doing.

This is pretty much nonsense. The only way to establish that someone KNEW what they were doing with games is in the retrospective. Same as movies and everything else in the line.

If you know what you are doing and do your homework, you also know you don't want to work for him.
Unless, of course, he pays you upfront and gives you carte blanche.

Dream on. You've got a ways to go to carry the man's coffee yet.
1375  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: July 21, 2013, 11:11:00 PM
I'm not following you.  How would a 100 person company leverage OTC to pay their employees?

How would I leverage it to pay my mortgage?

Do you think I can collect enough cash doing 3 BTC sales in coffee shops to run an enterprise?

OTC carries more than half the total BTC trade. Always has. Just because you're a noob and consequently worth 0 to the system does not make the system worth zero, stop with the superficial self centered bs, it's ridiculous. The people that matter in BTC look with the exact same disdain at the so called "exchanges" - the only difference is that they have a point.
1376  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAMMER: TradeFortress! Blackmailed me with dox to install Teamviewer on: July 21, 2013, 11:09:59 PM
TradeFortress is not a scammer. He just wants to persuade everyone to share their inventions with him, without any covert action on his part. For instance, he will lend you e.g. an amount of Bitcoins (BTC) equivalent to several thousand Swiss francs (CHF) if you share inventions worth several million Swiss francs (CHF) with him. He is kind of like Satan – you will truly get what he promised, but the catch lies outside of the deal at hand. That is considerably different from a scammer, even though the other party might be "slightly" shocked. Cheesy Cheesy

Wait, what?
1377  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: AirBNB.com on: July 21, 2013, 11:09:01 PM
How did he arrive at that number (1 visitor)? Is it from that number "1 guest" that's on the screen-shot of the AirBNB website?

Probably.

If you own your home, you don't have a rental contract.

However, if you have 5(!?) bedrooms, why would you need a few meager dollars from renting some? Must be some US cultural thing I don't get to build houses with half a dozen bedrooms if you're no millionaire I guess...

You might get problems for operating an illegal hotel without paying taxes etc. though if you do this regularly, so I'd still recommend to see a lawyer before starting to charge money for rooms.

Contracts and common sense be damned, the chitlins are being innovators!

Incidentally, this stuff is what's called the VA freakshow. The Reobek of entrepreneurship.

I suspect this is greyhawk's sock.

Tsk tsk.
1379  Economy / Securities / Re: S.MG - The Ministry of Games. on: July 21, 2013, 12:14:25 PM
I had some interest in learning about MG because I'm a gamer, investor, etc.. but after reading this entire thread it's clear to me that this is no investment. There's no experience to speak of, no real plan that I can see and MP comes across as the biggest douche on the internet. Get over yourself dude, you might learn a thing or two.

It's mind blowing MG has been able to raise any sort of funds. The community really needs to be a lot more diligent.

Not only are you wrong, but you're also clueless.

I looked at this site when they first started, I thought it looked terrible (it did, and still does), I didn't know anything about the founder and just assumed it was a scam.

Is it really that popular?

People random clueless noobs just like yourself were saying the same thing a year ago. They were making the same wrong choices based on the same broken thought process a year ago. They are no longer with us, for those reasons.

Do yourself a favor and follow the same advice I've given to all the other random clueless noobs outspoken idiots in this thread. Keep quiet until you have a clue and use the time to do your reading.

People are often stupid.
Look at how many throw their money at obvious scams.
Look at how many don't even try to get the money back after they have been scammed.

No. Not "people". Not some vague imaginary thing way over there.

You. You are stupid. You fail to distinguish scams from actual deals.

it could rival Nethack.

I think that's very bold.

Woah there. If you want a deal for a game that's not the way to do it!

Publisher: you don't need one. You may want a funder.

Terms: 70:30 in their favour? That had better be a lot of funding.

And lots of other stuff...

So you came here with your delusions of self importance, got thoroughly humiliated and somehow just can't let go. Too thick to pick up on your own failure or what exactly is the matter?
1380  Economy / Securities / Re: [CLOSED] S.DICE - SatoshiDICE 100% Dividend-Paying Asset on MPEx on: July 21, 2013, 12:08:53 PM
Not disclosing the buyer is really hurting the credibility of this whole thing.

I guess, after all, this is not that first good exit we're all waiting as a btc success story.

I can't wait to see you exit from your company. Ohh wait you don't have a bitcoin company.

The magical power of the Internet anon to shape reality at work. You see, if "Voodah" were to say somewhere on some thread that X is not Y, then therefore that immediately becomes the case.

Hope and pray he doesn't one day wake up with an urge to post here that the Sun won't rise tomorrow. We could be pretty majorly screwed.

All hail the great Internet anon. Please don't fuck astronomy up with your magic keyboard thingie.

I guess we know now that all the SDice money is running to AMC....holy shit.

Try harder.
